Young Washington Wizards SHINE in Summer League Win Over Brooklyn | Alex Sarr Hosted a BLOCK PARTY

The Washington Wizards are victorious over the Brooklyn Nets. The young kids shined for the Wizards tonight in route to their first summer league win. Let’s break it all down here live on Locked on Wizards. You are Locked On Wizards, your daily Washington Wizards podcast, part of the Locked On podcast network. your team every day. DC family, this is Lockdown Wizards, where you’re part of our family. We thank you for making Lockdown Wizards your first listen every single day alongside DC sports content creating Savonic Credential media member for the Washington Wizards at Abdul Aub. I’m Ben Schroer. I cover all things DC sports for 1067 the fan and the team 980. Abdullah, I could see you getting a little bit jiggy there in the intro, putting up the W’s. And yeah, we are celebrating a W tonight here on Lockdown Wizards. And man, what a fun game of basketball. First of all, 10296. The Wizards take it over the Brooklyn Nets. Good action back and forth. Brooklyn stormed all the way back at one point to make things pretty interesting. Even took the lead, but the Wizards come up big down the stretch. Big plays from the Young Whiz kids. an absolute monstrous performance protecting the rim for Alex Sar who had eight blocks tonight. Just so many good things to go around. But Abdullah, I’d say right now the one thing I’m focused on. It just feels good to win. It feels good to celebrate and talk about a win right now. You can make fun of us. I get it. It’s summer league, but basketball is freaking back in the nation’s capital or in Las Vegas. A win is a win. I love it. Alex freaking Sar 16 points, 12 rebounds, eight blocks, nearly a triple double. I get it. It’s summer league. But the one thing I don’t like, Ben, about people that hate on Alex Sar is if he played bad, they would be like, “Oh, he sucks.” Blah, blah, blah. When he plays good, it’s like, “It’s just summer league.” Eight freaking blocks. Drew Timmy was scared to put a shot over him after that seventh or eighth block. Are you freaking kidding me? By the French kid hosting a block party in Vegas. This is what I love to see. This is what I want to see. Alexar being the aggress aggressive rim defender. And once he develops the offensive back, he’s going to be an elite two-way center. It just it’s going to take some time. Be patience. I get it. Alex Rar, can he be that five? The jury is still out there, but defensively, eight blocks, are you freaking kidding me? Look, I’ll say one thing about Alexar and his performance, and eight blocks is simply ridiculous. Uh, to put it quite frank, offensively, early on in the game, I kind of looked at it as maybe he was pressing a little bit because the first half of the game on Friday against Phoenix, he was pretty much non-existent in the first half. didn’t see much of a conscientious effort uh to get him the ball, let him go to work. And there was a clear mentality shift uh early on here in game number two that they wanted to get Alex Sar going and I think he was taking some shots that I didn’t necessarily love, but it is the summer league and I could see him working on some things. I think he still needs to get a little bit better going up strong around the rim. That’s been the biggest issue really for him so far early on in his career. But overall, a very solid night for him offensively. the kid seven to 15 from the field um and putting up obviously 16 points with 12 rebounds and comes up two blocks shy of a triple double which is unbelievable. So I got to give a lot of credit to Alex Sar tonight. He started off a little bit slow but man he was dominant for them protecting the rim especially down the stretch. Saw a lot lot of great things out of him. And what more can we say about the two first round draft choices here for the Wizards this year? Trey Johnson who has looked the part. absolutely through his first two contests and Will Riley tonight sneakily had himself a night five of six from the field including three of four from beyond the ark. He could be a nice addition offensively to this Wizards team in the right situations and tonight was a night where the opportunity was there for Will Riley and like you and I said it before the show started he looks like a kid out there. His face, you know, he’s got the baby face still going. He’s young, but he’s got a ton of offensive talent, a lot of upside that is screaming waiting to come through. And he really impressed me tonight. But we can’t say enough good things about what we’ve seen from Trey Johnson so far. He looks like a pure smooth scoreer already through his first two summer league games. He makes it look effortless. And you know, you know, to me, he’s a kid who’s 19 years old. He only played one year of college basketball. He looks like he’s been playing in the NBA for already a season or two. That’s how polished he looks offensively and comfortable. I mean, that’s the biggest thing for me. He’s confident here early on. You think back a couple summers, uh, when Johnny Davis was the number 10 overall pick, he lacked confidence. He looked like he didn’t belong on the NBA floor. Trey Johnson is the polar opposite of this kind of player. They got themselves one at number six in him. Sixth overall pick, man. Are you freaking kidding me? Trey Johnson. And overall, we’ll go back to Trey Johnson. The Whiz kids bouncing back from that summer league game one performance against the Suns where you get blown out to going up against a Brooklyn Nets team where had five first round picks. Igor Demen, Danny Wolf, they had some ballers out there. I love this performance down the stretch. Bub Carrington like a wise man once said, dagger. Shout out to Steve Buckands. If you’re a real Wizards fan, you know who that is. For three. I freaking Keshan George Ben 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists, five steals. Five steel. I mean, again, I get it. It’s summer league, but seeing the whiz kids, this is what we expected. We were hyping up this summer league team, and I freaking love it. Bob Karens, I told everyone, he’s going to bounce back from that game one performance against the Suns. 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal. I mean, how can you not be excited about this Wizard squad right now? You touched on something really important with the steals for Keshan George on a night where maybe he didn’t have his best stuff offensively in terms of efficiency, just 25% from the field and one for eight from three. Something that’s pretty uncharacteristic uh for what we’ve seen from Keshan George so far throughout his NBA career. But defensively, he is an absolute force. He can pick pockets maybe better than I’ve seen in a Wizards uniform ever. He is ridiculous on the way he is able to get his hands on the basketball and poke it free. That was something that really struck me tonight was the way they played defense on the ball. We’ll touch on that even more in the second segment, but great team defense overall from Sar protecting the rim uh to everyone else doing their part within the defensive rotations playing great on ball defense and Abdullah I noticed they foul a lot. The Wizards totally fouled a lot when guarding the basketball and I have no problem with that because it shows that they’re aggressive. It shows that they’re putting a ton of effort into being a pest on defense. That what that’s what we saw from Trey Johnson. It’s what we saw from Keshan George and Bub Carrington. All of those guys were super aggressive defending the basketball around the perimeter. And that’s what it takes to win games in this league. They interviewed Will Dawkins during the game today. I I put out a tweet about that. He very swiftly navigated the question of Mark Jones asking him if this team could find itself in the mix for the playoffs and the playin next year with how the East looks. And this is where Dawkins answer was very telling to me that the Wizards are not interested uh in winning a ton of games here in the regular season because of that top eight protected pick. He said, “We just want to go out there and win each every game. You take it one game at a time.” And that’s exactly what we’ve seen the formula here for the first two games, one game at a time. Uh some of the pieces fall into place and the Wizards are able to get the win tonight. But in the regular season, he said when you take it one game at a time, you want to see your franchise, your organization get to the place that it wants to be, but you don’t want to take any shortcuts to get there. There is a process for this. And to me, that’s Will Dawkins uh saying, you know, very diplomatically that this team probably in the ethical tank for another year. But if you have the effort that we saw tonight from the young guys on this team, the two first round picks and Johnson and Will Riley, that your two guys, Bub Sar, George, all contributing, you’re going to have a lot of fun watching this Wizards team compete night in night out for 82 games this season. It’s going to be so freaking exciting. My question has been, have we seen enough from Trey Johnson to the point where we do what Dallas did with Cooper Flag and just bench him these next two games? I think I’ve seen enough. It does suck that we won’t see him any long if we benched him. No more Trey Johnson. But do we risk the idea of him being injured during these next two games? Yeah, I I kind of was thinking that to myself early on in the first quarter or second quarter, whenever it was when Trey Johnson was cooking. I was like, I’ve I’ve kind of seen enough. Like I think I know what this dude can do out there. I don’t know if I need to see him play that much. I love to watch him play uh for the remaining games in the summer league. And this was the last game that we really expect a lot of the starters to go, including Sar uh Bob Carrington, Keshan George. So, what a way for those guys to go out here in their second stint in the summer league. Uh Cooper Flag, same situation. The Mavericks have shut him down for the remainder of summer league after putting up 31. Makes a lot of sense. They don’t need to see much more out of the number one overall pick. I don’t know if the Wizards need to see that much more out of Trey Johnson. He certainly looks the part right now. Yeah, it’s just shout out to the Whiz kids bouncing back u from that game one performance against the Suns. A lot of scrutiny was given to the young guys, especially Alex Hard, the way he started off slow. Started off slow this game, but and eight freaking blocks. This is what I’ve been talking about, putting the D and DC just getting into the paint and being aggressive. I want to see foul calls. You have, I think, 10 calls to you get fouled out. Use him. Why not use it? I know in the regular NBA game if you go more than five then you’re out. But you got to take advantage of your opportunities and this is what I like to see. Keshan George, Trey Johnson, Will Riley, Bob Carrington, Alex. This is the freaking future. Even um Leaky Black, nine points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal. Everyone contribute today. Everyone ate and it was a close game and the team closed out and that’s what we love to see. That is exactly right, my friend. One thing that stuck out today was on ball defense. We’ll get into that. Sar and Bub heard the noise. Absolutely. Those two were excellent tonight for Washington in more ways than just contributing offensively. The new point guard, Bub Carrington, a great bounceback performance for him. I think he did a lot of things well, but one thing I love from Bub Carrington tonight was what he was able to do defensively on the ball. And I know the stat sheet doesn’t necessarily reflect that is Carrington did not finish with a steal tonight technically, but he was all over the place defending the basketball. Yamar Chman uh who had a really nice day. He is a solid looking player for Brooklyn. Uh one of their top picks this year. Bob Carrington made the ball handler’s life hell tonight. I will I will put it lightly. And there was the play on the sideline where he took a bit of a fall. Showman fell down on him as well. But that’s the kind of effort that we have seen. Brian Keefe sat down Bub Carrington, Keshan George, Alex Sar uh after the game yesterday. They had a very serious conversation where they were just discussing what they were looking for out of this team, what the organization is trying to see going forward. And I know defensive effort is such a big part of that for head coach Brian Keefe and the general manager Will Dawkins. We saw the effort tonight from Bob Carrington on the defensive side. I think throughout the first two games, his defense has really impressed me. He has looked like a a great perimeter defender. Something that is going to have to be part of his game here if he wants to be the point guard of the future in DC. Yeah, it’s just a great overall defensive performance by the Whiz kids. This is something that we want to see translate. I I understand it’s summer league, but for the the crowd that says it’s just summer league, would you be having that same energy if the Wizards play like game one versus the Suns? No. You probably say the team is trash, blah blah blah. We suck. But when you when the team plays good, you got to give credit where credit is due. Also to the announcers that said Kee George or Kahan Johnson, it’s Keshan George. I I don’t think it gets harder than that. Also, Ben, another rant. Drew Timmy is about 24 25 years old. There should be a rule in summer league where if you’re above 23, you got to hang up the cleats and just wait for the regular season because seeing 19 year olds play against guys that are six, five years older than them in summer league to me is kind of outrageous. And I know Tim, he had like what 30 points. I was a big fan of him out of Gonzaga, but he played college basketball with Cory Kissper and he’s still playing in the summer. That’s got to mean something, right? I I felt like I was getting flashbacks here watching Drew Timmy because I’m so I was so used to him in a Gonzaga uniform just absolutely giving dudes the work around the painted area in college basketball in the NCAA tournament. Like, what am I wait what am I seeing right now? Why did Drew Timmy just put Alex Sar in a poster? Like, what what in the heck am I looking at right here? Uh but bottom line, another thing that we should touch on here tonight, Abdullah, was a bit of a sloppy run for the Wizards at one point, especially in the third quarter where the turnovers were starting to mount. Uh Sar and Carrington part of that problem a little bit. The Wizards finished with 18 turnovers in the game. Uh so if you want to look at anything negative from tonight, I think they could do a little bit better of a job taking care of the basketball, but a lot of the turnovers they did have were them trying to make plays in transition, which, you know, I’ll give the Wizards credit. I think they did a pretty good job uh trying to create fast break opportunities and make plays running the floor because you got a young team. Uh you might as well find ways to to run and get out in transition and create space for other players. And there were some really big moments from this game that were able to happen in transition. I think overall the Wizards do need to take care of the ball a little bit better. I agree. Especially uh in the regular season where this games are going to be more competitive. It’s hard to win games when you turn the ball over more than the other team. So hopefully that’s something the Wizards will emphasize going into the regular season. But again, love the Whiz Kids effort tonight was just amazing. Summer league time. Basketball is back. Wizards win a game. They’re one and the summer league. Next game I think is it the Sixers that they’re going up against if I’m not mistaken. So I don’t I don’t think VJ Edcomin I think they shut him they shut the the Sixers shut him down. So I don’t know. Maybe Trey Johnson could shut down. We’ll see. Maybe they’ll do the the direction with Dallas with Cooper flag. Whatever happens, maybe the year you two guys don’t play. I I’m hoping to see Leaky Black step up, Will Riley, maybe play Jir Watkins. It’s all about taking advantage of your opportunities here. And shout out to Alex R again. Eight freaking blocks. The guy’s been getting a lot of criticism recently because the whole he sucks in summer league. Eight freaking blocks. I get it. It’s the summer league, but that’s something that so great to see from a young kid who just needs that confidence. Jir Watkins, although we didn’t really see much from him offensively, he’s got some tools that could be really useful uh for this team if he’s able to earn himself a two-way contract here in DC. I think he is on the on the two-way already, but Jir Watkins really has some positive aspects to his game that stuck out to me tonight. Uh the way he disrupts passing lanes is something I noticed. It takes a high IQ basketball player to be someone that is consistently finding himself blocking off passing lanes, but this is what we expected from him. He’s a defensive maestro. I mean, that’s why you take him with the 43rd overall pick. You kind of take a flyer on a guy like that because the potential he has with his athleticism. But defensively, he looks great so far. I think team-wise, defensively, the Wizards look really good so far. And I know there’s been a couple possessions where they they’ve had some unfortunate bounces go their way, especially when it comes to rebounding the basketball. Uh but overall, you’ve had guys contributing all across the board uh in terms of rebounding for this Wizards team. Keshan George uh chips in for nine rebounds tonight, that’s massive. If you can get George to come in and crash the boards and help out Sar uh who had a great performance on the glass actually with 12 tonight, that’s something that we’ve wanted to see from Alex Sar was him to get better as a rebounder, find himself in better positioning. Uh but those two stepped up in a big way defensively tonight with Alexar obviously the eight blocks uh to go along with his 16 points. That is what you need to see from this team. No easy buckets on anyone tonight. Yeah, this was again this is what we wanted to see especially how the Wizards came out of that game one against the Suns. It was frustrating to see us you know hype up the at least me I was hyping up the summer league squad and the way they came out come game one. But love seeing teams bounce back. This is what the great teams do. you have a bad performance, you shake it off and you perform really, really good the next game. And for the Wizards, you’re going into the regular season with so much questions about what’s the starting lineup going to look like. It’s crazy to the point where we’re talking about how much talent that we have and how we’re going to distribute the minutes. And you just traded for Cam Whitmore. You still have Bal Koulali year three, the the veterans in CJ McCullum, Chris Middleton. Shout out to Tristan Vuvich. I think him, Bal, and Marvin Bagley were there watching the young guys play. The chemistry is there from the vets to the young guys and this is what we want to see. This is what Wol Dawkins is building. Another guy that I think we should touch on here before the second break is AJ Johnson has really impressed me in this summer league because of his quick first step and his athleticism. I know he’s got that slight frame uh that you know that he’s had to work on. You hope to see AJ Johnson fill out, but his first step is so quick. He moves at like 2x speed, bro. Because I I’ve seen a couple plays where you get him the ball in transition out on the wing. If he takes his first move to the basket, he gets there. He is a blur when he has the basketball in his hands. It’s going to be interesting what kind of role they’re able to carve out for him because the offensive potential is absolutely there for him. We saw it toward the latter part of the regular season for the Wizards last year and here in the summer league. He has looked really good so far. You got two Johnson’s that can go out and get you some buckets right now. Trey and AJ. I mean, keep keep the Johnson’s coming. Johnson, this this is a goodlooking offensive duo between those two right here. Yeah, I again, AJ Johnson, the guy you traded for at the trade deadline for Kyle Kosma, a first round a first round pick from last year. The young tile just keeps stacking up. We have to see what Dylan Jones, he has some untapped potential. We want to see what he can do these next two summer league games. It’s exciting. And to the point where you have so much talent, I always mention this, a year ago or two years ago, we were questioning if there was any talent on this roster at all, but Alex Sar, eight blocks, Trey Johnson just 19 years old doing what he’s doing. Just looks it looks effortless. The game looks easy to him. Bob Carrington bouncing back, hitting that three to essentially ice the game. I I love it. The Wizards, I know it’s summer, they’ll keep emphasizing it, but how can you not be optimistic about this Whiz squad? Feels good to win. And tonight was a great test. Here’s a good comment from Red Wings01. Thanks for watching. Thanks to everyone in the live stream in here celebrating a W for our Whiz Kids. Five first round picks for the Brooklyn Nets this year. This was a very good opportunity to see how some of our young talent matches up with some of the other young talent around the league. I know that’s exactly what the summer league is for, but the Nets with five picks in the first round is pretty unprecedented obviously. So, it’s a good way to see what the Wizards have. And I think the Wizards checked a lot of boxes tonight for things that we might see in the regular season that won’t necessarily translate to a ton of wins, but they’re going to be a lot of things as a Wizards fan that you can watch for an 82 game season night in night out and positive things that you’ll take away from every single night. I don’t I don’t think we we look like a team that loses 16 games in a row anymore. I I really hope that when I’m with me saying that that that’s absolutely true. But so far, I really enjoy what I’ve seen, especially from these young guys here. Abdullah Fun N. It’s going to be a fun team to watch this year. Watch out. That is exactly right. Let’s take one more quick timeout. When we come back, a little bit more on Alex Sar’s block party and our final thoughts from the Wizards 10296 win over the Brooklyn Nets here in the summer league. We are celebrating a win here on Lockdown Wizards. Hopefully we get to do this a couple of times at least next year. Well, maybe not too many times because of that top eight protected pick that Will Dawkins cryptically said in his interview today with Mark Jones on the air that the Wizards were not interested in getting away from that pick in a upcoming stack draft class. But it feels good because this is a unconsequential win here for the Wizards. the summer league. This is an opportunity one to see what you have in young players. Your two first round picks and Trey Johnson, Will Riley, who’ve absolutely looked apart so far and some of the other young pieces, Alex Sar with an eight block performance today and nearly a triple double with blocks put into the mix with that. These are the moments that as a Wizards fan, you got to live for this right now. You got to feel good about what you can get because you’re not going to see a lot of wins in the regular season. This is the summer league. They’re not facing the stiffest competition yet. This is young talent from other teams, but damn, you want to see your young talent go out there and give you something to be hopeful about. I think the Wizards have done that so far. I’m enamored with what Trey Johnson can do with the basketball. And one thing I’ve noticed from him, he needs the ball in his hands a lot. He is a dude that plays so well on the ball. I know Bub Carrington is going to be a much more ball ball dominant player this year with the departure of Jordan P. I think Trey Johnson maybe gives you similar production right now to what Jordan P was. He is such a talented shot maker with the basketball in his hands. A great first step to the basket. Has good touch with that floater that we’ve seen him pull out a couple times here throughout the summer league. I mean, this is a dude that was scoring at all three levels through the first two games. For Trey Johnson tonight, he goes seven of 11 from the field. Uh only shooting two of six from beyond the arc. So, he is scoring at all three levels very efficiently so far to begin his NBA career here in the summer league. He’s he’s been money to me. And what’s great is Ben, as gifted as a scorer he is, once teams put more pressure on him, double teams, it opens up opportunities for guys like Alex Sar to cut down the lane, Keshan George in the corner for three, Bob Carrington, everything that the defense is going to emphasize on. He can pass the ball. He can do it all. And that’s what we saw in Texas. And a young guy who’s only going to get better. I’m so excited to see how he does his rookie year. And I really think he has a good shot of winning that rookie of the year award. Cooper flag obviously with the opportunities he’s gonna get at Dallas get a lot of shots but with Trey Johnson the amount of touches he’s going to get watch out he should be a top three finalist at least. Yeah. You know you bring up a good point because Cooper Flag is already in a situation where maybe it doesn’t favor him uh to actually win the Rookie of the Award. A lot of talent still over there in Dallas. That’s a team that still has championship aspirations despite trading away Luca Donuch last year at the deadline. Uh, but this Wizards team, this is going to be a big opportunity for Trey Johnson to have the ball in his hands often. And so far, from what we’ve seen, I’d like him to have the ball in his hands. He’s a guy that you can give the basketball to and he won’t say, “Trey, we need a bucket. Go get one.” He has been that kind of player. And even on broken possessions where, you know, there was the one opportunity for him that he had in the fourth quarter where he was guarded by Jagorman uh pretty closely, lost the handle initially, he was able to reather himself and draw contact on the jump shot. Uh, it says a lot about Trey Johnson. He’s able to score in a ton of different ways and he is just great IQ-wise with the basketball in his hands. He consistently finds himself getting to the right spot, making the extra pass when necessary. He has looked like everything and much more for the Wizards through the first two summer league games. It’s absurd. Every day I think about how this man fell with a six pick. It’s a blessing. I I again hindsight 2020, but if Ace Bailey doesn’t work out, the fact that Ace Bailey goes at five and we get Trey Johnson at six and he becomes that elite three-level score that we desperately need, especially since trading Jordan Pool. Love the plan that we have here in DC, man. I can’t emphasize it enough. So, I think the plan from what we’ve heard is that most of these guys in year number two would be playing in just two summer league games. And I do agree that he does need to work on his offensive game inside. I just touched the rim has been a little hit or miss so far here in the summer league and I think especially in the first quarter of this game saw him pressing a little bit. Abd, I wanted to get your thoughts on this one more time and I know it’s a summer league game and the analyst tonight actually uh mentioned this as his response. Alex Sar when he stretches himself to the three-point line. I know he had some resemblance of success with it nearly 30% last year from beyond the ark. However, when he does stretch the floor and go out there, maybe it’ll be different in the regular season because they’ll have different personnel out there. Uh whether it’s for Shawn Holmes or Tristan Buch. If he’s out there shooting the three, who’s getting the rebound? Yeah, I saw that. Uh because it’s it’s basically five out when he is at the top of the key shooting the three ball. That’s the thing. I don’t mind him shooting the three ball, but if it’s to the point where he’s taking five, six threes a game, maybe that’s a little too much cuz I want to see him, especially if he’s if he’s cold. Take it to the hole. Bro, you’re 7 foot one. You have that frame, make a move, put your back against someone, and drop step. But like you mentioned, I think his three-point shot is going to get better. But it is somewhat concerning if he’s the one shooting from three because we got no one out there trying to get an offensive rebound. Sar just needs a little more coordination to his game I think as well because we’ve seen opportunities. I mean Alex Sar like for a dude at his size like he can dribble the basketball. He is talented with the basketball in his hands and he has a good step to get to the bucket. A couple of instances where he’s able to beat his man off the bounce. Uh he has sometimes a hard time maybe gathering himself. But I know with the long frame, the long wingspan, it makes it a lot harder on a guy at his size to gather himself quickly, get himself in a good position to get off a good shot. Um, but I think it needs to be a little bit better that also lob opportunities is somewhere where he needs to be better. He had a case day where he might have been fouled. I never got a replay at it. And him and Bub seemed to be pretty adamant that there should have been a foul down there, but the the blob came in from Bub and Sar went up. I don’t know if he missed it. I don’t know if he was prevented to get the basketball because he was fouled, but those are the opportunities that Sar needs to capitalize on because he could be a legit lob threat in this league with his size and his speed and the athletic ability that he possesses to jump and get up there. So, I mean, that’s one thing is coordinationwise. I don’t know how coachable that is, but that’s something that you just hope to see develop a little bit there for Alexar. My question is, Ben, when can we have a discussion and fully make that conclusion that he’s better at the four than the five? Because I’ve heard people talk about that. I think we’re gonna have to see how things play out throughout the regular season because they do get Tristan Buchvich back on the two-way contract. They’ll see how they utilize him. Expect him to have a larger role this year, but you you just never know. Rashawn Holmes, will they guarantee the rest of his contract? Will they wave him to save money or try to trade him? It’s going to be interesting because they’re going to need him at plenty a handful of times to go out there and play the five. But I think we still need to see another regular season of him developing his game, you know, offensively, defensively as a rebounder before we can really make the conclusion on where he’s best fit. We might get a pretty good idea though, uh, as the regular season rolls on here, Abdullah. Yeah. And for me, I think defensively he’s only going to get better with I mean, eight blocks is absurd. get it summer league. Offensively, that bag needs to develop. Needs to be more aggressive, play like a sevenfooter. But I’m excited for Alexar. The haters, they’re always going to hate say whatever he they can when he performs at the slightest. That seems wrong. But at the end of the day, Alexar going into year two, I think he’s going to have a big jump. Shout out to all of you who joined us for the live stream. I know Wizards fans tonight are excited to celebrate a win. It feels good to win. I live for this stuff, Abdullah. There is nothing better than winning and seeing winning basketball in our nation’s capital. Tonight, we got a taste of that and an even bigger taste of some maybe future stars here in DC. Trey Johnson balls out. Alex Sar protects the rim like an absolute monster hosting a block party tonight. It was a lot of fun watching that game. I could genuinely genuinely say uh I had a great time watching that basketball game. Good competition, good bump on both sides. Shout out to the Brooklyn Nets. I think they showed some really good things uh tonight from some of their top round picks. Uh the pieces are definitely there for Brooklyn and they they gave a hell of an effort tonight. All around great basketball game. 119 people in the chat. Please make sure you like, comment, subscribe to Locked on Wizards channel. We love covering this Wizards team. I know it’s hard right now. The team’s probably not going to win that many games this upcoming year, but give it some time. Something is brewing in Washington and it’s special. Real quick, I’ll answer this question before we get out of here. I think we do. I think the way we’ve seen Bub Carrington defend the basketball is pretty indicative of the kind of strength he has developed in himself. And I know it’s kind of tough to see on these dudes. They’re all freak athletes. They’re all in remarkable shape. So, it’s kind of tough to see how much muscle these guys can put on. I think Bob has put on a significant amount of muscle. Sar uh strikes me as a little bit bigger as well. and Keshan George even though he’s kind of got the slight frame like he is sneaky very strong especially on the basketball and hey shout out to all of you guys hitting the like button new subscribers appreciate you for joining us here on Locked on Wizards a lot of fun here tonight we thank you for making Lockdown Wizards your first listen today if you didn’t catch it for the live stream and you are watching here in the morning or whenever you listen we thank you for joining in with us tonight for your second Listen, find the Lockdown NBA podcast where there’s no offseason. The Washington Wizards won their first summer league game, and the young guys were balling. Abdullah and Ben react to Alex Sarr’s 8-block game. Tre Johnson looks great. Should the Wizards shut him down for the remainder of the Summer League?

  1. How about that Hanson Yang. Really wish the wiz took a shot at him with a trade up but oh well he would’ve looked smooth as hell next to sarr

  2. I like the 2nd round draft pick played good tonight. I apologize for not remembering his name. His defense was definitely standing out for me tonight.
