The Celtics defeated the Grizzlies, 92-78 tonight in Boston. Jordan Walsh contributed a team-high 17 points to go with 3 rebounds 3 three pointers and 2 assists, with Charles Bassey of the Celtics adding an additional 14 points (7-8 FG) and 11 rebounds in the game. GG Jackson finished with a team-high 16 points along with 4 rebounds for the Grizzlies in the losing effort. The Celtics improve their record to 1-0 with the win, while the Grizzlies fall to 0-1.

    A positive showing for Hugo. Hit some 3s, made good decisions when he needed to, and as usual brought his unbelievable motor and intensity with him. He still shoots a bit of a moon ball and his process as a scorer really is too rough for my liking, but he’s improving. I have questions about his shooting, and while he is an above average athlete, I don’t exactly know if he uses his tools and motor in the best way, mental wise. He’s still not a good ball handler or finisher, and outside of shooting spot 3s and some connective playmaking, on offense he’s fairly limited. On defense, im positive he’ll be impactful. I do think he should avoid having lapses on defense as he can’t afford that with his offensive issues. I’m curious to see if the shooting and decision making holds up. This game his decision making was better than it was at the youth levels (16s and 17s) or Real Madrid. He doesn’t make advanced reads as a defender, and before this game I thought his decision making can be up and down.

    Was impressed with Hugo and Bassey today. I think with confidence, Hugo can become a great shooter. With Bassey, if he can consistently do what he did tonight throughout summer league I would try to get him on a two way deal. Btw, wtf was that that from Scheierman?!?!?!

    Amari Williams’ path in this league has got to be the Clint Capela/Isaiah Hartenstein archetype. His passing is good and he has some strong defensive tendencies, but will he be the rebounder that Boston needs him to be?
