Dillon Brooks on Joining Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns + “No BS” Mentality
being with the Suns and obviously you helped Houston get back there to where it used to be and now you got maybe the similar challenge. Yeah, I love the challenge. Um I feel like this has been written in stone uh since I was uh my second year where I where I thought I was coming and I didn’t end up coming. Um I love Phoenix. I’ve been over in the summers. I love when I play there. The gym is amazing. The people are great. I can’t wait to, you know, connect with the fans. um and you know bring that toughness, bring that urgency and um and you know be ready for the journey. What’s crazy about that is that when you played against Deon it was it was wars and he you guys really been at each other. Now what’s it going to be like him being a teammate? Uh I get to learn from him. He gets to learn from me. Um create more energy you know you know for the guys and um you know show them how I work. Um and I’m excited. you know, I feel like we got, you know, a great crew. You know, some young guys over there playing playing well. Um, and, you know, I’m ready to get to work. For the fans who have just seen the toughness on the court and just the the clips, how would you describe the mentality you kind of um no Um, I would say, you know, I don’t back down from anybody or anything. Everybody’s, you know, to me the same. And um you know I can’t wait to you know um get a technical file in um in uh is it is it called sticks? It’s still still called sticks. It’s a PHX now. It’s the PHX now. Okay. Okay. Sorry. Uh in the PHX um you know for them to go crazy. Uh so um you know I can’t wait. Um you know my toughness and my grit you know goes all around and um I hope it’s contagious for the team. This team has talked about kind of changing its culture and becoming tougher. just tell us about being one of those guys that’s kind of going to lead back up. Yeah. Um, you know, defensive minded. Um, you know, overall, you know, I like, you know, to hit bang, you know, tussle. So, um, you know, just having me, I feel like on the team, you know, is going to bring more confidence to the young guys, more confidence, bringing bring more back to the city. And, you know, I just, like I said before, I hope I hope it’s contagious. Dylan, how much do the the uh programs you were part of in Memphis and now Houston as well help in a transition like this where it’s another team looking to build up a culture and identity? Um it starts from the beginning. Starts with uh you know uh learning who you know coach A is you know um had a conversations with him. Um you know great person is going to be a great coach. Um start with the foundation. Um you know with defensive principles what we want to do. Let me finish with this one. How about the trade and what you think we going to do at the finish? I love the trade. you know, gives me and, you know, Jaylen an opportunity to showcase, you know, um, in Phoenix, you know, with with great fans. What you say? Motivation. Motivation. And then for you, for you, especially when we play Houston, it’s going to be a lot of motivation for you. Um, and, you know, I’m happy that, you know, we both came together. Dylan, to that point, you were a part of building up that process tonight. I know you know the league is a business, but was it frustrating to get dealt when you’re part of that ascension and you don’t get to see it all the way out? uh a little bit, you know, uh but you know, I like the opportunity here. Um like the guys here um and you know, overall um I like the challenge, you know, and um Phoenix, you know, really wanted me um you know, to bring that culture, to bring that, you know, that that toughness. And you know, I feel feel like I got open arms and um and just, you know, I’m ecstatic and working all summer. I think of it your most efficient shooting year last year. How do you feel like putting a foot in and this team that Jordan’s going to put together is going to elevate you? It’s going to be a lot lot a lot more threes. Um a lot more spacing. Um and we got a little bit of different principles that we that we have here now that we’re implementing. Uh different from Houston. So, you know, I feel like the the floor is going to be more spaced. I feel like I hope I get a little more threes up and um you know, keep being efficient on the on the offensive end. Dylan Dylan had a trivia that I wanted to ask you about, but do you remember the night where Marshawn Brooks was originally in a train? That’s what I said. Yeah. Can you give us your perspective on that that night? That was an odd night for us, too. Yeah, it was it was it was an odd uh time in Memphis, those towns. A lot of things were going on in in Memphis. Um, and that was my first time ever like feeling being, you know, close to being traded. Um, but that’s what I said. It was like almost written in stone for me to be being be um being in Phoenix. And at that time, you know, I was like a little hurt not understanding what’s going on. And, you know, Marawn is my my my vet. And, you know, he broke it down to me. Um, and, you know, gave me no hard feelings or any of that, you know. So, shout out to, you know, my boy Marawn for sure. everywhere you’ve gone, you’ve won. What is it about what you bring to the team that kind of changes the culture? Unselfishness. Um, I want guys around me to get better. Um, and learn from me what I, you know, obtained from, you know, going on my eighth year. Um, and then like just a relentlessness to always try to find a way to win. If it’s not my shooting night, I’m trying to get on the defensive end. If, you know, I’m, you know, not doing my best, I hope someone, you know, is able to pick me up as well. and just being that adrenaline energy um player that you know you can put me on the floor at any time and you know I can produce one of the big things for you any why is that so important you establish the team that you’re on um I would say you know I like to just leave my imprint you know it’s just something that comes natural um and you know when I’m on any team or if I feel like, you know, I’m playing pickup or whatever the case may be, it’s like that’s how I play like smashmouth, um, physical, in your face, um, and guys like that, you know, when they’re playing with you. Guys like that. Guys want to, you know, embody that as well. And you know even sometimes you know the quiet guys are starting to you know not be quiet no more and you know showing themselves and you know being comfortable and being confident and you know I feel like that’s what I embody and that’s why you know I like to give to you know each one of the teams that I’ve been on and now it’s going to be Phoenix always appreciate it.
Dillon Brooks is a notorious NBA villain, now he is on the Phoenix Suns. What should Suns fans be excited about after the Kevin Durant Houston Rockets deal that brought brooks to the Valley?

Honestly excited for Brooks to be a Sun. He is a good player and it’s been a while since the Suns had a total bastard that won’t back down from anyone on the court.
Dillon Brooks gonna bring that toughest that Suns needed last season
Houston going to have a worse record without Jalen and Dillon, especially when Durant gonna miss so many games
Dillon Brooks new him before suns got him this dude works hard i like that
I guarantee Jayden McDaniels won't be starting no B.S. with Booker now that Dillion Brooks is a Phoenix Sun.. 1:05
