Isaiah Collier delivered a roller coaster of a performance in Utah’s thrilling 112 to 111 comeback win over the Grizzlies, flashing both the potential and the rough edges that define his young game. In just 20 minutes, Collier tallied 13 points, five assists, three steals, one block, and five turnovers on five of eight shooting. It was a tale of two halves, a jarring shift between forcing offense and embracing his identity as a floor general. Early on, Collier looked intent on proving he could be a high volume scorer, driving head first into traffic and challenging Memphis length at the rim. While his aggression netted some tough buckets, it also contributed to careless passes and five turnovers that disrupted Utah’s rhythm. His free throw struggles, three of seven, added to the frustration. But as the game wore on and the Jazz closed the gap, Collier began to resemble the player from USC who made teammates better. He made timely passes, read the floor well, and catalyzed Utah’s transition game. Defensively, his instincts popped, registering three steals and a chase down block that energized the home crowd. His shift back to facilitating helped unlock Ace Bailey and Bryce Sensib during Utah’s lateg game push. It wasn’t clean, but Collier’s flashes on both ends are why the Jazz remain high on his long-term upside.
