Let me tell you something about the Sickers and the Celtics. My first experience. So, you know these old vets, Doc, Bobby Jones, Ree Sheeks, Moses, they don’t care about the preseason. Guys are goofing around the first four or five exhibition games. It’s just like it’s basically a glorified scrimmage. So, we play like the first four or five games. You know, you’re just trying to break a sweat and work on your stuff. And then we go to play the Celtics. There was a noticeable difference. That’s not a sound going on. The locker room was quiet. I pull Andrew Tony aside. I says, “Is somebody sick or hurt or something?” He says, “It’s the Celtics.” And I said, “What?” He says, “It’s the Celtics.” So, preseason. Preseason. And then a fight broke out during the game between Dr. J and Larry Bird. And it let me know like that that was hatred between the Sixers and the Celtics. I mean, it was unbelievable intensity in a preseason game.

That 80’s era was CRAZY. Whole teams would of been ejected today if this happened in todays game. Remember the 1984 ,I think it was ,finals between the Celtics and the Lakers and Kurt Rambis got taken out on that layup? That fight was crazy. But that kinda stuff happened all the time back then. I was just a kid back then in the mid-80’s so I don’t even remember those games but I’ve seen them on YouTube,the highlights. The fight with the fans at the Palace between the Pacers and the Pistons was the last big brawl that I remember. Peace ✌️

The big issue is they played in the preseason and had the ability to light that fire just cause it’s time to light the fire. Now they got checks and friends on the other team, a love fest trying to talk to the basketball lovers as if they know basketball! We didn’t never like nobody on the other team. Real game with refs or pick up at the park, that’s what Youngun’s inspired to be, tough guys that could hoop and fight. It won’t no twitter fingers, it was space and opportunity. Get your weight up little man.
I really miss 80s and 90s basketball it was never disappointing to watch no matter what game you were watching back then cuz they all was good
People forget how good Andrew Toney was. I was a Celtics fan because I lived not too far away from French Lick, but Andrew was great.

As a Sixers fan back then, there was no greater insult than to suggest " oh, you must be a Celtics fan " and there was no opponent more despised than Danny Ainge.
