Insider Provides HUGE UPDATE On Mike Brown’s Plans For Knicks Offense Next Season | Knicks News
The Knicks will be making changes next season. One of the biggest areas we’ll see change in is New York’s offensive system, which Mike Brown has already begun implementing. His goal to make the Knicks play faster in every situation. If you’re enjoying the content, please go ahead and hit that subscribe button and make sure you have notifications on as well, too. One of the biggest criticisms the Knicks faced last season was their offensive schemes and their ability to generate easier offense. But Mike Brown, he wants to fix all of that with one change, and that’s playing faster. But not just moving up and down the court faster, playing faster in every way possible. Shout out to the New York Post, Steph Bondi, for giving us this following information here. According to Jordan Brink, the Knicks summer league head coach, he stated the following regarding Mike Brown and the message he communicated to every part of his staff. According to him, we’ve communicated foundationally on what we want to do on both sides of the ball. A huge part of it, and he talked about it with you guys during his presser, it’s just playing faster. As mentioned, Jordan Brinks stated that Mike Brown spoke about the type of offense he wants to play during his press conference. Let’s go ahead and break down exactly what he said during that presser. According to him, everybody knows I like to play fast and like I said, we have an outstanding roster. I’m excited about that. And to have a guy like Jaylen Brunson out there gives you the versatility to play all different types of ways, which is what it’s going to take throughout the course of a ball game in order to win. And shout out to SNY for going into this a little bit further and breaking down exactly how Mike Brown wants the Knicks to play next season. According to them, and this is coming from summer league coach Jordan Brink, it doesn’t just mean playing up and down faster like we have to get out in transition. The fast part is all of the stuff in our actions. If we get the ball up the floor quick and don’t have anything, we’re on to the next action. Fast is really decision making. Playing with a 0.5 mentality. That’s fast, too. I think a lot of our guys early on, we want to play fast, but we don’t want to play rushed. We want to make quick decisions. This is very important to understand. It’s not just about transition baskets. It’s not just about running up and down the floor very fast. It’s about being fast in everything you do in every single situation. You’re bringing the ball up, you do it fast. You’re on defense. You have to be active and fast on defense. Whatever you are doing on that court, it needs to be fast. It needs to be quote unquote five mentality. If last season the Knicks were operating at one, Mike Brown wants them to operate at 0.5. And honestly, that makes sense. One of the main reasons for that is because of the Knicks pace. Honestly speaking, last season the Knicks were one of the slowest teams in the league. If the Knicks want to get better, they need to play faster. And if they play faster, that means their pace is going to increase. They need an offensive system that allows them to make quick decisions. And if they’re doing that and not holding the ball in their hands long enough, that’s going to help this team. That means we’re moving the ball well. We’re trying to find the open shooter. And once that player has it, he’s not gonna hesitate. He’s going to shoot that ball, drive with the ball, or make some type of action with the ball that is fast-paced. Exactly what Mike Brown wants the Knicks to run. The reason we’re hearing about this from Jordan Brink and not from Mike Brown is because right now Mike Brown is on the sidelines and Jordan Brink, he’s the Nick Summer League coach. He’s the one responsible for implementing this fast pace. But honestly speaking, when you’re trying to do that with a summer league team, you’re already at a disadvantage. All of the guys you have out there, even though they’re a team, they’re actively trying to make the main team, which is the Knicks. So, it’s very hard to run anything. However, that’s not stopping Tyler Kak from trying to implement exactly what Mike Brown wants to run. Shout out to the New York Post Steph Bondi for breaking down this following information for us. According to him, Tyler Kle is looking forward to another chance to display Mike Brown’s philosophies. According to Cole, he hasn’t addressed the whole team yet. He just got here last week, but from what the coaches have been emphasizing in summer league, I’m sure I know exactly what’s being relayed to them. It’s just playing faster. Get the ball out. We want to sprint up the floor and move the ball. Exactly what that 0.5 mentality is about. Not only do the Knicks want to play faster, move the ball up faster, they want to make quick decisions. Exactly what Tyler K needs to do. And hopefully when he makes these quick decisions, he also thinks about the team and looks at where players are because last game in summer league, he was turning the ball over a lot. And honestly, that’s not normal for Tyler K. He protects the ball a lot better. And normally when he’s making these passes, he is not turning the ball over. So I anticipate when he plays today, he will not be doing that. He’ll be making those elite passes that we know him for, not making those careless passes, getting turnovers, and all of those things. Another player I’m looking to have a standout performance today when the Knicks take on the Boston Celtics in their second summer league game is Kevin McCuller Jr. In the first game, I actually liked what he was doing. He was aggressive, he was attacking, and he was showcasing some of that two-way talent. However, his shooting is abysmal. If he wants to make the Knicks roster next season, that shooting needs to get better and it needs to get better fast. I’m not saying he has to be an assassin from the three-point range. However, shooting mid-ranges, shooting from the field, shooting some threes while open, you need to be able to do that. You don’t have to believe me, guys, but this kid, his natural position is point guard. I understand he’s 6’6 technically with the height. He’s a wing, but he’s played point guard basically for his entire career. He knows how to pass, how to rebound, and how to score. He’s a triple threat. He’s Josh Hart 2.0. And this summer league, he has the best chance to break out and show this Knicks front office exactly what he can do. His skill set and why he belongs part of this Knicks team for next season. Why he deserves a bench role for next season. We can never have enough wings on this team or at least point guards with this type of size. If Kevin McCuller Jr. can continue to be aggressive, continue to show his two-way capability, and continue to work on that shooting. If all of those things come together, he will be a significant piece for this Knicks team off the bench next season. But clearly, he has a lot of work and everybody is not only looking at him, but they’re also looking at Pakome Dier, Tyler Koh, and Ariel Huckport. And out of all of these rookies, three of them are likely going to make this team. The only question is which three are actually going to show up and prove that they belong as part of this Knicks roster for next season. In my opinion, those three guys are going to be Ariel Huckporty, Tyler Kle, and Kevin McCuller Jr. But you never know with summer league. anybody on any given night can show out and showcase what they can do. So maybe Dier does that and he overtakes Kevin McCuller Jr. at this point. It’s anybody’s guess, but I’m hoping for the best when it comes for our rookies. And clearly Tyler Kak is motivated to show everybody exactly the type of offense Mike Brown wants to run. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks summer league coach Jordan Brink revealing exactly the type of offense Mike Brown wants to run for this Knicks team next season. Let me know how you feel about that in the comment section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Please trade bridges and get someone who can score consistently
1st? Sup Troy!
Brunson will have a problem because he wants to play slow and dribble 20 times. Watch Brunson gets less time on court until he can catch up
Brunson takes a pay cut to get more talent then continues to shoot 6 consecutive possessions in a row n hold the ball for 20 sec … Not even pick & pops w/ Kat smh
Play at .5 rather than 1? That definitely requires a ten man rotation.
I love it Brunson was playing like a Nba2K random person in rec iykyk LGK
Brown will be great with this team. We need ball movement, pace and using 10-12 players throughout the regular season. I can’t wait
🔥 kolek referencing my childhood nickname pointfive. yep it was for being fast lol
Our problem isn't scoring our problem is defense Brunson and kat are liabilities we need to figure out defensive strategies to fix those two areas playing faster i don't think is the ticket
The only way the NY Knicks can play faster is their starters and their bench players must be on the same page in the fast paced.
The NY Knicks still need to get a 4th PG for insurance, if Tyler Kolek failed to improve his skills by the beginning of this season.
Play it safe
These guys are not up to buff in summer league, but y’all wanted them to get minutes on a playoff contender! 😂😂😂 Be realistic man, and let go, if they make it they make it, if they were up to it, they would play! You can’t hate a coach into a player being good!
Do the Knicks have the personnel to do that?
You haven’t mentioned Ginnias in a couple days. I guess the Knicks can forget about GF😤😤😤😤
Brown wants too play fast but he doesn't have Fox on this roster
So is this a dantoni system 7 seconds to score ?
You got to get stops to be able to set the pace of the game something the summer league guys didn’t do unless they forgot to tell them this because they looked like they had no coach
Our assistant coach should be Jeff Van Gundy if we could get him from the Clippers.
Someone tell me if the Knicks we're playing at 1, what does Brown wants them to play at point 5 mean?
Knicks have some guys that can definitely run, O.G. Mikal and bringing in bench runners Clarkson and Yabu. Shamet would be good in Brown's system if he comes back. Things definitely could gel offensively.
What is .5 Mentality mean??
I’m still not 100% with Brown.. Sooooo we will see… Excuse me, but team at times (last season) has been mental lapses especially opening the 3rd quarter. And then turnovers in the 4th quarter trying to play faster..,
PLEASE not him, he was just as trash as that King's team he coached. Only team they could beat was GSW & Lakers until Lakers swept em all last year.
So far Brink is not impressing or implementing the fast play. They should concentrate on playing the right way. Brown better be right and some performance clause. This is no reveal, we read all the insiders too.😊
