Philippines’ HISTORIC Victory | FIBA Basketball
Here’s Castro. Castro all the way up and it’s a one point Filipino lead. Jason Castro check position. He goes Castro again. Two points at the front now. Do goes inside and out on Pingris. Do sets a big Castro go and it’s an eight-point lead for the Filipinos. The response is perfect from ice running through those veins. I think La Tenorio pulls up for two. Oh, got to be careful. Kim who’s sung there very physical certainly is and is blocked and a little tip as well. It’s a five-point game again. La Tonorio [Applause] Kim in the post and again Ningu Kim and again the same is touch the shot and stay out of trouble. Goes inside [Music] Philippines. They have to to protect the fouls. Oh, lovely dump in the steering toe to toe to Norio first lap eight point lead to Morio’s given two the bonus to come everybody in the gym trying to put him off but they don’t succeed a bit less for sure Alipagio rescues it alip big inside Aguilar He drops it. Big rest. New beauty. Alip bag for three. Jimmy with 70 seconds remaining in the third. The three goes up and in. They will not go away. 6 seconds. Alip bounce pass. pass into a back into as they got a plan B to go to that is a huge threeo he goes inside as well pulls up and off the glass and swed off the bench it’s exactly what the Philippines need a nice calm disciplined offense ending in a balanced shot goodness that stroke side loses the ball dangerous times for the Philippines two-on-one for career and they score. It’s a three-point. Bring it up. Resets Kempo. Oh, that’s calm offense. That’s beautiful. Absolutely. Just comes across and screens for him. Four on the shot clock. Daniel gets his own rebound. Look at the defense of Norwood inside the defense. I think that angle she’s not playing enough D in there. Castro five on the shot clock. Little hesitation from Castro. The pass inside to Pris. Castro his third assist. [Applause] And the foul is a point play. This 27 personal Castro looking for something from three-point range. No three-pointer there. And the rebound and the outlet pass. This is going to be a dunk. It’s a one-point lead now. Post looking to turn around and score and he’s fouled. He’s got two shots to come. First is good wing numbers. A wonderful athlete. Former Harlow Totter, but he misses this. The big nice roll inside and the jump hook is goending. Look at that battle in the paint. Pingris is being musled out of it there. Hallelu out there. Alipe for three. So the Philippines will take three instead of two. So much Lee sets it big. It’s back toward inside for two points. It’s back to in front of it. Alak the bullet pass. The three is good. Let’s go. Joe Campo wish it a four point Filipino lead. Nerves of steel. Nerves of steel. 11 points for Joe Campo. He can’t afford to do his foul. Stay out of foul draw. Let him get a shot. Ningu test it. But don’t foul. There’s the foul on the give up easy points here. Dongyang hits the third. And he hits them both on this occasion. Positive. They can’t afford to get a miss. Remember that Korea are not in a penalty. Shot clock six. Alip pulls up for three and hits it. It’s a fivepoint lead. The place is going for 54 in regulation. Look at those happy faces. But it ain’t over yet. Spain next year. Jin Alip, let’s say he’s getting a little bit emotional given up easy here. One defense might do it. One stop will win this game. Here we go. Career run forward. Time out. That’s blocked. Blocked again. The ball. Bring it out. over young block now. Castro 33 seconds of 25 seconds on the shot clock. Taking the move to four not for a game. 5 seconds on the shot clock. Castro 10 seconds. This place is wrecking. And the Filipinos get the ball. They’ve seen every other they probably have. They have rights. 8679. The Philippines in the battle. Can’t believe it. He’s in tears. [Applause] 867. [Applause] And what a ladder without the services of Marcus Ded for most of the game. Wow. Shimal 14 points, Alexio nine. Jeff Chang six, Jason Castro 17, Dambo 11, and Mark Pingris a big 16 points and 10 rebounds. There he is hobbling of double double the marking of 16 and 10. There are tears streaming down the faces of these Filipino players. Players, fans, everybody all around the country. What an incredible scene. And you know as much careers, you know, this is what this country needed. It’s what this tournament needed. A ticket to the World Cup. Viva Espña, Jim Alipang, the inspiration of the Philippines. Did he hit some big threes all in the clutch? Jason Castro, well, going into the hoop, getting some miraculous plays. Mark Pingris, well, he played he had so much core time and he did so much damage. Such a strong beast inside. All this with Marcus Daffy, their naturalized American getting two points and three rebounds because these men right now might still win. [Music] down. Free. No one is seated here at the Mall of Asia. They’ve seen an unbelievable performance from a team who came back through adversity. And again, tears streaming down the faces of the players. Tears and sweat. And off they go to the locker room. If they can get there, if they can fight their way through the fans, what a game. The Philippines are in the final of the 27th FIFA Asia Championship. And Korea, well, they still have an opportunity to go to Spain next year. But first of all, they have a confrontation coming up against Chinese Taipei. Hugs and kisses all round. Marcus doubted. Can they rebuild him? They’ll try. [Applause] Oh, some of these players having to fight their way through. And look at that. Aguilar. How did he stay on the floor on three fouls? I can remember one absolutely sublime pass to him and he threw it down with constant ease. The great athlete Jeff Chan kiss his wife and children. And why not Gary David? What a soccer play. I got to feel tonight’s going to be a good night. And you know what, Roy? It is going to be a good night tonight. Wow. Well, it was rocket in Taipei last night after Chinese Taipei beat China. And it is going to be even rocking, if that’s the correct expression. It’ll do in Manila tonight because the Philippines are in the final of the 27 Fever Asia Championship. They have beaten Korea 8679. What a game. What a finish. And I tell you what, there’s still one game to come. And it’s Kazakhstan against Qatar for positions five, six, seven, and eight. And tell you what, none of the 20,000 fans here are even looking at the court at the moment because they’re still talking about that classic game we’ve just witnessed. The Philippines are in the final. Well, we’ve got about 25 minutes before the start of the last game and [Applause]
Relive the emotional and historic moment as the Philippines defeat Korea in the FIBA Asia Cup 2013! This epic semi-final victory ended decades of heartbreak and sent Gilas Pilipinas to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 for the first time since 1978.

Big win for the Philippines team. 🇵🇭
congrats! from🇵🇼
look at the crowd
This was 2013, and they qualified to the 2014 Fiba World Cup.. The last time where the old format of only 24 nations are allowed to be qualified and play.. They change that on the next WC back in 2019 to 32 teams so many nations can participate in the world cup. Congrats on the win Philippines.
Why you keep reposting old game of GILAS
This will always bring tears in my eyes. Of all the videos that this channel should repost, share, shorts, etc. about Philippine basketball, this is the one!
Filipino are forgetting Coach Chot Reyes is part of this history….
Lakas ng backcout ng PH noong prime pa sila Castro at Alapag
Several of the Gilas players are still playing, like Jayson Castro, LA Tenorio and Gabe Norwood, although with reduced minutes. Tenorio and Norwood are starting to transition to coaching roles; they are the coach and assistant coach, respectively of the under-16 team. Jimmy Alapag, the team captain of this team, is now living in Sacramento, working as part of the coaching staff of the Kings.
De ocampo at alapag talaga solid sa game na to
Tsamba
They broke the decade long Korean curse of losing to Korea in international games in this game. The President then declared one month of holiday in the Philippines the next day.
One of the proudest moments of the Philippines Basketball. Emotional parin ako gang ngayon every time mapapanuod ko ito.
Mlupit ung Kim ming goo nawala
Alapag, Pingris, CDO, Castro at the rest Gilas. Grave ang puso noong 2013.❤
worth it
Grabe ito at tsaka yong kay Paul Lee vs China. Nakakapaningdig balahibo at nakakaiyak.
FOR ME,THIS IS THE REAL BASKETBALL HOME GROWN BATTLE OF PRIDE BECAUSE THIS IS 💯% PURE BLOODED PLAYER FOR EACH COUNTRY,IN SHORT, WITHOUT NATURALIZED PLAYER BOTH TEAMS…🤝👍🏻💪🏻
Philippines has no chance now. Negative.
Did they win it all?
