Uh perhaps making seller relief the primary piece of their offer. They need blue chip talent and scoring threats of any kind. Plus, he’s young enough to stick around with whatever nucleus they build. So, yeah, the Brooklyn Nets’s future in my opinion, it does look somewhat bright. Like, they had five first round draft picks this past NBA draft. Uh they brought on Michael Porter Jr., which hopefully maybe he thrives with a change of scenery and this team does have a lot of you know assets moving forward in regards to draft capital and cap space. So if they want to utilize that to bring in talent at maybe a reduced asking price. So in this scenario uh trading for RJ Barrett of the Raptors it does actually make quite a bit of sense in regards to a actual destination. Now the Brooklyn Nets need any sort of talent that they can get. Uh I don’t think they’re going to be very good next year or for the foreseeable future. So, if they want to go ahead and get a player that can score the basketball like RJ Barrett, he can score. Now, does he contribute to winning basketball? Can he be the focal point of an offense on a championship caliber team? In my personal opinion, probably not. But at this point, the Brooklyn just need some players that can throw on the court, score the basketball, and just kind of pro progress that way in regards to the rebuild. So, uh I think that RJ Barrett is in his mid20s. So, this guy still has a pretty long way to go in regards to uh reaching his full potential in my personal opinion. So, if this team wants to get a little bit younger, perhaps they throw RJ Barrett alongside um Michael Porter Jr., maybe this opens up the door for them to get some more draft capital. So, as alluded to in this article, uh maybe they take on the full contract there and maybe this leads to either them not giving up very much in the first place or them getting back some decent draft capital assets in return to take on his contract. So, the Nets can kind of leverage the situation in regards to finances for them if they really wanted to. Toronto wants to move off of u they want to move off of RJ Barrett quite a bit. Uh there’s been a lot of speculation about RJ Barrett uh dating back to the Kevin Durant trade conversation. So, uh yeah, the Raptors want to move off of this guy. They want to get rid of his contract. And if for the Brooklyn Nets, you can capitalize on this, I am all for this in my personal opinion. @lightblue sports the raptors are not trading RJ Barrett and giving up picks lol. the raptors are still in rebuild. keith pelley said the raptors are in rebuild still at the conference where he announced masai was let go.
in what world do you give up a 25 year old 21ppg 7 rebounds 6 assist player and then give up picks lol.
his playmaking and defence improved last year as well. he isnt a scrub you try to dump for picks. RJ has value.
i think they just trade ochai agbaji than trade barrett and than have to give up picks lol. the raptors are only a little bit into the luxury tax and just moving agbaji solves the problem. they have till trade deadline to get under the tax also. RJ Barrett is not a ben simmons or jerami grant situation where its a bad contract no one wants.
the nets cant absorb his salary also, because they took porters contract.
if the raptors are trading rj barrett they will at a minimum accept a matching expiring and a 1st round pick back.
logically thinking, if you have to give up picks to move RJ, it better to let his contract run out in 2 seasons rather than have to give assets to move off him. its not a dire situation. they are like 300k over the luxury tax. i think they go into the season and play him and see if any one wants to trade for him. he has 2 years on his contract still. if you have to give picks to nets then its better to just keep barrett. why would you do something so illogical like that when you can just move ochai agbaji 6 million expiring to get under the luxury tax.
raptors dont have rosters spots either so i doubt a deal with nets happens since they ate up their cap with porter trade.
the raptors luxury tax situation is hypothetical also. as they are over the luxury tax if certain players make all nba which isnt gonna happen. its bonus related if they hit certain targets like all nba, dpoy etc.
