MAKE IT HAPPEN Spurs!
Oh, what a night. Riley shot beat the Jazz. What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. What a night it was last night as the Spurs won in overtime. Yeah, I know summer league, but that was an exciting summer league game as the Spurs improved to 3 and 0. But of course, eyeballs are on two of the players in the game. We’ve been talking about a lot on the channel. I don’t know how one of them doesn’t have a contract yet, but here we are. Riley Minox and David Jones Garcia. Should they take up the last two roster spots on the Spurs roster? Not a two-way for David Jones Garcia and keeping Riley on a two-way, but should they get promoted to the main roster where we still have two open roster spots? I’ll answer that just in a few moments. Let’s get into the article from Air Alamo. David Jones Garcia and Ronnie Minnick, come on down. The Spurs need to sign these guys to standard contracts as soon as possible. Okay, Elmo. And if you haven’t seen this, you probably have, but you know what? We’re we’re gonna play it again. Sam Ronnie Min over on the right. My brother from another mother. Somebody say he’s my son. Whatever. Let’s just play it. Game blouses. Nice fade away. Some of you were saying kind of Kobe with his fadeaway there. Not bad company to have your name in. Let’s scroll past all this. I’ll put the article in the comments down below. Spurs should look no further for free agents. Ryan Amen only played three games in the G- League last season. It was only three. Man, it seems like more, but I didn’t realize his season was that shortened. Before he was injured and ruled out for the year, that was, I believe, a torn lab. He had shoulder shoulder surgery. Good to go now. But in those limited contests, he averaged 13 points on 50% from the field and a scorching 44% from three. David Jones Garcia got a full season of G- League experience where he averaged 24 points per game last season. I believe that was good for like fifth in the in the G-League. He shot 40% from the field as a 66 guard. I think he’s 65. Correct me if I’m wrong. He only shot 35% from three, but he’s only 23 and that can improve. And so far, oh my goodness, has it improved substantially in summer league in six games so far. David Jones Garcia has 141 points in 150 minutes and he’s shooting 64 and a half percent from three while averaging 23 and a half points for him. I said Riley Min was a scorching. This is like I don’t know what how to describe that. This is like level infinity scorching burning sun hot from three. Obviously can’t sustain that over an NBA season. I would think somebody can’t 65%. like he is NBA jam on fire right now. He doesn’t have a contract. Can you imagine if another team signs this guy? Oh boy, that would be that. Oh, that would suck. The NBA The NBA always has guys who enter games to provide instant offense. And that’s who DJ G is. Yeah, instant offense. Agreed 100%. He stands to build himself to a better version of Gary Neil, Patty Mills. Oh, there and Jonathan Simmons. Our Spurs just traded away Malachi Brandon with Blake Wesley. Once the Spur always a spur, best of luck to you for Kelly Olen. So, they stand to add one more guard. There are rumors though that the Spurs are still open for business. Some trade rumors going around that I want to talk about in just a moment. But, let’s answer the question I started off the video with. Should our Spurs bring these guys up on the main roster? Why not? David Jones Garcia, I know he’s a little Pillsbury prone. Okay, turnover. Bad turnover joke, but we could use another guard and he is killing it from three. Hitting a lot of clutch shots and we need shooting and right now he’s bringing that. Summer League are not. I might be intertwining Summer League and G a little sometimes. I’m sorry because my mind says they’re the same thing even though they’re absolutely not. My apologies I’m doing that. But he brings shooting. And Riley Minox, sure limited action, but also good three-point shooter and just showed us he can hit a big shot in the clutch. He’s not the player I thought was going to be getting the ball last night. I saw him make the shot. I was like, “All right, yes, I’m all for bringing these guys up on the main roster.” That would give us two spots open for two-way contracts. I don’t know who else we would sign, but uh Juan Nunes, where you at? I would keep Harris Hending on a two-way. I know he’s he’s struggled, but he’s doing other things that give me hope. His rebounding, his passing been on point, his shooting’s been a little off, though. He shot well last night. I think he went three of six from three. I’m not ready to move on from him yet. still a young player, maybe longer size, a little not the athleticism we would want from a a player at that position, but not ready to give up on him yet. As far as the other thing I just kind of glossed by there on the end of the era Alamro about trade rumors. I don’t know about you guys, but I am really getting to the point where I’m tired of talking about trading Kelvin Deon. This is not any shade to towards you guys that say, “Hey, we should trade Devon.” Listen, I understand the contract is not matching the production right now, but my goodness, Kellman Johnson’s been getting traded what for three years now every offseason. Kell getting traded, Kell getting traded still here. So, you know what, guys? I really hope it works out for both of them. Kellman, Devin, whoever else is in trade, HBS and trade rumors, who was our best corner threat, our best three-point shooter, a vet, former, you know, somebody that could help be a leader on the team, a community guy, a locker room guy. like, yeah, I’d like to see him on a smaller contract next, you know, the following season, but we’re trading him, too. I think we’re done with trades, and I’m only going to do a trade video if it looks like it has some serious gravitroner saying, I think these guys are going to be traded, but like legit this may happen because that does happen once in a while. You know, if there’s act, you know, not just Devon may get traded, but to who for what? Just don’t throw it out. They may get traded. Great. I may get traded. Don’t mean anything. So, if there’s some gravitas to these stores, we’ll cover it. And of course, if there’s an actual trade, we’ll cover it. But I I think we’re just mostly done making moves and we’re going to finish out the roster with the two open roster spots we have maybe with these guys and then finish out the two-ways and then we’re good. Will these guys be part of the main roster on opening day? Drop a comment down below. Would you sign one or both or bring one or both up to main roster? Or you’re like, “Nope, keep them both under two-way contract.” bore you of the of you know the thought David Jones Garcia don’t even want them all like comment subscribe all that good stuff thank you and as always go spurs go and stay.
Should the San Antonio Spurs bring Riley Minix and David Jones-Garcia up to the main roster?

100% agreed ! GSG x 3000 !
A B S O L U T E L Y !!!
Can't hurt, they have more experience than college players
Were you looking for the term 'super nova"?😊
I am expecting us to sign them. Seems like a spurs thing to do. We have 3 roster spots and don't want to spend money.
I suggest not reading Air Alamo anymore. For a Spurs fan website, their opinions are rather odd much of the time. The fact that they don't allow comments suggests to me that they are in their own bubble.
Pounding The Rock is much better, IMO.
I'm not in favor of bringing up DJG right now. He has a flashy stat line, but he's inefficient and turnover-prone (and this is in SUMMER LEAGUE), which is exactly what you don't want from a player who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. The Spurs already have three guards and one alien who are going to command most of the ballhandling responsibilities. DJG would have little opportunity to gain experience and hopefully improve. He would have a better chance to do that on a team that needs guards so that he can get minutes in real games.
And don't get me started on his defense. From what I've seen, he'd be a liability. He misses rotations, reaches/gambles instead of moving his feet (he reminds me of Harden in that respect), and seems to save his energy in order to score. He would get roasted on defense in the regular season.
Maybe a two-way contract as insurance should our core of guards get hit with the injury bug. But it would be far kinder to him if the Spurs passed so he could get playing time on another team.
I think Minix should get playing time in San Antonio, probably on his two-way, but possibly a regular roster spot, based on his shooting and hustle/effort, unless the front office finds a vet sharpshooter who isn't a defensive traffic cone willing to sign for whatever money the Spurs have available. The other factor for Minix is, can he stay healthy?
I know some people are down on Ingrahm for his apparent lack of productivity in Summer League, but that could be due more to his teammates not getting him involved in plays. Summer League can be weird in that respect. He's made some smart basketball plays in the past few games, so I think he has high BBIQ. I wouldn't give up on him.
Finally, I think it would be smart for the Spurs to keep one or two roster spots open right now, since players get waived all the time from teams that have constraints unrelated to whether the player is good or not. The Spurs do a great job picking up diamonds in the rough this way.
Minnix is an assassin. Sign him up now!
We have 6'5" players galore. Need more size for those last two spots.
id like to have both on 2 way contracts. if we rest anyone and have an open spot, id let them get some reps in the nba, see how they do and decide from there.
Yea coming back from the shoulder injury Riley has definitely earned it. He’s been consistent, he’s fighting on defense, we all knew he could shoot well but he’s doing the other things well. DJG has been hooping, a little turnover friendly but he’s hooping with new teammates so it happens. Whenever we need a bucket he’s the guy
Timely video!! DJG – absolutely! Holy moly, he is a consistent bucket. His PPG and shooting percentages are unreal (I've heard he is only 6'4", but who cares?). He does seem to call his own number a lot, but he also delivers, so why not? Riley – my gut says yes, but has he played enough to prove himself over, say, Harrison Ingram who has also been working hard and finally had a good game yesterday? Since the Spurs need all the clutch 3-pt shooting they can get, I lean toward Riley. I agree – no more trades. Let's go with what we have. I think we have met all of our talent and skill-related needs, and now it's time to lock in with this roster and build experience as a team.
I don't like DJG. He's from Dominican Republic. He speaks Spanish. His last name is Garcia. I'm going to call him Garcia, which is respectful for now, and the San Antonio fans, who are largely Latino/Hispanic will love to see him on this team. Put it this way, there is no one with the exception of Flagg who is playing better than Garcia. He's just an incredible player. In fact, all comments are from other teams that say if the Spurs don't sign him, they will.
I love Jones-Garcia's game!!! He is a true floor general and a bucket getter. A 3 and $9 million or even a 4 and $12 million should be in the works!!! I'm on the fence with Riley Minix. I know the shot made him a fan favorite but his defense is lacking. I'm giving the edge to Harrison Ingram for the last roster spot. Harrison guards, rebounds and passes better than Riley but I give him the edge in shooting. GO, SPURS, GO!!!
DJG- get that guy a contract ASAP! Great shot by Minix to finish the game last night!
Sign em, they could turn out to be decent, but yeah, they would be cheap.
Id sign Riley Minix to a roster spot. Sign David Garcia to a 2 way. Then sign Dominic Barlow to round out the roster.
DJG should get a roster position. For those of you who say "no" because we have too many guards, I believe that issue will disappear over the next 8 months. DJG is not only a bucket but he is showing he is a real 3 pt threat unlike all our other guards. And he's averaging around 7 RBs/game while our other guards are in the 3-4 RBs/game. DJG's TO's are somewhat of an issue. He had 4 TOs against Utah but Harper had 5. There's a lot of hacking going on in the Summer League because of the nature of the situation and rules. The players are competing/auditioning for future, lucrative jobs and showing some desperation by fouling. And the refs are letting them play. I believe there's a good possibility that there will be some kind of trade this winter including 1-2 guards(I won't name) from our roster in conjunction with 1 or 2 other roster players(the usual suspects) for a quality, if not elite, PF/3&D. Maybe multiple teams involved. DJG would be a great backup PG/SG/scorer and 6th man on a cheap contract going forward as we stare at the upcoming large contracts in the future. Unfortunately, I believe the lottery draft picking for the Spurs is over for the next few years, now that Atlanta looks like a playoff team for a while. No tanking anymore, the rebuild and development era is about over and plugging in needed players, with the help of our future 2nd round draft capital, will be the focus of the future. I can only see the potential of a future high lottery pick falling in our lap coming from our trading of a high profile roster player(you fill in the blank).
Most years I think Spurs fans get overhyped over Summer League performances, but this year could be an exception. Sign these two o the cheap, and put them on the end of the bench, learn and grow..
If the purpose of the Summer League is to see who’s ready to make the leap, then DJG has answered the call. Riley still has a few question marks, but he definitely showed clutch potential last night. Sure, why not. They could do worse.
I hope Riley Minix makes the squad and has more game winners in NBA games that are REAL…like he did in the SL game last night vs the Jazz.
Two open spots? Two names: Hyena Peterson
What a shame Minix got hurt last season. Hope that is not a sign (Bassey) of things to come.
Yes, sign to contracts (not 2-way). If they end up playing heavy minutes due to injury, then just tank and be in the 2026 deep lottery.
I think they deserve a spot on the main roster but if we can sign them both to two-way contract, I think that would help us keep some flexibility if someone were to get hurt. (Like we did last year with Byombo). But I definitely don't want another NBA team to sign Minix or DJG to their main rosters.
