Spurs SIGN JORDAN! McLaughlin that is!
Spurs fans, 30 years ago, if you said TSR, the Spurs signed Jordan, I’d be like, “What? No way.” Well, it’s not 30 years ago and it’s not that Jordan. However, it was a good move and I absolutely love what our Spurs have been doing with the roster over the last year. What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. Finally, tonight, Dylan Harper makes his debut for our Spurs. I’ll be live at that I’ll be live for that at 10 p.m. Eastern against the Sixers and VJ Edgecomb. That should be a blast to watch with you guys. However, the Spurs made a move last night. They signed Jordan Mclofflin for one-year extension. Let’s get into the article from Pounding the Rock and then I’m going to get into why I’m so excited and why I think these are the right moves over the last year. Whoops, I can’t read that. All right, good job TSR. After trading away Malachi Brandham and Blake Wesley to acquire Kelly Olenick and losing Chris Paul to free agency, the Spurs found themselves with three open roster spots and a need to shore up their guard death. How about that? We actually need to shore up our guard death behind Dr. Fox, Stefon Castle, and Dylan Harper. To do that, they are resigning point guard Jordan Mclofflin. As from Shams last night, free agent guard Jordan Mclofflin has agreed to a one-year $3 million deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs. He split last season with the Spurs and Kings and now enters his seventh NBA campaign as a reserve guard. Okay, let’s dig a little deeper from Paul Garcia. This is an update on our salary cap situation, if you will. Mclofflin is probably resigning for the vet minimum, 2.9 million. I’d like to resign for the vet minimum. Right. He had used his NB rights. So I think that’s non is that non bird the non- early bird right? Non-bird rights. That would have been 3.4 million. Same situation for expectations. So we can sign one more player for 3.1 million and then another player for 5.1 million. I I’m not going to try to explain the ML stuff and all that. We we we can sign two more players under regular contracts. Mclofflin came to San Antonio from the Sacramento Kings as part of the Why do I keep getting way up here? As part of the Fox trade in February, the six-foot guard, I know I’m taller than him. There’s a rule, don’t send any players shorter than TSR, right? Isn’t that like a new rule? Well, it is what it is. He appeared in 18 games for our Spurs, primarily in garbage time, while averaging two and a half points and one and a half assists while hitting nine of 23s. That’s 45%. and admittedly tiny sample size. He is still a decent outside shooter though averaging 37% across his five-year career, six-year career founding rock. Mclofflin can probably expect a similar role next season even if he’s an end of bench player. He’s also but even if he’s an end of bench player now I’m having trouble reading. He’s also an amazing teammate and locker room presence who was always ready when called on. I love that. I don’t know a lot about him, but reading that he’s an amazing teammate and good locker room presence sounds spursy. All right, let me get to Jordan Mcccloffin real quick. 29 this season, the last two seasons, again a small sample size, he’s shooting like 45% from free. Did I say free? From three. Trying to do this at work sometimes. The struggle is real. But shooting 45% from three. Limited. Yes. But he’s going to bring in three-point shooting. And I know some Spurs fans I already saw on the Facebook are going to poo poo on this move and be like really that’s who we’re signing. We didn’t get Kevin Durant. We didn’t get Giannis. We don’t need Kevin Durant and Giannis because we got both of them in one player. Victor Webbyama is our Batman. Fox is our Robin. We got Castle and Harper who are our bat mites. I don’t think that works. Guys, look at the thumbnail. It’s right there. All these guys were acquiring in like the last year. And I think I see the plan. Solid mix of young players, Wendy, Castle, Harper, Sohan, Bryant, and Penny with vets. And right now, we have three vets with NBA Finals experience. When’s the last time we could say that? Was Timmy still Timmy still playing? Three vets with NBA Finals experience. Barnes, Cornet, and Olen. Hope I’m saying his name right. Olenick. Is that right? Hope so. Then we have Vets with not as much or no playoff experience in Dear Fox, Kell Johnson, Decel, and Guest, they are part of the team right now. And I’m rooting for them to play well this year, but we also got size. We’ve got some three-point shooting with our vets. We could use a little more shooting maybe with one of those open roster spots. But something we’ve talked about on this channel really the last few years is we need some vets to round up the roster. Check. We have been saying a lot we need size on the team. They brought two players in with size. Cornet brings some actually both bring some girth, don’t they? And we need some three-point shooting. Olen will bring in some three-point shooting. Mclofflin Grant won’t play much. Will bring us some three-point shooting. Barnes three-point shooting. We need another star next to WBY Fox. What I’m getting at here is all the moves Brian Wright, love him or hate him, Brian right, Brian wrong. As mover of last year, I think are trending in the right direction. Granted, we had some luck getting the second overall pick, but getting Dylan Harper. Awesome. Can’t wait to see him tonight. Carter Bryant struggling a little bit in summer league. Not going to judge him on that. Way too early. He’s making some mistakes. Could be nervous. Who the heck knows? Didn’t like his slaying crow the other night, but it is what it is. I’m sure he’ll be okay. hopefully be okay. I I like I I really I maybe I’m being too captain optimistic here, maybe too Spurs goggling, but I I really think we’ve got the right mix now, a good mix of young players who can develop and we have a mix of vets to be locker room leaders to to bring that NBA playoff experience that’s been sorely missing for this team for what feels like years. And I have heard from you guys, not I don’t I’m gonna acknowledge it. I know Kelly Olick has had some uh question marks with his play on the court in regards to being a dirty player. I did watch the Kevin Love injury from what that a decade ago. Not a good look. All I can say is hopefully he doesn’t do anything that makes us shake our heads and say why do we bring this guy in? I hope he just was a professional and does just play go out there and play basketball. No, no, no, no. Nonsense. Hey, it’s a long time ago. He’s younger. Let’s hope he turns things around. I I really like this roster, guys. I really do. As far as moves coming in the future, I I think at this point, I think barring him playing like Pooh the rest of summer league, I think David Jones Garcia has earned himself the other two-way contract. He’s been I think our leading scoreer in all three games. We have an open two open roster spots are probably going to fill at least one. Maybe if Bradley Minnik starts draining threes left and right. He didn’t he didn’t in the G- League last year. It was north of 40%. I think his shooting splits were over 50 40 80. Correct me if I’m wrong. He and he’s an older older guy or he’d be an older NBA rookie at well he played one game or two games. Maybe he’s not. Is he rookie? I don’t know. I’m rambling on that. If he can continue his hot shooting in the summer league that we saw in the in Austin last year, maybe the Spurs call him up and then that rounds out the roster with what something I just said we needed not too long ago. More shooting, more three-point shooting. I like Riley from what I’m seeing. He missed a lot of time from playing basketball. plays off from January to just the other day. So, I’d like to see him make the roster. I really would. And then that gives another two-way contract to bring back the Bouet. There’s your Bouet reference for the summer. I don’t even know where Jamari Buouay is. Do you guys know? I don’t know. But I’m excited for this team. I love covering this team. I love talking Spurs with you guys. And I feel really good about the upcoming season. I really do. 50 wins, playoffs. Let’s go. Drop a comment down below. Am I just being kept optimistic? Are you in the we can’t win anything until Kell Johnson and Dell trade TSR? I’m telling you. Or are you like, you know what, mix of young, mix of vets, we got this. Hit that up to support the channel. Drop that comment. I’ll see you tonight for the Spurs and Sixers. And subscribe if you haven’t already. Thank you. And as always, go Spurs go. I stay.
The San Antonio Spurs have made some great moves over the last year!

I actually (kinda) predicted this in the comments during yesterday’s video. Bwu-haha!
It just makes sense. He’s a smart 29YO player that takes care of the basketball and never makes boneheaded plays.
That’s who you want on the floor when you’re winning – or losing – by 30. And that’s the only time he’ll really play.
You don’t need to overpay Malaki Branham to do that for you.
McLaughlin can also spot start in a pinch, and play within the game and the other players.
Good signing!
I hope it’s not too bad, but idk if anyone seen Riley moving his shoulder like it was injured again and then we didn’t see him return. Idk if he plays today ig we will see.
Vassell and Johnson will play hard and can both score. Keep them on the roster. They can play when the stars are resting and score.
He went to school up the street for me, the same school Jeff Ayers went to. So of coarse I like it.
dunno.. ive heard commentators pronounce it both O-Linnick and Ol-Nick lol
Yes! That's what we were talking about. Three! Versatility! Size! We need chemistry now.
Why?????
I'm calling it now TSR and fellow Spurs fans. Spurs will win 42 to 47 games and be a play in team this year.
Jordan McLaughlin? I would have kept Blake Wesley over him. Put Jordan in a sign and trade to the Wiz with Branham.
NBA teams need 14 players to start the season or incur penalties, the 3 mil uses up last of one of our exemptions. Jordan is a place holder now with a tradable contract worth 3mil(see what they did). The 5mil exemption is what we should be focusing on: WHO'S IT GONNA BE
4:24 “Oh-lin-ick” Hope this helps :o), also I like the whole Batman/Robin comparison, but I prefer to look at it more as a Batman and Superman duo with Wemby and Fox 😎
Harper OUT for gane vs PHI. will make debut vs DAL next game via Don Harris
Garbage time role only, not really important
The Spurs do need some bench vets, so this is a decent move. He won't care about playing much and can be a good vet for the younger players. More teams need these kind of guys.
If Harrison Ingram doesn't pick it up, then there's another draft pick that didn't pan out. We just traded TWO 2022 FRP to the Wizards. Way to go Brian Wrong.
I think 2 of the 3 would get the roster spots. Minix, Jones Garcia or Osifu. Unpopular take, I rather get Minix and Osifu. Feels like Jones Garcia would need the ball a lot to make a difference.
Seems Dylan Harper is not playing until Saturday against Dallas
I was hoping they would bring in Garcia from the Spurs Summer League team
Idk why but I’ve always thought that Kelly olynyk looked like tsr 😂
Maybe you just have the whole bat family? Robin, Red Robin, red hood, and nightwing?
He might not get minutes but he can challenge our young ones in practice BW genius
Wemby is our Superman. Alien, get it. Fox is our Flash, for his speed. The youngins are the Teen Titans. The vets are the Justice Society. Maybe not that old. Are thought you're a comic guy. LOL Olynyk is pronounced: Oh-lin-ick.
He can also start too when Dylan, fox or castle may need some extra rest. Always good to have good depth
All these moves and videos of the spurs and I never see anyone speak of Vassell or see his picture in the starting line up lol what's going on with him?
I'm glad that fox has been able to be still on the roster with all these changes. When i saw him in Sacramento, I said hes going to be spur and help with a championship.
