What’s going on with Male Bridges? Why has he not signed a contract extension with the New York Knicks? Let’s talk about it on today’s show. You’re watching Next Now by Chat Sports. I am your host, Marshall Green. At this very moment, Male Bridges could put pen to paper to sign a 4-year deal worth $156 million to remain a New York Knick. And for some reason, it has not happened. Is it because the Knicks haven’t offered him a deal? Is it because Muel Bridges doesn’t want to sign it? Or both sides are further apart than they would like? An average annual value for a 4-year $156 million deal is $39 million per year. That is about the 40th to 50th high 50th highest paid player in the NBA. And male Bridges is not a top 50 player.

He's easily our most well rounded player we have. Brunson and KAT might have a better bag, OG might have better defense, Josh might have more hustle BUT MIKAL BRIDGES can do all of that.
Mikal guards the best guard on the other team, Mikal is expected by yall to score on the same level as Brunson and KAT but I like the game that he brought last season. Y'all hated on Thibs and we all heard Josh say at the beginning of the year that he doesn't know where he fits on offense. That means that we didn't have any system it was just get the ball and pretty much try to score or pass it.
Mikal averages what like 15-17 pts as the 3rd option in a system less offense, his shooting numbers aren't the best but they definitely improved as the season progressed and he got comfortable and he took it to another level in the post season. We "We built the team to beat Boston" and Mikal ended two of those games by stopping Boston's Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He also started making Haliburton a non factor with his full court press and off ball defense denying him the ball. We really got beat by Indiana because we couldn't stop Pascal and the other guys because we were unprepared.

Yall spent all season trashing this man and ignoring all the good he brought to the team, and now it's like "how come he doesn't like us". Why don't we all as a fan base try to support our team for once instead of trashing guys. We made it to the conference finals in the first time in decades and were a lucky bounce from the pacers in game 1 from making the finals. If that shot doesn't go in we have a better shot at the very least stretching it to 7 games.

Bridges is worth that and more in his first season he help this team get to the conference finals. The Knick haven’t been there in 25 years. And will most likely help us get the the NBA finals next year barring injuries.

What I don’t understand is how do you as franchise give up 5 first round picks and then you what to have him in trade discussion. He might not be a superstar but he is a star player that is valuable but you have him in trade discussions makes no sense

But I thought the Knicks had a wink wink deal with Bridges when bringing him over to the Knicks? Bridges is not worth 5x1st round picks.

Mikal Bridges is a great defender and excellent on the break. He struggled shooting last year but was improperly utilized in the offense. The hate is undeserved. He was the only one who played well in game 6 against the Pacers. Sign him. He is a core piece.
Maybe, and this is me just speculating here, but maybe he hasnt signed yet because THE KNICKS are using the valuable resource thst they have known as time to explore and evaluate all of their options and avenues of improving the team before locking down Bridges to a big money extension. Whether he signs tomorrow or in 3 months ultimately makes no difference to team or player in the grand scheme of things, so its actually the prudent thing for Leon Rose and Co. to use that time to sniff around at what type of moves could potentially be available before locking into the massive Bridges extension.
Theres basically no rush, and the team, not Bridges delaying the deal while they are exploring all their options not only makes total sense to me, but seems like the only smart choice an executive cam make.
