Why Are The Dallas Mavericks Doing This?

Why Are The Dallas Mavericks Doing This?

Remember when the Dallas Mavericks did this? And 2019 Rookie of the Year is Luca Donets. 2 seconds. Dod for the win. Luka Don. Wholesome, right? Enough to bring a grown man to tears. Don’t lie, we were all cutting onions that day. Some would even say it was a classy moment because despite trading Luca Donuch, the Mavericks showed how much they still love him as an organization. And while we never questioned how much the fans loved Luca Donuch, Nico Harrison, on the other hand, um I did know that Luca was important to the fan base. I didn’t quite know to what level. And you know that thing I said about the Maverick’s organization being classy about the departure of Luca Donuch. Yeah, that was a lie. Because don’t be fooled by that little 3minute video that they had ready for a nationally televised game. Because in every other instance, Dallas have found a way to be petty, untoward, and honestly embarrassing about the departure of Luca Donuch. And when I say departure, the most shocking trade in NBA history. A trade he did not ask for. He did not even hint at asking for. But despite that, Dallas have for some reason made it their mission to try and erase his name from their history books. Oh no, I’m being serious. It’s really, really strange what is happening. Right here was a tweet from the Mavs film room showcasing a memorabilia box titled The Road Ahead from 2018 to present. I’m trying to think of who was drafted in 2018. Actually, I was going to make a joke about their second round pick being some scrub who’s out of the league, but they drafted Jaylen Brunson and Luca Donic in the same draft. But as incredible as Jaylen Brunson has turned out, there is a reason this date starts in 2018, it is because of Luca Donuch, who was quite literally the beginning of a new era. Hence why it was titled 2018 to present. And the reason I know this is because when they initially made this memorabilia box, it was titled Mav’s Magic. And as you can see, you have 1, two, three, maybe even four items in there that are all tied to Luca. And rightfully so. In 7 years, he became the second greatest maverick ever and was the beginning of a new era. Well, immediately after the trade, that all changed with every piece of memorabilia associated to Luca Donuch gone. Disappeared like nothing ever happened. And I know what you’re thinking. That’s just one little thing. it’s not really that important. And whilst that is true, it even makes sense to shift towards the future, prioritizing Derek Lively, Kyrie Irving, all of these guys that are with your current team. But you couldn’t at least keep one of the Luca photos. You couldn’t at least keep one piece of memorabilia from the player who symbolized an entire new era, from your second best player in franchise history, erasing it all in a matter of days. But the reason I’m making this video isn’t because they removed his cutout from a memorabilia box ever since Luca was traded. Let me remind you against his will without him knowing. It has been move after move after move by Dallas to tarnish his name initially and now they’re just trying to erase him completely. And this became apparent immediately after the trade when the Mavs did another very strange thing, blurring Luca out of their promotional video. They didn’t cut him out or change the clip. They blurred him out. If that’s not the definition of petty, I don’t know what is. And all of this was done with so much haste. None of us were expecting them to put Luca Donuch in the promo videos for the 2026 season. But you could have given your fans just some time to absorb what had happened. And let me state the very, very obvious. This is nothing to do with Maverick’s fans. I mean, they mourned the loss of Luca like a country would mourn the loss of a great leader. I have never seen the level of outrage, sadness, disbelief for a player being traded or moved from a team possibly ever. But instead of trying to find some middle ground with the fans, after Nico Harrison and the owners both acknowledged that Luca was clearly more important than they had calculated, instead of trying to find that middle ground, the organization has just decided to double down on the trade. Just look at this report. Only a week after Luca had been traded. No Donich gear could be found in any of the team stores inside the arena, even at a discount. By the All-Star break, the team’s pregame highlight video featured little to no images of Donic, even in the background. And all of this is stuff that we know and have evidence of happening. How about the reports that came out about Luca’s weight, Luca’s conditioning? Do we think that was a coincidence? Do we think all of these reports came from a mysterious source who wasn’t really attached to the Dallas Mavericks? No. This all came from the Dallas Mavericks who wanted to tarnish his name after realizing that the rest of the NBA thought they were foolish for trading him in the first place. So, they had to think, “What can we do to make ourselves look less foolish? Oh, I know. He’s got a drinking problem. He’s got a gambling problem. He’s too fat. He’s too lazy. He’s hard to work with. He’s a selfish player. Name everything under the sun.” All of these things about Luca Donuch were said in the matter of days after he was traded. Is that just a coincidence? I don’t think so. And the worst part is after all of this, Nico Harrison has the audacity. The audacity to say something like this. Your relationship and the fans after everything this past season. You know, we’re we’re in win now mode and we have a really good team and Cooper adds to that. So, I think the fans finally start to see the vision. No, you did not have a vision. You got gift wrapped the first overall pick. And I have seen even people suggest oh that Nico was a genius. He’s playing 4D chess. Nico traded Luca for someone older. His whole idea was it was a win now move. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have traded someone 5 years younger if it wasn’t to win now for no additional first round picks. The only way they got Cooper flag was because the player he traded for, surprise surprise, Anthony Davis, got injured. And then he was gift wrapped with a number one overall pick despite finishing in the playin and being the definition of mediocrity. And again, I don’t blame Maverick’s fans or the organization for this. And I am very happy for them for getting Cooper flag, but Nico Harrison trying to take credit. the audacity of that when your move was solely about winning now and it failed so badly that you somehow got gift wrapped a generational talent. And let me just remind you guys some of the things that Luca did for the Dallas Mavericks. And again, this is not to remind the fans because they already know. But if any people working for the Mavs, Nico Harrison, if any of these people are watching this video, five team all NBA first team, five years in a row from his second year to his sixth, rookie of the year, NBA finals, NBA conference finals, 73 points in a game, one of the most iconic gamewinners ever. More iconic shots than you can even think of. I mean, Luca has so many iconic shots, you probably forgot about this one. Got to get it in. Here’s Luca. Gets it away. It’s gone. A dungeon dagger. And if you didn’t forget about that one, he probably forgot about this one. 4 seconds. Got it from Clea again. Late in the clock. In desperation, he and not just memories, but how about finance? Okay, if you don’t care about everything he did on the court, look at the value of the Mavs franchise when Luca was drafted and then look at it as he left. almost tripled in value with reports immediately after the trade that the franchise value had dipped as a result of the decision. That is the impact Luca Donic has had. You could at least not blur out his face when you’re making videos. I think that would be the least you could do for the second greatest player in your franchise’s history. That’s just Maya.

  1. Bro let's go! I was waiting for another vid. I hope something crazy happens with the Cooperflag Bronny match up tonight!🙏 sadly I can't watch it 😢

  2. This happened last year, last season and is OVER. This is a game folks, that you have zero to do with. Plus, these guys are making millions a year. 6Man, as I have told you many times I love your content. But, this kind of stuff reeks of the big name analysts throwing down never ending negativity.

  3. A bunch of grown men with their panties in a bunch shi is so pathetic he ain’t on the team no more tf ya want us to do??? Keep all his shi up? He ain’t win us shi boy. All this crying about Luka we got Flagg?😂

  4. So very true, but now I'm glad he's a Laker. His career will be so much bigger now than he or we could have ever imagined. Once the Laker clear out the weeds, Luka will shine brighter than ever before.

  5. I honestly feel bad for Cooper. The city won’t embrace him—not because of anything he’s done, but because this fanbase is done with the Mavs. The damage is deep. Most of us have walked away, and we’re not coming back, no matter how good the kid is. He deserves better.

What happened with Luka might be the most ‘Dallas’ thing ever—outsiders came in, made a bunch of business moves, and completely gutted something that was real, grassroots, and genuinely loved. It was one of the few authentic sources of civic pride in a place that doesn’t have it.

  6. i love kai and Ad but i can’t just digest to support the team anymore. i just hope kai leave these team cause i be praying for their downfall in the next 10 yrs

  7. This new look mavs team is insane ! I loved Luka like everyone else, but it’s time for the future. Barring injury I can’t think of a team who will definitely beat us in 7. This team is even built to stop championship Boston at its best. Almost Every player on the team is 6’6+. They’re one of the deepest, biggest, and most athletic defensive teams in the league. And the offensive genius in Jason Kidd has all the prefect pieces to create an insane offense. Understand that when kyrie is bac they have potential lineups that look like Kai, DLo, Cooper, AD, Lively😱🤯. That’s just the starting 5. The bench has even more ball handlers , more shooters, and more size. He can literally plug and play at will. He’s already instilled this “next man up” mentality. Them boys are ready. The only thing beating them is injury, and let’s not forget they swapped most of the training staff which us why Luka was nad too. A healthy mavs team is walking through OKC. If you watched the games last season you saw how much work they gave okc even without Luka. They actually lost the games with Luka and won without him while never being healthy in any matchup. I love Luka and I pray he comes bac when Nico leaves one day, but this is the best team we’ve had since 2011 and it’s built in a very similar fashion

  8. This is Mark Cubans fault he sold controlling interest of the team and was powerless to stop the trade. He sold 73% of the franchise in 2023 for 3.5 billion. He would of never endorsed that trade.

  9. Nico thinks we're going to forget. Even if we win 5 championships . It won't feel the same.dallas rarely get generational players. Win or loose , warts and all, luka was our guy.

  10. We really be actin like Luka led the Mavs to a title with the way they hate on this trade. Let’s be honest. The guy will never win anything in his career besides the most fatass award.

  11. Mavs management ought to have shown a little more class, but it is far from certain that trading him was the worst mistake in the history of history. There is enough fact showing to justify doubts of whether Luka is ever going to be the player he's been hyped to be. The year end, year out, MVP favorite. Maybe wait and see if he can come into training camp in shape. Whether he can get his 3 pt shot up to where it makes him a threat. Maybe show a little more maturity on the court.
