Reed Shepperd Goes 🔥OFF🔥 Is Summer League Game and Proves Why He Was UNTOUCHABLE!

He’s been called Chris Paul, Steph Curry. I mean, those are some nice brains for a rookie. I mean, I I don’t Here’s a three. There you go. This off season, teams inquire with the Rockets ask about you. The Suns I I was told asked about you. You were made untouchable in those conversations on the second night of a backto-back after that blowout win in Phoenix. I get a shot of Repher did and made it over the top of the of Kawhi Leonard. Shepard pull back over KJ. Oh, nasty. Just nasty. And icing on top of the rocket playoff king. A team called about you, but we’re not trading you. Like you’re good. You’re untouchable. Like, did you hear that verbatim? Uh, no, not really. Um, all right. So, I’m telling you, you know, now you get to break that news. That’s why he’s smiling. Well, now tuned in to the Dark Times challenge. And so, as many of you may know already, third round pick overall in 2024, Reed Shepard had a chance to make his second summer league debut and he did not disappoint. Short Shepard to the left, the spin bucket points. Rockets down by 10 trying to cut into that Shepard switching hands at the very end. The trap Shepard his first look. Trey be in Shepard nowhere to go. Good defense by Flowers. Shepard to the hole. Saw just he gets it in a way and he’s ready in a way that you you can’t be coming out of college. So So I’m excited for this year and Reed’s doing his best to Auburn in his junior year. He had 28 points and 28. Green Shepard gets three big ones there. We see the help defenders ready to come. Shephard the tween the fire the connect he’s on fight [Music] Shepard over Sanders away outside and so Reed Shepard definitely did his thing last night and gave us a glimpse at what he could be and what the season could look like playing for the Houston Rockets and he’s kind of one of those cases in which he kind of fell by the wayside during this season because the Houston Rockets have an ultra talented roster and Eay Doka is not the kind of coach that’s going to put somebody out there if he feels they’re not ready, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But as great of a scorer as you are, I look at that roster. I look at Kevin Durant. I look at Jabari Smith. I look at Sangun. I look at other guys that can put the basketball in the hole. You do not want to be a guy in this league that if he’s not making shots, we have to take him out the game. What are you looking to add to that team that if it’s a night where it’s not your night, it’s Kevin’s night, it’s Van Fleet night, it’s this guy’s night. What are you looking to add to make sure, hey, I’m still in rotation, I’m still going to help us win this basketball game, and I’m going to prove that to the coaching staff. Yeah, for sure. I think the biggest thing this summer was getting in the weight room and uh defensively, just working on defense. Like we had probably a two to three week stretch. I was just my workouts were straight defense. Like I wasn’t touching the basketball the first 40 minutes. It wasn’t very fun, but you know, some things we got it done. life. And so Reed Shepard definitely looks like he’s been in the weight room. He looks a lot stronger. He looks a lot more sure of himself. And Reed Shepard was always a player from what I saw last year that was going to compete on the defensive side of the ball. And I think for Reed Shepard, he was just fine-tuning some things, learning how to not get beat off the dribble. And so I think those are some of the things that he probably worked on with EA Dolan and the Houston Rockets coaching staff because he looks tremendous out there. Defensive effort. Simpson knocked away by Sheepard. Simpson. Shepard read that correctly for the steal. The lefty f Sanders looking to get around Reed Shepard. He does. And Shepard with the block. If you’re asking, hey, who is Reed Shepard as a defender? So far good. So, he’s undersized. Gets beat and he beats it up. Mhm. And I was one of those guys that I thought that Reed Shepard should have been untouchable. Him along with Jabari Smith Jr., those were the two names that we were hearing that could possibly be involved in that Kevin Durant trade that went down this summer. This off season teams inquire with the Rockets ask about you. The Suns I I was told asked about you. You were made untouchable in those conversations. So, what do you feel when you hear that? What kind of motivation does it give you? How do you feel just about where you stand right now? Yeah, I think it’s I think it’s really cool. Um, you know, for me, this is my first year dealing with all the offseason, the trades. Um, so it’s kind of crazy seeing seeing all of it go down. Um, like you said, hearing some of that stuff is is pretty cool. It gives me a lot of confidence. Um, just going into the gym, uh, continue to work on everything I’ve been working on this summer. Um, just getting better and just really looking forward to the season and trying to help as much players as I can. Is that something like the GM tells you like, “Hey, listen, like a team called about you, but we’re not trading you. Like, you’re good. You’re untouchable.” Like, did you hear that verbatim? Uh, no, not really. Um, all right. So, I’m telling you, yo, now you get to break that news. That’s why he’s smiling. See, this is And outside of Aman Thompson and Shingun, those were the two players that I felt had the probably the best upside and also were the best fit for this Houston Rockets team. You’re talking about Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Shepard. Two players that are unselfish almost to a fault almost. But that’s my kind of player and that’s a coach’s kind of player because those kind of players, you don’t necessarily have to give them 20 shots a game for them to be happy. It’s about taking the right shots. And so this is why a lot of people are expecting big things out of the Houston Rockets and also Reed Shepard. And two Hall of Fame players that you keep hearing when it comes to Reed Shepard as far as comparisons go are Chris Paul and Stephen Curry. And I’m probably leaning more towards Chris Paul because I think Reed Shepard has an opportunity to be more of a complete player than Stephen Curry. Because as great of a shooter that Reed Shepard is, he’s just as dangerous as a passer. And not just a passer, a facilitator of the ball, he’s not necessarily looking to make the assists. He’s looking to make the right pass. And that helps a team out tremendously. And then also, of course, on the defensive side of the ball, he’s a menace. And so that’s why I lean more towards Chris Paul than I do the Stephen Curry analogies. But that’s my take on it. Anyways, you guys go ahead and chime in below. Let me know what y’all think about Reed Shepard. And hopefully we get a chance to see Reed Shepard at least a few more times during the summer league. Hopefully they don’t shut him down because with a player like Reed Shepard, I think you got to continue to let him show out and dominate in the summer league and then hopefully a lot of that confidence will carry over into the season and they can go from there. But go ahead and chime in below. Let me know how y’all feel about it. And as usual, peace and chaos. [Music]

Ime Udoka’s patient approach with Reed Shepperd looks like it’s paid off. Reed Shepperd looks like he’s ready to live up to the number 3 pick overall after showcasing his talent in this years summer league.

  1. That’s why they got rid of Jalen Green. Jalen Green was a far superior athlete but I think Reed will bring consistency with 3 point shooting & help spread the floor. Amen Thompson is a great athlete who can do a little bit of everything so Reed compliments Amen better than Green. We will see how it go.

  2. HE WAS ABLE TO GET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM GET STRONGER & WORK ON HIS GAME,,,HIS SHOOTING SKILLS COMPLEMENT THE OTHER PLAYERS!!!!

  3. MAN STOP THE CAP!!! You making VIDEOS ABOUT reed sheppard YOU TALKING ABOUT reed sheppard!!! GENTRIFICATION OF THE NBA IS CRAZY RIGHT NOW!!!!

  4. Solid video, Reed is so humble and well spoken that his interviews are routinely boring (which is what most teams want). His game on the other hand… well he lets that do every bit of the talk. I’m really happy he stayed in H Town. Clutch City resurgence coming soon! 🚀🚀

  5. I don’t see the Paul comp, tbh. Paul is otherworldly as a playmaker and with Sheppard it’s ~ if he can lead guard. I think he’s much more like Steph in terms of type, if not magnitude, where the playmaking to a degree piggy-backs on the J.

  6. Reed Shepherd has such a smooth game and looks like he is gonn be puttin in work on the floor in the NBA for years.

  7. Amen Thompson, Reed Shephard and Alpert Senquin are a great group for the Rockets to grow with and build on.

  8. Really hope reed can learn from vanvleet on how to use fast hands and lateral movement to be a good undersized defender. He’s got a little bit of Steve Nash in him. Second unit with him and capela could be really fun

  9. Question, why is it necessary to compare todays modern nba players to yesterday's old-fashioned players who played the game as it ought to b3 played…defense rebound pass the ball first mindset then shoot last..let players be who they are until they develop by showing their different or special in their own way

  10. Thanks for the vid! I don't know about Point -God. comparison. But I like a John Stockton comparison. He was a menace offensively and defensively at 6'1". Cold shooter . Daggers

  11. The one thing that Reed should add to his game to make himself and the team much better is running off screens without the ball like a Rip Hamilton or a Peja Stojaković a Steph Curry a Ray Allen those type of players then it will be ball game

  12. Terrible video. Reed Sheppard summer league highlights are not official nba games. This dude is a over-hyped bench player and over paid
