Jeremiah Fears on first game, adjusting to NBA | 2025 NBA Summer League Postgame

We will ask you this again in preseason and probably again this regular season game. What was it like actually uh being out there? Man, it was it was super dope. Um going out there compete, got to play with a lot of my new teammates for the first time and we was going to we went out there, we played hard and we did what we could do. What did you think of DQ’s second half? I mean, you you start the way he does. It’s it’s very easy to, you know, probably put your head down and and and have a bad game, but I mean, the way he bounced back in the second half was pretty impressive. He just continued to be resilient. Um, we’ve seen it a ton in these last couple practices. So, him continuing to keep his keep his um confidence and continuing to keep going, keep continue to keep his motor as well, which something that a lot of our teammates can learn from as well, and he’s going to continue to bring that every single game. I mean, it’s still very early in the process, but what are some of the key like differences you’re noticing with the NBA style of play versus what you were doing in college? Um, really just continuing to go out there, do what you do. Um, and I’ll say the biggest thing is probably length. It’s just a lot taller. Um, a little more athletic, but other than that, still basketball at the end of the day. What encouragement has Porter Moser given to you over the last couple weeks? Man, he’s g me a lot of encouragement. Um, he’s continued to reach out, text and call me still. So, that’s super that’s super cool that he continued to reach out. Um, and he’s just been telling me just continue to do what I do. Continue to trust your work and continue to put in work. What do you hope to accomplish in the summer league here? What ways can you help you get better? Um, just learning from every single game. Every game uh is going to be a lesson. So, continue to take something away from every single game and carry it on to the next game. Does it still feel like a dream being in the NBA now? What’s it feel like? Man, it feels real now. I had my first game and I was out there um made some pretty good plays and we play we played pretty hard. I see y’all doing a little chirping in that first half. How much can you kind of enjoy that stuff when guys are going at it? Man, that’s that’s something that you live for. Um, just seeing somebody else that had the same passion as you and they take the game so serious and I mean it brings passion to the game as well. Continuing having somebody you can talk to, have somebody you can turn to and y’all get each other going and it’s motivation. What do you keep DQ to kind of get it going in the second half? Uh, just continuing to keep his head. Um, keep playing with the motor he got and just keep going. How impressed are you with his uh off the dribble game at his size and just kind of the way he can face up and do what he does? It’s crazy. Um especially at that size. You don’t see many many dudes being able to to kind of make those type of moves and to kind of be able to pick your spots and you can either play on the perimeter or in the post. So, I mean that’s that’s something that I kind of take away from his game and I tell him like, bro, just continue to do what you do. Keep your head no matter what it is next play mentality. How much of do you think the turnovers as a team was just you guys got to spend more time getting used to playing with each other? Yeah, that’s that’s definitely that was definitely a key factor um for this game. We gonna continue to go back to the gym. We gonna watch family. We gonna get better.

  1. Dude can get to the paint and draw fouls against NBA caliber talent (TWolves had 5 legit NBA players play). That oop to Missi was amazing vision and touch. Fears will be a monster.

  2. are we doing here? No balance, no clear identity.

I just hate seeing a young PG like Fears get drafted into a crowded backcourt. Now he’s gotta fight for minutes instead of just developing naturally. He’s gonna have to really prove to the coaches that he deserves that #1 PG spot. And honestly… he does. But they better not stunt his growth.
