Chicago Bulls TRADING For This Center To Replace Nikola Vucevic? Bulls Rumors!
What’s going on, Bulls fans? Welcome into the Bulls Report. My name is Patrick Seman and coming up on today’s show, could the Bulls be targeting a Nicola Vevich replacement in Sun Center Nick Richards? I’m actually would be a big fan of a straightup swap of Vu for Nick Richards, but we’ll talk about that on the first half. And then also later, I hate throwing the word tank out there because it’s just a loser mentality, but I think with how stacked the 2026 NBA draft class is, the Bulls might need the tank or at least just get out of that play in purgatory. Either go all in, try to make the playoffs, get some good experience for the young guys or kind of just take it on the chest and say, “Hey, we’re not going to be that good this season. Let’s try to tank and get a potential top three pick.” We’ll go over three uh prospects at in the 2026 NBA draft that could really change the franchise here in Chicago. But summer league is here. Um when you guys are seeing this video, Bulls just played the first summer league game on Friday night. Um but if you guys are excited for summer league hoops, I love watching it. Um maybe it’s just cuz it’s a dead time of the sports calendar and any sports action I can get, I get fired up about it. But if you guys are excited for Bulls summer league hoops, go down there and hit that thumbs up icon. Let’s see if we can get up to 300 likes on today’s show. All right, so NBA insider Mark Stein reported this saying that Nick Richard, uh, Nick Richards, excuse me, is available for a trade. Now, with the Suns, they traded for Mark Williams during the NBA draft. He also took Mal Watch at pick number 10. So, they have a, you know, three-headed monster at the center position, all athletic, all defensive minded. And Nick Richards is on an expiring deal. He’s just got one year for $5 million left. So, it’ll be interesting to see if this is a vouch for Nick Richards trade, how they try to match that extra 15 million on Vu’s salary. But in terms of just Nick Richards, what he would bring to the Bulls, he is the archetype that I would love at the center position. A guy who’s a great lob threat, a great athlete. He can also protect the rim at a decently high level. But here are stats over the last four seasons. Pretty consistent. Just floating around, always nine points, eight rebounds a game. Stayed fairly healthy over the last four years. obviously missed time here and there, but I will say in terms of just, you know, Nick Richards and what he would bring to the Bulls compared to Vu where Vu is that, you know, four spacing, good screen setting, typical fiveman who, you know, definitely has lapses defensively, which you all know about and you still think Vu overall on the basketball court is a negative where Nick Richards, he would play a more condensed role, especially offensively compared to Vu, where he would just be that big man diving to the rim, catching some lobs for this team. But I also do think a Nick Richards, Nicole VHovich trade could help spark a rebuild for the Bulls because Vu is a better player than Nick Richards right now. V is a walking 18 and 10. Whatever you think about him, you can’t really disagree with that. And I think when you would have a guy like Richards join this young Bulls center rotation of, you know, Zack Collins and Jaylen Smith, like it’s nothing to write home about. And the Bulls definitely take a, you know, a hit offensively with this deal and it could help him spark a rebuild because also Richards is still on an expiring contract. Now maybe the Bulls have to take on another deal for the Phoenix Suns and make this work. Hopefully it’s an expiring contract. But if you would have both these guys, Richards and Collins on expire and then Jay uh Jaylen Smith with only one uh more year left, you open up a massive spot at the center rotation where maybe next year in the draft if you don’t land a top five pick. You could float around that 5 to 12 range where there are some good athletic defensive-minded centers coming out. So you would have a massive hole there. But I also think Nick Richards like you’d be taking on a flyer on a guy who if he ends up working out like that archetype of center is the big I would want with the Bulls young court. Again, defensive minded guy. Think like prime Clint Capella with the Houston Rockets where he was just catching lobs, running that pick and roll with James Harden. You’d see the same thing here with Josh Giddy and also just be a better defender like Nick Richards can move his feet on the perimeter. when you know uh Stacy King would always say switch a vouch when teams would just pull VooC up in the pick and roll. They would just attack him off the dribble. Now you would be able to do that somewhat with Richards but not to the extent that teams are doing it with Nicovich. And you know honestly I’m not Yeah, at this point I’m not like begging the Bulls to trade Vu since he is on an expiring deal. But, you know, Vu can still win you a couple games here and there where Nick Richards, even though I think he would be a better fit, we would definitely take a hit this year, which again could help spark a rebuild here in Chicago. But if you guys want the Bulls to trade V, hit me with a me down below in the comments section. I feel like this is going to be a deal where they probably won’t trade him till the deadline. Get like a second round pick for him and we’ll be all disappointed. Then we’ll have that graphic of like, oh, the Bulls could not get a first round pick for Vu, Caruso, Lonzo, Lavine, Demar, and you know, just seeing that haul that they get back because the Bulls, they love to make moves. Almost two years too late. Um, it’s just what it’s been in this organization for the last couple of seasons. But if you guys want the Bulls to trade vouch, hit me with a me down below. And we’ll talk about uh why the Bulls definitely need to consider tanking because this draft class is absolutely stacked in a second. But if you guys want to get a two-tier combo pack for $20 off, we got a sweet deal for you guys. Just head over to chatsports.com/bulls combo. Normally these are around $50, but right now they’re $29.99. I think they’re fresh. You can get a red, you could get a white. So if you guys want to take advantage of this, hit that link in the comments section and description of today’s show, chatports.com/bullscombo. Now, I hate throwing the word tank around, like I’ve said, because that’s just a loser mentality. That’s not a real thing in sports. um especially with these guys just trying to go out there, get good tape, get a good contract. So, it’s just tough to naturally tank. But you can kind of play around with your roster where, you know, trading a guy like Vu, for example, um you know, maybe getting off of Patrick Williams, even though Patrick Williams might have to keep him too tank, um with how bad he’s been, but overall the 2026 NBA draft class is just too stacked for the Bulls to not at least consider tanking. And you know, the Bulls run office, they’ve always talked about finding that guy, and this is how you find that guy. You tank, you try to land a top five pick. Now, the Utah Jazz tried to tank this past season. Um, was pretty blatant, but they weren’t able to get a top three pick. They’re around five or uh pick five in the draft, but still pick five for the Bulls. That’ll be their highest draft pick since they drafted Patrick Williams at pick number four back in 20 I think it was 2020 when they drafted Pub. But this draft class is too stacked. And you got three guys that I would consider that guy. Darren Peterson, six foot five guard out of Kansas, he can score at all three levels. He’s a freak athlete. I think, you know, even though Debansa, the BYU guard, forward wing. Um, even though he’s getting most of the love as being that generational prospect, I think Darren Peterson is that as well. Um, and if you guys remember like before this past college season, people were talking about, you know, Ace Bailey potentially taking over Cooper Flag. So, a lot can change. which obviously that ended up not even being close to the case, but also got a guy like Cam Boozer, 6’10, really reminds me of Paliban Carroll. But point being, if the Bulls can land a top three pick and land either of those players, that’s how you fasttrack a rebuild where then if we’re looking at this Bulls young core, if you do, you know, obviously we’re all assuming they’re going to bring back Giddy. If you have Giddy, you know, Kobe White, IO, Boozelis, and like a Camboozer, Debansa, Peterson, like that’s a very solid young core, then maybe you could go trade for that athletic- minded big, and then you would have a solid team where then it just comes down to development where it’s like, can Josh Giddy take that step where he’s a third or fourth option on championship team? Can, you know, Buzzelis potentially be a second option? You’re hoping that guy you draft next year could be the best player on the team, which I think Boozer, Peterson, and Deba all could be. And how fresh would it be if we could just dust off those Cameron Boozer or Carlos Boozer jerseys and have him rock it uh for Cam. This guy’s a stud. He’s 6’10. He’s got good handle. He’s moves so well for a size. And literally he is Paliban Carol. Very physical forward and gets to the rim. Put pressure on it at a very very high level. And he’s also got a sneaky good mid-range bag. Um but I think like all three of those guys could change the direction of the Bulls because right now you’re stuck in purgatory. You’re going nowhere. That’s why I hate saying, you know, the Bulls should tank. But you got to really consider it because let’s just say we look up at the trade deadline and the Bulls are five games under 500. Like start, you know, sending away a couple of key players. You’re going to lose a lot of games. But that could also give you a chance to develop the young guys. Like get more Don Terry, Julian Phillips, you know, minutes out there. Just anything you can to help yourself land a top five pick because it all comes down to finding that guy. If you don’t have that guy in the NBA who’s a true number one option, it’s just tough to win, you know, basketball games. It’s tough to compete in the NBA for titles, unless you have a true top 10, top 12 player in the world. So, we’ll wait and see how the Bulls play this out. Again, if I had to call my shot, we’re probably in the playin tournament yet again for a fourth straight season. Lose to the Heat three straight years. It’s just uh nothing ever changes for us Bulls fans, but hopefully it does. But if you guys made it to the end of today’s show, hit me with a C red down below in the comment section. Blockbuster trade with Nick Richard’s in the thumbnail lol, love the content!
Your negativity doesn’t change either!
Me
I heard Jevon Carter for Richards not Vooch but I think he's a good back up center
More Chicago Bulls B S so tired of them. I will never attend another bulls game. Pacer and bucks are the future for me
I think the Bulls are tanking, even if they won't admit it. This team is younger and they'll be bad. I think if we get Vuc out, we'll have a shot at a good pick. Any of the top 3 picks would be awesome to pair with Buzelis.
