Coach Munson Postgame Press Conference vs. Timberwolver π Game 2 | 2025 NBA 2K Summer League
up game two here at summer league. Uh a little bit like game one. Uh we had just a stretch in the second quarter where the game got away from us a little bit. So we were fighting uphill uh the rest of the game. Um offensive rebounds really hurt us in the first half and turnovers um in that stretch. Uh but really proud of the guys again. Just uh they could have easily let go of the rope. They kept fighting. I think we had it down to seven uh at one point with the ball. Um so really proud of the effort in the second half. We just got to put 48 minutes together. What did you see in terms of Spencer Jones play from game one to game two? uh really aggressive. Um obviously shots went in. Uh was just happy to see him uh be a little bit more aggressive. Uh his game is always going to be defensive defense first, but that’s still we still want him to be aggressive to shoot the ball, especially when he shoots like that. How did you see Tamar Bates kind of find his rhythm in this one? Yeah, I mean like we’ve talked about he can can really put in the hole. So, uh we want to try and get him in space, let him attack, and and I think he had a some really good examples of that. Um better than game one. And I think it’ll just keep getting better as we go. The more that you get to see Don out there and just kind of getting his legs under him after the injury, like what what are you guys kind of looking for specifically the most and trying to sort of stress to him just from a physicality standpoint some of that? Yeah. Um I mean physicality is a great one. Uh just learning how to to play. I mean they got a really big team over there. So uh that was a good challenge for him with physicality and also uh being aggressive, being shot ready. You know he’s one of the best shooters in this whole summer league. So, we want to make sure when he’s open, he’s he’s got to shoot it, right? Coach, I Baji didn’t play, but what have you seen from him so far? Um, Baji’s a a really really impressive uh presence at the rim. Uh can can really protect the rim defensively, cleans up the glass, and uh we know he’s always a a threat, a lob threat to get on the rim. So, um definitely want to try and get him out there in the next few games and give him an opportunity. Uh but uh we know what he can do and we’re excited to see him. What themes have you noticed through through two games? Uh just trying to put 48 minutes together. Um definitely the physicality defensively. Uh when we do that, when we are physical at the point of attack, that makes a big difference. Um we’ve really emphasized shrinking shrinking the floor, taking away the paint, which has been good. We just got to be a little bit better when we close out with high hands. You know, Shannon got it going in that first half. So, um but we’ll clean that up and uh be back at it the next game. the Bulls team had a lot of, as you mentioned, size, um, athleticism, a lot of like first round draft picks. Um, what type of challenge is that like for your guys and what do you think they can look for? Uh, yeah, I mean, a lot of really talented guys on that roster, guys, uh, played big minutes for them, played in the playoffs, played in the Western Conference Finals. Uh, so it’s a great challenge. It’s, uh, it’s a good introduction. It wasn’t just, you know, typical pickup summer league. It was, you know, some really high level professional players. And it’s a good uh good learning experience to see what it takes to to succeed at this level.
