Phoenix Suns Team Highlights vs Washington Wizards | Summer League 2025
Perfectly timed. You want to get You want to get your former first pick from a year ago off to a great start. Wow. An imperious drive by Ryan Dunn. It’s a little different here, Jonesy, to start this game. There are five players on the floor that had significant roles on the parent team a year ago. So, you’re a lot of NBA experience. Seven players picked in the first round on this summer league roster. Dun rejects the screen, goes baseline. Nice spray to the wing and the three ball is good by Kobe Bray of Sar back to Riley. Sar couldn’t get the pass back. It’s knocked away by Keshan George out of Miami. Malawatch on the bounce. Spins and fires. Nice looking left and he used all the irons. him. Speaking with Malawatch, he has a little secret as to how he improved his three-point shooting. There’s a corner three by Don. Get it off as he does right here because a lot of the players that’ll be guarding him are prone to rim protection. So, he’s going to have that outlet. He can drive that defender back hard to one direction or the other, get him back, pedaling, stop on a dime, and separate for the lean back. Bookie Ellis while out of USC. What do you make of the pace so far? Pretty clean and crisp, huh? Absolutely. I think it helps when you’ve got this much NBA experience on the floor. Guys who’ve been through it already, I think. Okay. You’re prone to rush it a lot more your first time through it. They have a two for one opportunity if they choose. And Leaky Black with the leaky handle gave it away. Threeon-one. Igotaro got chopped. And Ellis trying to get downhill looking for Dunn. Seven on the shot clock. Nice Cory into the lane and the dump down. Huntley turned up the base. Yeah, this is tough. First of all, it’s a nice find. Uh you’re getting later into the clock. Break your man down hit. You see right here has to go up and stay in the air that long through hands of defenders and ended up still getting to the rim. That was incredibly difficult dunk. I hear a hint of envy there. Top of the key screen and just run into a straight curl. A lot of times the backside will empty out because you’re worried about the three-point shot and the lob up top. Good. And another slam dunk. Nice show and go. That jumper short by Riley though into the front court. Collins finds Wood open the corner three as Buer. Tough contested jumper that time by Trey Johnson who so far in this ball game has seven points. Wood this time slamming it home. is reacting. It’s the perfect time to slip out of it without ever having to set the screen either for a roll or possibly spot up for a three. A lot of times last year the Suns used him to guard the other team’s best perimeter offensive threat. He missed the free throw but made good on the putback. When you see guys staring at the basketball when they release it from deep when you’re sure you’re staring at the rim. Great point. Collins on the midi knocks it home and Phoenix back up by nine points. off the drag screen. That three was pure. That’s the guy that you love watching shoot. Kobe Bray. Kobe Brea found the range early and often. He has 12 on the board, including three threes. Halftime. First team all rookie. Averaged 17 points a game over his last 15 to close the season. But he’s barely touched the ball here in the first half of this game. golf guard or something because you don’t necessarily have to have Formula 1 action. Okay. But you got to have something off the dribble as a counter. And Watkins really got off the floor on that contest by Bray. He thought he had a cleaner look than that. Watkins closed up that space. Tough shot. Got it. Collins on the cross. Crosscourt find to Bray. They run him off the three-point line. Goes to the mid-range and couldn’t convert. Done on the offensive glass and the putback. Make that into Darl. You want to give him a plaque or a trophy for first team all rookie. Show him that in the locker room. Guys remember this Bray with the 15-footer had something to do with Alex Sar being a lot more engaged offensively in this third quarter as Bray got a nice layup on this quarter and a conversion at the other end. Here’s Malawatch. This time they couldn’t block him. Well, he was still down that end and he’s up to 14 on the night. First round pick out of Texas. Tough fade away by Ryan Dunn. All about expanding your game here as a year two player in summer league. Try some things a little bit out of your comfort zone that you didn’t get a chance to do as a rookie. Bray a logo three. That’s pure baseline drift. One more. Carrington one more. That three comes off. Sar underneath battling for the offensive rebound. And Malaw said, “Hey, I got a little something for you this time.” Great international experience has helped him here tonight. Wood out top amid pick and roll. Pulls it back from 15. Wood got it to fall is a constant there. has been Devin Booker recently signing two-year extension and a nice slam on a hard roll to the bucket by Huntley. He’s had three of those tonight. Tim put that thing off the floor so it came up nice and high. Catches that. Look at that ball. I can’t unsee his his drive on I know. Listen, I know sometimes things that aren’t even look that pretty, if you do it enough, you’re going to have success. I think the Phoenix Suns. It might be another team whose front office he impresses and gets an opportunity with them and Ryan Dunn drills the three. I know you don’t just want to be another guy or have some success. So, if you want to be truly great, that’s exactly what it takes. That’s what your schedule looks like. An audacious deep three by Boogie Ellis. Ellis got a case of the Boogie Fever right now. Under control, but aggressive at the same time. That’s really the combination you’re trying to get here. You want to absolutely take advantage of the opportunities, but if you play out of control in a in a 20point game with five minutes to go, but it’s okay. Oh, Collins took it hard and got the finish. Brilliance here tonight. Yeah, he and Jones, he’s been turning the corner mostly tonight with his eyes scanning the floor to make other people better contested even though he had time to get that off. A little side step gets himself on balance so he can shoot with the left-handed finish that time on the rebound. Here’s the Wizards and Trey Johnson. Tough pass. Never made it. Threw it behind his teammate Johnson. Hollow Sar all over him. This time got the ballaro. driving baseline. Nice slug by Malawatch and he caught a body underneath. Malawatch was why not? There it is. Tim didn’t hesitate that time. Then hesitated on.
