NBA LIVE: Hornets vs Jazz 2025 NBA Summer League Full Game Charlotte Hornets vs UTAH Jazz 7/11/2025
It’s Miller in a shooting guard. Well, the past few seasons, the Jazz have become serious playoff contenders. You know, BA, with high expectations, they haven’t reached their goal. Now, this franchise definitely has their sight set on the ultimate prize, their first championship. Here’s Miller. Started by Markin. [Music] Baseline jumper. The rebound by Markin. Here’s Smooth. He’s guarded by Bridges. Smooth. No good. Pass the ball. Here’s the floater. Got a piece of it. [Music] Down low. Here’s George. And the layup is good. and Markin. The big fella has nice court vision. Solid at finding open teammates. Here’s Charlotte. Plumbley with it. [Applause] [Music] A little over a minute gone here in the first quarter. Pass the ball. [Music] So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Tons of hype around LaMelo Ball. The third overall pick in 2020, just like you, Brand. Yeah. Although the draft was a little different back in my day. But let me tell you, BA, there’s so much pressure being a top three pick. It’s really impressive that LML has lived up to the lofty expectations. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. No good on the free throw. Well, I tell you, I like Ball’s mental makeup for such a young guy. Plays with patience and the wisdom of a 10-year vet, and he produces in every area. Good on the second one. Now here’s George. Pass to market. Back to George. Got it. just taking it right to the rim and no one was there to greet him. Well, this early they should be showing a lot more energy on defense. It’s not there. Back to ball [Music] and count two points and a chance for one more at the line. Boy, handsome ball handling that time from Ball. Pays off with the bucket. Defensive foul. Walter Kesler, first personal foul. Second team bind the lane for Charlotte Mo. One shot. Yeah, that one falls for ball. You know guys, there’s one thing that may have hurt the opponents the past few seasons. A lack of playoff experience among their core players. Now here’s marketin pass to smooth George outside. Fires from deep and Marin gets it to go on the assist by George. And of the Hornets top five scorers last season, three have never been to the playoffs. NBA. That can be tough when the pressure’s on. They’ve gotten blown out in playing games each of the last two seasons, but with all their talent, they should be in the postseason soon enough. Just five on the clock and it’s Bridges with the perfect communication and timing on that alley. Bridges saw the opening and then bounced right to the rim. Pounded by ball. Oh, good D by Plumbley. Charlotte trailing. Pass to Miller. Shoots over George. Miller can’t get it to go. The Jazz have gone three of five here in the opening quarter. Marking in left side from 11 ft away. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. One word that always goes wrong with the Jazz defense. They’ve been a top 10 defense in the league in six of the last seven seasons. Marching at the line for two [Music] That’s good for marketing. And with a defense like Utah’s had, it’s easy to see why they’ve been a playoff regular. Well, it’s always a good idea to put a priority on getting stops. Now, it’ll be interesting because they traded away their anchor on defense, Rudy Gobear. Can they live up to the standard they’ve set the last few seasons? Let’s see if it can happen. Markin hits them both. It can help a big man’s game to hit those free throws. It keeps the defense from getting too aggressive. Pass to Miller. [Music] Bridges outside. Here’s Miller. Unloads from 13. Smooth. Grabs the miss. Well, you know, you’d like to see a little more effort there defensively, but maybe they wanted him to take that shot, baited him into it. Up top, George. Markin against P and that one’s good. Markin and the quick trigger of Markin is impressive. Have such a fluid release, too, especially on these catch and shoot jumpers. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score. Now a timeout called by Charlotte. Easy to see that this Hornet squad loves to play at a fast pace for good reason. Their built team just push the ball on the court fast and hard. They really work hard to try and catch the opposition unprepared and unalert. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Let’s give a huge hand to your honeybee. [Applause] inside. Pass to Miller. Bridges outside. [Applause] High post. Plumbley Lake. Shot clock at five with the floater. The rebound by the Jazz. Mark it outside. George outside. Mark it in left side. It’s good. Set up beautifully by George. George has got three assists now in this one. You cannot give Martin in the room to shoot from the mid-range. I mean, he’s capable of dropping these in bunches. Here’s Miller. Well, he hasn’t scored yet, but I’m sure that’ll change. It’s guarded by Markin. Charlotte needs to get one up in a hurry. Here’s Bridges. And once again off the mark by Charlotte. He just couldn’t finish the job that time and too bad because it was a nice look. [Music] It’s marketed on the wing. Pounded by Ball. Markin passed to George. A chance to extend the lead to double digits, but it’s no good for Charlotte. They’ve gone only two of six from the field. And the layup is good off the glass. Well, you know, it’s obvious that ball knows exactly how to work the angles. He gets the ball to a wideopen shooter just about every time. Fantastic replay we just saw of the mobile one drive. And I love the way he played downhill on that drive. Love the attack mentality in a close game. Pass to smooth and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. And even from where we’re sitting, you can clearly tell it was a foul. No question about it. Coming a ton of contact and a good call by the officials. She way going to the line shooting two. [Music] And the first one at the line is good. And so he hits both. And Clark, you could make a case that the Hornets were the best passing team last season. PA, let’s go to the numbers. I mean, they average the most assists per game in the league. And it’s not just one guy. This is a team that’s full of guys who can drop downs. Here’s Miller. Pass to Bridges. [Music] the three ball, the flip back. Boy, he hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. And those second chance buckets are major bonus points if you can get them. George outside. Here’s Smooth. He’s guarded by Bridges. George passes to Markin. Here’s Smooth. [Music] Plumbley pulls down the board. Plumbley’s got four rebounds in the game. Here’s Miller. No good on the triple. Utah’s gone one of two from three-point land so far. It’s Marketed on the wing. Oh, he gets it to go. So far, he can’t miss. He’s four for four. And Mark is a load down inside close to the bucket. When he’s got nice positioning, he’s really comfortable inside. Ball outside. Pass to Plumbley. Over George. Rebound. Utah. Markin’s got four rebounds in the game. Oh, they get a hand on it. [Music] Whistle blows. Yep, that’s going to be a travel. And the fans love seeing incredible moments on defense like that block. Boy, he is all over that shot. I mean, had it read the whole way, got himself into position, and then was able to make the play. Charlotte has gone 0 for two from outside. Here’s Miller towards defender and he loss it up top. Stolen by Anderson. The baseline J. George’s shot is off. Can’t blame him. just trying to take what the defense allows. Here’s Ball and Ball really confident even amongst the big fellas inside which is why he’s able to draw these fouls. Personal foul and the third team. And let’s take a moment here to get your take guys on the scoring so far from the Jazz. To me, it’s been the ball that’s been the key. I mean, going from good to great. Not setting for a good shot, making that extra pass, keeping the defense off balance, and taking great shots. Another area they’ve excelled in is the points in the paint. They’ve been able to gouge the interior defense so far in this one. Man, that one falls for ball. The Hornets making a switch here. Ston’s checked in. [Music] [Music] And so ball nails both of them. Two-part equation. You have to be aggressive enough to get to the line then talented enough to sink and stolen by Ston. Pass the ball. Puts up a three and can’t get it. He’s now one of three. Defense dodged a bullet that time. Total breakdown. sinks that one from the post and the Jazz lead by seven. And for Charlotte, they’re shooting just about 29% so far. Not great. [Music] Fires for three, sinks it from distance. Balls. Defense must not three-point shot. He’s more than ready to snack away if you give him the opportunity to do so. Here’s Anderson. That one is off. And Charlotte going the other way now to the inside. Big ball. Throws it down. You know, of all the things Kobe does well, his passing tends to get overshadowed at times. I mean, easy to see how creative he is on this feet. Back to George from deep and they recover it. Here’s Bailey. Williams defending. Here’s George. Oh, three chances on that possession, but they just can’t find a way to score. The three from Ston. And again, Charlotte gets the trouble. I tell you, Bridges scoring a nice job there. And his teammates appreciate when he looks to get them involved. Talk calls time here. Things just aren’t going their way. He really wants to talk it over. And you know what, guys? If you’re nothing else, just to slow things down a little bit, change it up some. [Music] Make some noise. It’s [Music] [Music] running on the floor. Make some noise for your [Music] Let’s get on our feet and make some noise for your honey be [Music] your strength. Man, here’s Bailey. Fellow is defending and so he draws the foul and to the line to shoot a pair. Williams first personal foul and the third team foul shooting for Utah. Bailey at the line. Two shots. [Music] He misses the free throw. [Music] That one misses. Charlotte has gone two of five from deep and he’s caught that pass in full stride on his way to the big slam. What a finish. I mean, he just took over himself. What a show of power right there from the point guard, man. Sweet. And you know guys, when your point guard is making explosive plays and what comes, he could really read the floor. Precision pass in rhythm. And it’s time to take another look at that powerful block. Hey, we know every basket’s a big one in a tight game and he is not about to give up an easy look. Two pass to William. Here’s Oki minutes and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Second that one on Anderson. What a savvy play that time from Maki. Drew the foul and still managed to get the shot free for your Hornets. shots. Oh, two shots. First one falls for him. Well, you know, Oki has quickly proven himself to be a dynamic player. He flies around the floor looking for ways to help out his team at both ends, which is quite impressive for a young guy like him. and good on the second. So he makes them both. We’ve got 155 left to play in the first. George outside. [Music] Check by Ston. Okie pulls down the board. The Hornets with a lead. 125 left to play in the first quarter. Lots of contact on the shot. So, two free throws will follow that. Exactly. The defense determined not to allow the easy layup right there. They’ll settle for making him earn the free throw. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The free throw drops for Williams. and Williams drops them both. We’ve got 123 left to play in the first. Boy, they’d love if anyone could get a bucket. Yeah, their offense has been grinding to a halt. Now here’s George. Not a lot of room. Four on the clock. Ston grabs the board. I think he’s gone completely dry. Nothing is hitting and you know you can sense his frustration. This is going to be a test of his resolve here. Here’s Oki. Can’t connect from short range. 35 seconds left in the first quarter. And another miss by Utah. Charlotte has gone two of five from deep. Ston against George. Ston. That’s good. That’ll drive your coach crazy. Failing to box out. Those are free points you’re giving away. You’ve got to work harder on the glass. George outside. [Music] out to the wing, drives to the hoop. Oh, and the release was before the buzzer, but it’s off target. And that concludes the first quarter of play. Hornets out in front, leading by seven. And we’ll get things started in the second quarter when we return. [Music] and the running on the floor. [Music] And thanks again for tuning in. If you’re just joining us, we’ve played through one quarter of action so far, and from what we’ve seen from the Hornets, what’s your take so far? Well, a big differentiator was their ability to generate offense by pounding the glass. Oh, there’s no doubt about it, guys. Without those second chance points, this game would have had a much different feel to it. So on the floor for Utah [Music] and the call is going to be yes an illegal screen and legacies are defined in the playoffs game to game. What’s the measure of greatness for a star player in your mind? Well B8 I think it’s all about consistency. The great ones in this league historically bring it every night. They may have a bad game here or there, but for the most part, the energy, the effort, and the consistency is always there. It’s guarded by Markin. Shoots from 12. Here’s Plumbley. Nice. Gets his second bucket. It’s two for four now. That kind of energy and hustle on the glass usually produces good results. George finds Markin. Back to George. [Music] Markin outside. Uses the glass in the layup. Markin’s got 13. So much fun watching Markin catch fire like this. He’s a capable, efficient scorer who does it at a high rate. Going all in. That was the 2K drive. Well worth the second look. Yeah, he made that drive look easy, but that had a high degree of difficulty to the middle. Pass to Miller. It’s guarded by Markin. Here’s Miller. Shoots over George and it’s off the back of the rim. No good. [Music] Check by Ston. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him. And let’s get you to guys on the scoring breakdown for Charlotte. Look at the fast break point total from these guys. I mean, they’re really hustling, working hard, and those hustle points are showing up on the scoreboard. He also can’t ignore that they’re winning the effort battle, grabbing offensive rebounds and making the most of those extra possessions. He makes the first. Oh, he’s checked in for Charlotte. [Music] That one falls. So he hits both of them for Charlotte. They’ve gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. It’s guarded by Markin. Here’s Miller and a pin. Charlotte with the triple. Got to fight to get over those screens. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, that’s a good strong pick. He lays there. Paul with the rebound for Charlotte. They’ve gone two of four here in the second quarter. Here’s Plumbley. Soft touch. Plumbley’s got four points in the quarter. And that’s a back breaker for the defense. I mean, offensive boards like that when momentum against you. Well, you know, that’s the way it’s going to be for them today, fellas. Can’t sustain any momentum. Here’s Smooth. Williams defending. Smooth with one on the clock and that one is never home. Grabs the board and goes right in for the put back. I love it. Ba. Yeah. Wanted to close the gap. Makes sense to get aggressive on the glass here. Well, I don’t think it would be a bad idea, but I mean they could use all the second chance points they can get. Here’s Plumbley. Six points for him. Plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and they’ll take two free throws. Now it’s on Lur. First team foul at the line for Charlotte. Number seven at the line for two. No good on that one. [Music] He hits the second from the line. Utah trailing here. George outside. [Music] Pass to Markin. [Music] goes up and lays it in nice and easy. Markin’s got four points now in the quarter. Some real toughness from Markin. Powers through the contact and has the focus and touch to finish. Now here’s Plumbley. It’s guarded by Markin. Back to Plumbley. Five to shoot. Charlotte again missing for Utah. They’ve gone three of five since the beginning of the second. It’s George on the wing. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot there. There’s no debate there. He’s got late contact. Straightforward call, simple at the line for the Jazz. Castler going to the line. Shooting two. He’s off on the first. [Music] And that trip coming up empty. Missing both. Charlotte has gone one for three from downtown here in the second. [Music] It’s guarded by Markin. [Music] The rebound by Markin. Markin’s got rebound number five here tonight. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. And what an aggressive move to the rim. He’s really trying to fire up his teammates right now. Boy, it’s not hard to feel inspired after a teammate makes that kind of finish. Yeah, you know, when you’re looking to close the gap, you need guys who will take it upon themselves to step up, take the initiative, and make something happen. Oh, he’ll wear you down with the way he grinds it out on the offensive glass. That’s to Miller [Music] and the foul is called. He missed it. So, he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. First personal foul. Second team foul at the line for Charlotte. Number seven. Two shots. Shooting two. First goes good. And that one goes in. Two from the line that time for Utah. They’ve got five of seven shots to fall in the second. George with it. Pass to ABC. Markin with it. Now George six to shoot and the three off target. You know, he’s just not taking good shots, not taking smart shots. Forcing up a lot of low percentage jump there. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Yeah, the officials didn’t need to talk that one over. It was obvious. And the third team back at the line for Charlotte Miller taking two shots. The first free throw is good and the Hornets making a change here. Oki’s checked in. And so he makes both from the line. And for Utah, they’re shooting an average of 43% from the floor. George outside now. Marketing 17 points in the game. Back to George and he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. First personal foul and the third team foul. Shooting for Utah George at the line. Two shots. [Music] That’s good from George. Good on both. The Hornets with the lead. Pass to Miller for three. His sixth miss of the game. Just two for eight now. The Jazz have gotten over 50% of their shots to go. Five for nine in the second. inside. [Music] Marking it outside. Here’s Smooth. The turnaround. It’s rebounded by Charlotte. Plumbley’s got rebound number eight now. Here’s Miller. He has seven to the paint and he hits it. That makes him one for six for the game. That’s been the story of their offense so far. getting a number of looks from point blank range. Well, if you want consistency at the five spot, Mason Plumbley is a good player to have in the rotation. Clark, could not agree with you more. Be a a consmate professional and extremely hard worker. Rebounds at a high level and he is one of the best playmaking centers in the NBA. Charlotte’s gone one to four from three-point land here in the second. All with it. Started now by George and he gets it to go. Wall’s got 13 now. Walls got a little more strength than you might think. Able to muscle that time right through the aggressive defense. Pass to ABC and he drives in. The Hornets pull it in. I don’t know if you can credit the defense for that. It was just a missed opportunity. Nice shot by Miller. Transition basketball. the most reliable way to generate easy looks. Yep. Exactly. If there’s any opportunity for early offense, you’ve got to push it and push it every time from behind the ark. The Hornets pull in. Bumbley’s got double digit rebounds now in the game to the inside. Ball lays it up and banks it in. He’s got 15. You know, because Ball is so skilled, defenders try to get physical with him, rough him up a bit, but it doesn’t phase him. That rarely works against Ball. Pass to market. Just five to shoot. Knocks it loose and it’s stolen by Pley. Here’s Ball and he drops it in from the low post. And the Hornets lead by 15. They’re really dictating the tempo on both ends of the court. You love it. And don’t leave out the coaching staff here now. I mean, their game plan has been perfect. And Utah calls time here. Lamelo Ball with a strong contribution so far in this one. You know, that defense is helpless right now. He’s got their number and he knows it. So, it’s Utah now. Back to George. An easy two on the layup. George has got four points this quarter. Great timing and coordination. Lays it in coming off that pick outside section to the middle. Here’s Plumbley. Slam by Plumbley. Their offense is looking like a welloiled machine getting any look they want. Boy, this is borderline ridiculous. I mean, every single attempt finding the bottom of the bucket. Marking it outside. Pass to Anderson. Shoots. Utah foul number 22. First personal foul and the third team foul. Coming onto the floor for the Jazz. Number 28. Charlotte has gone one of four from three-point land here in the second. Bridges left side. Here’s man now. Here’s Plumbley. Give him eight. Bridges misses. Well, that’s a look. He has to finish and he knows it. Loan opportunity. Pass to George and they call an illegal screen here. The He has put an emphasis to crack down on illegal screens. Yeah. You know, he might have gotten away with that a few years ago, but not anymore. No way. Now you’ve got to be stationary on those screens. No extra hips or elbows or they’ll fall. Here’s Nan. It’s guarded by marketing. James, but no scoring yet from him, but that’s likely to change. Four on the clock. Bridges misses. Utah’s gone 0 for two from outside in the second quarter. Takes a three. Chops in the three. Ball distribution was there. I mean, outstanding work all the way around. Pass the man. Back to Ston. Here’s Oki. [Music] The rebound by Markin. Well, you’ve got to be there defensively. I mean, that’s an easy mid-range jumper that he’ll typically drain. A minute 20 left to play in the second quarter and it’s going to be a 3second call. We’ve seen more than a few mis from I tell you what, more brain neutral plays like that one and they’ll have a hole deeper than the one they’re already in. And here’s Sexton. Seven points in the game. Here’s Bridges. He’s off on that one. Nice D from Anderson for Utah. They’ve gotten seven of 16 shots to go in the second. Marking it outside [Music] and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Personal foul. Really good to see Mark be aggressive inside. He’s excellent at drawing the attention of the defense and then forcing them to foul to the line for two. [Music] That free throw misses. Boy, in this day and age of how the game is played, Markin skill set, hand and glove fit, superb at spacing the floor with his shooting stroke. Williams has checked in for Charlotte. And the second free throw is good. [Music] Charlotte has gone one of four from three-point lane here in the second. Pass to man. And here’s Bridges. Here’s Man. Back to Ston. Bridges outside. Six on the shot clock. Williams up top. There’s the triple and he buries his first look. Not sure what the defense was thinking. You can’t leave this guy open. Utah with the ball. 8sec difference between the shot clock and game clock. George finds Marin. Back to George. Foul charge to Charlotte Colin Ston. Second personal foul 15 shooting for Utah [Music] going to the line. Shooting two. They knocked down the first one. [Music] Both shots good from the strike. [Music] 11 ft out. Utah with the rebound. 1 second left. The shot misses and so it’s Charlotte now holding a 12point lead at quarters end. about to run with them. They get the ball up the court so fast. All right, stick around. We’ll be right back after this. 43. The 2K Sports Halftime Show. [Music] [Music] Greetings to each and every one of you watching at this very moment. Uh, I’m Ernie Johnson. Penny the Jetsmith is here. Shaq is here. One half is behind us. Welcome to the 2K Sports halftime show. What a start for LaMelo Ball. He ended up with 17 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Shaq, your thoughts on the Hornets. Love how hard they going at it on the offensive board, showing some real fast every time the shot goes up. They carve out this lead [Music] changes. And Kenny, let’s get your input on the Jazz. If they want to get back in this game, they need to stop fouling. Fouls, it’s over. [Music] And that’s a wrap for our halftime show. The third quarter just about to get started. your interview. And with the second half upon us, we’ll find out if this game becomes the route that it’s threatening to be. It’s been quite a game for Lori Markin. Yeah, tonight he’s done a great job of slashing through the lane and finishing. Yeah. You know what, guys? They gave him too many free runs to the hoop in the first half. I think they’ve got to be a lot tougher on him. Body him up, be physical with them. [Music] And after a very lopsided first half, we’ll see if things play out a little more evenly in the second. They’ve got LaMelo Ball. Mason Plumbley out there with Miles Bridges and it’s Miller in the two. So that’s the group out there for Charlotte. The offensive rebound. Good on the shot. He held his position in the paint, grabbed the rebound, and dropped it back in. Just a terrific play. Yeah, he’s a real force in there, partner. Making his mark again as we start the second half. tipped and they’re able to recover. Chaz P number 13. Second personal foul. First team B at the line for your Hornets. Mason Conley at the line for two. Two shots. That free throw. No good. And he’s good on the second. George with it. He shoots it. No good there. That would have cut it to single digits. Fast break. Here come the Hornets. Here’s Miller. Here’s Bull. Rebounded by the Jazz. Here’s Market. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming. It goes on Mason, man. Good whistle. Yeah, you can hear the smack all the way over here where we are at the line for the Jets. Lowry Martin at the line. Two shots. Shoot two. That’s good for marketing. [Music] [Music] off on that one. So he goes one out of two at the line. The Hornets have gone 0 for three to start the second half. Here’s Miller. Charlotte again missing. The Jazz have gone just one of three in the second half. Here’s Smooth. He’s got six. Here’s George. And the deficit down inside single digits. George has got 12. Such a graceful move showing off the floater game. That was another look at our Mobile One drive of the game just a moment ago cuz trying to come back in this game. Now, bottom line, it’s about energy and effort exemplified by a possession like that. Pounded by ball. Blocked. No sir. Get it out of here. LaMelo using that long reach to deny that shot. Bridges against Markin. And down to five on the shot clock. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Second personal foul. Second team foul at the line for the Jawi [Music] Markin going to the line. Shooting two. Shoot two. [Music] That free throw no good. And he sinks the second. And now around 2 minutes gone by in this half. [Music] Utah foul. And that shot is going from nowhere thanks to that aggressive swap. Superb anticipation on that rejection. And that’ll allow them to stay on the lead if they keep defending like that. Pass to Miller. Back to ball. Here’s Plumbley. Five on the clock. Shot from the top of the key. That one off the back iron it and out. The Jazz have gone two of five in this third quarter. Up top, George. 12 points for him. But man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that. He got him good there. I mean, that’s why the shot was so far off. And the third team battle at the line for the Jazz [Music] at the line for two. Shoot two. [Music] That one misses and he’s good on the second. Now a timeout called by Charlotte. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] A little under two and a half minutes gone by in the third quarter. Back to ball. Down low. Here’s Miller. It’s rebounded by George. Might like a doover there. Quality look inside. [Music] And the shot goes in. George has got five points now in the quarter. They’re doing the job on both ends getting stops and attacking offensively. And you know, it’s taken a big run, but they were able to get back into this one. Very impressive. No quit in these guys. Well, that looked like a failure to communicate. You hate unforced errors. On offense, here’s Utah. They’re on a 9 to1 run. Lets a floater go. Good by Paul. The Hornets with the lead. Cook it again. Seven for 12 and going at the defense. Boy, making it look very easy. Ball has been unguardable tonight. George outside. Pass to smooth. Markin with it. [Music] Shot clock at six. with the drive and Markin with the stuff. You know, when Markinman’s in this deep, he should be dunking it every time. I like to see him use a size like that. Tipped out of bounds. Here go the Hornets. Charlotte basketball coming to the floor for the Jazz. Number 22. [Music] And it’s the Hornets with the ball. Charlotte again missing home bound. Charlotte will have the Hornets. [Applause] Charlotte has gone 0 for two from outside here in the third. Ball outside. Pass to Miller. [Music] Played it in with a nice touch off the window. He’s got 11. Keeping pace here. That’s an excellent move inside. George outside. Here’s Smooth. Six points for him. Back to George. Here’s ABC. He’s checked by Plumbley. Just five on the clock. The Jazz need to get one up in a hurry. And they forced the shots violation. Great. It’s Paul and Charlotte shooting 40% from the field in this one. Back to ball. Here’s Miller. George defending inside. It’s stolen. Pass to smooth to the middle. Oh, a clear foul there on the miss shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. And some stats here, guys. The scoring breakdown for the Hornets. Just a great job running the floor in transition. They realized they were tiring out the defense early. They took full advantage. They’ve been pounding any miss on the glass and cashing in on the offensive boards. I’ve been impressed with that aspect of their game and they can’t get the first one. Williams has checked in for plumbing. [Music] And the second free throw is good. Charlotte has gone 0 for two from outside here on the third ball right side [Music] and he got the whistle on the way up so he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Third personal foul. Well, that was clearly a foul. Yeah, he took a shot there. Earned those fouls for your Hornets number seven shots. Two shots. Nice. First one falls. [Music] That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. The Jazz have gone four of nine in the third quarter. and he drops in the layup off the glass. Nine points in the game. It’s fun for us to sit back and watch him go to work, but that’s our job, not the defenses. They left it too open on that play. Pass to Bridges [Music] down low and Paul gets it to go. Ball’s got four points this quarter. Well, that’s a nice effort from Ball in the paint that time. Working hard to find a way to get that shot off. [Music] Here’s six. George outside. Clock at six. [Music] No good on the three. The Hornets shooting only 30% in the third quarter to the paint. He gets it in there and it’s a 9-point Charlotte lead. I tell you what, it’s obvious Bridges takes great pride in working through contact and capitalizing. He’s guarded by Bridges to the right side. Here’s Smooth and the shot goes. You want to score in the NBA? picks can really force the D to make tough choices. Ball outside. Pass to Miller. Here’s Williams. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. The officials were right on top of that. Clearly a foul. I mean, didn’t give him any choice but to blow the whistle. Charlie got to play without foul. Williams at the line for two. That one’s off. [Music] Second free throw. No good for Utah. They’ve got six of their first 12 shots to drop in this third. Back to George. Launches a three. It’s not going to go for him. Go Hornets with the lead [Applause] now. Ston. He has seven. And Banks in the layup. Ston’s got nine. And he gives up some size inside but makes a great adjustment on the finish. And you know what? a size difference. That’s not an easy shot. I mean, I don’t care how close to the rim he is, that’s a tough shot. The Hornets have gotten five of 12 shots to drop in the third. Pass to a Kogi. Now, here’s Ston. The three. Anderson pulls it down. Anderson’s got his fourth rebound in this one. A moment to hear from Ali Leap force. Well, the league and the world have endured tremendous challenges in recent years. Commissioner Silver said, quote, “We found a way to keep going under very difficult circumstances. It required enormous diligence to keep playing throughout the pandemic. We are particularly proud of that.” Brian, hey, the show must go on. Thanks, Alec. [Music] Pass to a Kogi on the wing. 16. He’s got nine. Here’s Bridges. Got a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. Six points for him. Boy, I tell you what, when Bridges is thinking attack, come on now. I mean, he is a vicious offensive rebounder. George passes to Anderson from 11 ft away. Williams grabs the board. Williams has got four rebounds now. Here’s Okobi. Here’s Man and he makes good on his first shot of the game. And it’s an 11-point Hornet lead. And just not letting up at all. I mean, you have to love this approach. You want to get the ball to the guys who make plays. If it’s working, keep working it. That’s what I say. Keep the pressure on. Count it. A super high percentage shot there. You just can’t allow him to get that close for Charlotte. They’ve got seven of 16 shots to go so far in the third quarter. [Music] There’s a minute 54 left in the third quarter. Back to Ston. [Music] He can’t get that one to fall. And Utah will come the other way. Pass to George. No one near him. Good work there as it goes. George has got 19 points. Yeah, he’s been hooping, but the rest of the team, not so much. Now here’s Bridges. Anderson covers. Bridges against Anderson. Fades and he makes it. Bridges is deep. You know, we’ve seen Bridges knock down Freeze, but I think this is his sweet spot. That 15 to 19 ft range. [Music] Now, here’s George. He’s guarding closely and you can count it. He’ll go to the line with a chance at a three-point play. Humbley’s checked in for Charlotte. at the line for the Jazz. George at the line. One shot. One shot. [Music] That’s good from George. Now here’s Ston. Nine points in the game. Pass to man. Here’s Okobi. Bridges outside. Sexton up top. Utah with the rebound. This has not been his best quarter. You know guys, it seems to me as though he’s over anxious. He seems to be pressing, trying too hard, moving too fast. Just needs to calm himself down and wait for good shots. George, no good. Charlott got nothing to fall from outside in this third quarter. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Number 13. Third personal foul. rebound at the line for Charlotte. Colin Son taking two shots. Two, two. Now one misses. He hits the second from the line. 17 seconds left in the third and they can run out the clock here. No need to rush it. Yeah, don’t give them another possession here. And yep, it’s good. Oh, what a crafty move causing the defender to pause right there. [Music] He got it up. He got it up in time, but it would not fall for him. And that’ll do it for the third quarter. It’s the Hornets. They lead by five. And we’ll have the start of the fourth quarter for you as soon as we get back from this short break. [Music] [Music] And now we have a moment to reveal our State Farm assist of the game. Yeah, just shredding the defense with that feed. Zero chance to stop that. Yeah, that’s just a brilliant read of the defense. I mean, it was also excellent anticipation of the movement of his teammates before the pass. Just great harmony on all sides. And with three quarters behind us, we’ll start the fourth in what is still anybody’s ball game. And Utah looking at who they’ve got to start the fourth, so it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the active shooting. The defender really went after him. foul. Yeah, if you’re going to foul then make sure that you get a chance for the and one at the line for your Hornets. Number seven at the line for two. [Music] and he drops in first. The Hornets making a switch here. Balls checked in. [Music] [Music] So he makes one of two and the second one misses. Utah trailing here out left to the wing. Here’s Smooth. Pass to Bailey. Now here’s George. Just four to shoot. Here’s Markin. Miller pulls it in. And Charlotte shooting about 43% on this one. [Music] Started by Markin. Here’s Plumbley. Here’s Miller. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. Second personal foul. Second team foul. at the line for Charlotte Miller to shut First one falls for him. and he makes both free throws. And for the Jazz, they’re shooting about 43% on this one. Here’s Markin. It’s good. Set up beautifully by George. George has got four assists in the game. George against Paul. Here’s Miller off target with the three. Here’s Smooth to the inside. Takes the assist and lays it in. Nice setup with a tough road ahead. They worked hard to get a good shot. Just over a minute and a half played here in the fourth. [Music] Pass to a Kogi [Music] and here’s B. Shot clock at six. Slam dunk by Plumbley. That gives him a double double. Pretty smart play that time by ball calling for a pick and roll to throw the defense off the set a little bit. [Music] George against ball. Pass to Bailey. Good. A high IQ player. Markin continues to develop his playmaking skills. Ball outside. Guarded by Markin. Back to ball. Three-pointer. Cash money. Out of his 14 attempts, he’s drained nine of them. Man, it only makes sense to give him the rock again. He put the team on his back all game and no let up in him either, guys. I mean, he wants to continue to expand that lead and as long as he’s the one taking the shots, that lead’s going to expand. George for three, nails it from three. George has got 17 now just in the second half. This is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three. Fire three of your own. Boom. A kick out the ball. [Music] Guarded by Marco and it’s blocked. They get it back and there’s the shot clock violation. Couldn’t get the shot off in time. Bridges. He’s checked in for a kogi. The Jazz have gotten four or five attempts to fall so far in the fourth here in the fourth quarter. Just under two and a half gone by. Marketing [Music] and he knocks it down. And when the game is this close, you have to go all out. He certainly understands his role, huh? When the shot goes up, just crashes the offensive glass. You know that time I thought he did it with authority. Tremendous put back at a time when they really needed a timeout called by Charlotte. Coach no doubt wants to use this timeout to review the matchups and maybe make some adjustments as well. And I agree. I think there’s going to be a new wrinkle in their game plan when they come out of this timeout. Heat [Music] up here. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Now here from our reporter Alli Leforce. Hey guys, during that last break at one of the women’s coaches, he addressed his team. It’s been a battle and this is a great chance for everyone to just regroup, collect themselves. He told them, quote, “Your efforts have been great so far, but this game could come down to one big play, one big shot. We can’t let our guards down for one second.” As always, Ally, we thank you. Pounded by Ball George outside down low. Here’s Smooth. Oh, that doesn’t go on the chance to tie. Ball outside to the middle. That’s to Miller. Here’s Pumbley. Oh, poked away. Marking it outside to tell you it up and the foul on the shot. So, he’ll take two from the free throw line and the foul goes against Charlotte. Lowry Martin at the line. Two shots. Shooting two. Makes it. And the next one could tie it up. And it’s tied up with that one. Paul with it. [Music] Pass to Bridges. Back to Ball. Oh, it makes it with the kiss. Ball’s got five points in the quarter. Boy, excellent vision that time by Bridges to be able to make that pass. Really good unselfish play there. [Music] Now here’s George and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. Second personal foul. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. He got in good there. I mean that’s why the shot was so far off. George going behind. Shooting two. Shoot two. No good on the free throw. [Music] So neither attempt will fall that time for him. Charlotte has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. Snaps away. [Music] Here’s Smooth. The Hornets pull it in. Ball’s got rebound number five here tonight. [Music] Pass to Plumbley. Five to shoot. Here’s Miller. Can’t cash it in from close range. The Jazz have gotten five shots out of nine to go in this fourth. [Music] George outside. Nice D from Bridges. The Hornets have gotten three of seven attempts in this fourth quarter to fall. And here’s B Johnson with three. Can’t get it to drop. Pass to George to the paint. Count the bucket. Coming off a perfectly placed pass. It’s all knotted up. And you want him taking good shots at this point in the game. And that one was easy. Well, you don’t want to give him any open shots at this stage. Never mind the layup. Come on now. Here’s Miller again. The miss by the Hornets for Utah. They’ve gone six for 11 here in the fourth quarter to take the lead. Tries again. Rightwing releases. Can’t get the go ahead bucket. And for the Hornets, they’re shooting 33%. This hasn’t been their quarter. It’s guarded by Markin. Pass to Plumbley and he lays it up and in. Plumbley’s got four points this quarter. Terrific accuracy on that pass. That’s how you lead your teammate. Marking it outside. [Music] George outside. Back to Markin. It’s good. Set up beautifully by George. Markin’s got 10 points here in the second half. And no lack of aggression on that move. Good for the 2K drive. Whoa. A drive like that is the kind of play that can shift the entire outcome of a close game like this one. Pass to Plumbley. Here’s Miller. And the jumper from down low is Drew. In a tight one like this, you have to trust in his ability. Yeah, I agree with you, Greg. I mean, he plays with no fear and he certainly knows how to put the ball in the basket. George outside, marketing it from long range. Pumbley pulls down the board. Got rebound number 17, if you can believe that. ball outside and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. Already in his career, we’ve seen the numerous ways in which ball can score. He’s got a lot in his package. at the line for your Hornet. Nolo B taking two shots. [Music] First free throw is good. [Music] He’s perfect from the line this time. Utah with the ball. George passes to market. Here’s Smooth. He’s guarded by Bridges. Markin outside from deep three-point range. Gets the three of Marin’s got 31. That’s a clutch shot by a big time shooter. And where’s the D? Ball outside. Jazz foul touch. [Music] Jazz on deep. It’s a one-point game. [Music] Here’s Miller. Just five to shoot. [Music] Fantastic read that time from Lowry Martin on defense. Nice to see him use that tremendous reach to impact the defensive end. George good. Charlotte has gone one for three in the fourth quarter from range. All outside. Here’s Miller. [Music] And once again off the mark by Charlotte. Utah has gone two of three from beyond the arc here in the fourth. Inside smooth. Boom. He jams it straight down. And plays like that one can make the difference in a close game. And it definitely got the bench on their feet too. Making a statement for sure. I mean, we’ll see if they can maintain that aggressive approach, guys. Now, a timeout called by Charlotte. It’s been quite a game for Lori Markin, and he’s getting to the rack all game. And if they can’t do a better job of keeping him out of the paint, they’re in for a long night. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] and make some noise. It won’t be. [Music] And now we present our New Balance player of the game, Lori Markin. You know, from the jump he was on a mission. You could see it. It was clear going after hoops. No matter what the defense tried, they had a tough time stopping him. I think he could have predicted early on we’d be talking about him right here and right now. That’s how good he’s been. Charlotte trailing. Two minutes already in the game. Two minutes. It’s Bridges on the way. Shot clock at five. And he got the whistle on the way up. So he’ll be headed to the line from there. It’s on Larry Harkin. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for Utah. I love the way they’re finishing, penetrating, getting downhill, taking the game to their opponent. They’ve been the aggressive and that’s been impressive. Yeah. They’ve also worked at pounding the ball inside. It gave them high percentage looks all game and it’s paid off. He hits the first one and that brings him within two here. [Music] Both good from the line that time. Utah’s gone two from beyond the arc here in the fourth. George outside with a step back and it’s Utah scoring again with the ball on the string just getting anywhere he wants to go. Ball outside 16 ft out. That shot no good. Now the Jazz take it the other way. Here’s Smooth. Pass to George. From down to the low post it goes. And it’s a five-point Jazz lead. They’ve looked a little more settled since the break. They had trouble getting into a flow there in the first half, but their shooting’s been much better here in the second. Unloads from 13. All no good. On offense, here’s Utah stringing it together. They’ve got an 11-2 run going. It’s George on the wing. Miller pulls it in. Showing great intensity around the rim. That’s part of why he’s a respected defender. And you know what? He’s not going to give up an easy finish at the rim. That’s just against his constitution. At the line for the Jazz, George at the line for two. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. He gets the first and that increases the lead to six. So, he goes two for two at the line and it’s a seven-point game. Those are critical foul shots. Love to see him knock him down there. Throws it up high. Yeah. What a perfect pass to set that up. The defeat might have been pretty, but the finish that was angry. Well, you need both to make it special. And they pulled it off just right. Foul charge to Charlotte ball. Second personal foul. Fourth team shooting for Utah. Number 13 going to the line. Shooting two. He drops the first one and that increases the lead to six. Second one is good. Getting both at the line and it’s a seven-point game. doing his part offensively, nearing 30 points in this one. He’s been so tough to contain. Now a timeout called by Charlotte. They’re behind by seven. 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter. I hear everyone right now. Here comes the t-shirt. [Music] [Music] That’s right, baby. Here are your [Music] and make some noise. It’s funny. [Music] And who’s running on the floor for your team? [Music] 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. Here’s Bridges. Oh, he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. Bridges brings a toughness to his team’s interior scoring because of his athleticism, physicality, and aggressiveness. for your Hornets. Miles Bridges taking two shots [Music] and he cannot get the first one to drop. Tough one to miss. You know, one of the things that endeared Miles Bridges to his college coach was he was a superstar in talent, but played with a bluecollar mindset. And he’s able to hit the second one. And that trims the lead to six. Now George and he commits the intentional foul. Miller fourth personal foul. 15 foul. Shooting for Utah. George at the line. Two shots. First free throw is good and that makes it a seven-point lead. So, he gets them both and it’s an eight-point ball game. Here’s Denwitty. And just not enough time for them to get back in this game. Not by a long shot. It’s all but official. Williams misses. George outside. [Music] So we see the Jazz get the win here. Ladies and gentlemen, exceptional effort on the road. They were ready and they were focused. Focused indeed. I mean it takes a strong mental place to block off the distractions. These guys stepped up 100%. And now let’s check in with Ally Leforce with the player of the game. Ally Lori, some efficient shooting for you tonight. How comfortable were you with the looks you were getting? Uh, it was good. Seem kept finding me. I think I had good looks and uh can’t really say much. Just tried not to think about it too much and just let it go. Just play the game the way it should be. Congrats on the win, Lorie. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thanks for that. And that’ll do it, folks. for Grant Hill, Clark Kellogg, and Ally Leforce. This is Brian Anderson thanking you for watching. We’ll see you next time. [Music]
