It’s the freaking weekend and you know what we got going on today. We got summer league game two as the Dallas Mavericks are looking to go up 20 in this year’s summer league. Cooper Flag had a decent performance. I’m not going to call it trash. I’m not going to say it was fantastic. It was decent. If you take away the poor shooting, what did he do bad? What did he do wrong? That was it. Five of 21. That’s horrible. But everything else was great. But all in all, we’re here to see Cooper flag. We’re also here to see a bunch of other guys. We have a lot of other good players on our summer league team. I’m very excited to see more of my man Ryan Nimhard. Ryan the Yin. Yeah, Ryan the you already know. As well as my man Miles Kelly. So, real quick, let’s talk because I I did a 24-hour stream last year. If you remember, if you were here, I did a 24-hour stream last year. It was a charity stream. We We raised money for the relief efforts in the Philippines. They were dealing with really bad typhoons. I am doing another 24-hour stream, and I was going to announce it yesterday on Twitter, but that was like right when Kyrie announced his, I was like, I don’t want people thinking I’m copying, so I’ll wait. But I’ll tell y’all first. I’m doing a 24-hour stream at the very end of this month on the very last day. It’ll be on July 31st. 24-hour stream. We’re going to raise money for the flood victims in Texas. If those of you that aren’t in Texas, we’ve had some very weird weather, especially in the Austin, Central Texas area. Um, specifically Austin, a very bad like thousand-year flood came out of nowhere like the weekend of the 4th of July, and a lot of people lost their lives. Over 100 people are still missing. So, I’m going to do a 24-hour live stream. We’re going to raise money for for the the effort and the relief of the of those flood victims. And like last year, whatever we raise, however much money the stream raises, I will match that. So, let’s say we raise $1,000. I’m matching that 2K. I’m also I am also better than I was last year. I I remembered last year’s live stream. We couldn’t go back and watch the VOD because YouTube only can hold 12 hours of footage. And if you have anything more than that, it’s lost. So, all of last year’s footage is lost, but this year we’re smarter. We’re going to do a 11 hour stream. I’m gonna have an hour break and do another allow maybe like I think I’m going to do 11 hours and like a half and do like an hour break and do another 11 and a half. So, it will be 24 hours. There will be a break just so we can have the footage. Um, but I’m also going to record it. I’m make sure I do record it so I can also post it as well in case that gets missed. But, that’s what we’re doing. It’s going to be really cool. It’s going to be really fun. Um, we’re going to do a 2K tournament. Uh, like I said, more more details of the 24-hour stream will come out in the upcoming days as I’m organizing it. But just like last year, um, I will have other content creators on. I will I don’t want to say too too much. I know Gaffer was supposed to be here last year. I’m working on to bring him on this year. I don’t want to promise y’all because I know that it’s been in the works for a long time. Me getting Gaffer on stream. Some of y’all know I’ve played with Gaffford on his stream before. From my standpoint, sitting here watching him, he’s gotten better. He really is. I know we joke about it. A lot of people joke and they talk about how Bronny sucks. He’s not an NBA player. He’s not ready. G-League at best. However, from year one to year two, I see a change. I see a much better defender. Much better defender. A very a Pat Bev type defender. A pesk. Right. Scoring wise is not that bad. He didn’t take he only had eight points, but he didn’t take a lot of shots. He took like less than like what? Yeah, less than half of the shots that Cooper Flag took. Right. Right. He didn’t take 21 shots. So, the scoring looks good. The defense looks good. The hustle, IQ, decision-m still has time to grow and develop. But overall, like I think Bronny’s a solid role player right now at least. Like he could easily actually come off the bench for the Lakers if this continues, right? Like I see a good trajectory. It has to continue. But I don’t think Bronn is really bad. Bronny I think the expectations are high because of his father, but we got to kind of look at him for who he is and not for who his father is in my opinion. Let me see. We We all could try spamming one of Kyrie’s streams. I think that would be crazy if everybody could just go to Kyrie stream and just tell him like Mavericks Digest, Mavericks Digest, Mavericks Digest. I watched like after we signed him after the second day of the NBA draft. I watched a bunch of footage. I kind of did some quick research before I made a video about him and like, okay, the idea, the potential, I see it. I got to see it. In game one, he was the best player on the court. So, yeah. No, I like I truly do believe that he deserves a spot on our team over Dante. Honestly, 110% over Dante. That’s me, though. I put money on this game. M’s winning. They should. Oh, that’s hard because I’m not watching anybody outside the Mavs. But, if I look at just the Mavs, the highest potential has to be Ryan Nhard. I think it’s because of where he is and where he can be versus Cooper Flag, where he is and where like I don’t know, maybe I’m just really high on Ryan Nhard. I just really am. I’m seeing a lot. Ryan Andrew played literally the exact same. And I love it. I absolutely love it. Dylan Harper missed every game and now when he faces the M, he wants to come back. That’s cool. We cook you up each and every way. Each and every way. Hopefully if he does good, they sign him. I hope so, too. Dante big trash. Garbage. It’s just because he’s injured, bro. Like I can’t trust him, you know, to stay healthy. And that’s just my opinion. He he defers a lot. I’ve never really seen Dante be more selfish and take over. Like you see that a lot in Spencer, but the problem with Spencer is he doesn’t know when to stop doing that. But with Dante, it’s like you defer, which is cool, but like can you get your own bucket? Can you take over? Can you maybe not take over, but can you like step up? I don’t know. I’m I’m just not I like Dante, but I think Ryan is a better fit. I understand Ryan is small, but I generally can’t understand how the league assistant college when drafted. Absolutely insane. It’s probably because he was a four-year college student. If the longer you stay in college, I feel like the lower your draft stock goes. That’s me. Now, Dante’s actually good when he’s healthy. Win healthy, that’s a problem. We want to see him look better than every other rookie because honestly I’m seeing other rookies, you know, at least their stat sheets. I’m not watching them play. Getting worse on very similar attempts 1.61 1.5. Okay. How about from three? 40% 36 38 on 33 attempts. Okay. From the floor 33 40 43% on 6.9 6.6. 6 and 7.3 uh attempts per game. His minutes roughly the same, 14, 13, 15. He was only a starter for five, seven, and three games. So, he’s coming off the bench and he looks like the very exact same player. He’s about to go into year four. There’s no I’m I’m I’m not seeing an area where he is improving. We can all agree because his defense doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. You have to watch him. We can all agree Jaden Hardy has not improved as a defender by any means. Um, but turnovers, he goes from one to 0.8 to 1.4. He’s improved on on turning the ball over and fouls. 1.3, 1.1, 1.6. So, that’s my thing. Like, I just if he was improving as a rebounder or or an assist, you know, better passer, assist to turnover ratio got better. Like, I’m like, hey, he’s he’s he’s got a niche for himself. He is a bench player who can get you eight points. That’s it. Year four and no improvement. Like that’s what I’m saying. Agreed. I can see Nimhar passing Brandon, but right now below just because I’ve seen more from Brandon Williams. I got to respect that. Hardy’s like Ken Bas with them having 16 players. Are there any reports of who is going to get cut? Is Olympia allowed to be cut action? Um, I think it’s going to be between Omax Hardy and Martin over who gets cut. And I think I’ve said it in a recent video, it makes more sense to cut Brandon, and I know you don’t want to, but it makes more sense to cut Brandon Williams to make room for um Dante because if you can’t trade away Hardy or Omax because we don’t want to draft or I’m sorry, we don’t want to attach draft capital to those trades, then just cut the one player who doesn’t have a guaranteed contract, and that’s Brandon Williams. His contract is not fully guaranteed, right? So, cut him, make room for Dante. If I’m like the front office, that’s how I see it. As a fan, don’t bring back Dante. Like, as a fan, you don’t bring back Dante. Like, you just don’t. But, you know, front office, that’s probably how they look at it. You have to look at all your options and weigh them as such. That’s just me though. Mavs have an abusive relationship with Hardy. We were He can change for two years with nothing. Still fouling on defense and doofus turnovers. No. By year four or five, I need to be in love with who you actually are as a player. You can still improve, but where are you now? Jane Hardy, you know what you can do on in every other level, but just be a better defender. You can stay. You’re not a good defender by any means. I like, but I would give his spot to be Will if I had to choose to question that or hard. And also, we have to also understand that plays a position that’s highly clogged right now. He is honestly, if you look at all of our forwards, he’s at the bottom. bottom or him or Caleb Martin. They’re at the bottom. So, you got to think about that, too. You keep Omax and when are you gonna play him? When Garbage Time, come on. We got enough players that can play Garbage Time. You keep Hardy, you can at least play him a few minutes in that point guard rotation. Maybe shooting guard rotation because that’s remember our shooting guard spots are just Clay and Max Christie, right? You there’s a lot of things that you have to weigh. Omax versus Hardy. Who gets more minutes? Hardy. Because when would you play Omax? See what I’m saying? It’s a very weird situation. Uh let me see here. The level of of physicality, the speed, the the defense that he’s seeing is crazy, first of all. So, if you’re going to wait till you give him praise, wait till you give him hate. That’s all I’m going to say. We know that he’s 18. We know that he’s young. We know that he should be in college. We And like I said last time, he was supposed to graduate high school a month ago, right? We know that. There’s no excuse. You are in the NBA now. you declare for the NBA because you thought you were ready. If you’re not ready, you better get prepared. Get ready. Right. So, that’s what I gotta say to anybody that has hate towards Cooper Flag. It’s which is just really weird. Especially if your hate for Cooper Flag stems from your love of Luca. They’re using Summer League to let him play positions that aren’t his strength to see what he’s capable of. Yeah, I could also argue that the Mavs are just doing this to just try to like feel him out like, “Hey, yeah, go out there and do stuff that you’re not used to. Let’s let’s really see what is the furthest extent of your skill set.” And I can understand that, too. These games don’t matter. They don’t count towards anything. you win summer league is the same result as if you lose summer league. You don’t really I mean I don’t know but is what it is. Massive the free Yeah, we took the field free throw line. I think Kelly ability to shoot threes and have a 93% on field goal is pretty good on what the Mavs need. Yeah, you can’t tell he need a bag. If Cooper was dishing the open man to Kyrie Clay or Chris, they’re knocking those down and Cooper’s assists are jumping. I think that’s what he’s going to exceed. Oh yes, yes, yes, yes. Like Cooper is just going to be really complimentary. Like that’s the thing. I think a lot of fans I think this is also a fair fair statement. A lot of fans think Cooper flag is going to be what Luca was for us where out the gate we were depending and relying on him to be our best player. That’s not it with Cooper. He’s not going to be our best player for a few years. Maybe by year three or four he could be our best player, but he’s going to be the best complimentary player. And that’s not even like disrespectful. Like I’m not calling him a role player, but he’s going to fit very well with with what we have right now. And then when the time comes for Cooper to be our best player, we’ll have a good team around him. Cuz again, not disrespect to Luca or, you know, the past Mavericks teams. We should not make the same mistakes that we made with Luca where he’s so good, but everyone around him is just so mediocre that not only did Luca have to look good individually, he had to make other people look good. And he did that. Luca was a great an amazing player for us, but he also made other players look better than what they really were. Cooper should not have to do that. Cooper should not have to do that. And I don’t think he can. Obviously, getting his teammates open looks is one way to make them look better, but the way Luca made other players look so much better than what they were is insane. All I’m really concerned is about the center Sharp of 75 and Cece and rebound and Sharp kit. Yeah. They’re both boo boo. Also, a coach could do a better job of teaching Mavericks ball and teach ball rotations even to this group of players if they’re not teaching the system than West Point summer league.
