The Portland Trail Blazers OUTSMARTED The Entire NBA With Yang Hansen
Yang Hansen. He continues to impress at summer league. I am buying all of the Yang Hansen stock right now. This dude has been the best story of summer league. He just turned in another impressive performance. 15 points, four rebounds, a couple of blocks, three three-pointers. Yes, this dude is showing that he can shoot the three. Yang Hansen is looking like he may just be the steel of the draft. Of course, the Blazers, they took a massive gamble when they took Yang Hansen with the number 16 overall pick at the 2025 NBA draft. Nobody had him going as high as he did. And so far, I mean, we have seen that this might just be a genius move on the part of the Blazers. They might have just gotten a stud. Yang Hansen, he had a nice performance in this one. In his summer league debut, he had 10 points, five assists, four rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. And then in his second summer league game, he had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one block while shooting four of eight from the field. And then another nice performance here, like what stands out to me is three of six from three. If he can shoot it like this, it’s game over because we know how gifted he is already at his size as a passer. He’s just an all-around player. So, in this one, I wanted to talk about Yang Hansen because I’ve been meaning to do a video on him. Do me a sol, guys. Drop a like on the video. Subscribe to the channel if you are new. We’re so close to 40K. If you guys can help me hit that, it would be greatly appreciated. It costs nothing to subscribe and it helps the channel a ton. Please help me hit that goal of 40k subscribers. It would be greatly appreciated. So, you look at some highlights again, showing off his range. I mean, if he could shoot it like this, all of a sudden the Blazers, they can play him in lineups with clinging and that’s going to be fun in itself. And then I love how he had the little John Cena, you can’t see me si after hitting the three. That was awesome. And then you look at him here. Big block again. Got great size. And then you’re going to look at Yang Hansen. Look at that. He just finishes the lob right there. You’re going to see him right here again hitting the wide openen three. He’s got good form. Like I think that three-point shot can be a consistent weapon in his repertoire. And then you look at him right here showing off that footwork, that great low post work. Yang Hansen. This dude has been a revelation so far. And you look at just some of the things that he continues to show you, like what a move down low, the passing has been unbelievable. Like the precision of his passes. He’s just got a knack for making like great passes. Just tremendous playmaking instincts. That is always amazing to see for a guy his size. Like you see why he’s being called Chinese. I am sold on Yang Hansen. like this has just been fun to watch and I think it’s going to be a great experience in Portland seeing what this guy can do. I mean, I I think it could be a steal. Like, you look at him like his well-rounded stat lines. He already has an elite ability to just process the game and anticipate plays. He’s got that 7 foot1 frame that allows him to see over defenses. He’s an exceptional passer. Again, the comparisons have already begun to the likes of Yokic and Shenun. I mean, it’s not as far-fetched now seeing him in action and actually watching him play. At least from a passing standpoint, he has been unbelievable with how he is able to playmake and just some of the passes we have seen from him already have been unbelievable. And you just look at him, the combination of his size, he’s got high basketball IQ. Those are just some things you can teach at the next level and he possesses and he’s got a super high ceiling and this looks like it’s going to end up being just an unbelievable pick for the Blazers when we look back at it because the Blazers obviously took a chance right at number 16 and it could end up being a huge gap for them. And you know, Hansen is also proving that like he can be a nice pairing with Klingan. And this is a Blazers team that they’re going to need Cllingon and Hansen to really, you know, carry the load when it comes to their bigs. Of course, Robert Williams the third. His injury history is something you can’t rely on. But I love this gamble by the Blazers. And we we’ve seen it now in summer league that it might just end up being a home run pick. his court vision, the potential of him becoming an offensive hub, like it is just going to instantly help this Blazers lackluster offense. We know the Blazers are going to be menacing with their defense. They got a lot of guys who can defend at a high level and it’s going to be hell trying to score on that team. But offensively, I think Yang Hansen has a great opportunity to step in this situation and be that offensive hub. And he’s going to be the perfect piece to plug into the Blazers athletic and just defensive-minded core. Like this is what this Blazers team needs, a player like this. And the more he progresses, the more he develops, the more he opens up that offensive repertoire, like we see it, he’s already checking all of the boxes and he looks like he’s going to be a player that is going to stick around for a while and be an impact player. He’s filling up the box score. He’s doing a little bit of everything at his size. the way he’s able to just read the floor, make the right decision, make the right pass. That three-point shot is coming along. The sky’s is the limit truly. And I’m excited to watch him play. I think a lot of people are excited to watch him play even after this game. He greeted a lot of fans. He’s got fans everywhere worldwide. And he’s been a great story to follow along. And I really am pulling for this guy at the next level. And I think if you’re a Blazers fan, you got to be super excited because you have something here that can turn into something huge. And you know, we get the huge comparisons, Chinese, all that fun stuff. But when you watch him play, you see glimpses of that. You see glimpses of what this guy can become. So, I know it’s summer league. I’m trying hard not to react. But I’m getting Yic vibes from Yang Hansen. And right now it looks like this is just an unbelievable pick by the Portland Trailblazers. He looks to be an absolute hidden gem. He’s only 20 years old. Plenty of room to grow and he’s showing glimpses that he can be a very special player in this league. of course got to have patience with him. He’s going to have to develop, you know, the turnovers that has been an issue for him at summer league turning it over a ton. But those are things you can fix. But when you look at just his overall skill set, you can tell it has a chance to be something great. If he can put it all together, he’s a chance to be a really good player in this league. So, let me know your thoughts, guys. Drop a like on the video. Subscribe to the channel if you’re new. That’s it for me. Luke signing off. Thanks for watching. I will catch you all again in the next one. [Music]
I love watching Yang Hansen play.

Like all young Chinese men, he will inevitably succomb to pressure and stress, break down mentally, and wallow away in cheap KTV bars, singing depressing Chinese love songs while drowning his sorrows with 3% light beer and baijiu, smoking dollar packs of Shuangxi.
plus he will not act up for sure no guns no drugs no aweful tattoos just a good kid. good role model.
Haha we have another fan and true believer. Everyone who has seen him have only good things to say about him and want to believe after. He has great fundamentals and great potential and ceiling.
Agreed with the 3s and shooting. I had doubts about how good his 3 and shooting will be after going 1/3 or 1/4, but then he turned it around by the end with 3/6 for 3 pointers. Even did great dexterity alley oop dunk and many other nice moves. Even just his personality and doing the cena “celly” and pointing at his teammates and directing plays and traffic and smiling and having fun, it all makes one want to become a true believer and makes your worries disappear as you start to see more and more and end up liking what you see and I hope this will continue on over the next year or so.
He just needs to work on his stamina and strength and polish up his shooting and defensive playing and rebounding(although i think his lower numbers here is due to what the team made him play.. as a playmaker who stood mostly in the outside doing screens, directing traffic and making passes and even shooting 3s like some power forward center. This will allow the rest of his team to be able to have more opportunities to attack and score easier, especially if the opposing team can’t handle him staying outside or even allows him to take uncontested 3s at will while waiting under the net for the rebound.. He wasn’t standing under the net in the post the whole time or even half the time. So it’s normal based on his role in the team.
hiyanghansen
I'm loving all the Yangmania! If you watched the game, he did get burned quite often on defense, so that will be an area he might struggle with. His shot, vision, passing, and post moves seem above avg warranting the Joker comparisons.
I also noticed that he drops the ball to his hips after catching a pass before starting his shot motion from deep. If he can clean up that hitch and go straight up from his chest, that would give him a quicker release.
无法否认他很有球场天赋,NBA身高的人不少,但是可以看到球场动态的天赋的球员真不多。希望他可以继续表现下去。👍
White chocolate+Jokic+Yao⛩️🐉
Great footwork.
Yang Hansen is the future 🇨🇳 #1
He has more 3s than Ben Simmons in his entire career! ahah
He's got good Hansen court vision.
Hansen Yang not Yang Hansen
I have seen him couple of years ago, and I was impressed, I was thinking a taller Sengun… I wanted the Raptors to get another pick, to get him, just like Sengun back in 2001,
Yang Hasen can see court vision above everyone with his height like playing PS5 NBA2K25 and this is literally him playing on easy mode too, wait till he reached difficulty Ultra Instinct ascended
NBA scouts seem to act like Bird and Joker aren’t real. Basketball doesn’t require great athletes. It’s nice if you have 48” vert, a lightening first step or sick handles. None of those things will ever beat a well timed pass, no turnovers, smart shot selection or being exactly where you need to be and – maximum effort.
Not too late for all those NBA content creators who was calling this maybe the worst draft pick in NBA history to take their posts down.
Can't wait for the season to start
He's going to be HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER once his rookie contract expires. ALL STAR CENTER.
haha I feel like the millions of Chinese basketball fans will have his jersey in the top 10. Lol and he'll get the most fan votes for the all-star games
Can we call him American style? Hanson Yang. Not one Chinese American I know uses their last name first, including my best friend.
Hansen Yang. His last name is Yang.
Blazers are now China’s team. What a windfall in marketing to over a Billion people itching for a new China star.
Can’t rebound, offense and defense need lots of work to adapt to nba,
Yang hansen: good s**t. Everyone: yaaaah!!!!! 😂
I think if you look at more than highlights (from a channel like FreeDawkins), you can see a lot of flaws. He seems to get ripped pretty often on his spin move. His touch on layups while driving is pretty rough. What has been underrated from most channels is his screen setting. He knows the angles and sets a tough screen to get around. He’s got potential for sure!
Didn’t understand everyone’s panick when he was picked ! If you understand hoops and watched just 2 minutes of his tape, you’d know he’s worth a first overall pick EVEN IF he turns out to be a Bust! A 7 footer whining on his feet with ELITE passing IQ? Again, even if he turns out to be a complete BUST, the draft is about Prospects…. And as a PROSPECT, you rarely come across a build like that with that kinda hoops skills! Derick Queen also looks to be a Boris Diaw + Zach Randolph type big which is AMAZING 😂 another player who folks for some reason panicked about! But yall swearing cooper is “generational” 😂 I swear folks don’t understand ACTUAL basketball! Folks understand hype !
Dude, listen to your opening words, you sound like a total nerd. Very geeky sounding every time you say Yang Hansen" with that nasal sound too. Don't make us laugh at you.
Last night I really was impressed how he turned around his game after a bad start, and in clutch time he put it into a whole other gear to seal the win. This guy is a fulking winner. Holy shalt. I'm lovin' it. The Yangtagonizer!
So had to look up Jokic early on stats just to temper expectations and definitely could see Hansen getting close to his rookie year numbers. I think Billups should try him n Clingan on the floor at the same time but not sure it’s very feasible till they both get their shot stronger away from the rim. Excited to see Hansen grow and figure give him two years before saying what he could be for sure. But definitely easily worth the 16th pick especially when we snagged 2 2nds and a future first round pick while also getting him on the roster.
This dude came across my feed right after draft . I knew right away this guy will be a star .
I don’t see the gamble. Picking 16th is not exactly the sweet spot. 16th is not where greatness typically resided. Team picks a guy, coaches him up, fingers crossed- they get a rotation piece.
When you examine the trade down, throw in a couple seconds, and an unprotected 1st, this is simply good asset management.
Had the Blazers originally traded out of the top 5, the expression ‘huge gamble’ might have been more appropriate. But they did not.
Blazers saw their guy, and picked him. The only other certainty is that 15 teams selected someone else instead.
Time will tell on the rest on the story. Yang looks the part of an NBA player, and perhaps a good one. Summer League is a very In exact science.
Raps could have gotten him😂 and at amount of Asian bball fans in Toronto would double raps Market cap.
He looks great which means with the blazer curse hell be injured forever or something ridiculous will happen. Remember nurks leg? Horrible dude
