Ryan Dunn talks Summer League Game 1 and what he’s seen so far | Phoenix Suns Media Availability

We were just asking first uh just wanted to ask you obviously right out the right out the box you saw a lane and went to it for the drive. Maybe just take me through that and how much you feel like you’ve grown in that area. I mean that was the first play set up from from this morning. So my mind I’m like all right let’s just try to go score um be aggressive get downhill and you know I just got a lane and um I read was if the big wasn’t there or someone wasn’t there go finish it and I had co so just being aggressive and trying to play smart and making reads like that. something I’ve been working on this whole offseason with those. So, it’s been great now doing that and just now putting in game in game time. So, the play was set up for you. Yeah. How did that feel? Felt good. Felt good. Felt good for us getting to play for me design. So, just trying to be aggressive and go make a play out of it. How much have you and Oso challenged each other to kind of take another step here. This it’s been it’s been this whole offseason, not even just here. um you know in the weight room on the court conditioning you know we were in China um and we were doing like sprint on the treadmill and like it was supposed to be like a light jog and we got to like 20 m an hour which is just everyone going 20 seconds hard you know moving it up. So it was cool competing with him and then you know just him on the court and him being in here just being a leader you know talking to each other. He was ultra aggressive on the court today offensively and and defensively and just him you know you know pushing you just to be a better be a better player helps me a lot here. How would you describe the the difference in your mentality on the court taking the floor last night as opposed to this time last year? Yeah, I think the first time I was I was a little bit nervous. Um I was just trying, you know, impress people and show what I can do now. It’s just I don’t really care what nobody really says. is just go out and swoop. Um, you know, I think the game slowed down a little bit which I which I like. So, still a lot of stuff to learn about. Um, and girl, I had some turnovers and some Milwaukee dribbles back which I didn’t have. Um, but you know, just continue to grow and get ready for next camp. How much has the second year not only helped you personally on the court, but also as a leader knowing what these rookies are going through and mentally and physically, you know, getting their first game? Yeah, it’s it’s it’s great, you know, being able to be there for them and to, you know, answer questions and get the advice on the run. Um, coming in last year, we didn’t know what was going to happen. We didn’t know what this was about. So, having a year on the belt, not even just summerly with the A2 games we played in the whole season, able to get them tips, not even just for now, but for down the road, like, you know, recovery, sleep, um, you know, just just on the court mentally, physically, just getting take care of your bodies and getting ready for next game. you know, the guys you just brought in, the rookies and even guys like Dylan Brooks or players that will try to affect the game no matter what, even if your shots not falling a lot like yourself. What’s that like to to see guys that have a similar skill set like you and attitude like yourself? That’s someone that, you know, I can look up to now. Um, you know, a guy that, you know, I can see myself as, you know, doesn’t care about miss or make shots, just cares about doing his job, doesn’t take nothing from nobody. Um, there’s a dog on the floor and, you know, if you’re on his team, he he loves you, but he wants to go ahead and play that definitely on his team. You know, I think we’re trying to bring out here in Phoenix with the piece. So, glad we got that guy trying to get out of here. Appreciate you.
