So, what are we talking about today? Well, summer league games are going on, right? And uh if there’s one young gun that is Carter Bryant that’s getting some time on the court obviously because Dylan Harper hasn’t been playing until this past weekend has been Carter Bryant and his defense. I mean my goodness um the offense is not kind of there yet. We’ll get to that in a bit. But if one thing that’s translating almost immediately from Arizona to the NBA at least through summer he play is his defense. We’re going to talk about that. Who does he compare to as far as the past Spurs great? Our guest has the name out there. You hear that? And uh I don’t know. He He’s probably gonna throw some shade at Sohan. No, it’s not Mikey Menz, by the way. Uh we’ll be discussing that and then ask the big question. My goodness, is Jones Garcia this first just give him a deal? I mean, that’s it. Just give him a deal right now because he is balling now. We’re going to talk about that and more. Let’s go to bring in our guest. He is back everybody, Mr. Rudy Compos of Sweep the League. Look at that. Rocking the San Francisco Giants cap today. Oh yeah, definitely. I’m I’m rocking the Giants, man. Rocking them as much as I can. Okay. Did you see the the tag on for all your fans out there, Jeff? Oh my. You know what? We You were highlighted in Friday’s episode in the last segment. You got you got something to eat. I need to go back and listen. You got some you got some Yeah, you you definitely got push back, man. You our guest last week, Friday, uh Ro Dominguez, he understood where you were coming from. Um but his thing was the jury is still out. Like meaning like let’s not say generational period. Yeah. You know, so jury is still out. You know, I’ll say this. by year three, it’s going to require more for Wimby to to accomplish in order to start getting those generational uh looks, but I mean to say he’s generational coming in, David Robinson had a better rookie season than Wimby statwise. Year two, I mean they won what maybe they want 12 more games, I think. Yep. So, I mean, in time, he could be generational, but as of right now, probably not as as you get more hate comments for this episode. Yeah, that’s probably the start off. Yeah, leave those comments for Rudy. He definitely loves reading them and he’ll read it on his show as well, Sweep the League. More of that later. Make sure to follow him on next again at Sweep the League. So, uh, Rudy, we know you’re kind of pressed for time today. Again, it’s a busy Monday for you, so let’s going to dive right into it. Uh Carter Bryant, you and I had a, you know, back and forth over the weekend regarding uh Carter Bryant and well, his outstanding defensive play in the uh Vegas opener, I guess. 76ers really was putting clamps down on everybody he was in front of, whether that’s them on the perimeter, recovering for a block. I mean, he recorded like what is it, three blocks in 30 seconds. I mean, his defense was on point that day. And and we saw the California Classic um is that as well. He had that one moment where I guess those the Lakers like he locked somebody down in the corner. Yeah, that has been the most impressive thing for me right now coming from Arizona being the 14th pick. If he’s going to get minutes, my goodness, he’s going to get minutes because of what we’re seeing so far defensively. Your thoughts? Yeah, you know, Carter Bryant um showing why he should have been a top 10 pick. I know based off of Arizona play, he was a guy coming off the bench, basically reserve at Arizona. But had he stayed another year, he would have been in mentions with, you know, player of the year candidates uh for the NCAA. And that that kind of shows, you know, did he did he come out too soon? Possibly. But he actually came out at a very good time because he got picked by a team that has a great a great lot of a lot of depth at the position. So, he can learn. He’s going to be learning behind a whole lot of great guys, a whole lot of great players. He’s got a lot of mentors when it comes to Manu Jenobi. He’s got a lot of mentors that comes to Tony Parker, Bruce Bow, a lot of the former Spurs. Uh, but overall, I mean, the kid coming into summer league and I don’t want to put too much emphasis and, you know, get too too excited for even Spurs fans, but what you see is what you’re gonna get out of Carter Bryant. I mean, it’s a first uh it’s a defensive first mindset. It’s a teamet. It’s a leadership mindset that you’re getting. Is he gonna wow you with shooting? Absolutely not. Is he gonna wow you with 20 points, 17 points a game average? Absolutely not. Where he’s going to make for all the stuff that he needs to work on is on the defensive side and being a great teammate. Yeah, absolutely. During the game of the opener against Vegas, ESPN interviewed Brian Wright and when he started talking about the defensive side of things for Carter Bran, he said, quote, “Defensively, he is a monster. He’s immense is what he said.” So, that’s some high praise from the guy that wanted to pick you. Even went as far as to tell everybody after the draft that they were willing to trade up to get Carter Bryant. Do you think that’s where he’s going to get his bread and butter next season? because there’s some thought that he’s going to spend time in Austin maybe. So, but if he keeps on doing what we’re seeing through the summer elite play, again, we don’t know how much longer he’s going to play. You know, we know the SP every all NBA teams are notorious for pulling out their best players or top rookies like after one or two games and that’s it. But barring that, that’s that’s his path to I want I’m not saying to avoid Austin like in a bad way, but just getting in with the big boys, the varsity team versus going with the JV team. It’s got to be the defensive end, right? Yeah, that’s going to be his bread and butter as a defensive uh on the defensive side of the ball. It’s going to get him the most minutes when it comes to playing on the active varsity roster for the Spurs. Do I see him in in Austin? I kind of think what I kind of mentioned was that we’re probably going to see him in Austin during those off times for San Antonio where Austin may have a game, they’ll probably send him to Austin for that game, then call him right back up. Something that we have seen with a couple of rookies in the past or a couple of young players. So, I kind of maybe foresee that happening. And the opening day roster, I’m going to say right now it’s probably a yes that he probably will make that opening day roster. uh losing Malachi, losing Blake, uh obviously gave you two more spots that are going to be opened up right around that three guard, two guard, you know, even the point guard position somewhere where Carter Bryant does fit. So that’s why I really think you may see him on the opening day roster. But again, the type of player that’s going to kind of go back and forth from Austin to San Antonio. Austin mainly to work on his offensive side of the ball. But you know what what we’re going to see is the defensive intensity. It’s going to be old Spurs basketball for him. It’s the type of basketball that, you know, we grew up and a lot of people grew up with. You know, Pop basically instilled the defensive mindset on his teams. And Carter Bryant brings a lot of greater defensive intensity as you can tell from the summer league. And again, it’s just summer league. I totally get actual NBA stars and players are a lot different and a lot better, but it’s a good site to see for Spurs fans that may have thought, man, why Carter Bryant and why not this person? Yeah, exactly. And, you know, I’m glad you’re highlighting that that this is summer league play. He’s going against guys that more than likely are not going to be on the NBA team. Likely be overseas or on the G- League roster somewhere. But this is what he did in that first half against Philadelphia. This was just the first half everybody in uh again three blocks in 30 seconds, one steal, two rebounds. And again, that was just in the first half in summer league play. And again, showing that intensity. And what was interesting was during the show or the game, I should say, during the timeout, ESPN spoke with Brian on the sideline. He said this quote, I got it right here. He goes, “I don’t care if you’re 7 foot 280 pounds. I don’t care if you’re 6 feet 120 pounds.” just to highlight his defensive uh tenacity. Now, you know, we kind of teased this a little bit or at least I did, you know, coming into the show was that you you in the text exchange we had, you kind of threw the name out of Sohan. Now, Sanhan is the considered the I would maybe the second or the third best defender on the Spurs roster right now. Uh but you see a higher ceiling for him defensively than Stan, do you? Yeah. So, you know, again, you know, before everybody starts, you know, calling me out for bashing on Sohan, it’s not a bash. It’s just obvious observation. And Carter Bryant coming into the league is what I feel scouts, coaches, and, you know, even fan bases figure Jeremy Sohan would be coming into the league. But both guys, I mean, Jeremy wasn’t a starter at Baylor. Uh again, I he wasn’t even projected to be a lottery pick, you know, during in that draft, but sometimes, you know, coach and staff and sometimes GMC things in players that other people don’t, so they take an opportunity and a chance knowing that they’re not going to be available later on in that first round, so you grab them early. Carter Bryant brings a lot more quickness on the defensive side of things. He brings a lot more intensity. He’s exactly what fans were hoping Jeremy would. Now, again, the knock’s not on Jeremy. Sohan, he can still be that player. You have seen him improved, you know, throughout his campaign with the Spurs, but with Carter Bryant, he’s a lot more polished on the defensive end. He’s more engaged than what we’re seeing out of Jeremy in his first year. But then again, you know, to top it off, if you talk about ceiling wise, Carter Bryant, his ceiling, uh, it’s he’s got a huge amount of development left to go and that’s saying a lot because he’s already there on the defensive side from what we see and just to know that there could be so much more improvement. The sky’s is the limit. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, I’m with you right there. Um, I’m moaning I’m I am tempering expectations because again it is summer league games from the coach to even Carter Bryan himself. They do recognize that these games are not meaningless but they’re glorified practices. Yes. So, you know, you’re allowed, you know, 10 fouls in a game in some way. I should tell you. And that’s not to say that Bryant doesn’t have uh some holes to fill. You know, again, know he’s gambling a lot right now. Again, he picked up seven fouls in one game out of the California Classic. Yeah, there’s that. So, but again, that’s he needs to take advantage of that, you know, to get used to the physicality. How much can he get away with on the NBA level defensively? So much more. Hey, we’re not done talking about Carter Bryant. When we get back, we’re going to continue our chat about this. And who does Rudy Capo see as a cop and is a Spurs great that Carter Bryant may be uh aspiring towards? We’re going to talk about that right here on Lockdown Sper once again with Rudy Kopas of Sweep the League. He is on X at Sweep the League. Hey, I want to talk about the hungry. Let’s be honest. First joined by Rudy Compass of Sweet Delete kicking us off here on a Monday and locked on Spurs. As always, we appreciate Rudy taking time out of his schedule for us. Now, we’re talking about Carter Bryant and that great defense he’s been displaying on the court. I go from Brian Wright just praising him uh to even Carter Bryant himself saying, “Hey, you know, I don’t care if you’re sevenfooter or a sixfooter. I’m going to lock you down.” So, that’s good and all, but you know, we’ll get to your comp in just a bit, uh, Rudy, but offensively, he seems to be struggling right now. I’m not worried about that. Are you worried about that? Uh, no. No. I mean, it was something similar to uh, past guys like, you know, Tony Parker coming in struggling offensively, couldn’t knock down a jumper. You saw Kawhi Leonard, you know, him having to work on his offensive game. Most recently, Stefon Castle, rookie of the year last year. Again, the offensive concerns coming in, they they shouldn’t be concerns at all. It’s something that at the pro level, you’ve got great coaching staff, you’ve got great uh shooting coaches, they’ll be able to get you in in tip-top shape on the offensive side of the ball. Shooting concerns, not a problem. He is known as a 3 and D guy, so we know he can shoot the three. Just a little observation uh because you know I do a lot of the draft analysis and stuff for a sweep. One of the videos that I am looking at over constantly when it comes to summer league play. I’m trying to watch him on his three-point shot because he knows a 3 and D guy. He was able to shoot three ball at Arizona. That should be his forte, but he tends to be rushing his shot a little bit. Once he starts working more with the coaching staff, it’ll be a more fluid type of jump shot. He’ll be start knocking down a lot more threes. But no, offensively, don’t even worry about it. Yeah. Uh Brian Ryan’s not even worried about it as well. Again, during that opener in Vegas, uh right, Tony SPN, that hey, a lot of guys coming here looking to show off offensively. What Carter’s doing is show off defensively. And he said that is just the right mindset. That just shows a maturity level to his game. Offense will come. I agree with you. Tim Duncan stunk up his first game at Summerly. You remember Wimby? I mean, they’re already calling him a bust in his first summer game. Let me Yeah. He like Yeah. Five points. shot the ball horribly. Uh, so it happens. I’m not worried about that. So I I we’re already seeing the defense translate immediately and that’s the best skill to have translated from the college ranks to the pros. So check that off. Offensively, little work zone, but not too much. He has a full off season, pre-season training camp to get that going. So I’m not worried about that. But, and we even mentioned this in the f the first half, you know, it’s all about the comparison to him and Sohan, you know, he looks like he might have a better ceiling, but you’re not looking at him as just a defensive guy only. You’re seeing it as a well-rounded player. Defense brings it, offense brings it, three shot brings it. Dare I say, you’re thinking Shawn Elliot. I mean, that’s some lofty goals there. Uh, lofty goals, but let me give you some some quick stats. Sean Elliot’s rookie here. He averaged uh 25 minutes a game. He averaged 10 points a game, three rebounds a game. Shot 86% from the free throw line. But get this, he only shot 11% from three-point range, 48% from the field. So I’m when I texted you about Shan Elliot comparison, you gota you got to look at it like this. You know, Carter Bryant coming in, you know, he’s a defensive guy. Deshawn Elliot was regarded as one of the best defenders on the Spurs roster and he was really quick with his feet. You know, he was a very smart basketball IQ guy. Something you’re seeing exactly with Carter Bryant. Now, again, you know, I’m not saying he’s going to be a two-time all-star. you know, he’s going to put up, you know, godly numbers or get up to 20 points a game like Shawn did one time in his career. But if we’re looking at it, if Carter Bryant basically develops that mid-range game where Shawn Elliott was really good at, you know, two or three dribbles to the basket, popping shot type of thing, able to improve to uh his three-point shooting up to around 30% the very next year, which is his second year. Those are the kind of marks that I see for Carter Bryant. And that’s where I kind of look at him when it comes to Spurs fans. I look at, okay, let’s hope the trajectory for Carter Bryant is along that Shauna Elliot path. Is he going to be as great as Shaun Elliott? I don’t know. But on defensively right now, he sure as hell is on that level with him coming in. But again, if you get into his rookie season, Jeff, and you know, he’s averaging about nine points a game, two rebounds a game, that is really good for Carter Bryant to start this rookie campaign. Second year, you’re going to see a little bit more and more and more improvement. That’s my comp as far as the Spurs go. Overall, NBA wise, Jeff Green is one that you would want to maybe look at. But one guy I really like in that circle, if Carter Bryant looks in to be maybe like a Trevor Arza type of guy. Nice. Trevor Rizo was 6’8. Could shoot the three, could score, average probably around what 10 12 points a game, a maybe about a steel steal and a half a game for his career. That’s where I look at the comp for Carter Bryant. Trevor Reza made a big difference on a lot of teams. He was a really great player. But, you know, could it be better than that? Possibly. But I have him right around NBA ranking. Trevor Reza, Jeff Green right there. But as far as a Spurs ranking goes, he could be as great as Sha was. Yeah. Yeah, I I hope he gets to the shy out level, but I think this will be even tougher for him in San Antonio right now because he’s not going to be the first, second, third, not even the fifth option. Sean was like maybe the second eventually became the second option because his rookies, it was still Terry Cummings, you know, ahead of him. David Robinson was ahead of him. Sean Rod Strickland was there ahead of him. But the point is is that this current iteration of the Spurs, there’s a lot more options. They’re loaded and Carter Bryant will be on the floor. now that’ll be down the totem pole. So, I mean, if he can get to that and force the team to, hey, you know, maybe he’s not just a whatever option, you know, whenever he’s the ball’s in his hand, you know, we got to elevate him. So, that’s something I think is going to hold him back, which is a good thing in San Antonio. That means the Spurs are loaded. What do you think? You think he’ll eventually become the second best defender on the roster? Maybe not next season, maybe not season three. And depending if Sohan is still around, we don’t know. But if he’s still around, I kind of think he will become the second best defender on the Spurs right behind Wimi. Second best defender with the current team going. I’m looking up right now. That’s a head even of De’Arren Fox and his I mean, you got to remember Stefan Castle is a great defender as well. Darren Fox was I mean, averaging almost two skills a game when he became a Spur. Ryan has more length than Castle. He does. Yeah. He’s taller. Um not necessarily in his hand as much as it’ll be in in Stfan. He can gamble a bit more. That’s how I’d see it. I go I’ll go this far. I think if it pans out, which I really think it will on the defensive side, taking out his rookie campaign, I say he’ll probably be the best on ball defender when it comes to San Antonio. So when you’re having to guard the likes of, you know, maybe a Cooper Flag or uh I don’t want to say Kevin Durant. I mean, because I mean, these guys are kind of past their prime a little bit. I mean, they’re getting ready to retire in a few years, but you know, Aluca. Yeah, I think you’re looking at a one of the best on ball defenders uh in the league. So yeah, that that’s kind of where I put him overall. Defensively, I mean, between him and Victor, you got Stefan Castle. Yeah, I’ll be honest, man. They’re going to be one of the best defensive teams in the league. Oh, they are. They They definitely are. Um, but hey, you know, it looks like the Spurs are definitely shaping up a solid roster going into the new season. I just Carter Bryant, it’s Wimy coming back healthy. It’s, you know, Devin, it’s Kellen who’s understood his role now as a six-man. And just all around this team is just looking really primed to go and make some noise in the West. It’s very interesting some summer for the Spurs. It’s getting better. You can start seeing that light at the end of the tunnel. The rebuild is getting brighter and brighter and brighter. So hopefully good things are coming. And Carter Bryant will help the Spurs get out of that rebuild. He is Rudy Compos of Sweep the League. Follow him on X at Sweep the League. When we get back, we’re going to put Jones Garcia in the spotlight. My goodness, he’s been balling out of the summer league, hasn’t he? Should the Spurs offer him a deal? We’re back right here on Lock Sports joined by Rudy Compos of Sweep the League. He’s our next at Sweep the League. He’s going to talk about his show in just a few minutes and it is growing fast. It really is. He’ll brag about everything that Sweep the League is turning into in a good way in just a few seconds. Uh you were talking about the summer league and Carter Bryan and you know he’s definitely showing out defensively but the one guy who’s showing out offensively it’s I mean Jones Garcia I mean you go on social media and Spurs fans are saying Brian Wright you better you better sign him I had one fan tweet at me or post at me I guess on X8 this will be one of Brian Ray’s greatest failures if he doesn’t sign Jones Garcia or if another team scoops him up because technically that’s what could happen in summer league right now. Just because Jones Garcia is playing for the Spurs doesn’t mean the Bulls or the Mavericks or the Rockets can come and sign him. It’s kind of a free-for-all right now. He’s not under contract with the Spurs as of this recording. So, he’s putting up 20 plus points a night. He’s making it look easy. He has a lot of experience. He played in the G- League Capitan last year. I think he’s with the Bulls ro I’m sorry the Jazz roster for a while as well. This this guy man I I mean he looks like a man among boys right now in the summer league play. Your thoughts on him? Yeah man kind of like a a journeyman for the NBA standards. I mean drafted I think in or he was supposed to win undrafted in 2024 out of Memphis where he averaged 21 points a game, seven rebounds a game. Shot about 38% from three-point range. goes to Mexico City with a capitan. Averages 21 points a game there and six rebounds a game. So, he’s kind of been a journeyman, but yeah, I mean, total surprise probably for everybody except Jones Garcia. He knows he can play ball and he’s shooting lights out when it comes to summer league play. You want to continue to see it happen and you you’ve got to understand the fans, man. You got to give them what they want. And I’m in full agreement that minimum minimum he deserves a contract with the Spurs. Whether it be to stay in Austin for a little bit or whatever, but he does deserve at least a two-way deal for San Antonio. Him and Raleigh Min is the other guy that I think deserves both of them. But more so, Jones Garcia putting on a show. And I mean, come on, Jeff. The the jerseys sell themselves in San Antonio. So, you may as well. You want to get that extra resin. You’re amazing. I’ll put tape just but instead of Jones, I’ll put my name first, Jeff. But here’s the thing, though. Sure, he’s balling out of the summer league and that’s great. Uh, he looks like he’s going to be a gem for the Spurs if they sign him. But he’ll probably not get playing time in San Antonio. They’re just too many guys. There’s way too many. I mean, you will put him at the one, no, can’t do that. Put him at the two, he’s going to be buried. At the three, buried. So, he’ll likely be on an Austin roster or riding the pine in San Antonio. I think the Spurs should get them. They should give him offer right now. Two-way deal is perfect. Look, you’re going to have load management days. You knock away what doesn’t happen, but it does happen. Players get injured. They get nice re nice ability to recall him from Austin or call him up and throw him out there. And it looks like he can do it all. I mean, just it’s not just offense of how he creates for other people, how he’s in the right spots at the right time. Just plays with a good head on his shoulder. So, he is definitely a gem, you know, right up there with, you know, your your Gary Neils, your Brent Forbes, all those guys that they found in the summer league and made impact uh in San Antonio. But yeah, Spurs fans going to be riding if the Spurs don’t get him or another team scoops them up. You know, this Spurs summer league roster, it’s it’s filled with a lot of gems and people, I think, are are not highlighting a whole lot. Uh, I mean, you’re seeing the guys like Harrison Ingram, who was drafted what, a year ago, spent time in Austin. He’s having, you know, a very steady summer league in these past few games. Of course, we mentioned Jones Garcia, we mentioned Min. I mean, uh, you’ve even got guys like Mongus who played the other night. Kongas. I mean, you’ve got a lot. Nelson Jr. is another one to keep an eye on. You, this whole roster is loaded with guys that are are gems and could play somewhere. not with the Spurs, but you may see them pop up anywhere around the NBA. One guy to keep an eye on and to look forward to is a guy Dexter Dennis, and he’s going to be on a roster somewhere. And again, this enjoy this summer league for the team because this is going to be one of the summer leagues to remember. Absolutely. You know, Rudy, I cannot let you go without this little item. I got to ask you if you’re going to buy this. Hopefully, it’s not a YouTube comment, but Okay. Okay. No, it’s not a YouTube comment. No, no, no. Uh, in case you didn’t know. Yeah. And John Cena is having a farewell tour. Okay. That’s it for him. And he’s going to make his stop in San Antonio, I believe, this month for Smackdown. Okay. So, to honor Cena’s final visit in San Antonio as a WWE wrestler, the WWE Entertainment released this. Rudy, are you going to get it? Are you going to get the Fiesta themed John Cena Spurs Fiesta theme, I should say, tidal belt. Look at that. You got the retro colors on there. You even got the jewels that are in the retro colors. I’m not done yet. Look at this one. Look at that. Look at the back view. Look at that. You got the Spurs logo shield. Not, you know, the shield behind the Spurs name. Uh there you got San Antonio on there. Cena’s name on there, his farewell tour. This is like a WWE Spurs fan dream right here. But Mr. Compost, do you have $600 to shell out for this? I I have $600 to shell out for it. I just won’t. I If it was without the whole John Cena farewell and Cena stuff on there, I would have gotten it in a heartbeat. I don’t mind the WWE logo, but all the Cena stuff. That’s just a little What if it was just a WWE logo, not the Cena salute? Yeah, if it was the WWE logo only, I’d get that in a heartbeat. There’s no doubt about it. What you got against Cena, though? I can’t see him. I don’t think anybody ever has seen him, right? Is that That’s the biggest thing you got on. Look at that. You see the logo there? Uh it’s it’s like it’s too much. I mean, for me, it’s too much. I’d rather go get which I’m going to do. I’m gonna go spend that hard earned money on the the Soundwave Lego that’s gonna be coming out soon. As hard as all that, man. Look at that. How How can they get away with this though? It’s kind of pushing it, you know, but encroaching on the copyrighting there. I mean, the shield, the logo, the colors logo, the Spurs logo. Yeah. Um, it’s not an exact copy, so I guess it’s fine. Well, you’ve got to look for the differences. I mean, in that Spurs logo where it says the last time is now, is there an extra dot div somewhere? I mean, if there’s not and it’s the exact same, I don’t understand how the Spurs are saying, “Hey, wait a minute. Where’s our cut?” Cuz that’s kind of our our whole logo, our color scheme, even the San Antonio 2025, that’s their uh that was the retro thing that they were using for a while there. So, I I don’t know. I can’t really say, but kudos to WWE. You know how to sell belts in San Antonio. Oh, yeah. For sure. Yeah. I I’m okay with the Cena on there. It’s just 600 bucks for that. And it’s something I would never wear or, you know, just nobody would ever see, you know, unless I hang it back here. Some sort of background lock on, but I spend $600 for that. That’s for sure. But, you know, they do have a backup plan. The $600 is out of your price range. They have a t-shirt. And now that one, the same thing. It’s a black t-shirt with the retro color. It’s pretty much what you saw in the middle here. You know, him saluting like that. Think of that on a t-shirt, but on the back, the you can’t see me phrase. Now, that they’re pushing it. They said instead of a yo, you put the letter U with a spur coming out of it. I’m not kidding. That’s okay. I mean, that’s a little bit more on the trademark side there. Copyright not too. Thanks. Did the Spurs find the second coming of Manu with J Garcia? and Bowen 2.0 with Carter Bryant 🤔💕
Carter’s combination of physical tools, motor and passion for defence are uncommon. God dam that first block against Philly 🤯. Hard to believe his 19, articulates himself well and composed.
Scottie Pippen
Bryant's defense is why i wanted him badly. He's got good shooting form so not too worried and don't need him to score too much early on.
They said the same about Kawhi Leonard in reference to his shooting. He worked on his shot with the trainers and boom All-NBA.
Kawhi's offense was meh at the beginning of his career but he developed as one of the best two-way players in NBA history (of course, he had Chip England as well). Defense is not something that comes out of practice so I like he already has the defensive mindset. His offense could come soon as he progresses.
I think Bryant could be Bruce Bowen 2.0. I believe his shooting will only get better and if he becomes a reliable spot up shooter with elite defense, he will be very tough to keep off the floor.
