Pacers coach Rick Carile said his team’s number one priority this off season was resigning Miles Turner. Indiana fumbled the bag, losing the 29-year-old uh to the division rival Milwaukee Bucks of all teams and having no obvious means of replacing him. Making an aggressive deal for Walker Kesler would ensure uh the Pacers have a premier paint protector, not only for the next season, but also for once beyond when a healthy Tyresese Hallebertton will be back running the show. So, yeah, earlier this off season, it sort of surprised me a little bit that Miles Turner actually left the Pacers. Um, he was talked about in trade rumors for quite some time now, especially coming off an NBA championship appearance, a game seven appearance for that matter in the NBA finals. I thought Turner heading back to Indiana was going to happen, but obviously with Damen Lillard, you know, getting bought out surprisingly. That opened up a little bit of cap room for the Bucks to kind of swoop in there and kind of be a little bit desperate and give Miles Turner a pretty big time contract. So, what this sort of left the Pacers is a gaping hole at the starting center position. So, if they want to go out there and maybe acquire some players u via the trade market, two players come to mind that could sort of fit the bill. I think in Brooklyn, you have Nick Claxton. He could be a nice option for the Pacers as well. But also, as mentioned in this article, Walker Kesler, like there’s been a lot of speculation this off season about Walker Kesler’s future in Utah. Utah is still going through a bit of a rebuild. Walker Kesler has been a really solid player since arriving in Utah a couple years ago. And I think if they’re able to cap uh you know capitalize on his value being relatively high, they could probably make a trade with the Pacers. If the Pacers want to get back to the NBA finals sooner rather than later, especially with Tyrese missing the uh the season next year to stay competitive in a pretty wide open Eastern Conference, I think making a trade of this magnitude makes a lot of sense. He’s a good young talent. He’s a double double machine, a presence below the basket. And I think in regards to replacing Miles Turner, yeah, they’re different type of players, but in regards to Impact, they can be very similar.
