Grading the Last 5 Jazz 1st Round Picks #nba #nbadraft #jazz

Let’s grade the last five Utah Jazz first round picks excluding the 2025 class, but shout out to them getting Ace Bailey. So, it’s actually only two drafts we’re talking about. They two first rounders in 24, three first rounders in 2023. We’ll start off with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 draft. They selected Cody Williams, the younger brother of Jaylen Williams out of Colorado. He did not look great in his rookie year. Unfortunately, I do have to give this one a D since Montas Buzzel went one pick later, but they made a much better selection with the 29th overall pick. They selected Isaiah Kier out of USC. He fell way too far in this draft. He was one of the best playmakers and passers as a rookie in his first year, giving this one a B+. Tremendous value with the second and last pick in the first round in a weak draft. And then they had three first rounders in the 2023 NBA draft. The latest one was Bryce Sens, 28th overall out of Ohio State. He had some medical issues, but honestly, I wish he had more playing time in the NBA. He’s a good scoreer and he just shot 42% from three in year number two. He should have a much more involved role next year and I hope he does. I’m giving this one a B where it could be a nice buy low candidate for a different team in the NBA. And then they had the 16th overall pick and they selected Kee George, the combo guard out of Baylor, giving this one a B+. George last year averaged 17 points, four rebounds, five and half assists. He’s really impressed me as a playmaker in the NBA. I thought he was just going to be a score first guy, but he’s been a decent point guard. Then with the ninth overall pick, they selected Taylor Hendris out of UCF. He had a very promising end to his rookie year as a good three-point shooting stretch four, but he got a season ending injury in his third game as a sophomore. I’ll just give this one a C for now. Hopefully, he can go back to the player he was in March of 2024.
