Toumani Camara ESPN Interview | 2025 NBA Summer League | Portland Trail Blazers

Welcome back to Las Vegas here with Blazers forward Tammani Kamara. Congratulations on making alldefensive second team. What does that mean to you as a young player trying to make your name in the league to get a recognition like that? It means a lot. It’s very humbling. You know, I’m coming into this league not really with a lot of expectation, but it was it was nice to see your hard work pay off sometimes. Did you watch the NBA playoffs and see teams like Indiana, OKC have a ton of success with players who would fit kind of your your build or or your defensive mindset. And how’d that make you feel about maybe your future in the league? For sure. Uh I think I think I’m made for playing basketball. Uh just the way that it’s competition all the time, the way they’re going after each other. Um so yeah, I think it’s it’s what’s very exciting about me. Um, just being able to play both side of the court and have an impact on defense and and and help the team win. I think that’s that’s what I take uh the most pride in for sure. You guys made a major move trading Simons to Boston for a guy who’s made multiple alldefensive teams and a champion in Drew Holiday. What do you think about Drew’s game and how you guys can work together in Portland? I’m very excited. I mean, I watched a lot of clips uh from him uh when I was trying to get better on defense. Uh, so being able to have them on the team and and mentor me and mentor the school and all the other guys, I think it’s it’s going to be huge for us, especially we’re a very young team. So, no, very excited to have him on the team for sure. You’re a very young team and there’s a lot of you guys here today and I think I don’t know if there was one moment that got you guys more excited than Yang Hansen’s dunk in the first half. What did you see out of your young center so far and certainly what he’s done tonight? It’s very exciting. I think his feel for the game is is zero to none. I mean, he has a incredible feel for the game. Uh, he’s very nice guy, very competitive. Uh, so I think he’s just going to get better every day and this is pretty excited for our team and and he’s embracing his role um very nicely and I’m I’m very excited to have him around us for sure. You guys got 36 wins last year. It’s a crowded Western Conference. You could probably say 13 14 teams with a chance to make the playoffs. What’s it going to take to move up to the top 10, at least make the playing tournament next year? I think focusing on itself. I think we have all the piece that we need. We just need to keep working, stay true to oursel and and trust the the the process. I think we’ve been we’ve been taking great strides and we just got to keep going the right way, the same direction and and just yeah, trusting the coach and staff and and the program and and all the confidence that they give us every day. I appreciate the time. Thanks, Tom. Thanks, Dave. Somebody from Mars.
