‘I’m down with the Jalen Williams deal’, Are the Thunder set up for a dynasty? | BREAKFAST BALL

A day after signing Chad Homegrren to a max rookie extension, the Thunder gave Jaylen Williams a 5-year extension could be up to worth up to $287 million. The Thunder now have extended SGA. Williams and Homegrren this off season to the tune of $822 million. Are the Thunder set for a dynasty, Greg? Well, yeah. They’re the best team in basketball. They won the championship. They’ve got the MVP and they’re keeping their core all together. And oh, by the way, they’ve got like 13 first round picks in the next five years. So, they will replenish any losses they suffer via free agency in the draft with really good picks and pick trades and all that stuff. I’m down with the Jay Williams deal. I thought he was their second best player all year uh to SG. That deal, while it’s crazy money, I understand that deal. That deal makes sense to me. In about four years, they’re gonna have $200 million annually tied up in three dudes. Chad Homegrren, Williams, and obviously SGA. I get the SGA deal. Makes sense to me. MVP. I get the Williams deal. Makes sense to me. Second best player. The Chad Homegrren deal will go down arguably as the dumbest contract ever signed in the history of the NBA. And while I get it, right place, right time, Jet Homegrren at no point in the history and the anals of the NBA is a $50 million a year player. That is a joke. Yeah, I think you’re wrong. I think it’s about potential and also what he added to the finals this season. And overall, I think OKC is looking at it, they’re not going to let history repeat themselves cuz at one point they did have KD, James Harden, and and uh Westbrook. And so they’re saying if we let that core guys go, we’re not going to let these core guys go. And we have a chance to build upon them. So I like all the deals that were made. I just want them from right now to understand like they have a small window cuz the rest of the West is going to get better. I I checked the anals and they said you were wrong that chat whole. He he blocks shots. He plays some defense. He’s got skills. He’s gonna get bigger. He’s gonna get thicker. No. So he blocks a couple shots. He gets a couple rebounds. He you But $50 million. Well, but that’s the market of a billion dollars. Well, let me answer. So you hating his pockets, but you I look No, I don’t begrudge him getting it. Good for him. You know, he robbed him. He robbed him blind. Chedomrren is not, has not, and will not ever be a $50 million a year basketball player. Jaylen Williams, I get it. Dude’s a rock star. He was their second best player all year and a dominant force in a lot of playoff games. I think we glossed right home does brings zero to the table. I think we glossed right over the question, are they a dynasty? You know they’re the second best team in the west. Did you see what the Nuggets did out there? You see what the Nuggets? Are you kidding me? Cam Johnson. You see what? But they Yeah, they address the situation. No, they are set they are set up with three. I mean, you talk about SG home is not a great basketball player. You talk about saying that you can agree and and you said it. SGA is one of the best players in the league. Jaylen Williams is unbelievable what he did especially in the finals. I They are set. They’ve got the Batman Robin locked up. Great. I I s like I was surprised to tell you the truth. When Homegrid signed before Williams in my head, I’m like, that don’t make any sense to me. Williams is the better player. Now, of course, he gets signed, so it makes sense. They had both deals obviously done prior to announcing it. And each guy kind of got their flowers and individual days, so I respect that as well. And I’m sorry to Chad Holgren. I’m sorry. And it’s good for you. You fooled him. You robbed them blind. Chad Hungry making $50 million a year. I mean, it’s like Rosie O’Donnell being, you know, Miss America. It don’t make sense. I think I think that they look at the potential, the growth, the 7 foot, the block. You don’t pay a guy for 50 million a year on potential. Sure. You always You get drafted all day. You get paid all the time. On potential. So, they give him the money expecting him to put on weight, expecting him to get bigger, expecting him to get more physical. got some he got balls. He knows it’s true. He’s just being a hater to Chad Homer. No, I’m not. I’m good for Chad. You just watched this man on the in the finals rebound, dominate. He didn’t dominate. He did everything you asked him to do. Him and Harstein were a great tandem on the court together. He is not a dominant basketball player. He is not No, he’s not KG, but he’s a guy who grew up loving KG. He’s a Minnesota kid. Well, I grew up loving Michael Jordan. I’m not getting 50 million a year to play basketball. Well, genetics have a play. Yes. I’m mad at my parents every day about that. There’s Chad with a blow. I understand with a three-point shot. Here goes Chad with a big dunk. I mean, he’s 9 ft tall. He dunked the ball. Good for him. Yeah, I like it. Well, he puts all my Think about Giannis when Giannis came in the league and how skinny Giannis was. And I know they’re not the same player, but what I’m saying is physically you’re going to grow into your body. You’re going to get bigger. You’re going to get stronger. Now, the injury issue, the injury issue is that’s an issue that he that he has been injured. He had the hip this year. He had some issues. So two seasons ago now he played in 32 games he was also hurt obviously coming out didn’t play at the beginning right he played in every game last year I give him credit for that he showed that maybe he’s becoming more durable played in every single game for the Oklahoma City Thunder I’m just looking at the stats here okay I’m cheating uh excuse me this past year he played 32 games I I reverse that so I apologize for that so Chad Homegrren last year in 32 games so he didn’t even play half the games for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Played less than 30 minutes a game, averaged 15 points a game, shot less than 50%, averaged singledigit rebounds per game, despite the fact that he’s 7 foot tall and had two assists per game. You cannot tell me that a guy who played in less than half of their games, who averaged eight rebounds a game, despite being seven foot whatever he is, who shot less than 50% and averaged only 15 points a game, is worth $50 million a year because if you tell me he is, you’re wrong. Let me ask you this. So he he he he’s healthy. He puts on a little bit of size. All of a sudden, he’s playing 38 minutes. When he does, it doesn’t work like that. Doesn’t work like that. But the market now he’s averaging 21 points a game. He’s averaging 10 rebounds a game. He’s averaging 38 minutes a game, right? He’s averaging four blocks a game. And now, is he worth it? Hey. Yes. Hey, basketball experts. What the? Yeah. $50 million a year for Chad home run. Like, we’re crazy. Like when they called chess agents, they’re like, “Hey, we’re going to give him 5 years 250.” The agent hung up the phone. He’s like, “Stop pranking me and you guys are crazy. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music]
