Grading the Last 5 Milwaukee Bucks 1st Round Picks #nba #nbadraft #bucks

Let’s grade the last five Milwaukee Bucks first round picks. Maybe the worst drafting team in the NBA right now. So, they took AJ Johnson out of the NBL with the 23rd pick in a week 2024 class. A player that was somewhat of a project prospect for a team that had to win now around Giannis and Damen Lillard. I’m giving this pick just to see. They also use this player and Chris Middleton and a future pick swap to get Kyle Kosman last year at the deadline. I think AJ Johnson is a fine player. Just didn’t fit what Milwaukee was trying to build at the time. They had the 24th pick back in the 2022 draft and they selected Marjan Bochamp out of the G-Wig Ignite. I got to give this pick an F. I feel like we were waiting year after year for Bo Champ to break out. I will give him the benefit of the doubt though just because I don’t think Milwaukee did him any favors with their rotations with him during his time there. This is definitely the best pick so far. Dante Devenzo was the 17th overall pick in the 2018 draft. I’m going to give this an A minus. He’s turned into a great player in the NBA for somebody that went outside the lottery and was a rotational player when they won the finals in 2021. But they also had the 17th pick in the 2017 draft. I’m going to give this grade an F. It was DJ Wilson out of Michigan. You can never really find his footing on the offensive end of the floor. And then they the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft. A massive wild card selection here. Thon Maker. They basically thought this was going to be the next Giannis. It didn’t work out. He only spent two and a half years in Milwaukee before getting traded to the Detroit Pistons. The Bucks have had a very interesting drafting philosophy over the last few years. And they worked out a ton by getting Giannis, maybe one of the best draft picks in NBA
