Atlanta Hawks Should Sign Gary Payton II
Yo, what’s going on guys? And today we’ll be talking about the Hawks should be interested in Gary Payeyton II. He fits what this team needs. And let’s talk about it. The Hawks should sign Gary Payeyton the second. And dare I say they might. Now 2024 to 2025 season, I think the Hawks took steps. Quinn Snider’s I guess it would be technically his second and a half season because he joined the second full season under him and they went 40 and 42. This was a team that if I look right here they were third in pace but their opponent’s points per game was 27th. All right, that’s fourth worth fourth worst in the NBA. However, they had the fifth best scoring offense in the NBA. At the same time, this is a team that was ranked 18th in offensive rating, 19th in defensive rating, which was actually an improvement over the last few seasons. And the biggest thing is now that Trey man has gone and outside of Dyson Daniels, they don’t have a true lockdown defender. And with a guy like Gary Payeyton, he averaged this past season 6 and a half points, three rebounds, 60 in 62 games while shooting, 63% true shooting, which was 57% from the field and 32% from three. This is a t team that still has 3.1 of the non-t taxpayer mid-level exception, and 5.1 of the bianual. I believe if they do use the bianual, it has to be a 2year deal. And why would they want to bring in Gary Payeyton the second? Well, first off, he’s a point of attack defender. That will give him another option outside of Dyson Daniels to lock down people. Second, the thing with him is they can run guard pick and rolls. I don’t know if you have ever noticed, Steph Curry would literally call over in a pick and roll Gary Payne and then throw him a lob. Insane, insane thing to see. And to me, he’s someone that fits this team perfectly. And with Anie Salah being the executive here, they have a former working relationship. As you guys know, Anie Salah is a former executive of the Golden State Warriors. So, let’s just talk about real quickly what have the Hawks done so far. Obviously, they brought in Kristoff Porzingis. That’s a great bet for them this year. Then Alexander Walker on the full mid-level exception basically was another I think it might have been more than mid-level exception. And it looks like it’s I think the mid-le exception was 14.1. So, you know, they were able to do that. I think they ended up using the mid-level exception for Lukar. And that’s why there’s some left over and Lucar gives him a sharpshooter. Nil Alexander Walker gives you like a legit secondary playmaker who can be a 3 and D guy who can get hot at any moment. And I also like that Nicole Jerich was signed to a multi-year deal to round out the bench. And are they keeping Eli uh Indai with him? He’s kind of like a Chris Buché big man that I like. It looks like he’s on a two-way. So, I didn’t know if he was going to stay overseas or not, but it seems that Garrison Matthews, Keen Wallace, and Aquin Plato are probably on their way out following Clint Capella, Caris Levert, Terrence Man, and Larry Nance Jr., George Niang, Dominic Barlo. Did I say Trey Man earlier or did I say Terren Man? I meant Terrence Man. if I accidentally said Trey man. So what would obviously if we look at this roster love that V crche was brought back but we look at this roster G Gary Payeyton the second would probably push Duric or Cree or Kobe Buffkin in that position like it would probably be Trey Young, Dyson Daniels, Nikil Alexander Walker, Gary Payeyton and then the other guys but at this point like defensive stud we all know his father is the glove. This is the glove junior and he’s got the great physical tools. This has some is someone who has a 6’8 wingspan on a almost 6’3 frame. Now, he never makes bad decisions. He can be a pick and roll finisher as a guard. He’s a lob threat. He’s a good finisher. He’s an elite, you know, pickpocketer, and he’s got these long arms that like allow him to do stuff. Now, he’s a below average offensive player, but you don’t need offense. You got Trey Young, Dyson Daniels, Zachary Reese, Jaylen Johnson, Kristoff Porzingis, Nikil Alexander Walker, Luke Canard all taking care of that. And with Ankio Kongu and Mo Gay being the backup because I think Asanuel will be a little bit brought on slowly that this is a team that to me I think they’ve done a great job putting themselves in a position to continue to escalate and bringing themselves a guy like Gary Payne II would maybe be the cherry on top for a team that has had a great offseason in my opinion has done a phenomenal job in taking low risks or not low risk, taking chances that are low risks, that are easy to mitigate the backlash in terms if Christoff Forzingius doesn’t work, he’s an expiring contract. If it does work, we can negotiate in free agency next year. We wanted Jaylen Johnson to get healthy. We took on Nquila Alexander Walker on a deal that will be tradable. We took Luke Canard on a one-year deal. He was one of the best shooters, if not the best shooter that was available. And I think with the money that they have available, as we said, either using the bannual if they want to give him a two-year deal, or they could just give him, you know, a minimum. It’s not like he’s going to be making a ton of money. This past year, yeah, he’s making 9.1, but he ain’t getting that, baby. He might be lucky to get half of that. So, to me, when you look at that, you’re thinking, all right, how do we continue to make moves around the margins that is going to elevate this team? So, we got two roster spots to fill out. Jacob Hoppin and Ellie Eli are two ways. So, you can have 18 guys. Right now, we have 13. And I know that technically could be either Garrison Matthews, Ken Wallace, Aquon Plin, but I think Gary Payeyton 14, and then they probably are still trying to find a power forward, like a traditional power forward, as there’s not many of those. But it also is seeming like they’re going like multi-wing. I do like the idea of them obviously double down like this team has a lot of blend of defense two-way guys with such a good coach in Mr. Quinn Snyder who I think is one of the most underrated coaches in the entire NBA. So who else is available that realistically they could go after? I mean Chris Bucher can play both the power forward and center position. He’s someone who can hit threes, block shots and play in spurts this past season. averaged 10 points, four and a half rebounds, half a block, 49% from the field and 36% from three. And as we said, bringing a defensive minded guard like Gary Peyton who can, you know, score off being a cutter and slashing to the basket, it would be huge. Now, for the power, like if you bring that in, you just need to figure out the power forward switch big position, which could also be a Trey Lyles, which I believe Quinn Snder has had a he’s, you know, stretch four, can be a small ball five. He averaged six and a half points and five rebounds almost this past year. But with that being said, he’s someone that Yeah, Quinn Snder cuz he’s been Spurs, Kings. Wasn’t he drafted by the Jazz? Trey Ly, I got to confirm this. But I think that’s one that like if we’re Yeah, he was drafted by the Jazz. Okay. So, hey Trey Lyles, you should come to Atlanta. Trey Lyles and Gary Payne would both be great hirings in my or signings. I guess they are hirings, but for them. So, let me hear your thoughts down below in the comment section, guys, if you guys agree with me or not. It’s interesting to see the build of this team, but they’re building a darkhorse contender here. I’m not kidding. And you might think that’s over me being aatious about this, but this is a team that you got an offensive hub in Trey Young. You got a big man Christophorzingis with depth with Onac Congu as Newuel Mo Gay Jaylen Johnson Zachary Reese are the type of fors you need in the NBA. You got the shooting and the defense off the bench with the kill Alexander Walker and Luke Canard. Got another defender in Tyson Daniels maybe even in Gary Payeyton beat Cr another good one and Kobe Guffkin Nicole Drew could be upward swings that if they work out it works out. So let me your thoughts down below. That’s it for me, guys.
The atlanta hawks should seriously consider signing gary payton ii, who brings strong defensive skills and a proven track record. Payton also has a prior working relationship with new GM onsi saleh, which could ease his integration and impact on the team.
Cyro Asseo discusses why payton ii would be a valuable addition to the hawks as they look to strengthen their roster and compete.

They did they thing in one offseason ridiculous
They got NAW via SnT through the Dejounte murray Trade Exception. And used the mid level for Luke Kennard.
Hawks need a back up 4/5 bc KP and JJ are injury prone. And a vet back up PG that can run an offense
Picking up GP2 would be an amazing move for the Hawks, if we can get them for cheap. Hawks have great future prospects, but we need more vet presence that can help with building defensive mindsets for our young core. If Hawks build strong mental games, such as getting back on defense, fighting for each possession and not coasting against team they think they can beat, we should be alright. I just wish we don’t lose games we know we can win by underestimating them and playing sloppy defense…
