THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD! 2024-25 Panini Mosaic Basketball Hobby Box Review

A few weeks ago, Panini announced the return of 2024 25 Mosaic Basketball and it came with some big changes. People were very excited for it. People were hyped up for the color blast to be added into this and then disaster followed. The first off the line Dutch auction just happened like twoish weeks ago, a week and a half ago. And those boxes sold out for a whopping $650. And I’m not going to sugarcoat it, guys. That is a ridiculous price for these. It is act actually sickening that they sold out at that price for uh two parallels numbered to 25 or less and like um a autograph that’s numbered to 25. Like they’re they’re cool parallels, but is it worth that? Absolutely not. Um then in comes regular hobby. So these boxes were slated for around $300, $325 a box only a few weeks ago on release or uh for pre-sale. And with the inflation of first off the line going at $650, these are now up for $550 a piece on Panini’s website. Are these worth it? Absolutely not. But we are going to rip one anyways and see if we can hit something. Let’s get into it. [Music] Hey guys, what’s going on? It’s Andy with Acme Packs and I welcome each and every one of you back for a new video. Today we are going to talk a little bit about 202425 Mosaic Basketball uh hobby. So this box I I don’t even know what to say guys. I’m I’m very very disappointed in how this box has come to market and how things are being handled with this one. So, if you guys followed the Dutch auction for this, like I said in the intro, these sold sold out at a whopping $650 a box. Absolutely not worth it for the types of parallels that you were going to get. Um, even at that um even at that price point, I was hopeful that these boxes wouldn’t sell for more than like $400 a piece. And now here we are on release day. These are coming out at $550 a box. That’s more than select. $100 more than select. That’s $200 or not 200 um about 150 more than Prism currently and about on par with what Deca Basketball has risen to and Deca Basketball has been one of the better products of this year. So, does Mosaic stack up against Prism and Select? No, it doesn’t. And it never has and it never will. The singles market, I I always love Mosaic basketball. I love it. It’s always been a great budget pro uh Chrome product to get in sort of at that like between that upper middle and um product tier um with some nice changes this year. People were excited for it. Now people aren’t very excited for it with the uh current price tag. So yeah, it it is what it is. The market you might respond to this one and we’ll see what happens. I I fully expect this to drop down to the level of select being in that, you know, just north of 400 price range, but you put in a case hit and all of a sudden or a desirable case hit like a color blast and all of a sudden it’s a $550 box. I absolutely don’t believe that. I think this is some price manipulation by both Panini and some very, very big breakers out there that sold out the first off the line and it’s unfortunate. Okay, my rant’s over. Sorry for the rant. If you guys, you know, skip that whole rant, that’s fine by me. Sorry for that. I just had to get it off my chest. But big changes this year. 15 cards per pack, only three cards per pack or three packs per box in this uh two autographs. So, that’s nice. Up from one autograph. Uh very nice changes. You get a handful of numbered cards out of here. They’ve continually made this product better and better. One one of my gripes was always that the base cards were a little bit too much in both NFL and in uh basketball. I think this is a sweet spot for it. About 45 cards in here, two autographs. Handful of numbered cards. Looking for rookie jersey autographs which were added this year. Great addition. Looks like there are logo mans on here or in here for the RPA um according to the uh preview cards and everything. Then add a new this year ultra rare color blast. So they are doing that because they might not get out like spectra this year. Um so then you also have the contenders optic set in here as well. Uh and more so and more is um the micro mosaic in here and the mosaic stained glass are all going to be nice case hits coming out of here. And then looking for the stunning purple snake skin and gold snake skin. So pretty cool there. Here is the checklist on the back for any of you guys that are looking to get into some of these. You have short prints with the mosaic honeycomb and glitter. And then you have numbered cards down from 249 down to one of one black. So, without any further ado, let’s take our shot at one box. I’m not going to be happy about it. Actually, I will be happy about it if I hit an ice card, but I am not happy ripping this box at $550. It is not worth it, guys. I I I don’t know. I I truly think that this box should come down. And if it doesn’t, it is just, you know, the hype of the product. It is what it is. All right. All right, guys. So, one thing that is very, very cool this year there. So, for instance, this is the base design. If you guys have not seen it, it’s got a laser parallel. I am assuming that is hobby exclusive. There will most likely be uh retail for this, but this is probably hobby exclusive. Um, sorry that I’m just getting to the rip now at 6 minutes. I’m sure I’ll get some comments. Look at that. Luca and a Lakers jersey. That’s what we’re looking for. I forgot about that. That’s awesome. Titus Jones. There’s LeBron Scoot. We got KD City Edition, Wem City Edition, year two, Nola Jokic, red Aaron Gordon. So those are non-numbered hobby exclusive. Cool. Not sure where the autos or anything are in these, but we got Keiante George on the silver. And our first one is going to be a Keegan Murray, or our first numbered card is going to be a Keegan Murray. We got So looks like three numbered cards in a row. That’s pretty cool. Um, yeah, pretty cool. I don’t know. Oh, yeah. No, uh, no auto yet. Keegan Murray there. We got Nicolola Jokic on the orange. That is probably a higher number. Yeah, to 249. I like where they put the numbering at top there, right above the name. And then we got an Aaron Gordon there. Uh, Kia Murray was to 199, so that’s blue. And then we’re going to have a Stormchasers of Dalton Connect. Aaron Gordon was 275. So that’s like a copper. And then we’re going to have a montage of Paulo on the blue to one any. So what I’m noticing right right off of our first pack, lots of numbered cards. That’s very very nice. Uh Stormchasers Connect is not numbered. That’s surprising. But that is just you know a standard insert in this product. Um used to be like a case hit in football and stuff. I believe it’s only hobby though. It’s hobby exclusive. So, we got four number cards out of that first pack. So, if that is, you know, the um if that’s the norm, not terrible. I mean, it means that it’s shorter print this year if you’re getting like 12 numbered cards a box. All right. Kell Jones. We got Kase Wallace. Malik Monk there. I like the Lasers. What do you guys think of the Lasers? Oh man, Chris Middleton in a Wizards jersey. That looks so weird to me. I don’t like that. Tobias Harris. We got Reed Shepard on the city edition. Like that. All right, we have a we have a contenders auto. Very nice for the Raptors. It’s going to be Jacobe Walter. Not bad. Not the best, but very cool that they have contenders autos in here. That is the variation. So, I’m that makes me assume that there’s going to be no contenders optic this year for basketball. Uh, Scoot going to have Christian Brown on the red, Bobby Portoris, silver. Pink is going to be Scotty Barnes. We are getting kind of cooked right now to be honest. Um going to have Andre Jackson year two to 175 there on the Scotty Barnes and Tyler Smith for the Bucks. Um on the orange that is to 249. There’s another Reed Shepard and a bank shot of WBY. Not numbered there, but cool. So we are getting a lot of number cards. I I like that about this product. That’s that’s very nice. Um, so far we are getting kind of cooked. We have not gotten really any numbered rookies, unfortunately. So, at $500 a box, this is turning out I I can already see the future on this one. We got our last pack here. This is a case hit or bust product at that price. At the price that it was supposed to come out at, $325. No, it’s not a case hit or bust. $550 though. Case hit or bust. Okay. Damontis Sabis. I’m not even going to fan the cards because I don’t know what all this looks like yet. We got De’arren Fox there. Cam Johnson. Got Steph on the city edition. I like the City Edition. That’s cool. Auto. It’s going to be Harrison Ingram for the Spurs. Dusted on our autos. Um, we got LeBron Matas Buzzel on the red. That’s probably our best card of the day. Take a look at that one. Yeah. N I forgot. Non-numbered red. Not numbered red. I got really excited for a second. H is what it is. Harrison Ingram. I mean, not the worst. Definitely not the worst, but not the best signers that Panini has to offer. NBA greatates of Trace McGrady. We’re going to have Andrew Nemhard on the purple. Uh Saloon, that’s not bad. That on the blue. Nemhard was to 99. Salo there to 199. We got Wendell Carter Jr. We got a uh stair masters. Is this a This might be a white mosaic here. These are to 25 if it is. Is it a white montage of Donovan Mitchell? I think that’s a white mosaic montage. Yeah, 21 of 25 on that one. It’s a nice looking card. That’s a very nice looking card. Okay, so my thoughts on this. Number one, Luca is in a Lakers jersey. That is a huge plus. You have a another good chase in here. Number two, get a lot of numbered cards. You get a lot of numbered cards in here. I think that is a huge plus for this product. I mean, we got one, two, three, uh, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. 10 number cards out here. That’s pretty good. So, solid on the amount of hits that you get with the two autos also. Um, handful of non-numbered inserts, too. That’s nice. Yeah, two autos. Nice mosaic inserts. Stormchasers there. Connect. Aaron Gordon, Keegan Murray, Nicole Joic, Tyler Smith, Andre Jackson, Scotty Barnes, Donovan Mitchell, Saloon, and Andrew Nemhard. So, we unfortunately got kind of kind of cooked on this box. Um, but at $550 a box, that’s going to happen more often than not, unless you are one of those lucky people that hits one of those three case hit inserts being the micro mosaic, the stained glass, or the color blast. Um, going to be very, very cool case hit inserts in here. That’s part of why the price rose to what it did. Um, but definitely not worth it at the $550 a box. Um, at 325, this would have been an amazing product. People would have been going nuts for this stuff. Unfortunately, first off the line really took a lot of the luster out of this product for me. Um, I think this should have been $200 cheaper. And, you know, that’s just the way it is. I still wanted to show you guys off the product while also telling you guys my honest feelings on it and how I do not believe that this product deserves the big price increase that it does. Is it a good product? Yes, it is a fun product. It is good. Um, lots of hits, lots of number cards, just not at the price that it’s at currently. I would wait on it. Hopefully, it comes down hopefully it comes down to that select level because at this price point, I would rather open Select for $150 cheaper. But that is my rant for today, guys.
