Harper, the number two overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, logged his second summer league appearance for the San Antonio Spurs in a matchup against the Utah Jazz. The 6’6 in guard, son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, showed flashes of his high ceiling despite an uneven performance. In 25 minutes, Harper posted 16 points, two rebounds, two assists, and five turnovers on five of 16 shooting from the field, including one of four from beyond the ark and five of seven from the free throw line. While his scoring instincts were on display, Harper struggled with efficiency and ball security. The Jazz defense pressured him into rush decisions, contributing to his five turnovers. Still, Harper remained aggressive, drawing contact and getting to the line, a strength he’s carried from his high school and brief college resume. A former standout at Ruckers, his brother Ron Harper Jr.’s alma mater, Harper committed to the program in December 2023 over blue bloods like Duke and Kansas. During his lone college season, he averaged 19.4 points and 4.0 assists per game, showcasing his offensive versatility and playmaking upside. Though the Spurs are playing the long game with Harper, early glimpses suggest he has the tools to develop into a key piece alongside Victor Wanima.

  1. Imma say it, he is overrated. He can be a decent player but I don't see a role for him. What is he really, just a scoring guard with poor shooting below average playmaking.

  2. Once he ready to start full time trade fox for a nice 3 and D SF like OG or something. Thats when it’s championship time
