in and out of the G-League, maybe overseas. They play summer league. They’re trying to establish their place in the NBA. Sometimes it’s it’s not a straight line. And it is it’s probably the most difficult league to make uh you know, for any of these guys who’ve ever played sports in their life. Orlando 0 and2. Scallicier out of Kentucky. Orlando dropped that game 84 to 81. Thunder are 2 and0 with wins over Brooklyn and Indiana. AJ Mitchell with a runner. AJ Mitchell, he was in and out of the lineup. Had some injuries last year. They did not play at a particularly high pace and they led the league in fewest points allowed per game. Part of it was their defensive ability. Moore places a three. That’s Windell Moore Jr. seven straight by the Magic to take a four-point lead. Orlando has had a good summer. They they focused on shooting. Oh, Carlson. Very nice. His second assist of the game out of the double team. Good finding Carlson, however, with the denial. Well, I’m like Autumn. You know, I do my homework every night. Bank shot by Gortman and he triples the Magic into a 14-13 lead. Topic trying to turn the corner. Corner three comes up short. Offensive rebound put back Cameron Brown. So Brandon Carlson returning to action and on Q delivers the jumper play. This is the Jamal Mosley way we want to play. Well, I really think you know it starts off with personnel. You know, we have guys that want to defend. You understanding we just took it at one game at a time and didn’t try to get too far ahead of ourselves. It was just how do we win the game tonight and are we are we following the right process to get to the professional. I think more than just on the floor, you know, his locker room strength, his voice. Um, and then, you know, people forget a lot a lot of times too, not just in playing with Desmond. Acknowledge and have an impact on the game today through someone such as yourself just shows you the geniuses that we’ve had in our league. And those two were always together, right? Together, the way in which they did it and having a message and then continuing that as we built this as we built this up because we’re all on the same page of the type of guy late in the first half and then the Thunder scored the final nine of the first half and there’s a follow up by Carlson to Desmond Bane Tus Jones and if they can remain healthy and Isaiah for so many years when they were not in the playoffs a big reason why so many injuries throughout the years Barnheiser lays it up and lays it in for the Thunder. Yeah, and they they’ve had some of their best players miss long extended periods of time. And that’s why, you know, you you have to give a coach and the coaching staff a lot of credit for keeping their guys motivated. Thunder up double digits. Yes, a three and the foul for Brandon Carlson or you’re uncoachable because those guys get weeded out long time in the process. They they’re gone long time ago. So when a coach tells me that I hear coach, you can’t inspire this player. You can’t get this player to do what you want to do. So you give him a bad label and you put a a label on him that’s not accurate. Champion Austin Reeves Dort might might be a champion. Lou Dort is a champion. So, I mean, again, it it’s not always the players, but if a coach Mitchell love his game, good shooter, not afraid to put it on the deck and attack the rack. Speaking of attacking the rack, but nothing there for Ethan Thompson. There’s Mitchell downhill again, hanging and hitting. and the foul. I wanted to know how do you win too? And at that time the Pittsburgh Steelers had won backto back and Chuck Null was the coach and I went to spend some time with Chuck know that they can beat me and right now we have a league that still thinks that they can beat. Oh, nice move to Yes. going to the rack today. How’s your off season been? Good. It’s been great. uh relaxing, uh working on my body, enjoying time with friends and family, and really just recharging. You mentioned working on your body. I know you suffered a knee injury. Coming back, how’s that process been like just recovering and making sure that you’re good to go? No, it’s been great. Uh allows me opportunity to really work on everything, you know, upper body, lower body, especially, you know, the knee. Um so I’m really coming in the year uh confident, strong, and uh yeah, that’s what all the work is for. Coming into this next year, we’re excited to see that next level that you’re going to tap into, but what does that look like for you? Um, I think continue to be more efficient in every in every way as a teammate, um, as a scorer, as a defender. Um, and really just in life. Um, I think as you be continue to do that, the game slows down and, uh, becomes much easier. So, looking forward to that and, uh, Justin with a new team. Yes, absolutely. With the magic, fully healthy, and full strength, what do you believe this team can do? I mean, the sky’s is the limit. I think obviously everybody’s mindset is going on winning a championship. Um, you know, you hate to see guys go down, uh, but there’s opportunity in the East and I think everyone recognizes it. So, everybody’s prepping for it. We’re all on the same page and uh yeah, very excited to start the year. Brings it a different energy. Absolutely. You got some guys out here who are trying to make their way for the Orlando Magic. Who has caught your attention the most and impressed you? I know you’ve been to a few of their summer league games so far. Uh I think Jason Noah have done a great job. Uh they’re chilling today. We get a hand one. Um but I think they’ve done a great job, you know, just in handling everything, adjusting to a different pace of game. um with everything going on out here this weekend, you know, a lot of eyes, a lot of cameras. Um you know, new adjustment uh to the team and I think they’re being great teammates. You know, they’re supporting, they’re loud, uh clapping for everybody. So, I think that’s part that matters. Have you been able to talk to any of the guys, catch up with them, give them advice? Yeah, absolutely. You know, just give them my love, give them my two cents, but I think they’re doing a great job, and as they continue to experience, uh they’ll learn because they’re high character guys and very smart. So, you know what it’s like to play here in summer league. I mean, with your debut, you had 22 points. What do you remember your time from just showing case showcasing what you could do out here? Uh just being so excited to put the jersey on. Uh to have an NBA team, you know, across my chest that says my name on the back, you know, I have my family front row watching. Uh really just a dope moment for everybody involved. Um it really just showed how far, you know, the journey of basketball has taken me. So it was a fun day. It was competitive night and glad we came out with the win. That was what I was most happy with. Well, we’re excited to see you come into this next season and we hope you enjoy the rest of your offseason. Thank you. I appreciate it. Thank you for the time. Van Carol is such a gifted Carlson with the follow of his own miss. They may have a off night or two, but when you’re talking Tyus Jones and Desmond Bane, those two are not going to have off shooting nights. Mitchell for the Thunder. Carlson bodies up, hooks and hits. H how can Carlson not be drafted? Who? What? What? What? What the hell? Who was who was watching? I mean, what Sam Prey was. I know. Wendell Moore Jr. And right now down by 12 versus the Thunder. What’s going to be key in stringing some offense together to close out this final frame? Um, I think it’s just our defense. I think if we get stops, we got in transition, uh, we can get open corner threes like we have early in this half. Um, and yeah, I think that’ll help us get back in this game. Speaking of defense, I know you have 12 points, seven rebounds right now, but your coach was telling me that he has been challenged you of guarding the best player. Why is that important to you to showcase that you are a two-way player? I mean, just cuz he knows I can do it. I mean, that’s what’s going to get me on the floor in this league is defense early. And if I if I can knock down some open shots, it help of course. But I think for me, it all starts with defense. So, I mean, him challenging me is just making me better. Thank you. The rebound is seventh of the game. Carlson in the season finale. See some pressure there. But Carlson season finale against New Orleans. 26 and 10 with three blocks. That’s why this one free throw there. 6 and 1/2 remaining and a 12point Thunder advantage. Nice rainbow jumper. But to your point, yeah, it was it was a legal strip. Topic with the runner. What’s most important to this franchise is just getting him acclimated since it’s been such a long time without basketball. Ethan Thompson hits that last three. Leon responds with a three.
