Bucks sign COLE ANTHONY
So, the Buckaroos are bringing in Kleaw Anthony. Cole Anthony is coming in on a one-year deal after being traded to the Grizzlies and then bought out by the Grizzlies. And for the Buckaroos, I’m salivating. I love it. After rumors of the Bucks potentially getting Russell Westbrook, which for me would have been a nightmare, Cole Anthony at just 25 years old, there’s an opportunity still in there for him to be a really good stinking player. and he’s a guy that shows flashes of it, but he’s just got to put it all together with the Bucks because this is a guy that coming out of college was a great offensive talent. He was a guy that with UNCC he was on a team that year that didn’t have a lot of offensive talent, but he was definitely very talented. And my only concern from him coming out of college was like I don’t want to say soft, but like did he lack a little bit of that dog in him? You know, like when he would go up against Duke his freshman year in college, sophomore Trey Jones, I can’t lie to y’all, he would be taking his lunch money. Like he was getting in his shorts, getting into his jock strap, and it was looking crazy. I can’t lie. But since Coony’s got to the NBA, that man’s developed into a great defensive point guard. There’s a video going around of uh him meeting Yians at the rim from last year. Yas was going up for like a dunk at 6’1. Co Anthony went up and met him at the rim, like blocked a shot. And yeah, with that Magic team with a real defensive identity, Cole Anthony has been a very solid defensive guard for them. And uh I’m hoping he can bring that to the Bucks. And the hope is he could finally get that offensive talent that’s in him and perform up to that level. I mean, his second year in the NBA, he did average 16, but it was pretty inefficient. His third year, he had solid shooting splits at 13 points a game. I’m hoping I don’t want to have my expectations too high, but I want to have I’m hoping for him that he can have like that thirdyear stats offensively with like last year’s defense that he was bringing. And if he could do that, he could be huge for the Bucks because he’s a guy that’s a capable three-point shooter, but is very streaky. Like for his career, he’s shooting 34%. I think he could be better than that. Um I’m hoping he get back up to like at least that 36 37% shooting split. And I do think that is very possible. I think what the magic of issue was a they’re one of the lesser um I guess you know Jamal Mos he’s done a great job with their defense but I don’t think he’s a very good offensive coach. They don’t seem to have very much to get guys easy looks. That’s not going to change with the Bucks very much. Doc Rivers is the same way. We just kind of run dribble handoffs all game. um we don’t really do a lot to set up guys, but we’d have a lot more shooters where you’re going to have a lot more space because there’s a lot of guys that are going to be um drawing the defense. I mean, you got obviously Giannis gravity, which leads to a lot of open threes as we’ve seen for guys like Gary Trent and AJ Green, but then also just the fact that um in general, like if you’re driving to the rim, there’s going to be spacing out on them. And that just makes it easier for everybody to score with the amount of shooting that’s with the Bucks with Miles Turner now here with obviously Mian isn’t a shooter, but when he has the ball, he draws the defense. AJ Green, uh Gary Trent Jr., Ryan Rollins is a good spot up shooter. So, there’s going to be much more space for him to operate. So, I’m hoping we could start to get some of that uh his best offensive production with great defensive production. And so, where he could stand out with the Bucks is, yeah, he definitely needs to put it together consistently because right now the Bucks are kind of loaded in the back court. I’m seeing some rumblings of maybe AJ Green getting moved, which I don’t love, but I’ve seen some buck people making mock treats for Trey Murphy, so I’ll be open-minded. But yeah, right now the Bucks are heavy in the back court, but really just heavy on two guards because I would say Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins are both combo guards. Really Ryan Rollins I see much more as a two. I don’t think like if he’s getting picked up full court, I necessarily trust him running the offense. I think he’s fine as like a combo guard if Giannis is doing some of the ball handling and he is, but I don’t really see him as a point guard so much. And Kevin Porter Jr. is kind of a point guard and he could he’s he can be a great passer. He can be great at setting guys up, but he can also be a guy that’s just liable to throw a wild pass. And he’s like 6’5, so he has the size to play the two. So, there’s definitely the room for Cole Anthony to be a true point guard with this team and make a huge impact. It’s just going to have to come down to you need to be more steady than Kevin Porter Jr. who, you know, I turned into a big fan of him as a player last year, but you know, once a game usually’ll have just a wild pass where it’s like, what the heck was that? Or like a wild shot. Um, and hopefully with Cole Anthony, you know, he’s a pretty smart player. He’s not going to have that. And I’m hoping he could have his assist to turnover ratio up because looking at his numbers, um, he actually has been a little bit disappointing in terms of assist to turnover ratio for the most part in the league. Like you look at last year, uh, 2.9 assists to 1.5 turnovers. Not good for a point guard to have less than a 2 to1 assist to turnover ratio. But like I’ve seen, he’s this guy I’ve watched and followed for a while and I’ve seen that he is like a capable ball handler. He’s a capable point guard. like he’s capable of handle handling handling pressure, capable of reading a defense and I mean you’ve seen flashes of that in his career. Look at his third year that’s uh over a two to1 assist to turnover ratio almost a 3 to1 assist to turnover ratio. Um yeah so I mean he’s a c he’s capable. I think a lot of like I said is when you’re like two guard is I mean KCP who had a really down shooting year, Paulo is not a great shooter over there. Fron Vagner and who’s below 30 point three-point shooter. It just makes it a lot harder. you’re driving through a lot of traffic where now if he comes off a screen, let’s say it’s like a pick and pop with Miles Turner, then you have AJ Green who his defender is not leaving him for a second. Gary Trent, his defender is not leaving for a second. So, it’s going to make it a lot easier for him to operate. So, overall for Cole Anthony, I love this pickup for the Bucks. It’s obviously a lowrisk move and is a guy that has ability in him to do basically everything you want from a point guard. It’s just about putting it together now with the Bucks. And I mean, obviously everybody, most guards will have like moments of doing everything like, “Oh yeah, you’ll have moments where you’re a good shooter.” But the thing is with Cole Anthony, his down years I could kind of give excuses for a little bit, you know, like like I said last year with the Magic is like that whole team lacked shooting. So that’s going to make it just tougher on everybody when you don’t have an offensive coach and you don’t have shooters around you. Um, but he’s been a great defender. He was a really good defender last year and he even had great offensive moments last year. So, I’m hoping with this team with better spacing and starting to get closer to his prime now at age 25, he could just have a very solid steady year for the Bucks and maybe have it, you know, maybe like that year three type of numbers with last year’s defense. Um, and as you can see, he’s an 85% free throw shooter on his career and generally that does translate more to the three-point shooting than it has in his career. Normally, if you’re an 85% threep point free throw shooter, you’ll be better from 34 from the line, better than 34 from the line. So, as we’ve seen with the Bucks, Torian Prince turned into the best catch and shoot three-point shooter in the league last year. I mean, we’ve had a long history of guys partially because of Giannis Gravity. Um, having huge leaps in terms of their three-point shooting when they come to the Bucks. Um, you know, even back in the day, Brook Lopez and just a whole bunch of guys, um, Grayson Allen turned into another level of shooter when he came to the Bucks. Um, we’ve seen it. Yeah, Malik Beasley turned to another level campaign before he got traded with shooting a crazy percentage. And so I think we could definitely have a chance to see Cole Anthony shooting his best percentage maybe of his career. Maybe I I think it is in him to have a 40% three-point shooting year. Um maybe not 40, but like maybe like a 38%. I think that is definitely in him and I think he’s a definitely capable defender. And so we’ll see if he ends up getting the starting job. I think tentatively I would say I would probably pencil him in as the starting point guard. Personally, I like Kevin Porter Jr. as a six-man. Um, but yeah, I I think that I would be, you know, open to competition. If I was the coach, I would have them competing, but tentatively, if I’m penciling in the starting five right now, if I’m the coach, it would probably be Cole Anthony, Gary Trent Jr., AJ Green, Giannis, and Miles Turner. Um, and then I would have Kevin Porter Jr. sixth man, probably Rollins, seventh man, but we’ll see. Koozma will probably end up starting. Um, I could see a whole a whole bunch of different combinations. Maybe AJ Green isn’t even with the Bucks. But personally, I do think Cole Anthony is like the one true point guard on the Bucks roster. And I’m just very happy that the Bucks went and got a 25year-old that at his worst is an inefficient scorer that is that plays hard and is a dog and works hard defensively but just isn’t super efficient. But at 25 years old, I could take that risk rather than a guy like Russell Westbrook who’s fallen apart in big moments for the last few years, is not very efficient, turns the ball over a lot. Lastly, I will say something I forgot to mention with Cole Anthony for the people that are like looking at the stats and they’re like, it’s nothing special. Yeah, that’s true. But I will say go and look at you could scroll down on the Magic’s uh Instagram or maybe you can find it on Magic Twitter, too. Um like the goodbye post to Cole Anthony. Like the entire comments are like, “No, why did we give up Cole Anthony?” Like they were in shambles when he left. like he is a fan favorite and I think for good reason because he brings that energy and I think he is going to become potentially a fan favorite here in Milwaukee too. So, um I’m very excited for this one. I like this pickup a lot. Let me know what you all think though. Drop a comment, hit that like and subscribe if you want to. If you want to subscribe,

KPJ 6th man? Rollins 7th man? What about Bobby?
SF/Big wing rotation is still trash and i dont really see a way to fix it.
8:14 Rollins over Portis at 7th man?
KPJ Gary [INSERT Kuz + '31 pick + AJ or Ajax trade] GA and Myles — bench is Rollins, Anthony, TP, BP, and Sims
I like it a lot. The Bucks are the 13th youngest team in the NBA as it stands. It looks like we are trying to get an identity which we haven't had. If we get Kuzma outta here, and get a Trey Murphy or a Keegan Murray and get Beal on a vet min, I can comfortably say we can contend in the East.
Horst is on fire now just trade kuz for wiggs or rj and we will compete for it all
I will say this team is gonna be fun to watch next season
Excellent pick up for the bucks. KPJ is still are starting point guard.
What’s not to love? A 25 year old fan favourite contributor to a playoff team on a minimum is a great deal, he’s already a good player not coming off a particularly bad year yet he’ll definitely still feel like he has something to prove
What you mean? Cole is unplayable in playoff since he will get picked on!
I’m optimistic about his production being better with the bucks . The magic had so many non shooters and terrible spacing . He had to create his own shot a lot that won’t be the case anymore . He will still do some creating, the shooting the bucks have on top of Giannis making teams pack the paint he will get some good looks
This team is going to be a top three defense easily and if we trade Kuz for a consistent scoring 3 we could be a top 10 offense as well
Kuzma needs to go
If kpj can get his ppg back up to his rockets numbers then his contract will be a steal
Just go get Mr Triple Double WestBrooke and let’s get that 2025/2026 chip…💯🫡
not getting past the 2nd round lmao
Now trade kuzma for kumanga or Wiggins and we’re sitting good
excelente..creo que los bucks son mucho mejor con Cole Anthony…go bucks.
Get Kelly Oubre on a trade from philly, he is that shooting guard they need plus he is not a bad defender..he will fit like a glove on the bucks..
so beal to clippers now
I like it, it doesn’t matter if KPJ starts or not, they’ll all get they’re minutes
