Sixers just CAUTIOUS with VJ or the PLAN all along? – Locked On 76ers

Welcome into another edition of Locked On 76ers. Keith Pompei, Mark Farzetta, VJ Edgecom sits again. What does this mean for the Sixers organization for the rest of summer league and again how serious is this? Also, scouts weigh in as Keith Pompei did a little detective work about how NBA scouts feel about VJ Edge. Talk about all that and more on this edition of Locked On 76ers. You are Locked on 76ers, your daily Philadelphia 76ers podcast, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. And we do thank you for making Locked on 76ers your first listen every day. Part of the part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. Keith, I I I know a lot of this business is making predictions and then hoping you’re wrong because we, you know, we we we we grew up here. We we know Sixers fans. We want them to have the best possible experience, even if it’s just the summer league. But again, as we predicted yesterday, VJ Edgecom sat out the third and final game in Utah with this thumb injury, it’s being called. When did you learn of the news that this was going to go down? And have you found anything else out about the severity of his thumb? No, I I wish I was there in uh Salt Lake City. Um or, you know, even going to Vegas so I can try to get to the bottom of this. But but you know, it’s it’s one of those things where I initially found out I guess the same time we we both did, you know, right before the second game, right? You find out that he’s not playing and that is dayto-day. And then I found out maybe a half an hour before yesterday’s game that he wasn’t going to play. But you and I, we we both when we listened to his postgame v interview, he kind of let the cat out the bag a little bit when he said, “Yeah, uh, for Vegas, oh, oh, oh, oh, you know, next game’s here.” So, it’s like to me it was one of those things where that was a slip to where he just let it be known that he was done. Like, he was done. And and you know what, Mark, the thing that’s disappointing to me is, and I get it, you can do what you want to do, but there’s either two things that’s happening right now. Either the Sixers are basically not being transparent with what’s going on. Like, it could have easily been like, you know what, this guy has a hand injury. He’s going to play this one game. Now, we got to understand it’s his like offshooting hand, right? He’s right-handed, so it’s his left hand. Yeah. So, it’s one of those things where, you know, it’s a summer league. It doesn’t mean too much of anything. We’re just going to shut it down. He’ll come back during um the the Vegas summer league and everything’s fine. So, that’s one thing. It could be not transparent or it could be something that’s bothering him. And if it’s something that’s bothering him, that’s a problem, too. Because the thing that really I don’t like about this situation is it brings you back to Joel and be last year where they were saying everything is fine this and that and then we realize it’s not fine that they were just basically trying to they were they were they weren’t being transparent parent put it that way and then you think of the history of how everything is going and you look at all the goodwill that they’re having now VJ Edgecomb. I mean, that was a phenomenal game. And now all of a sudden, he’s being lumped in with Joel Embiid, with all these other guys who suffered injuries. And this isn’t the way to start, y’all. Like, like you got you you got to be more transparent on what’s going on. Yeah. I thousand% agree with everything you just said. I mean, you go back to the Joel Embiid thing. I mean, literally was the week of the season opener. You’re getting all excited for Paul George. You know, he’s banged up a little bit already with that knee contusion from um you know, preseason play. You’re getting excited to watch Tyrese Maxi, whatever Jared McCain’s able to give you. And it’s oh, by the way, the guy that played in the Olympics isn’t going to be ready for the season opener. What? Huh? That didn’t make any sense. So, here’s here’s what really bothers me. This to me I mean it has to be the Sixers. And I think most people’s opinion of this is like I know it’s a summer league, but the Sixers are going to sixer. This is what they do. They might overrest or say out of an abundance of caution. It’s like I haven’t heard and Keith, I don’t think you’ve how how the injury happened. And also to go back to VJO’s comments, it it I think this was the plan all along when he had that slip of the tongue. The radar went off for you and I like hold on a second. Wait, what was that? when he said, “Yeah, you know, just get ready for Vegas. I I mean the next game.” It wasn’t a like a like a like a slip like he just said the wrong thing. He like his eyes the way he said it. The whole thing was like, “Oh, wait. Is this the plan or is he done? They just don’t want to play him in Utah. They want to play him in Vegas.” Like, was the plan all along? Yeah. Go ahead, get your feet wet, play against Ace Bailey. That whole thing is part of the mindset. And then we’ll just see how you do in Vegas. The other thing I don’t like about it, Keith, is that this again is what the Sixers do. I don’t want them to do this with the player that they brought in to help the change in culture. Like one of the things I love about Tyrese Maxi, I’ve said this I think for the last couple of shows here. Tyresese Maxi said at the end of last year, “Yeah, if you’re going to play me, I’m going to try to win. So if you want to lose, you you don’t play me.” I love that when he said in his locker, and then what happened? They ended up more or less shutting him down for the season without officially doing it till much later in the season. BJ Edcom is supposed to be the guy that’ll run through a brick wall to go play a basketball game. That was one of the reasons you drafted him. And now from the way I see it, from an outsider looking in, it looks like, “No, no, VJ, this is the way you play the game in the NBA. Okay, we’re going to play a little bit.” And then like that is a that’s an atrocious look for a guy that just wants to come in and play basketball. Exactly. And and it’s an atrocious look and and and I get it. I mean, I understand it. You know, it’s it’s one of those things, you know, you want him to play against the Utah Jazz when it goes up against Ace Bailey, right? So, then also, you want him to play tomorrow night against the Spurs because then it’s a two-3 matchup against Dylan Harper, you know, and you may have some guys who were on the Spurs from last year like Stephen Castle may play. Who knows, right? Rookie of the year. I I wouldn’t play him as a rookie of the year, but but at the same time, that’s a marquee matchup that the league wants. And then on Saturday, you go up against the Charlotte Horets and Khan Canipple, right? And then next thing you know, on the following Tuesday, you go up against the Washington Wizards and and you know, you go up against Trey Trey Johnson, right? So, I get the storylines and and then they Dallas marriage, but at the same time, it’s kind of like I feel like if if what if every if we’re on to what we think we’re on to, I feel like the people who are suffering are the Sixers fans who basically supported this team after they did tank part nine last year. You know what I mean? Like, you know what I’m saying? like and everybody’s like, “Okay, we got to get this pick. You know, we got VJ. We love him. He’s our story. He’s our guy.” And then it’s kind of like, “Okay, well, he’s not playing.” They get it there. Those games outside of him playing, no one wanted to watch that. Like, like, no offense to the all the other players who played, but but no one wants to watch it. Like, you want to go out there and see what your top guy can do. you wanted to see what he could do in certain situations, but now what it’s all about is let’s have him play against other top five guys so the league can market it. You know what I mean? So they can market it, you know, it becomes something that ESPN wants this and that. But I think the fans who want to who stay up I mean and that’s the crazy part about it. Like these people are staying up late to watch these games and then all of a sudden oh he’s not playing he’s not playing. So it’s crazy. The idea that this would affect even the summer league I think is what’s crazy. This I I get during the regular season. I don’t even get that because I don’t like that either. The thing that that bothers me is that unless it’s a marquee matchup, they weren’t going to play him. That that was I think the mindset and the goal to appease the NBA, to appease Adam Silver, uh that was the that was the goal all along. And instead of just kind of being open and honest with it, they I I feel from what I gather, they just one and done in Utah and then we’ll see what we get out of Las Vegas. And that was supposed to be uh this is supposed to be the mark of a this is supposed to be a turning point really for the Sixers organization to start bringing in people that’ll help turn over the culture and it’ll just say no I’m playing no matter what and I want to play no matter what but not the way they’re going about it. And the one thing I will add the one thing I will add like if that’s what has happened just come out and say it from the gate. Say like look everything is not everything you know he he can play. We’re being cautious, but we feel like we don’t want him we want him to get four days rest on his hand so he could come back. That way people wouldn’t waste their time to say, “Oh, let’s look at this game or or like just be a little transparent with it because right now the fact that we’re talking about it, believe me, man, you’re getting text messages. I’m getting text messages from people saying, “What the heck is going on with the Sixers?” Here we go again. Joel Embiid like the Sixers never change, you know? It’s it’s just is it is it’s is I don’t know. It’s just unwarranted to me essentially. I mean, it’s not tanking because there’s no reward, but like just to to do this in the summer league is it’s like if you would if you were to give me all the guesses in the world, my first guess would be like, “Oh, the Sixers. They they rested the they had a strategy of not playing them to hold them for better games in the summer league of all teams.” Of course, it would be the Sixers. All right. Now, there’s some good stuff that comes out of all this out of that one game. Some more stuff we can look forward to. Keith, you got a story on inquire.com right now about some scouts that uh have looked at VJ Edge come through one game and also through his college career and kind of how the NBA game, this is what I found fascinating about your story, Keith, how the NBA game really benefits. You don’t hear that at, oh, it’s faster game. It’s a harder game at the NBA level. Well, for some guys, depending on their style, things could get a little bit easier in one specific aspect. We’ll talk about that when we return. This is Locked on 76ers on the Locked on Sixers YouTube channel. You guys have heard me talking about Monarch Money before, but how about this? Spacing is something that came to the forefront for in my mind when Ben Simmons was being a point guard for the 76ers and learning that position and learning the spacing and uh really learning how everyone kind of spreads the floor. When it comes to VJ Edgeum, the speed and quickness, one NBA scout you talked to, Keith, talked about how it could be a benefit for him to be in the NBA to grow that part of his game even more. Yeah, it was, you know what, cuz it was funny. I mean, cuz, you know, you know, I called the guy. I spoke to him uh yesterday. Um several of the guys yesterday and um you know, I asked him about the game and he was like, “Keith, I’m telling you, I I told you I like this guy. I do.” And and he said, “You know, he’s speed, he’s fast, he’s athletic.” And I was like, “Yeah, but dude, like it’s playing against the G-Leaguers, right? I mean, you know, this and that.” And he was like, “Yeah, Ke, but you don’t understand the speed of the game and and everything, his speed with the space and everything is going to enable him to get a lot of shots that people can’t.” And he also talked about with playing with Maxi and all these other guys, he says that’s just going to help him out. He also mentioned this like he said you know the being a part of the Bahamian national team like everybody saw it. He said because he was on that team playing with NBA types and he was not the guy but but at the same time he didn’t look like the high school dude out there like he looked the part. Here’s the one thing, Mark, that it really stood out to me that the the uh one of another one of these scouts um said to me, he I asked him, I said, “VJ wants to be a point guard.” And I said, “Can he play that in this league?” And the guy says, “I don’t see why not.” I was like, “What? Hold up. Hold up, bro. Like, what you talking about?” And he said, “Keith,” he says, “Okay, the day.” Hey, he says, “Look at Jamal Murray. He’s the point guard for the Denver Nuggets, but we all know he’s not a point guard. He’s a small m too.” I said, “Yeah, okay.” And then he says, “Look at uh” he says, “Look at Oklahoma City Thunder. Who’s their point guard?” And I’m saying like, “Um, it’s Shay SGA.” He says, “Yeah, exactly. But who else had the ball?” And then he said, “Kuso.” And then he said, “Uh, Kase Wallace.” He says, “They’re not point guards. None of them.” He said, “The days of having Isaiah Thomas and John Stockton to get you in the sets are over.” He says, “You even look at the San Antonio Spurs. Now they have Dearon Fox, Stephan Ca uh Castle, and now they’re going to have Dylan Harper. All those guys are going to uh have the ball.” He says he’s not a point guard, but he’s athletic enough to get his own shot and then to zip the ball to other people. He says the league has changed changed. He says no, he’s not a point guard, but there are a lot of people who aren’t point guards nowadays handling the rock. So, I was blown blown away by that comment because, you know, we all think that you need a traditional point guard to get you in sets, but the league thinks that guess what? He can handle the rock. You know, now again, I don’t know how often he’s going to handle the rock, but these people think that this is the way the game is trending now where you have guys getting downhill, just being extremely athletic, being able to get their own shot and get shots for others. Yeah, it seems like the point guard role in the NBA has just become facilitator with the the point forward roles and all that stuff. If you can facilitate, you can do an impression of a point guard whenever the team needs it kind of thing. But the thing that I I still question with BJ Edgecom, hey, look, I don’t care if you’re a point guard, a facilitator, if you’re out there on the on the court in a in anything close to a guard position, you got to be able to handle the basketball. And that’s one of the things that he’s got to work on, as you were just saying. That’s a concern I have. uh when he was facilitating to use that term in the one game we’ve seen so far in the NBA uh in the summer league he didn’t look comfortable looked a little bit more comfortable as the game went on but still as a facilitator did not look comfortable in that role uh the only time it really looked like he was comfortable is when uh the instance that you and I talked about when Harkas was kind of challenging him and uh trying to bait him into something he took it upon himself yeah he took it upon himself to to to facilitate Hey, in that smart he beat Harkless off the dribble dribble. Uh took him to the the block and then kicked it out to Janai Brown for the three. And I went, “Ah, little court vision from the fella. I like that.” That was really the only time. But can he get better at handling the basketball in order to become more of that facilitator to me is the big question. And you know, as the summer league goes on, I’d like to see I’d like to see him take those little steps forward. Exactly. Because and you know you talking about that assist to broom that was the only assist he had that game and that came off of like like you said the guy took it to the streets and he like look dude you ain’t you’re not gangster you’re not gangster and then he like embarrassed him. So you ever been to the Bahamas man? You ever been to the Bahamas? Exactly. Then look man don’t don’t let the clean beaches fool you. Don’t let the beaches fool you. like, yo, this ain’t a cruise ship, bro. This ain’t a cruise ship. So, so, so look, the deal is, you know, so that’s for me, you know, I just need to see a little bit more of that. Now, again, I get where he says Stephan Castle, the guy said it like with the Spurs are doing. So, you know, it it’s one of those things. I I I understand that, but you know, but but at the same time, I I need to see a little bit more. Now again, maybe he’s projecting down the road how it could be. And the one thing I do like is that really impresses me about Edgecomb is when you look at Edgecomb and the fact that he’s saying, I want to get better at this. I want to do this. I want to be that guy. You know, to me, that says like, hey, this guy knows what his weakness is and he wants to challenge it. Another scout told me that he says that Edgecomb is better than um than Quinton Grimes. And I’m like, whoa. And then and he said, right now they both have the same defensively they’re on the same level, right? He says, you know, Edgecomb is more athletic than him and this and that. And he even he said that the thing about Edgecomb is that if he works on his shot, he’ll be he’ll be good, right? He thinks that and we talked about this before and I think I got flack when I called him a poor man’s Victor Oladipo, but the guy the guy said he’s a young Victor Oladipo right now. and he said that, you know, when Victor came into the league, he, you know, he had to work on his shooting and and once he did that, he became a twotime allstar before he suffered those injuries. So, when you think of that, you know, that’s a a pretty good comparison. Now, I don’t know if Quinton Grimes in the right situation maybe, but you know, right now, you know, he’s been pegged for most of the time as like a reserve or a a situational starter. Now, he had a lot of points and he did a lot of great things with the Sixers this this in those games that he played this past season, but when you look at him, a lot of people aren’t comparing him to like all stars. They’re saying he’s a a great piece to have. So the fact that these people think that he’s a young Victor Olado and if he gets his shot together he’s allstar. I I think that speaks volume of VJ Edgecom. So let me ask you this then. Can VJ Edgecom and by the way Victor Olivipo people forget he got beat by Michael Carter Williams for Rookie of the Year that year that obviously they’re both that was crazy, right? Yeah. I mean, M MCW, man, the MCW craze, putting up Magic Johnson numbers. Um, but uh, obviously compiling them on a terrible basketball team, I might add. But how we we talk a lot about how much VJ can can help his own stock in summer league. We talk a lot about these guys helping their own stock in summer league. We’re going to talk about some of our takeaways from Utah from the three games in a second. But how much can these players stock I mean not just help themselves but hurt the stock of a guy like Quinton Grimes who’s still trying to get top dollar out there. Can the Sixers value him less due to VJ Edgecom having a great summer? You know what? I don’t think the Sixers would value him less. I think the Sixers fans would value him less. Right. Gotcha. Because I think the Sixers are putting all this in perspective. like, look, this is the third overall pick. We we picked him for a reason. We think that he can become an allstar. Well, you know, we think he’s going to be great. Well, so we expect him to dominate, right? But I think that if VJ Edgecom would have played in all three of those summer league games, at least two of them, Salt Lake City, right, and would have dominated, I think that there would be more uproar from the fans saying, “I can’t believe you let Gershan Yaba go for this guy who’s not better than VJ Edgecom.” Now again, I think if you pick Quinton Grimes in the summer league status at his the way he is now, he would do the same thing, right? It maybe even score more points. But I think that from a fan standpoint, they’re the ones who are would be more uproar over the signing, you know, or potential recruitment of uh of or potential signing of Grimes than it would be the team because the team knows what he could bring. Fair enough. All right. When we come back, I do want to talk about the takeaways from Utah going into Vegas. And look, I’m going to be honest, watching these games, all three of them, Keith, there was some there was some good time. One win, but some good times along the way with the 76ers. Talk about that when we return. This is locked on 76ers. Just like that, we’re back. Keith, uh, we’ve talked a lot about Hunter Salis. Uh, we’ve talked a lot about, uh, Jaylen Hood Shafino. Dembona did not play in last night’s game, so congratulations to him. Zero fouls. Really cut back on that. Uh, but that was a fun game. Here, I’m going to tell you this. One of the things I really loved uh and in last night’s game uh Judah Mintz absolutely went off like from tip he went off uh 26 points for him last night and the last five points of the game for him were in a crucial moment where the Sixers could have lost. Now do I care if the Sixers win or lose in summer league? No. Uh Keith, do you care? I’ll ask you. Do you care if the Sixers win or lose in summer league? Nah, I could care less, man. I could care less. The fans don’t care either. But you know what? I do care about whether or not the players care about winning. And Mintz at the last second last night of his 26 points. The last five of them came with the Sixers lead threatened to the point where they were trailing by a point with about a minute left. And then Mint, he has a hard drive to the basket. Then he’s got and one converts all those situations to five points. And I’m like, “Oh, we’re looking for some dog in a player.” My man Mintz, he got that dog in him. Keith Pompei, that’s something I could take away from summer league going into Vegas. Yeah, I like Judah Mitch. The only thing I don’t like about him is he chose Syracuse over Pit. What’s wrong with you, brother? What’s wrong with you? Come on. Now, Judah Mitch played well. We, you know, we talked about it. We talked about Hood Shafino, uh, Jaylen Hood Shafino being a guy that was really, he was one of the guys that we talked about early on who who who we thought that could benefit from this. Um, but then it was kind of like that second game, Judah Mix, like Mintz was creeping up on us, right? This last game, you know, he played well and I’mma give now VJ Edgecom only played in one game. He had 28 points in that game. But when we look at it, Judah Mitch was the MVP of the 76ers summer league because, you know, he was second on the team in scoring with an average of 19.3 points. Now, the crazy part about it is if you look at his statistics, right, shooting percentage. So, this guy is a point guard. He shot 60% from the field in summer league play. But the funny part about it is that he was only 20% from three. So it means his long range shot wasn’t falling, but he was able to use his quickness and to get by people and make shots. And he was extremely crucial from the foul line where he shot 91.3% from the foul line. So when you when you look at that, you’re saying to yourself, you know, yo, this guy was outside of just missing shots, missing threes, he was extremely clutch, right? Um so I I kind of like like what the what my man brought to the table. I felt like he played extremely well. um you know he was averaging what he he had like three assists a game, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals. So again, we have to factor in that this is summer league ball, but at the same time, we’re talking about a guy who’s not on contract, a a guy who was a two-way guy for the Sixers at the beginning of the season and then um turned out to be uh you know, you know, he just he just basically turned out to be um a standout for the the Blue Coats, but at the same time, he’s producing and and showing that he deserves another opportunity to uh to get a chance to try out for this team. Absolutely. I also thought last night Justin Edwards best game of the summer league. His numbers haven’t been terrible, but you would expect more, especially from a guy that now has a three-year deal with the Sixers, but a guy that, you know, logged in in the NBA, worked his way up throughout the season last year, was in the rotation, as you mentioned yesterday. Last night, he looked like that player to me. Yeah, he did. He did. And it it’s kind of like, you know, finally he got into his groove. He got into his rhythm. He, you know, he showed what he could do. Um, you know, and it’s it’s it’s funny, you know, I I don’t know if, okay, I’m getting ready to sign my contract, you know, I’m focusing on that or or I’m playing with other players like, you know, the first game I’m playing with VJ Edge. Okay. a them bonus plan. You know, I got to get out my comfort zone and do a different role or or I’m trying to fit in a little bit too much. But as you said, he came back last night and he played well. Now, he put it this way. He played the way that we expected him to play, right? You look at this guy and you say to yourself, you know, he’s the guy who has the most experience of anyone on the Sixers team, of anyone. And so you expect him to not just not per se dominate, but you expect him to have a good game, you know, and last night his shot was falling. He was three for six on threes. He made six of 11 shots. Um he had two steals. He did have three turnovers, but at the same time, you know, this was by far his best game. He looked like he looked apart. He looked like an NBA player, you know, playing on summer league as opposed he was looking like a guy who just was struggling and and and mistakes. All right, I’m just going to literally I’m going to put this ball on the tea for you and you could hit it 300 yards down the center of the fairway here. Uh Hunter Dallas last night. Uh that was fun. That was fun. Box look box scores double digits in scoring off the bench, but it was fun to watch him play and re really showing off the athleticism last night. Yeah, the guy is extremely athletic, you know, extremely athletic. Um I I think that it’s funny, you know, he he’s here on a two-way. Um but the crazy part is he’s just as as tall as VJ Eg. He’s a little bit slender than him, but they have similar build, right? It’s a little bit athleticism. I felt like um before the first game that he played in, he looked a little confused, looked like he was trying to fit in, but he looked a little bit more comfortable this game. I honestly feel like, you know, he’s a two-way guy, a guy who will get an opportunity to show what he can do. I feel like he could be a guy who is kind of sort of like Ricky Council. And what I mean by that is a guy who they say, “Hey, look, bro, it’s not about scoring. is about getting out in transition, playing defense, you’re going to get some lobs, you’re going to do some other things. But the diff I think the thing that can separate him from council is that and I know he struggled shooting the ball last year at Wake Forest, but but I I believe that he’s a guy who can come in and knock down threes. The year before that, he was phenomenal. Now the only thing he has to do is on the defensive end like his two games he his plus minus was was bad right so I think that he has to be a little bit more aware on the defensive end you know right now it’s like his head is kind of like on a swivel okay who’s going back door this and that but I I think that you know he had 11 points in 18 minutes he made four nine shots you know he made both his foul shots two assists one steel. I I I feel like that, you know, he’s a guy that could be a steal for the 76ers because, you know, he was he was projected to be drafted, but he he fell to the Sixers. And, you know, all I know is that Nick Nurse and a couple other people are happy to have him. So, you know, that would be a he could be a great pickup for them. I I always feel like guys like that that are really trying to make a roster, they need something to happen early in the game to make them feel like they’re in it, that they could do and give them confidence the rest of the way. And I think it was the final minute of the first quarter, he had that thunder slam. Uh and I’m like, “Oh, all right. Let’s see what you All right, three more quarters of this. Let’s see what you got.” And he’d come off the bench and he contribute every time. Uh so that was a lot of fun watching that athleticism. Uh Keith, uh we got a no game today. Tomorrow, Thursday, NBA summer league gets underway in Vegas. the Vegas edition of NBA Summer League. Uh, I I’m going to go ahead and make another prediction, Keith. Let’s make another prediction. Um, BJ Edgecom magically healed somehow. Miracle. The The bruise is gone. So, I look forward to talking about that game. At least we’re talking about him playing again. 1. Vj has to work on his handle and his 3 pointer. Once he does that and stays consistent. He will be a star

  2. Are you guys serious rn there is no need for VJ to be playing every summer league game training camp is right around the corner what happens if he gets a serious injury tryna play every summer league game Sixer fans gonna Sixer never satisfied…Lol

  3. Judah was on an Exhibit 10 last year and averaged 21.2, had a 45 and 40 point game and multiple 30+ point games.

  4. And VJ had 4 assists. You 2 guys have no clue what you're talking about. The scary part is yous get paid to say these lies๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  5. 27:57 totally agree Keith. Mintz a baller. Might be an nba player somewhere, but not this current sixers roster. We got enough guys that want the ball in their hands and enough guards. We need guys that can play off our stars

  6. These players need to play. If grimes is your backup plan. He need reps to avoid pay grimes 25 million

  7. Somebody need to let sixers know ain't no draft picks for tanking in summer league. And another thing,we don't have no point guard just a bunch of guns that's not feeding broome in the paint.

  8. Keith hit the name on the head. This shit pisses me off. If the dude isn't hurt then play him. This resting guys for the sake of makes absolutely no sense to me. Fans want to see it so why deny them this and wait last minute getting ppls hopes up.

  9. The Grimes situation reminds me of when Kobe was playing behind Eddie Jones. Everyone knew Kobe was going to be better, but he was an 18 year old (drafted while still 17) and in those days there was no way you'd start an 18 year old rookie out of high school over a seasoned vet. In his 2nd season Kobe was selected as a starter in the All-Star game, and by the third Eddie Jones was traded. At age 20 in his third season, Kobe was starting for the Lakers. VJ who's a lot more seasoned than his rookie status would suggest turns 20 on July 30th.

  10. He has already proven himself, simple as that folks. No need for him to continue to play with people that isn't on his level.

  11. VJ is most likely going to start on this team he has nothing to gain from summer league- he is getting the star treatment and itโ€™s fine until he proves otherwise. But right now they probably rolling w Maxey VJ Edwards PG and Embiid – thatโ€™s a good lineup

  12. Itโ€™s worse than your saying us long suffering Sixer fans that live out of the market have to PAY for NBA League Pass and must listen to KAREN errr Kate the Screamer Scott don play by play itโ€™s like a conspiracy against us!

  13. They need a new PR team because they make it bad for everyone the team the players and the fans. No the fans hate the player over a PR lie.
