I know that this is a little risky on your part. So, we appreciate it. Where are you hiding? Where are you hiding? Just in the old garage studio, dude. In the garage studio. I got the dryer going. It’s It’s very sophisticated over here. I don’t think anyone’s going to find me. All right. Well, we’ve I just for those who don’t understand, we have invited FLA Sports Buzz to the podcast. Miami Herald is holding deliberations as we speak. I’ll be I’ll be rolled into court at some point to see if I can steal 20 minutes from Barry. Uh but we have settled for Tobin instead. We’re also going to have Alfon Sydney, our old partner on the podcast on this week. We’re just bringing all the friends together, say the Avengers uh Avengers Assemble. Let me just ask you a question, Tobin, because you had a meltdown about two weeks ago. It’s not your first, it won’t be your last. Uh you are known as the harpoon champion here. You are the one that goes after the orcas, the whales, everything else in the sea. Are you satisfied now? Are you happy now? They got you. He’s not a whale. He’s not a guppy though, either. He’s somewhere in between. Maybe a swordfish. Uh Norm Powell, are are you are you satisfied? Can Can will you lay off them for a day or two at this point? I mean, I I would say I I’ll give him a break for a little bit, but did you just see that Joker didn’t sign his extension? Like, we got to get to business, Ethan. Like, where is Goron? Get his butt over here. We need to sign him already to the front office. We need Yovic recruiting during Euro Basket task at hand. All right, we got to move off Norman Powell already. All right, but but here’s the thing, Tobin. He’s You’re not going to find Yokic in the sea. You’re going to find him at the track. That’s true, right? We need to You need something else like lasso, something like that. What are we What are we doing to get Yokic? Tell Tell Mickey and Pat bring him their finest oats for whatever whatever whatever stallion or steed he wants. You know, take that parking lot that’s there by the uh by the port. make that a stable, you know, just let’s get innovative with this stuff. But no, look, they they obviously made an awesome move. Uh it was much needed. I feel like if anything, Ethan, you know, Brady and I talk about this plenty of times before games. We just needed something that feels like a real different ingredient. Like, yes, people get sick of the run it back thing, but it’s really just it’s not even just that they would bring, you know, the the same two main guys back, but it just feels like they’re giving them nothing of of real note. And yeah, DaVon Mitchell was awesome last year, and that was great, but they also got waxed by a margin of defeat we’ve never seen. So, this feels like something substantial that can actually help their guys, give them something proven. a guy who was on a really good team last year, you know, that that seems to be eager to to get this opportunity after hearing him uh speak to the media that this is a guy that’s excited about this opportunity after getting a little miffed that he got dealt. So, look, as as mad as I was, you there’s nothing negative you could say about this move. They got a a borderline all-star for two dudes who really shouldn’t have seen the court. I mean, what could the complaint possibly be? You mentioned needing change. I mean, the change that we saw last year, you you mentioned Davon, but obviously Andrew Wiggins, we we talked often about thinking what we thought was going to change with him, kind of getting the stuff that Powell kind of talked about on his press conference thing today was the stuff that we thought was going to happen with Wiggins, like getting Tyler off the ball, helping him offensively, uh, taking the pressure away from the way defense is playing, like all of that stuff. So, I just wanted to ask, where do you kind of sit with Andrew Wiggins right now? because there’s all the the things about maybe him getting moved, about maybe that’s the next piece of maybe adding a little bit of difference to this roster. Uh so like would you keeping the theme of staying satisfied? Like would you be satisfied if Andrew Wiggins is the starting three next year on this team or do you kind of see it uh more of a route to kind of getting more rotation players? I think it’s it’s better now because I don’t think you can rely on him to necessarily be that relief that’s going to be looking forward to being there to to help out Bam and Tyler. We know that the guy is tremendously talented. We’re all like miffed when we see him go off for half a quarter and you’re like, “That’s the greatest basketball player I’ve ever seen in my life.” And then it just kind of fades out. Um, but I I I think it’s interesting. I think, you know, hearing wherever this fodder is coming from from the Lakers, like I don’t know how real it is or not, but I I you know, hearing them say, “Oh, this this feels like the Lakers want to be more reason.” If anything, I feel like this puts the Heat in more of a comfort zone. And I think it’s like if they do come across a deal like this that’s too good to be true and they can get, you know, a first round pick for Andrew Wiggins and clear books a little bit, then I think they’re going to do that because I think they want to make themselves as flexible as possible. It’s not really a knock on Andrew, but I do think putting less scoring pressure on him and letting him just kind of float in the margins where he’s probably at his best as a player will maybe make him more effective. So, I I do think that this deal can have a positive domino effect on on on Wiggins, too, if he sticks around. Tobin, how will you feel if uh if Terry Rosier is not only on your favorite basketball team this upcoming season, but Eric Spolstra is playing him more than 15 minutes per game? Not good, dude. I’m not going to feel good about that. I’m not going to. But cuz you like honestly when we talk about youth movement, I’m like I’m watching Pella Larson uh this this summer and I’m like this guy looks like he’s ready to take a step like he’s not a young young guy. He’s got college experience and you know, you’re always wondering like who’s going to be the Max Streuse who’s going to take a step up and like who’s who’s going to uh to give some actual real production of this rotation. And honestly, like that’s been the thing that I’ve been wondering is this guy looks like he’s gonna be too good to hold down. And so, yeah, you look at Terry, I don’t know what they do with that situation because of how much money he makes, but I think they already went through the hardest part of it last year, you know, basically tapping out on it and not giving him minutes anymore except against the Wizards. Um, but look, do not attach an asset like just expire. Let it let it let it run out. I don’t need to attach second round picks, first round picks. The damage is done at this point. Like, how did you feel about that trade at the time? Because all of us on Five on the Floor were wrong. We all we all were in favor of it at the time. Like, I can’t hide from that. Yeah. I I mean, I thought it was I thought it was needed as far as like, hey, they definitely needed something different because Tyler was injured and because, you know, they they, you know, desperately didn’t have the Damen Lillard edition. And so it was such a wonky year, you know, like you think about I was talking about this the other day with Duncan leaving, right? Like that was arguably one of Duncan’s best seasons and like even his back going out in that season was such a killer to them. It was such a snake bit year between that and the whole Jimmy thinking he’s going to flip the switch. The thing I just never got about it was attaching the pick cuz I was just like, you’re going to give them an expiring, they’re getting off the contract. Like who are they bidding against for Terry Roier to be this desperate? I think it just kind of spoke to them not really accepting that their window was closed already when it was closed when the dame Drew Holidayiday stuff happened and then and so so would you would you have tried to trade Jimmy then because I I know they they explored it. I know people don’t don’t believe that but I know they explored it. Now we see what the return is. Alex and I just did a podcast arguing about this and and the return looks a lot better if you throw Powell in the mix now and you take Kyle Anderson out of it. Uh which essentially is what they just did. Um, but would you would you have looked to move Jimmy sooner? I guess. Um, I think that it’s hard to I I want to The thing that I’ve always wondered, Ethan, about the Jimmy season that I can’t give him full blame for, even though it looks stupid now is that we were all kind of after these games. Like the vibes didn’t seem that bad. Even though it’s so obvious to look at be like, “Oh, you didn’t pay him. Jimmy said he was going to play nice.” But you had games like we all saw like him and Tyler were vibing pretty good and they were jokey joking. Like I kind of thought, yeah, maybe he’s going to be professional. And I’ve always wondered like, hey, was there like a there was a point in the season where the agent went back to them and said, okay, now and they said no. And then it was just make a stink mode. Was it after the weird flu game or the the stomach bug ankle turn game? And he goes, well, I’m not putting my body on the line for this team anymore. So, I do think that they came into that season and I think I think Jimmy probably was like, “All right, I guess I’ll try and give it a go.” And then he was just like, “Nah, never mind.” Because he’s a moody guy. Like, he he flips on a dime. So, I really can’t get on him for the Jimmy stuff too much because I do think Jimmy went about it and and and maybe went into it with the intentions that he was going to try, but obviously his past and and his track record makes you look at it and be like, “You guys really didn’t see that coming? you’re going to extend Bam and not him and that was going to be a problem. Like so but I mean honestly yeah the trade is not looking so so bad right now. I think it’s actually the they’re the tentacles of it are looking pretty strong. So we were talking before I know we always kind of talked about wanting to see the young guys play a ton. Like it’s always about that especially with the direction of this team right now. Uh, I’ve seen some stuff out there where they talk about maybe this trade hurting the playing the young guys thing where like adding Powell because he is 32 years old. I don’t see it that way. I kind of been the feeling of like throwing Yoic and Kell and all these young players out there and making them play with the summer league roster is not helping this team or helping them improve. If you put a shooter and a score out there and Powell around the young guys, I feel like that puts them in their right roles and makes them better. Aside from that, because I’m looking at the rotation, I’m looking at who’s possibly to play. We know where Yoic is going to be in the rotation. We know where a lot of these guys is. You mentioned Pel Larson, how he’s playing in summer league. That’s kind of been the biggest surprise of summer league. I won’t I don’t know if I’d say surprise, but it’s been the best story of summer league just because he’s been so good offensively. When I look at the roster, it kind of seems to me it’s Pel Larson or Jamez. Like it’s kind of one or the other that’s going to be that bench piece that comes in. And I’m just wondering where you land on that right now because the the easy biased answer I think everybody’s going to give is that Pel Larson’s that person right now. Like he’s the guy that you’re going to bet on. But is it possible it is haimey because it it seems like it could be somebody coming off a bad season that maybe shows a little improvement and gets that chance. So I’m just curious to see where you kind of land on those two guys right now. Yeah, I I agree with you and Lock said with a lot of that that um you know Pella playing so well and just thinking about like how many you know effort plays he has the cutting of just not really needing the ball in his hands and just finding right plays like that just reminds me so much of rookie. Um it is interesting. I don’t know. You know, I guess he’s talked a lot about, you know, doing the mental coach thing and trying to clear his mind and get his confidence back and, you know, maybe not rely so, you know, not all be about the shooting and and maybe get back to his bread and butter a little bit if they could put him in those kind of comfort zones. But yeah, if I was him and I was looking at anybody taking my job, that’s certainly the guy I’m looking at because he does provide defensive tenacity. He does provide effort plays. He doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands. Um, and he does look like he’s getting better. Yes, he’s also not the greatest shooter in the world, but he’s better than Haime. And which is not a high bar, I understand, but I think, you know, I don’t know what the leash is with Haime Hawk. To me, it’s like almost unless Andrew Wiggins gets traded and that spot kind of opens up for him in the starting lineup, then yeah, I kind of feel like he’s got to play his way back in there and earn that. Um, which is a little hard because Pella is obviously in front of everybody right now and he’s getting that opportunity. Um, but yeah, I don’t think you give up. They certainly need him to bounce back because right now you go from a guy who’s a first team all rookie to nothing. So, they got to get something out of him. They got to try and find a way. But also, how do you, you know, this is the com, this is for competitors only, is it not like if a guy’s out playing him and they feel better about his development, he’s also one of your draft picks. Not like you found him out of nowhere. Um, so I don’t I I think that, you know, to the better man’s going to play. All right, I got one more for you and then the other side we’ll expand this out into South Florida sports, but I know you kind of had I just following you over the years, you kind of had a call it love hate, but uh love not so love feeling about Dunk as a player. Like I I I feel like you were sort of out on him, you were in on him, you were out on him. Do you have a I mean we we we’ve said second best undrafted player in Miami Heat history. I don’t think there’s really any question, right? It’s UD terms of impact and then it’s Duncan even though they’ve had a ton of these guys. Do you have a favorite Duncan moment? Can be off the floor. Anything else like that? By the way, subscribe to Off the Floor $2.99 a month. Link right here in the description. Um, subscribe to Tobin stuff, too. The YouTube channel’s great. Do you have a favorite Duncan moment? Um, I have I love the the Easter game, the when he was the threester bunny. I thought that that I think that was against the Hawks. Absolutely great performance by Duncan Robinson. And uh yeah, mean mugging dunkyard dog style in the finals steps up. And I think you know him being able to do that in the first bubble run was was huge for him. Um he’s a fascinating player, Ethan. Like I I mean like this guy because I think he was so open about it, you know, a lot like you know probably Chris Bosch was when you covered him, right? Like just you could see that he would wear some of the struggles on him. I think definitely you’ve never seen more in more obvious like the pressure of a contract getting to him. And I think when you have that responsibility in the salary cap sport, yes, you’re going to face more criticism. But I will tell you, I remember I was on media row with you guys last year. I thought it was a it was a slap in the face to a guy who had been with the organization for a long time. To put him in a game when you’re about to get swept for the first time down 50, that was wrong. They shouldn’t have played he played in garbage time all year that he was like their garbage time player for like quite some time which made no sense to me in general. He was but he was always the greatest with that and that’s why you have such respect for him as a guy because like he’d go to like San Antonio preseason games with nobody’s and play the whole game with them right they would throw him out there and so to put him to to to make him basically like take the guillotine finish from the Cavaliers I just thought was so wrong and I’m like there’s no way that guy’s coming back you know I didn’t even think about it at the time actually I don’t know Brady did you I don’t know if you mention it on sometimes Tobin and I sit next to each other on press row I don’t I don’t even recall that, but now that you mentioned it, he didn’t speak like there were only three guys that didn’t speak uh to the media that were requested. I remember a couple years ago Yovic forgot what time it was or what day it was, but which is typical Nico. And I want to ask you about Nico on the other side because I think you have similar affection for Nico’s personality. Uh but the only three guys who who wouldn’t talk to the media after the exit interviews were Wiggins, Rosir, which not neither of those surprised me really, and then Duncan. And I was like, Duncan not speaking to the media. And now, as I’ve since found out, there was never really a plan to bring him back. Um, I think they parted on good terms. Duncan got his money. The Heat got Fonteio back and they saved a little bit of money here, which gives them a little more flexibility. But now, thinking back to it, yeah, that that probably wasn’t there probably should have been somebody else that they should have thrown out should have thrown out there. All right, I want you to think about this, but then on the other side, I I do want to get into some broader topics here. Um, but I I I want you to give me a number on the other side. What is the highest that you would go on a Tyler Hero extension per year? We’re going to put you on the spot with that one. All right. Before we do though, if you need car insurance, you’re on the spot. You don’t have car insurance. You got a bad driving record just like Tobin here. Reach out to Lynette. Insuranceby bylanette.com. What’s your number, Tobin? What’s the highest number? And then you say, “I’m walking away from this.” Okay. Well, I just want to say I’m very bad at this because the NBA has really screwed me with the numbers. Like I don’t I don’t know what anybody who’s not a Max guy anymore is supposed to make. Like it’s it’s so I’m gonna just say the number 35, but I’m also gonna tell you I think Tyler gave you the answer. It doesn’t matter because that dude’s shooting max. Like when he says last year it’s going to be either in se in whatever it is, October, September, whenever the hell that that window is or it’s going to be more expensive. I think he said what he’s expecting without saying what he’s expecting. They’re not going to do that though. I don’t I don’t think I I don’t Can you Can you and I respect Tyler? I respect his story. I respect him taking the fragile thing and throwing it out and playing 75 games last year. I respect all of it. You can’t pay Bam and Tyler $100 million and compete for anything significant. I can you I mean the the raise and the cap and the tax and is not enough. I I just I I don’t see how you could go above say three for 110. Like that’s kind of where my number is, which is pretty similar to yours. So what do you do? You trade him after this season? See, this and this is the thing that kind of stinks about this new NBA because it’s like why should the Heat have to make a decision like that where it’s like, hey, this is really going to handcuff you with two guys that you drafted, two great draft picks, a guy who is an all-star, two allstars, one guy came up on great timing and has had plays and yeah, I would say Bam has solidified himself as he may not be the guy, but he’s definitely a guy who’s good enough to be a piece on a on a winner. You know that. Tyler, we haven’t gotten to see that since his rookie season, whether it be injuries, whether it be the team not being good enough. Um, and yeah, he takes the brunt of the criticism, and I I do feel bad that it always feels like he’s at the expense of of he’s not he’s not worthy of that. Look, if it was if it had no punitive measure, I wish Tyler Herro could make a hundred million dollars. Like, I don’t care. But yeah, when you talk about the ramifications that it has and what he’s shown himself and I guess maybe his limitations as the dude to be, yeah, it’s it’s tough to think you’re going to pay him a max contract, but I don’t think if they don’t, I don’t think that’s going to go well. So, yeah, I think what I don’t that is definitely going to be one of the interesting storylines for this year. Before I ask you my other question, with Tyler and Bam being your two pillars this season where and looking at the way the East is with all these teams that are injured and it kind of being wide open like right now in this moment, where do you kind of see their range being of where they end up landing against in the standings? Are they still playing? Are they up right up up top of the playing? Where do you kind of see it? I think that they I if if you get reasonable improvement from your two young bigs, I think that they can be in the bottom of the I think they could be in the right out right up right out of the playin and and hit like five six if they get really good maybe four. I I think if like everything clicks for them. I mean it is a bit of a a mash unit right now in the East. And obviously it also is contingent on like what the heck happens with Giannis. What are the Bucks going to be? How is that going to go? Cuz I think right now they look fine. But I don’t, you know, who knows what that’s going to end up being if that’s going to work out for them. So I think that they can stay out of the playing just based on on all the the things that they they have right now. And you know, if I’m to buy into what DaVon Mitchell said this week about, hey, we have a camp together. We’re going to know each other better. If I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt, I’m just giving it the most optimistic. I think that’s where the talent can be. Um because I thought that that was too good a roster. I mean to to have those names on that roster and to have Eric Sper’s longest losing streak be with those guys just kind of spoke to what a cruddy year it was. It was it was really really wild by 92. Go ahead Brady. The the question about that is does Powell change the vibes to that extent? Because that’s kind of where they were sitting last year and I think that’ll be the question. But as you kind of mentioned, I think the only other thing that could change the vibes of this team is one of the young players blossoming. Like it has to be Kell making like a big jump, Nico turning into like a a for sure healthy rotation player that’s like trusted offensively. Uh I was going to throw Casper in there probably a couple weeks ago, but right now I think he’s a little behind the eightball talking rotation. But I’ll I’ll ask you this because they’ve been talking a lot about I mean the number one thing Colon has to improve is the weight. I mean he has to put size on. We’re kind of seeing that in summer league just like not trying to get pushed around on the offensive boards and all stuff like that. But the adding muscle aside, what do you think is the number one thing that you’d like to see Kell add? Because like you see that play where like spin moves into a step back three and it’s like well if he has that consistently I mean we’re we’re talking a different game but is that realistic? So like what do you think is the number one thing you’d kind of like to see from him? I’d like to see some kind of a of a balance between it’s not even necessarily like any part of his game. It’s just like, hey, you know what these guys want out of you. And it was very clear that they were saying, hey, go there and dominate. I think they wanted him to put up two double doubles, smoke everybody on the floor. And it really I felt to me like he was playing with his food those first summer league games like in the fourth quarter. Yeah, he definitely swatted everything and basically took it over when he had to. And he’s I mean, if you watched it on Twitter, you would have thought he had the greatest game in the world, but like those literally were the only plays where you’re like, whoa. He was super unselfish. Yeah. I just think that for him I just Yeah, I think for him, Brady, he’s just got to he’s he’s got to just bring that, you know, balls to the wall mentality that, you know, that they demand out of those guys. I think that we’ve seen that growth from Nico, which was such a bummer about him breaking his hand cuz it felt like on that West Coast trip like we were starting to see something with him that was because he certainly has a confidence. We know he’s going to get I think a good chance this uh this summer in Euro Basket. I’m excited to see with him healthy what that’s going to look like. Um but if I had confidence that someone’s going to take a leap more this year, I think I trust Nico more than Khal. I think Kell’s going to be good and I think the tangible athleticism and the fact that he looks like a space alien and can cook WMY like he’s going to have stuff that just makes everybody crazy, but also he needs to like do the in between stuff where it’s like it’s not and I’m not saying he has a motor problem necessarily. I know that’s the knock on him. I think sometimes it’s just what sevenfooters go through, but I think they need him to grow up with that stuff and not have to like always remind him constantly. Yeah. I mean, I think we got past the point of the sort of Whiteside Beasley comparisons in the first year, which I felt like this was trending towards with some of the stuff that was talked about pre-draft. I don’t think it’s that. I don’t think it’s lack of I basketball IQ like Beasley had when it was hard to put him on the court defensively or Whiteside where it was about himself. It’s actually the opposite with Wear. It doesn’t seem like he makes it about himself. And I’m with you. I think they wanted him to dominate a little bit more. I think Yovic takes the bigger leap this year as long as they find a role. They got to find a consistent role. It can’t be and some of it’s injury related, but it can’t be you’re going to do this at this time. We’re going to put you in the starting lineup. You’re going to shoot spot up jumpers. No, now we’re going to put you on the bench and the ball’s going to be your hands. No, now we’re going to make you the backup five. Like, they got to go get a five so that he doesn’t have to do that. And I I think you got to give him something specific to do and I feel like the growth will come with him. Uh because the confidence is there. I mean, it’s it’s just he he he has it. Um let me go around South Florida sports with you here quickly and Brady can jump in on some of these. Okay. Has if the Panthers win a third straight Stanley Cup championship, is that the greatest dynasty in South Florida sports history? I mean, I think you got to say so. Unfortunately, just because it’s such a hard Why Why are you saying unfortunately? Because I know because first of all, we’re on a heat because we’re on a heat podcast. People People know Brady and I both follow this. I just want people to because you look I I I because it is it it’s a heat podcast. I just want you to know. But yeah, I think it is because my producer five on the ice. Yeah. My my producer Marcus Gonzalez like he he’ll he’ll crank these up and he goes, “I think this is 10 times more impressive than the big three.” I’m like, “All right, calm down, dude. They got to get to four straight at least.” But they got and he was saying that before they even won back to back. Um so now they’ve won backtoback in a sport that’s just so grueling. But the thing that’s so impressive and I and I don’t think uh you know that is is that the fact that all these guys just want to stay down here and they are taking discounts and they’re not going anywhere. So I just don’t see this ending anytime soon. The big the only thing that’s going to make it derail Ethan is if if is if my boy Bob comes back and he looks like a 38-year-old. I mean it’s literally the only thing that could derail. They traded away the protection for that which was Spencer Knight. But yes, that would be the issue. I I’ve never seen a team like this since like the and I’m older than you, but the Islanders teams that I grew up with in the 80s. They remind me of them. It’s just like they’re all bonded together. They’ve become part of this community. Nobody wants to leave. They take less money. Marian’s going to be playing till he’s 85 years old at the Dairy Queen. I mean, like it it is it’s remarkable what they’ve done. So, this leads to the next question. Is Bill Zo now the best executive in South Florida sports currently? Like on power rankings or all time? I I mean right now and then where does this fall? He currently is the best. Um I’m not going to put him past Pat Riley because Pat Riley I think has done like multiple builds and multiple championships. So I don’t He was like 19 at the press conference to I was trying to I don’t know where that came from but okay. I Yeah, I I don’t either. But I’m not going to he doesn’t take the throne from Pat Riley yet, but he is definitely a top the power rankings right now. The thing that’s interesting about this team, and I think that’s that’s cool about it, is like they he has made some really savvy moves, but like if you’re going to put a he comparison to it, I mean there’s so there there are a lot of like Bamabio Sasha Barov comparisons like the aggressive stuff. He’s the captain, but he’s not the attitude. And that’s what Kachchuck brought. Kach Kachchuck even mentioned that in his intro press conference that like, hey, I’m I can lead in a little bit of a different way. And I think that’s what we’ve all kind of been waiting for is like who is going to be their kachchuck? Who is going to be the guy? It was he aged out. But yes, but like but a 23 year old Jimmy like not a guy who you’re willing to pay for eight years. Like that’s the that’s what that’s what we’ve been waiting for because Pataga got plenty of criticism and then what also he does you see this he’ll do things on the ice you’re just like why don’t you do that all the time which is like like things that make the the the great ones jaw drop to the floor. So and and Babroski you know I was talking to Babski so many times that opening season and he was going through hell that year. Yeah. Um they wanted chanting they were chanting for his trade. I know veered off course here, but no, it’s remarkable. Actually, the Duncan thing reminded me a little of him because when Duncan had the comeback season, everybody wanted him traded with a contract. He and Bob were going through the same thing. All right, so I I got I got one more for you related to the Steve Ross said, I believe in 2014 with LeBron gone that the Dolphins were going to capture the imagination of the market because the Heat couldn’t anymore. So when exactly does that happen, Tobin? Because it’s 11 years later. Um I was at their last playoff win on December 30th, 2000. Do they win a playoff game? I’m 52. How old are you? 38. Do they win a playoff game in your lifetime? And I I I need to know how well you’re eating. Are you taking care of yourself and all of that stuff? Well, let’s let’s put it this way. Brady is 22. Is that right? We got three different gener We got a Gen X here. We’ve got I’ve never seen a Dolphin playoff win. I’m just That’s just You’ve never seen So So I’m Gen X Tobin. That makes you what? Millennial, I guess. So yes, I believe so. I guess Brady, my daughter’s Gen Alpha. You’re not Gen Alpha though. You’re what? What are you? I have no clue. Okay. Whatever. No clue. Uh thinks he’s millennial and Gen X. Okay. Are any of us going to see a Dolphin playoff win in our in our lifetime ever? Ever. I got to think yes. Just because there’ll be one where like they’ll end up there’s they got to end up with like the seven and nine division winner right on the road and like that’ll be the time that they get it. But do I feel good like it’s going in that direction? They just signed a retired tight end. No. Like he’s more known for music videos than he is catching the football. Well, wasn’t he dating a WNBA player? He was He was married to Kelsey Plum and then he put on a he put on a breakup music video. That’s good. They’re going the right direction. Is Tyreek does he want to play for them now or not? I’m confused. I was so confused about that too because I was like, you know, we were talking about this this week with the Jaylen Ramsay thing and it was like, what the hell did Jaylen Ramsay what could possibly have happened between him and Mike McDaniel? Because apparently that’s where it it springs from. Like there’s something that was just so unforgivable. The ones maybe. I don’t know. Cuz Tyreek Hill literally quit on his team and then said, “I want to leave afterwards.” Like not even just like Jimmy one-legged threes, like he walked off the field and Jaylen Wadd’s like, “Hey, where are you going?” Like not even Jimmy Butler did that and then they’re just like and the next day they’re just like, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s all good, baby. He’s coming back.” And I’m like, “What? We’re all just good with that. That’s that’s cool.” So I just I want to know what happened with Jaylen Ramsay. Did he give an atomic wedgie to Mike McDaniel? Like what was so unforgivable that Tyreek can come back for quitting, but Jaylen Ramsay had to go. Brady, I’ll let you have the last one. We’ll let Tobin go. He’s good at this radio thing. He does like three hours a day. Well, I’m hitting still South Florida sports here. I’m supposed to be just the the pure heat guy. I get We were talking Marlins before this started. Promise Yoic. Do we get Yoic like Oh, Yoic. Okay. Oh, that’s right. Okay. What what makes Cuz I feel like you like Yovic better than you’ve liked any player that the Heat have ever had. Is that fair? Is that fair? I really like him because he’s like tall Goron, right? He says whatever’s on his mind. We used to love that about Goran. I I I I’ve said my favorite thing about Gorad was you literally could get him to say anything. But actually Tim Hardaway was kind of the king of that. Like you you can say I tell this story from time to time but the whole Nick Bevetta thing this is before your time and definitely before Brady’s but that was before the last game I believe of the 2000 I think. Yeah, the 2000, one of the three series that they lost to the Knicks on the last play. And before the game, Mike Weise and I are standing in front of Tim Hardaway. And Mike Weise, who covered the Knicks for years and and also other sports, NBA primarily, uh he says he just says it was just me, Mike, and Tim. And he says to Tim, he says, “Well, you got Nick Bevetta officiating tonight’s game.” So then they lose. Like at the end, of course, Mashurn doesn’t take the shot. I still think he made the right play. Sedano will never agree with me on that. Neither does anybody in the Heat organization. He passes to Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon misses the shot. But there also was a play earlier in the game where Spreewell should have been called for a foul, stepped out of bounds, etc., etc. They don’t call him. We go in the locker room after the game. Everybody’s distraught. PJ Brown headed his hands. He knows he’s getting traded. Jamal, okay, I don’t know he cared that much, but they were all, you know, Pat had to come out to talk to the team again. Another loss of the Knicks. And Tim walks out of the training room and he has a a prepared statement. He says, “We want to thank Nick Beava for costing us this series.” And like you could get Tim to say anything. Like you get Tim to say anything. And Goran was the same way. And of course Goran when you went up to uh they went up to the the bubble and we knew who had COVID. We knew it was Nun and Bam, but it wasn’t supposed to be released. And Goran’s like, “Oh, yes.” When Kendrick and uh you had the three words, if I’m honest, like you were like, “Oh, if I’m honest.” If I’m honest, he could not not be honest. Like he could not not be honest. And that’s So that’s why you love Nico. I love I love I just I love I love all of his vibe, man. Like I love the way that he’s just like he seems just like he takes in the life of an NBA player with so much joy. He’s given fist bumps to everybody when he warms up and he’s just so unique. They haven’t had anybody like this. It’s such an interesting project. It is interesting. This is the most international the Heat have been in a while because you mentioned that honest thing because your question of Fontio was really funny where he’s like, “Yeah, you know, I I studied Duncan Robinson, you know, but I’m more than a shooter because I wasn’t a very good shooter.” I was like, nobody else would like it. That’s just that’s like nobody would say that if if they were American. It just feels like that’s just uniquely Euro that they would just be like, “Yeah, you know, I I can’t consider myself a shooter cuz I was a terrible shooter.” So, well, I I I love the European tilt that they’re taking only because they I know Spo threw this at Brady that he would have to look up Martin Murice uh at who he was, which which by the way, Muricep was the guy that basically convinced Pat to never bring in European players ever again. Him and and chain smoking Sasha Denilovich. Um the two of them. and neither of them worked out and now all of a sudden like it’s the United Nations there and I don’t know exactly this has got to be an Adam Simon thing because I I don’t I don’t know where this has come from. Yeah. And I I guess like two of the guys are technically you know American college players but still it’s cool. I like it. I think it’s I think it brings a good vibe to the team. But the thing I just like about Nico I just think he’s such a unique player. Like he’s 6’11. He it can get the ball. He loves to pass for like even in his first preseason games when he was a string bean was just like like whipping the ball all over the place. I do think that, you know, he seems like he took strides defensively last year. And I don’t know, there’s just something even like there’s just something about him that’s just like a dog. And I like the fact that so many guys in this league are like looking for their place and they’re and and they feel entitled to things and that’s fine. But even like him after the season where like he comes back and he plays on a broken hand. And I thought like even the one game that was competitive that he brought that energy and kind of made it competitive and then like couldn’t hit a shot and turned the ball over and just ran out of steam because he hadn’t played a game in two months. And he’s just like, you know, I feel like I’ve let these guys down. You know, I don’t feel like I’ve lived up my end of the book. I’m like, how do you not root for a guy like that? And so I just hope from from from the standpoint of this like I don’t know if he’s going to get an extension because I don’t know you know probably not because two of his seasons have been injured but I hope that we can at least get an answer this year of like is he a piece of the future or not. That’s I think he deserves that. I think we deserve that cuz I think he’s a fun interesting player and I kind of feel like we were heading there right before the handbreak this year and I’m not here to say that it ruined the season cuz certainly there were plenty of things that ruined the season but I think it was one of the unfortunate things that happened that was positive and and Brady and I talk all the time like he’s my one of my favorite parts to watch about the team because he’s a bit of a mystery box and and with a team that’s been pretty predictable it needs that. I want him to be healthy next season. But here’s the last thing I just want to say because you keep calling him Tall Goran. Can they use him like Tall Goron? Like can they not just like stick him in the corner or put him in these different spots like if he’s if I’m looking at this roster and there’s no backup point guard because let’s say Casper is not that guy this year. Nico needs to be your backup point guard. He needs to be the guy with the ball in his hands. If you have Norman Pal coming off the bench because Wiggins is at the three, it’s even better to play Nico at the one and let Pow be your score. Like I just think if you because when you keep mentioning Goran and Goran wasn’t a playmaker first. So it’s not the exact same archetype as as Yoic, but I want him just to have the ball in his hands way more than he has been. It’s that that’s more so when I hear leaning young, it’s not like just throwing all your young players out there and just playing it. Like I just want the young players to be like heavily involved in the offense to make it look different than Kyle Anderson isolations, you know? I just want Nico to be at the podium so we can get him to say interesting things. That’s that’s really it’s really all all I care about at this point. Brady, at some point you’ll learn that because that that’s really all that matters is just just have interesting people. They can lose 61 games. Just be interesting. Uh Tobin, we appreciate you. Follow them on of course on 560 WQAM. Brendan Tobin. Brady and I’ll be back with more episodes. I’m heading out to Vegas. I don’t know why. 112 degrees out there all week long. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
My number for Tyler is 4/160
Bring thy steed!
That Lowry package was infuriating. I hope they don’t repeat that with Rozier
The collab we needed: 5rsn
X Tobin
Question: How would it feel to give Tyler 50 million???
Yall crazy. Miami became complacent with Jimmy. They was supposed to make more moves
If you want 22 year old Jimmy, get Benedict Mathurin
Pelle outplayed JJ last year as a rookie, so it's not a this summer thing…
I’m with Tobin. Wiggins needs to stay with this team. We need his defense. They tried to make him a 2nd scoring option and put too much pressure on him. Give it a year. I’d trade Jaime and Terry if anything
Jaime needs to work on dribbles, his bag, and his verticle thats what stopped his growth..every time he would try and go to the rim he would get the ball stuffed.
Also… the Jimmy bs started because of Tobin.. If he never asked Pat that question Jimmy wouldn’t have been that upset
with Ware, it is a motor issue, he has to play more intentionally CONSISTENTLY…he has the physical skills but he has to make his minutes matter…
Nice collab gents!
Dope pod!
