Atlanta Hawks’ Asa Newell After Summer League Win Over Heat
um first sort of NBA option for you. Just what was the debut like to kind of shake off maybe a little bit of the nerves and play with the NBA pace? Yeah, I mean it was great and I had fantastic teammates out there, great coaching staff, helped me throughout the way, but you know, this has been some of those sport um to, you know, like you said, kick the rust off. Uh you know, it’s my first competitive game since March Madness and you know, I had a lot of fun out there. when you see that first three go down. I think it was an assist from your church. Just how does that kind of feel and just seeing the ball go in the net for the first time? Yeah, it’s a it’s a you know a lot of relief. You know, you’re taking your first shot, you hit it. Um but yeah, I mean it was just I was in the flow of the game, flow of the moment, and I just hit the shot. And then when you’re looking back at this moment, this game, I know it’s still really fresh, but what do you take from it as like sort of the positive and then what do you want to work on and take to the next? Yeah, the positive. I felt like I rebounded really well. Um something that you know they’ve been on me about um you know at UG and here and also just you know getting my guards open off the screens. Um we we went on a 289 run and that’s you know something super special and you know cons you know I just got to read the game better uh just be stronger um you know finishing my layout. What was different about taste of the game or how how do you guys play versus college? What’s different about it? Yeah, I mean our offense at UG compared to this is way different. So, you know, I’m just learning a new offense. The pace is uh it’s quicker. You know, you have stronger, more intelligent players. You know, they’ve been in the NBA and um it’s just, you know, guys who, you know, been in the league and you’re just trying to fight. And what are you learning from Kobe and like adapting to his type of playing, playing style? Yeah, I mean we’re still trying to figure each other out and you know that’s the beauty of the game and the beauty of summer league and you know we’re just trying to uh just learn about you know what we can do to help each other get open uh you know the different flow and the different mannerisms that we both had.
Asa Newell finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the win.

Jameelah my goat 🐐
They need to stop media training everyone in the NBA, it’s so boring hearing the same thing over and over. Players personalities have been completely removed they are just robots now. Just tick all the boxes; praise coaches and teammates, talk about how you stuck to the game plan, say you’ll be better next game, etc it’s kind of sad you don’t really get to know any of these players personally.
Always appreciated
