Ace Bailey’s NBA Draft drama
ace baileyy’s nba career has not even started yet and it’s already full of drama let me explain ace bailey was incredible in college he was even drawing kd comparisons and everyone was saying “oh this guy’s going to easily be a top three maybe even top two pick.” but going into the draft is when things started to get a little weird 99.9% of players being selected in the draft are just ready to go wherever they are chosen they are happy to be there this is their dream come true ace bailey had a slightly different approach to the whole thing he was treating this like free agency he said “either i want to go to washington brooklyn or new orleans that’s it.” he didn’t even work out for any teams he actually had a workout schedule with the sixers but then canceled it at the last minute which drew lots of criticism from prominent people paul george called him out saying that he’s in no position to make demands and even the pennsylvania governor called him out but ace did not waver to be fair this is not the first time a player has been selective about where or where they don’t want to get drafted but what makes this unique is he’s just refusing to work out for any of these teams and making a list of where he wants to go and basically saying “don’t pick me in the top five.” because the top five teams are none of his preferred destination so draft night comes and everyone’s wondering “are these teams going to respect his wishes is he actually not going to get drafted in the top five because he simply doesn’t want to play there it seems like things are about to go his way when all of the sudden we get to pick number five and the jazz say you’re coming with us.” danny a said “i don’t give a you’re the best player available you’re coming to utah whether you like it or not so ace bailey gets drafted to utah and you can’t really tell by his face how he’s feeling and then in a post-draft interview he’s asked about going to utah and he says “i didn’t even know the jazz were interested in me.” well yeah it might be hard to know that if you’re refusing to speak to them but i digress so all of this begs the question should teams not take somebody because they don’t want to go there or should they just pick the guy that they think is going to be the best fit

Is it just me or are players becoming increasingly more selfish and cocky before their pro careers start off? Each year that goes by, we have an increasing amount of players that are entitled instead of grateful that they get to play their favorite sport for a living and get live a dream very few will ever get. Maybe I’m just getting old school even though I’m a 2000’s kid but, whatever

naw facts tho they still should have the decision it’s the same thing as owning musical artists masters. the nba owns the footage of these high performance players because of their hard work, talent, or both. Therefore they should be able to have some decision in their career.

Well teams better get use to this type of attitude coming to the NBA cause with kids already becoming millionaires from NIL deals they gonna be a lil more ok not caring about being a top 5 pick. I do understand both sides of the argument tho, Ace is a great college athlete and deserves to voice his thoughts but I also understand he hasn’t proven anything yet on a NBA scale. He could be a generational talent and go to any team he wants or be a bust and be out the NBA. Regardless the kids in hot water cause of this now and if he doesn’t produce immediately his actions and comments are going to be brought up again.
