NBA LIVE! Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies | July 16, 2025 | NBA Pre Season | NBA 2K25

We’re just getting started. Everybody’s ultimate goal is to win a championship. We’ve just got to make sure we’re laying brick by brick each day to get better and at the end we’ll build an empire. Brian, no shortage of ambition, Alan. Thanks for that. And we talk about good offense beating good defense. Brett, both teams tonight live by that mantra. Yeah, well, this is going to be a time where we’re going to get into the fourth quarter with a game hopefully that’s pretty close. And who can get multiple stops, one or two in a row, two or three in a row. That might end up being the difference here. BA, let’s take a look at our starters for the Golden State Warriors and for Memphis. And it’s going to be the Grizzlies off the tip. Pass to Caldwell Pope. Here’s Wells outside. Mor down to five on the shot clock. That shot off. Oh, nice D from Curry. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. And you can tell how much these fans here in Memphis love their Grizzlies. Yeah. I mean, BA, ever since they moved here in 2001, these fans have been so loyal. And the players are also enjoy playing here. Memphis is a fun loving city with great barbecue and a lot of character. First one falls for him. And that’s good as he hits both shots. 2022. What a year for Golden State. Another NBA title. Unbelievable. From the worst record in the league, climbing back on top, getting their big three healthy. Man, as long as you have a healthy Steph Curry, I think you’re going to have a chance to get there. What a run they were on. Here’s Wills. The shot won’t fall and it’s the Warriors taking it the other way to the middle. The rebound by Jackson. Nobody getting a hand in his face in that painted area. That’s a miss he’s going to be disappointed with. And that’s a foul called on Stephen Curry. That’s his first foul of the game. We played just over a minute here in the first. Here’s Morant. Oh, and makes it with the kiss in the paint. Mor stays nimble and that allows him to make any needed adjustment to his shot. And that was the mobile one drive. Little resistance to the finish line. And I love the way he played downhill on that drive. Love the attack mentality in a close game. Pass to Curry and looks like an illegal pick was set. That gets the ref’s attention. You can get away with one once in a while, but it looked like he wasn’t completely set on that pick. Yeah, a quick little lean like that is going to get the ref’s attention. Foul call. Now here’s Moran. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Pass to Jackson. Puts it up and the rebound goes to the Warriors. That’s a shot he’d like back. He’s usually going to make those. And about two minutes into the first quarter here outside, Green. Shot clock at five from deep. The shot misses. Now Memphis takes it the other way. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Over Curry. Caldwell Pope. Shot is off. And here are the Warriors now with a 9-footer. And the Warriors miss again for Memphis. They’ve gone one to five to start things off. That’s the Huff back to Caldwell Pope. Oh, it’s blocked by Green. Wow. Pretty defense from Draymond showing how tough it is and great timing on the rejection. defended by Jackson. Misses off the right iron. Mor with it. And first quarter, we’re about 3 and 1/2 minutes in. Stick back shot. Green with the defensive effort. He’s got so many ways to score in the post. Just nifty. Uses fakes. You have to have a body on him every time he’s down there. Now here’s Curry still getting warmed up offensively. No buckets yet in the game from him. Oh, they need this. No luck on that one. Excellent V there from Jackson. Here’s Caldwell Pope. He’s covered by Curry. Pass to Jackson. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. The son of an NBA player, Jiren Jackson Jr. I actually played a bit with his dad, Jiren Senior, at Orlando back in the early 2000s, which means I’m old. 2. No good on that one. And the Jackson’s just the latest father-son NBA duo. Lots of great ones there, Grant. So true, BA. The Curry family might be the best ever. The Berries, including our own colleague Brent. The Thompsons with Clay in the lead currently. Just some incredible NBA families to admire. And the Warriors making a switch here. Moody’s checked in. And that one drops. So now they lead by one. The Warriors have gone 0 for five to begin this game. And the Warriors call time here. failing to find a rhythm offensively, something that needs to change and change soon. Yeah, they’re like a 4-day old soda right now. Just flat. They’re missing shots left and right and just not playing their best. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. on the wing. Curry trying to get back on track. It’s deflected. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Well, no scoring yet from him, but that’s likely to change. Here’s Wells on the wing. Calwell Pope. Just four to shoot. Launches it. Gets the three to fall. Defensively, you have to stay connected to him on the perimeter. The Warriors trailing as to Moody. And here is Green. High arcing shot and the layup is good. Wow, what a setup there. Green plays with great speed and plays with great pace and that’s a nice field play. Here’s Wells. And here’s Mor Jackson outside. Here’s Wells. And a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. It’s going to go on Draymond Green. The defense there doing whatever they can to protect the rim. two and he drops a first. Yeah. And we hear this a lot about the Grizzlies, but it bears repeating. There’s probably no team in the NBA that has more reason for optimism than Memphis. And so he makes both from the line. You know, I think about all the optimism surrounding the Grizzlies. The rest of the NBA has been put on notice. Yeah, NBA. And they should be. This team should be a contender for years to come. If the front office makes the right moves, which they have in the last few years, they could be hanging up some banners very soon. Here’s Wells. Lays it up and banks it in. Say what you will about the value of the three-pointer, but those close-in looks are always plan A. every trip down. Get to the paint, get deep, score. Now here’s Curry. They trail by six. Here’s Moody. Boy, he’s been patient so far. Nothing yet on the scoreboard. Such a critical part of how their offense is going to flow. Things are only working when he seems to be on the floor. Here’s Morray. Oh, it’s blocked by Green. Pass to Curry. The three. Not going to go that time. Now Memphis takes it the other way. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Pass to Jackson. Fires for three. Ooh, the Grizzlies with another miss. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside. Now Curry from deep three-point range. Cleared away by Wells. Memphis has gone one of two from three-point land so far. It’s stolen by Curry to the wing right side. Pounded by Mor. Here’s Green and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. And watching Draymond Green play, Grant, he’s the quarterback on both ends. I love that, BA. Defensively, constantly calling out instructions on how to switch, keeping everyone organized. And offensively, Green is an incredible passer. Sees guys get open before they do. Shoot. The first free throw is good. I mean, so much glue in this guy as Draymond focuses on making all the winning plays that he possibly can. So, both teams making some changes here. And both free throws good for Green. Memphis leading. Pass to Kchar. Back to Jerome. Inside here’s Jackson. Well timed pass and he goes straight to the bucket for the layup. Just owning the painted area. If it’s working, no need to change. Here’s Moody. Green for three. Jerome grabs the miss. Pass to Kchar. Jackson against Green. Here’s Jerome driving to the basket. Back to Jackson. There’s the three. The Warriors pull it in. Oh, it’s stolen away. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. And he makes a first. And the Warriors making a change here. Aiden’s checked in. No good on the second free throw. Here’s Jay. Well, he hasn’t scored yet, but I’m sure that’ll change. Oh, comes the ali and an emphatic jam on the lob. Gliding the pass to where it needed to be. Wow, a strong finish to seal the deal. Down low. Jackson gets the bucket and the Grizzlies lead by five. Well, that just scrambled the defense all kinds of ways with that great initial pass. Pass to Kaminga. Here’s Moody outside. Kaminga. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Moody misses. He didn’t make them pay for that weak defense, but they just can’t rely on him to miss those kind of shots. Back to Kchar. Pass to Jackson. Here’s Kar. He’s watched by Kaminga on the strike. Doesn’t go that time. And Golden State will go the other way with it. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score. Outside Payton. Second shot opportunity and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. He makes one and two that time. Memphis has gone one for three from beyond the arc. Here’s Kchar guarded by Peyton. 121 left in the first quarter. Two shots. That one misses. And he sinks the second. The Warriors trailing. Pass to Jay. over to the left wing. Kaminga down low. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that battle. And he knocks down the first one. Both shots good from the strike. Memphis leading pass to Kchar. Here’s Jerome guarded by Peyton to the inside. Kchar. That basket is good. Off the assist from Jackson. Getting enough shots in close to play inside out. There’s 42 seconds left in the opening quarter. Back to Peyton. Pass to Moody. Six on the shot clock. Fires from deep. The rebound by Jackson. Memphis has gone one for three from beyond the arc. Here’s Jerome. Oh, the teardrop falls in. And now it’s a seven-point Grizzly lead. Always fun to look at. Not tremendously efficient, but the floater, boy, those sure are pretty. Pass to Kaminga. Outside Payton, and here is Kaminga. Moody from outside. And so the first quarter is in the books. It’s the Grizzlies leading by seven. And we’ll get things started in the second quarter when we return. And for those of you just tuning in, second quarter action is where we are. What stands out to you from the Grizzlies in this one? A just excellent first quarter defense. They’ve been really getting after it. Just a a great job really of making the game ugly, trying to muck it up a little bit out there. And Brent, we hear talk about teams finding their identity. For those that don’t know, can you break down what that really means? Well, one of the key things, BA, is you come out of a training camp in any given year, you’re trying to find the right rotation of players and combinations of players that’s going to establish what it is that you’re capable of doing. And 30 games into the season, that identity can start to show itself. Great coaches in the league will adapt to the things that they’re seeing from their rosters to give them the best chance to win. So on the floor for Golden State to kick off the second quarter. Shoot two. He’s off of the first. So much has been given by Jimmy Butler over the years. Hard to believe it took him a little while to make his mark early in his career. Good on the second one. And Butler didn’t get selected until the last pick of the 2011 draft. Bren, a lot of teams regret passing on him. Yeah, you can say that again, DA. Once he did get the chance to play, it did not take long to see just how special Jimmy Butler could be. By his third year, he led the league in minutes, and he’s just a guy you always won on the floor. Dominguez shot is off and Memphis shooting only 39% so far in the game. Pass to Moran. baseline try and the rebound goes to the Warriors to the paint. Ooh, excellent D there from Jackson. Yeah, can’t see why he missed that one there. The D’s close, but looked like plenty of room. And out of bounds, the Warriors will take it. Just a superb read on defense to come up with a block. Let’s see if that block can amp up this team. I mean, they’re looking for anything to get themselves going. Here’s Curry. Well, quiet so far offensively, searching for his first points of the game. Jackson against Kaminga. And there’s the whistle. Illegal screen is the call. You’re not going to fool the officials too often on an illegal screen. Yeah, everybody saw that one. That was pretty blatant there. Moran against Curry. Pass to Wells. And we’re a little over a minute and a half into the second quarter. And there’s a 3second violation. And so it’s Golden State with it. They haven’t allowed any points in the second quarter. Outside Curry takes the three and it’s good. First made shot in four attempts. So active from behind the ark and he’s going to be there all night long. Curry needs just a bit of separation. He’ll let it fire. There’s Caldwell Pope. Pass to Wells. Oh, poked away. Just five on the clock. 17-footer. That one a little long. The Warriors have gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. Out to the right wing. All right, for those just joining us, we’re almost two and a half minutes into the second and he’s on the money with his first shot today. The Grizzlies have got none of their first three shots to fall so far in the second. That’s to Huff. Here’s Wells. Here’s Caldwell Clo. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. Well, that was clearly a foul. Two shots left on the first. No good on the free throw. and the second free throw is good. The Warriors have gone two of four here in the second quarter. And it’s all tied up. Five points in the game. Just a great show of Butler’s upper body strength right there as he plays through the contact. And that replay showed how sensational that drive truly was. Yeah. Taking the onus on himself to make something happen. Got it into the teeth of the defense and made them pay. Now here’s Moran. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Ooh, the Grizzlies with another miss. The Warriors have gone three of five since the beginning of the second. Curry against Moran. And the foul is called. He missed it. So he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. It’s going to be on Jonathan Kaminga. Come on. This kid is electric. Morant draws a lot of fouls with the way he plays. Two shots left on the first. The free throw drops for Mor. A unique talent, Jaw Moran has taken the NBA by storm. Grant, does Jaw remind you of anyone? Well, many people, including Paul George, have compared Jaw to a young D Rose. Yet, each explosive athletes at the one position. Both Jaw and Rose leading their teams at a young age as well. That one misses. Bring it. The Warriors trailing. Sinks that one from the post. Can’t talk enough about the subtleties in that setup right there. The assist really the key to that entire sequence. A chance here to catch up with Ally from the sideline. Well guys, Jimmy Butler’s focus is all on team success. In fact, his agent said whenever he calls Jimmy to congratulate him on personal accolades, like all NBA team, for example, Jimmy hangs up in his face before he can finish the sentence. Brian for Butler, there’s only one prize that really matters. Yeah, he’s a rare breed. Ally, for sure. Thanks for that. And one thing I’ve learned through the years is no matter the situation, there are always adjustments you can make. Yeah. Not just there to pump up or to discipline players. You got to make sure that the coach makes the proper adjustments and has his team in the right mindset to carry it out. Heat. Heat. It’s tipped. They get it again. Filming shot is off. Memphis trailing here. Here’s Wells to the inside. Here’s Huff who pops the J after a KY pass. The Warriors have gotten four of eight shots to drop in the second. Here’s Kuminga. Perfect pass to set up the layin. Kaminga’s got six. Such confidence as a passer. He hits guys in stride. It makes it look easy. Pass to Huff. Here’s Wells outside. Curry. Now here’s Kaminga. Pounded by Mor Caldwell Pope pulls it in. The Grizzlies have gone one for six in the second quarter. Not great to the right side. And here’s Mor outside. The shot off that time. And Golden State will come the other way. Outside Curry for three and the Warriors with another three. That’s a go-to shot for Stephen Curry. Ready to shoot as soon as that ball touched his fingertips. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Back to Mor free throw line jumper. Domingo pulls it in. Kaminga’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Pass to Curry. The three is up. The shot no good. An even game going on here in Memphis. Here’s Caldwell Pope. And he was camped in the lane there. He gets a 3second call. The Grizzlies making a switch here. Jackson has checked in and Golden State also making a switch. Aiden’s checked in and the Warriors with possession here. Their defense is only allowed four points in the quarter. Here’s Curry and the Warriors miss again and the defense gets bailed out by the miss. He usually converts that. Here’s Mor connecting there, but only two for 10 from the field. And just an agile move by Mor down low, working around the contact and getting it to go to the wing on the left. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. The officials were right on top of that one. Heat. Heat. The first one falls and the Warriors make it a switch here. That one falls. So he hits both of them. Memphis shooting just 35% from the floor. Now a timeout called by Memphis. Yeah, his shot is just not there tonight, guys. And instead of trying to shoot himself out of the slump, maybe he needs to start moving the ball around and creating for his teammates. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Here’s Jerome. Pass to Jackson to the middle. tries again. It’s good. And he threw contact on the shot. So, he will go to the line. A three-point play opportunity. Golden State has gone two of three from beyond the arc so far in the Back to Peyton has to the three. Hits it now. Two of six from the field. He’s going to punish you if you leave him open. He’s more than willing to take the open three when he’s got it. Here’s Kchar guarded by Peyton inside and the rebound goes to the Warriors left side. Green outside Payton. Five to shoot. Shot is up. Great start so far. Three of three in this one. Easy look when the defender isn’t fighting over the screen. The coach over there just asking for one simple thing and that’s some effort got burned on that one. Here’s Kchar down low. Here’s Jerome. Good setup. Led him to the rack perfectly for the layup. Jerome’s got his second bucket. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. Pass to Moody, hanging for three. And the Warriors with another three. Well, he doesn’t shoot it all that well, but when he does knock it down, it’s demoralizing for a defense. Here’s Jerome. The top of the key jumper is on the mark. He’s got six. Good decision making. Sculpts the situation. Puts the pass right on the mark. Pass to Moody. Payeyton with it. And that one’s good. The value of good ball movement isn’t lost on this squad. Memphis trailing here. Here’s Kchar guarded by Payton. Here’s Huff. Knocked away. Here’s Moody. Five points in the game. And he gets it to go as they call the foul. He’s on his way to the line for one more. That is all timing right there. Just led him perfectly. All right, guys. What do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for the Warriors? Well, you got to be impressed with how selfless they’ve been so far. Their passing has been simply outstanding. Well, one thing standing out right now is just how fearless everybody is in getting to the inside. They’re taking advantage of any lane or angle they get to get after him. And that one misses. And Memphis shooting only 36% during the second. Knocked loose. Pass to Huff. Here’s Jerome. Clock at six. He’s covered by Curry. There’s the shot clock violation. So they’ll turn it over. The Warriors leading. Minute 32 left in the half. Three-pointer. It’s not going to go for him. And Memphis taking it the other way now. Pass to Jerome. Back to Kchar. from deep. Oh my. Came close to a four-point play. He’ll head to the line for three free throws. Good defensive intensity, but you have to stay in control always. That one’s off. He hits the second from the line. and he nails the third. Golden State has gone four of six from outside. Looking sharp here in the second. Back to Curry. Here’s Moody. He’s got five outside Payton. Back to Green. Shot clock at six. And they’re going to count that bucket and they’ll send him to the line. It could be a three-point play. Yeah, I think in his mind he knew the contact was coming, focused, stayed in control, and got it. There’s 53 seconds left in the second. That’s the huff. to the left wing. Here’s Jerome over Moody and again Memphis. No good outside. Curry. Here’s Moody. The three is up and it’s good. Assisting on the play was Curry. Moody’s got six in the quarter. And that’s a superb pass coming from Curry that time. Just scan the floor and found the guy for a clean look. Pass to Jackson over Green. Jackson can’t get it to go. Come on. And so it’s the Golden State Warriors in a good situation up by 13 points to close the quarter. We hear teams talk about wanting to get the ball inside, but this is how you do it. All right, stick around. We’ll be right back after this. And now, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey, welcome back to the NBA on 2K Sports. This is Ernie Johnson, Kenny the Judge. Golden State had some issues in the first quarter. Abysmal shooting from the field, miss after miss and unable to get into any kind of rhythm. They simply could not put together an efficient offensive run. They had a huge turnaround in the second quarter, storming back with an incredible offensive surge and now enjoy a 13-point lead. Big fella, what’s your take on Golden State so far? We thought they might pull away by halftime, but that’s not usually how the NBA Thanks for joining us, folks. We’re now just a few minutes away from the start of the third quarter. And as we dive into the second half, we’ll find out if the next two quarters are any different from the first two. So far, it’s been a runaway. Well, the Warriors shooting around 41%. pass to Green. Pulls it from the corner. That one doesn’t drop. And it’s Memphis the other way. And for the Warriors, what determination from Mor in the paint getting a shot off despite being fouled. shooting two. First free throw is good. and Mor drops them both. Now here’s Curry. Pass to Moody. Back to Curry. Five on the clock over Mor. And that one hits the back iron. The Grizzlies shooting only 36% so far in this game. Well, Brent, how many players love the grind of the game like Stephen Curry? Well, when you get to a point, BA, where you’re practicing and you only count the makes, if it’s a switch and you count it as a miss and you hit the rim, attention to detail like that gives you all 10 grits like step three. Good. Does so much out there to stretch out the defense when he’s out on the perimeter and he drains the triple. Pass to Moody and it’s Jimmy Butler with the foul. That’s his first foul. I love great defense. Just quick to establish his feet and he takes the hit. Memphis trailing here outside Mor. Green against Jackson. Back to Mor. pass to Caldwell Pope. No good with a jumper from the wing. The Warriors shooting just under 40% from the field. And we’re just about 2 minutes into the final half of play now. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. and he drops the first. Stephen Curry, he’s checked in for Moody. It’s both from the stripe. The Grizzlies shooting just 37% on the game. Pass to Caldwell Pope. Back to Mor. Here’s Huff outside. Mor to the inside and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. No debate there. He got hammered. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first free throw is good. That one misses. So he goes one for two. Well, the great ones make their mark in the playoffs and Jimmy Butler has certainly done that. some herculean performances when the chips were down and just totally relentless only increasing the intensity level. Yeah, he’s the guy that you want to go to right now trying to put this one away. Oh, there’s Mor with the slam. An active score. Mor’s role on this team is to be aggressive on offense. They look to capitalize often. But granted, last year’s playoffs, Jimmy Butler became the first player since Jordan to author multiple 40point four steel games in the Cena series. And in 2020, the third player ever to record a 40point triple double in the finals. I mean, just legendary stuff. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Pass to Mor and he bangs it home with one hand. And Morant is a natural leader. Someone who wants to get his guys involved when they’re open in the third quarter with just over 3 and 1/2 minutes off the clock. Here’s Caldwell Pope. He has six. Wow. Pass to Moran. Here’s Wells. Jackson with it. Green covering. Just five to shoot. Here’s up and he drops in the layup off the glass. He’s got seven. Adding to his game over time. When Jackson spots his open teammates like this, the offense runs much smoother. shoots a fadeaway. Yep, that one goes. He was wide open, but just to make sure he put a little fade on that jumper. And let’s send it over to Ally Leforce. Well, guys, the NBA markets itself behind star players. But Commissioner Adam Silver understands what makes the game tick. He said, quote, “This is a team sport. In order to truly win championships and compete at the highest level, all the players have to come together. So true, Ellen. Thank you. Mor lets the three fly and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Pass to Curry. This one for three and the rebound goes to the Grizzlies. Jackson’s got rebound number five here tonight. Left side Moran. Back to Caldwell Pope from outside the ark and no good. The Warriors go the other way with it. Caldwell Pope pulls it in. Memphis is gone. Only one of three from deep here in the third. Here’s Wells. He’s got five. outside for Moran and that puts them just one foul from the bonus. Jackson, he’s checked in for Memphis. And Golden State also making a switch. Kaminga, he’s checked in for Green. And that shot was going nowhere thanks to that aggressive swap. You know, you can’t ask for any better defense than that. He responded so fast to the shooter and it stifled him. Here’s Wells. Six to shoot. And it’s Timmy Butler with the foul. That’s foul number two for him. Aiden’s checked in for the Warriors. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Six points for him. Catch the three ball to go. Caldwell Pope’s got five points in the quarter. That’s pretty much not how they defend the three-point line. Somebody’s got to shadow him out there. Out to the right wing outside. Payton. Four on the clock. Fires it from 18. The rebound by Jackson. Jackson’s got his sixth rebound on the night. And he loss it up. It’s tipped. Now here’s Curry. He’s guarded closely. The rebound by Jackson. Memphis has got two of four threes to fall here in this third quarter. left side. Mor shoots over Kaminga again. The Grizzlies good for two more. So good at taking what the D gives him. Mor keeping the game simple. Back to Curry inside and he jams it after taking the nice feed on the run. But Jimmy Butler just too athletic on that play. Look at the height pass to Caldwell Pope. Kicks it out to Jackson. There’s the triple and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Domingo’s got his fifth rebound in this one. tries a 10-footer. The Grizzlies pull it in. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Nine points in the game outside. Morant back to Caldwell Pope. Count the basket and the foul. That’s on Gary Payton second. Dynamic. I mean, every night Morant makes incredible plays and that extends as well to his passing. And let’s take a moment here to get your take, guys, on the scoring so far for the Warriors. Their offensive game plan has been simple. Look to shoot it often from outside the ark, and the results have been outstanding. You also have to admire the way they’ve gotten out and run in transition and they’ve run wide. They’ve run their lanes. They’ve been doing it with a great pace and that’s produced some easy scores. The Warriors leading outside. Curry to the paint. Pass to Jay. Five to shoot. three-pointer. The Grizzlies making a switch here. Back to Jerome. Jackson outside. Pass to Kchar. Here’s Jerome. Fires the three. Nails it from three. Jerome’s got seven points in the game. Nice bounce pass. That’s just good fundamental basketball outside. Payton. Curry with it. He’s got nine from deep. That shot missing. It’s never easy from that distance, but we see him drill those and shoot around all the time. Oh, no. I know he can make it, but that’s warm-ups. So, maybe just a step too far. That’s the huff. Six on the shot clock. He’s watched by Kaminga. Offensive rebound. Oh, he muscles it in through the contact. They call the foul and he’s on his way to the line. Give them credit. They fought hard to get back into it and now they’re rewarded with the lead. And a chance to catch up on some numbers here. The scoring breakdown for the Grizzlies. Well, you love their unselfish play, keeping that ball moving. Good shot to great. That’s winning basketball. Find the line. It’s one thing in a game to do a great job of drawing fouls, but going to the free throw line and delivering, that’s another. The Warriors trailing now. A timeout called by Golden State. They just committed too many fouls. While you don’t want to give up easy looks, you also don’t want to give away points. It’s been a non-stop parade to the free throw line. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Back to Curry. Pass to Moody. Left side. Kaminga outside. Curry. Can they get it? Grizzlies with the rebound. Jackson’s got rebound number seven tonight. Here’s Jerome. And the foul is called. He missed it. So, he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. Shooting two. The first one falls and the Warriors making a change here. Green has checked in. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. You can tell he’s feeling confident right now at the line. And when he’s on, he can be lights up. on the wing. Curry. He’s got nine. Peyton finds Green. Back to Peyton. And here’s Curry. Just five on the clock. Tries to snap the cold streak. Kchar pulls it in. Memphis has gotten three of six threes to fall in the third quarter. Here’s Jackson. And the dunk by Jackson. and he’s battling for everything, doing all he can to help extend their lead and just throwing down the putback with authority. Team’s having a tough time containing him, attacking all the way there. Here’s Moody. Give him eight points now. Shot blocked. They retain possession. Another shot. Can’t get it to drop. Now Memphis takes it the other way. 55 seconds left in the third quarter. Here’s Huff Sher from three-point range. And now a nine-point Memphis lead. That’s just a lapse right there. No matter what, somebody has to be there and get a hand up in the shooter’s face. Here’s Moody. Green up top. A sweet little floater. Green’s got 10 points in the game. Wow. How about Traymond on the floater there? That was another look at our Mobile One drive of the game just a moment ago. They’re trying to come back in this game. No, bottom line, it’s about energy and effort exemplified by a possession like that. He’s covered by Curry. Here’s Kchar. And the officials will call the illegal screen here. You can get away with one once in a while, but it looked like he wasn’t completely set on that pick. Yeah, a quick little lean like that is going to get the ref’s attention. Foul call. Pass to Moody from downtown. Sinks it from distance. And now it’s just a four-point Grizzly lead. And that’ll do it for the third quarter. Grizzlies out in front up four. And coming up as soon as we return from break, the fourth quarter gets underway. 64. Well, this has been a great contest so far. I imagine the fourth quarter could have more action in store for us. Tai Jerome is out there with John Moran. Then it’s Jackson. Then there’s Contavius Caldwell Pope. That’s the lineup out there for the Grizzlies. Here’s Mor. He drives in and then Mor with the jam. The quick feet of Mor. He’s so dangerous when he’s cutting to the rim. And what a drive that was. Replay courtesy of Mobile One. Yeah. And with a finish like that, you know he’s looking to extend the lead and put this game out of reach. Defended by Jackson. Stolen by Jackson to the middle. Drops in the layup for two. Caldwell Pokes got 10 points in just the second half. And since the break, they have looked like a completely different team, especially on offense where they’re really cooking right now. Pass to Green to the inside. Stolen by Jackson. Here’s Wells. Here’s Jerome guarded by Peyton. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Oh, they get a hand on it. The Warriors trailing wide open and it goes straight through with a swish. That’s why you keep your head up. If the assist is there, you can pounce. Pass to Jerome. Here’s Caldwell Pope and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. That’s on Jimmy Butler. Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Shooting two and he knocks down the first one. Stephen Curry, he’s checked in for Payton. He’s perfect from the line this time. And the Warriors shooting just 38% for this game so far. Curry against Moran. Curry passes to Green. and count the basket. He was fouled and he’s going to the line for one more. And the free throw no good. Memphis has gone five of 12 from three-point range tonight. And out of bounds, the Warriors will take it. And we’re about 2 minutes into the fourth now. And here’s Curry. No good. A bit long that time. The Grizzlies have gone two of three to open the fourth quarter. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got rebound number seven tonight. Looking to get it going and almost gets it to go. So he’ll shoot two here. The pump fake can still be used. This just in. Butler with a great up fake to keep the defense off balance. And he makes the first. Butler gives you so much toughness and determination. This guy can really impact what the culture of your team is all about. So he gets a move. Fourth quarter play. We’re about 2 and 1/2 minutes through it now. Pass Wells. Here’s Caldwell. Pope Jackson the three. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got eight rebounds in the game. Pounded by Mor. Step back and fire. Oh, it’s blocked by Jackson. Here’s Wells. They need his talent on the floor now. They’re going to have to get it done without him. Yeah. Too bad he fouled out. But this team does have some depth at his position. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Guarded by Payton. Back to Mor. Five on the clock. Here’s Wells. And another miss by Memphis mixing it up inside. Just coming up empty-handed. Green. The pass to Curry. Pump it in on the layup. That is a tough two right there from Butler. really his calling card. Rugged play was 100% effort. Jackson left side out left to the wing outside. Mor shoots over Curry. Mor no good. The Warriors have gone three of five since this fourth quarter started. Green finds Curry. Now Green has to Curry to take the lead. The Grizzlies pull it in. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Here’s Wells. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So he’ll take two free throws. And even from where we’re sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw no good. And he’s good on the second. So, it’s the Warriors now. They’ve allowed just seven points here in the fourth. No one near him. Caldwell Pope pulls it in. Memphis leading. Here’s Wells. That’s the Huff, the leaner. No good. His first miss. He’s five for six now. The Warriors shooting about 43% since the fourth quarter began. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Probably not the shot that was drawn up for that possession, but you can’t pass it up and you can’t knock it down. Here’s Wills. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. That’s on Jimmy Butler. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw. No good. had no luck that time either. And for him, that is an ugly trip to the line. Rarely do you see him do that. Count it. And that was the right decision. When you’re in need of a bucket, you go to your most trusted guys. Yeah. Whether it’s teammates or the coaching staff, hopefully a combination of both, but gets close. He’s getting the ball. Here’s Caldwell Pope down low. Jackson gets the bucket and the Grizzlies lead by three with a tough road ahead. They worked hard to get a good shot and no lack of aggression on that move. Good for the 2K drive. Yeah, BA. I mean, that’s such a big play here in a close game like this one. Great concentration from now. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. Trying anything now to get them out of this slope. Well, they can’t find the net right now. And all they need, I think, is just to get one to go, get back on track. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Time now to hear from our reporter Ally Leforce. During that break, coach Steve Kerr had some advice for the team. He’s not happy with the amount of freeze they’ve given up. He said, quote, “It’s at least we were sending back some answers, but we’re not. So, expect a concerted effort to change that one, guys.” Thank you for that, Ally. Green. The pass to Peyton. It’s intercepted. Now, Mor pass to Wells. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Here’s Huff. That three is off the mark. And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that’s a shot he typically makes. And that’s out of bounds. Golden State will retain possession. Just a millisecond late. So close to coming up with a steal there. Real close. And I’m sure next time he might time that a little bit better and get a hand on it. the shot. No good. Now Memphis takes it the other way. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Pass to Caldwell Pope. Now here’s Jackson. to the left side wing. Clock at six. Here’s up. And they force the shot clock violation. Great deed. Well, after committing a turnover like that, you’re just praying the game doesn’t come down to the last possession. You’ll remember that one. The Warriors have gone four for 10 in the fourth. Curry passes to Peyton. Green finds Peyton. Back to Green to the paint. Curry shot his own. Memphis has gone 0 for two from outside here in the fourth quarter. Curry against Mor play laid it in with a nice touch off the window and the Grizzlies lead by five. The Warriors shooting just 37% in the game. Boy, they’d love if anyone could get a bucket. Yeah, their offense has been grinding to a halt. Back to Peyton. pass to Curry to stop the drought and buries it from three. Curry’s got five points in the quarter. Well, the D has to pressure Curry at all times. You can’t let him shake free for a jumper. Outside Mor softly drops in the floater. Morance’s got 12 points in just the second half. Always fun to look at. Not tremendously efficient, but the floater, boy, those sure are pretty. outside. Peyton left side. Green. Oh, and Jackson with the block. The attention to detail on defense. Jackson reads shooters well and knows when to go for blocks. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. And it’s the Warriors with the ball trailing by four. They got a piece of it. Now here’s Morray. Pass to Wills. Now Jackson. He’s covered by Curry. Shot clock at five. Here’s Mor. That is Stephan Curry with the rebound. That’s tipped. Here’s Wells. He’s covered by Curry. Pass to Moran. Here’s Caldwell Pope from behind the ark. The Warriors pull it in. Green’s got 11 rebounds in the game. Outside Curry. Right side. Green inside. And there’s Curry on the assist by Green. Curry’s got 10 points in just the second half. What work from Steph Curry gets open and makes it look easy. Wow. Back to Mor to the paint. Here’s Huff. No good on that one. He’s five for eight. Pass to Curry. to tie it up. Rebound by Jackson. Jackson’s got 11 rebounds in the game. And out of bounds, the Warriors will take it. Unfortunately, just poor execution there. You cannot give the ball away at this point in the game. And the Warriors making a switch here. Heels checked in. We’ve got 128 left in the game. Here’s Curry. That was good. This game is all even. All is well with Curry right now finishing through contact. You feel like he knows that’s what is coming and he plays that scenario out as he gets to the layup. There’s Durant missing. Golden State has gone one of two from deep in this quarter to the inside. Curry. Oh, it falls. Wow, that takes steady nerves right there. Not backing down from this moment here when the game is close. He kicks it up a notch. Time called here. The Grizzlies decide to talk it over. They’re losing by two. There’s 53 seconds left in the fourth quarter here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Let’s take a moment to present the New Balance player of the game, Stephen Curry. And he really made his presence felt on the inside. Just so active and looking all game long for openings. And he found him by scoring a lot of baskets by slashing to the hoop. There’s 53 seconds left in the fourth. Mor now here’s Mor tightly guarded up to go. Expect them to take their time this trip down the NBA. The clock is theirs to burn. Here’s Curry. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and they’ll take two free throws. The greatest shooters ever. Yes, I said it. Steph Curry, a great option at the line here. Good on the first and that makes it a three-point lead. Well, this should be easy to predict here as Curry’s accuracy is exceptional even under pressure. Second one is good. Getting both at the line and it’s a four-point ball game. Perfect from the line. It’s now a two-possession game. All right, now a timeout called by Memphis. They trail by four. 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Here’s Jackson. He connects and he’s brought it in. Two points now. Finishing through contact. Jackson showing why a 611 guy with real shooting ability is so dangerous. And so they foul intentionally. Getting a little desperate at this stage. to me. The clock’s the big factory. Well, that hurts as he doesn’t get the first one to fall. Trying to focus now for the second. Well, we talk so much about Curry being the best shooter after he makes a three, but there’s a lot more to it. I mean, this guy’s also the most accurate free throw shooter of all time. So, it’s pure no matter where it comes from. And he ends up making a second. And that makes it a three-point lead. 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter here. Here’s Mor. Here’s Wells. Oh my, what a shot. Oh, a tremendous three. We’re tied now. A timeout called by Golden State. And the Warriors making a change here. Here’s Curry. Oh, line. Regulation has ended and we are headed to overtime. And we’ll be back right after this. Boy, these teams have battled tooth and nail for four quarters. Now we’re headed to overtime. This one should be fun. And the Grizzlies with possession here pass to Caldwell Pope. Here’s Wells. Down low and the dump by Jackson. Great game for him. Double double now. Two teammates connecting right there. Slick feed and for the Warriors. Curry finds Green and they call an illegal screen here. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. Got to hold firm or you’re going to get a call. And so it’s Memphis with it. Back to Mor on the wing. Caldwell Pope. Shot clock at six and the call is going to be yes on a legal screen. Mor against Curry. Just over a minute into overtime here. And it’s Job Mor with the foul. That’s his third foul so far. Pass to Curry. Clock at six. Fires it and it’s blocked. Here’s Wells. Soft touch off the glass that gives him a double double. Now he’s too good a finisher to blow that kind of chance, but that’s going to be a wakeup call to the defense. And here’s Curry. Pounded by Mor. Offensive board and it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it. And he’ll shoot one more at the line. Heat. Heat. One shot. Memphis leading pass to Caldwell Pope. Here’s Huff. Here’s Mor. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Marine’s got 12 rebounds here tonight. Big time effort. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. The last thing Jimmy Butler’s afraid of is a little contact. Two shots left on the first. Ties it up and his next one could give him the lead. And that one falls. That puts him up one point in the game now. The Grizzlies have gone two of three from the field as OT gets going. Pass to Caldwell Pope. Curry against Moran. Jackson outside. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Nails it from beyond the arc. Caldwell Pope’s got 19 points. That’s pretty much not how they defend the three-point line. Somebody’s got to shadow him out there. We’re at OT here with just over two and a half minutes gone by. Six on the shot clock. Driving inside. The Grizzlies pull it in. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. Man, the defender really went after him. Elbow two. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. Both good from the line that time. The Warriors have gone only one for four in OT so far. Curry against Murray. Curry against Murray. offensive rebound and a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. A stronger defensive presence would have saved them two points. It didn’t seem like anybody was really aware there to go and collect that rebound. And it’s critical Mor steps up in the important points in the game. This is his time to shine. He gets the first and that makes it a three-point lead. And the second free throw no good. Tough break there. The Warriors have gone a rocky two for six so far at OT. Right side. Curry 13 ft out. It goes up again. That’s so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot it there. Jaron Jackson picks one up. He hits the first one and that brings him within two here. good on both. The Grizzlies have gone three of four during this OT session. Here’s Mor Green with the defensive effort. Perfect timing to rise up and challenge the shot inside. Yeah, not easy to do there. And that’s a guy that you can tell takes every possession defensively very seriously. To the middle, goes back up. Deflected. Here’s Caldwell Pope. Another miss by Memphis. They’ve got a chance to grab the lead here late at OT. Monster possession, maybe the biggest of the night. Curry passes to Green. Pass to Moody. Takes a three. Cleared away by Wells. And this is exactly who you want taking that shot. He just missed it. Morav with it. lets a floater go. Rebounded by Green now. A timeout called by Golden State. They’re losing by one. 23 seconds left in overtime. Your thoughts, guys? It’s always interesting to see what play a coach has saved for a situation like this. Sometimes not just what a coach draws up, but who he has execute in these moments. They’ve got a chance to grab the lead here late at OT. Monster possession, maybe the biggest of the night. to take the lead. And you know it’s coming. Jimmy Butler lives to serve up in these moments. Timeout call. Memphis. They trail by one. There’s 6 seconds left in the first overtime period. Guys, what do you think? It’s always interesting to see what play a coach has saved for a situation like this. Sometimes not just what a coach draws up, but who he has execute in these moments. Here’s Mor to cash it in. And we’ve got a game that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser, Greg. Two high octane offenses going headtohead. And it’s not just running and gun. Each team has a very well-refined attack and this kind of matchup comes down to which side can maintain their energy through all four quarters. And now the Golden State Warriors starters got the ball here for the Grizzlies and Caldwell hits the basket. Shows incredible vision for a younger player. John Morance a skilled distributor and there’s the pass to Green. passes it to Curry. Sinks the three-pointer. And he’s not going to miss that sort of an opportunity from deep. Pass to Wells. Back to Mor. One up, one down. Two points with his first shot this game. What body control from Mor able to take the hit and power through it all. And that outstanding drive and finish brought to you by Mobile One. And you got to love the aggression that he had taking it to the rim there. Sets the tone in a close game like this one. And the rejection by Jackson down low and it’s Barance that time on the assist by Caldwell Pope. Look how John just glides through the contact. He’s such a nimble player. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sidelines. You got for us, DA? Thank you, Kevin. I was able to talk with the head coach of the Grizzlies for just a minute. He told me they’ll be looking to stretch the defense with their ability to knock down shots from deep. He said success on the outside will translate to success on the inside. Sounds like instead of going inside out, they’re going to go outside in. Back to you, Kevin. Thanks, David. Always want to get those threes falling consistently. And once he got to the 10, I think he was surprised to find himself that wide open. Wow, that’s a defensive breakdown. Can’t do that against good scorers. Fires for three. B in for the first basket of the game after three attempts. Great floor awareness there by Jimmy Butler sensing one of his guys is open and gets it to him. Pass to Wells. Back to Caldwell Pope outside for Jackson. Six to shoot. Knocked loose. Here’s Wells. Gets rebounded by Golden State to the left wing. And the call on the shot. It sends in to the line. Steve Jimmy Butler is definitely a defensive difference maker. He is, Kevin. Back in the 2021 season, Butler led the league in steals. He is so committed to forcing you to make mistakes with the ball. Shooting two. and he knocks down the first one. You know, with a strong presence, great toughness, Jimmy Butler has a major effect on the culture of your team. He doesn’t get the second one. And you know, for proof of what Morance’s done for the Memphis franchise, look at the offensive numbers. The Grizzlies have made huge steps forward every year. And Jackson gets it to go. I just love the way Jiren finishes inside with either hand. The defense can’t really take everything away. Takes the three. No good. He’s off to a slow start. One for four so far. Caldwell poop outside. He can’t get it to go. Warriors trail by three. Shoots. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Greg, the improvement since Mor arrived has been very steady. And the Grizzlies went from the 20th rated offense in his rookie season to number 16 in his second year and then all the way up to number five last season. J has turned him into a powerhouse. The Grizzlies shooting their first free throws. First trip to the line in this one. The numbers last year for them just about 73%. till the bottom third of the league. Two two. The first one falls. In terms of entertainment factors, can any current player top Jar? I mean, we’ve seen Jaw with some vicious in-game throw down. No free throws good from Morant. And Greg, talking about the great John Morant, this guy is just right out to watch. Well, Jaw’s been known to go off for 50 on any given night, but he also looks for others, dropping some nasty dimes. Mor has an insane combination of athleticism and skill. This guy can do anything. And the Warriors decide to take their first time out here, trying to find some answers offensively. Yeah, these guys need to work together as a team, as a unit. Try and carve out some easy buckets. Heat. Heat. kicks it to Green. Curry wide open. The long distance three is buried. Curry’s got six. As soon as Curry catches it, it’s out of his hands. Not much you can do to defend that. Here’s Morance. And contact on the shot, so he’ll be shooting free throws here. I tell you what, he earned his money on that foul. And this is his second trip to the line tonight. Yeah. 76% from the line a season ago. And most would consider that to be a success. No good on the free throw. How can you not love a player like John Mor? Came into the NBA ready to prove himself and just keeps getting better and he sinks the second. Warriors trail by three. There’s the bass to Kur. Here’s Green. Passes it to Curry. Another three for Golden State. The pure stroke of Courage. It’s beautiful to watch from outside the arc to the middle. Whistle blows. Basket is good. So, a chance here for a three-point play. I tell you what, it’s it’s almost like stealing to watch how he plays the game from this seat. And part of the Grizzlies breakout 21-22 campaign, the emergence of Jiren Jackson Jr. Triple JGA missed most of the 2021 season with a knee injury he sustained in the bubble. When he was back at 100% for the Grizz, he provided serious rim protection, plus the ability to hit a three. And for the teams that were looking to draft Jiren Jackson Jr., what they saw was a true modern-day center who could defend one through five. He’s guarded by Cornwell Pope. It’s pulled in by H. And there hasn’t been anything easy for him in this period. And you’ve seen they’ve made numerous attempts to try to get him going. shows how valuable he is to this offense. Moran kicks to call Pope just find the shoot passes and he lays a foul. It goes on Jimmy Butler. That is his first foul of the game. And right now, let’s watch that terrific swat. And this is why coaches stress the importance of defense. Big block there in this close game. Here’s Caldwell Pope. He can’t get that one. So, Golden State will take it the other way. Hurry from deep three-point lane, but Grizzlies pull it in. Jackson’s got rebounds now tonight. Wells passes to Jackson outside for Caldwell Pope. Shot clock at six. Buries it down low. All heart from Caldwell Pope there using every ounce of strength to muscle that shot in. Golden State moving the ball around. He’s guarded by Cwell Pope. It’s pulled in by Huff. Huff got rebound number five here tonight. Wells kicks to call Pope. Pass to Huff. Now Caldwell Poke. Let it go. It’s rebounded by Kaminga. Can’t fault the play call even though he couldn’t convert. That’s a good shot. And he gets the whistle for the 3sec call. Crunchar’s checked in for Memphis. Jerome comes in for Contavius Caldwell Pope. Morance against Curry. Back to Morance. Here’s Jerome. And that one is off. Morance against Curry. Shoots over Mor. The shot by Curry. No good. And so it’s Jackson who brings it up for the Memphis Grizzlies. Leading by five. Morant passes to Jerome. And the best to Kawar. Shot clock at five. Memphis needs to get off a shot here. A three from Mor. And they’ll get another chance. Misses that one. His first miss of the night. Two for three. Here’s Moody. Whistle blows. Bucket is good. He’ll have a chance at the line to make it a three-point play. Yeah, exceptional play there to take the bump and still get it to fall. The Warriors did their third free throw shot of the game. Gary Payton has checked in for the Warriors. What’s up, Memphis leading Pass to Koncho. Pass to Jackson. Here’s Jerome. Nothing in on the scoreboard for him. Outside for Jackson. Two pointers off the mark. And I thought that was going to drop. It looked good from here. Here’s Moody. They grab their own miss outside curve. Pass to Kaminga. Drills the three-pointer and the Warriors lead by one. Good work by Curry moving the ball. He has a good eye for those openings. Here’s Jerome to Jackson. Six on the shot clock to the right side. Let’s go. No good. Off the back of the rim. The Warriors shooting in this first quarter around 38%. They’re looking a bit freaky out there. Curry dishes. Golden State. needs to get off a shot. It’s three outside and another three for Golden State. When Steph Curry gets in a groove like this, it’s trouble for the defense. I’m not sure how they can stop him. So, timeout call here. The first for Memphis. Curry with a strong contribution so far in this one. Yeah, they’re going to have to find a way to run him off his spots out there. He is rolling. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. The Grizzlies trail by four. Pass is Dono. Memphis moving it around. Jackson passes to Jackson. And really the defense fouling there to prevent the layup, but that’s exactly what you need to do. All right. Well, a look at how the points have been generated so far. Scoring breakdown for the Warriors. They came out firing from deep. It’s always good for a team’s confidence when you can start a game that hot. And also, guys, they’re playing for one another right now. All those extra passes are leading to easy buckets. That’s good from Jackson. And so Jackson nails both of them. The Warriors leading Peyton outside pass to Moody. High arcing shot. They get the rebound and that’s good. A nice job in the glass as they pick up two on the second effort. Salvage the possession. He’s a terrific offensive rebounder. Char defended by Payton inside and he makes no mistake on the slam dunk. Trying to attack the heart of that defense with great teamwork over to the wing. Moody the pass to Payton. We’ve got 148 left to play here in the first. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. And these are his second and third free throws tonight. A 78% foul shooter a season ago. Pretty steady when he’s at the line. Shoot two. And the first one at the line is good. And so he makes both from the line. The Grizzlies trail by four. Pass to Jackson. It’s rebounded by Kaminga. So, it’s the Warriors now. Curry way outside. Here’s Jay and he could not get that one to go. Out of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. That’s on Jiren Jackson. Oh, the officials are all over that one. The Warriors have only one missed free throw. They’ve had five attempts and made four of them. Shoot two. First free throw is good. and good on the second. So he makes them both. 127 left in the first quarter. The pass to Kono. Here’s Jerome. He’s gotten some minutes, but nothing on the board yet. And the rejection by Curry. Tight. Dishes it to Kaminga. And here is Moody. Seven points in the game and the basket by Curry. What we do know about Steph Curry, he can score from all three levels and do it with efficiency. This is it to Kono. Jackson with it. Some nice passing there by Memphis. Jackson misses. Unusual for him. Just a lack of concentration. fails to finish the play as to Kaminga and he can’t extend the lead to double digits. The Grizzlies trail by eight. 1 second separating the shot clock in game play. It’s stolen by Curry to the paint and Kinga gets it to go on the assist by Curry. Curry’s got three assists in the game. Pass to Jackson. Drops it in from 11 ft. Jackson’s got seven. Wow, what a pass there. He made that a very easy basket with that set. And so it’s the Golden State Warriors holding on to an eight-point lead heading into the break. And the three-point shot has been big for him. We come back right after this. And if you’re just joining us, we’ve played through one quarter in this one and taking a look at the Warriors performance here. Guys, what are your thoughts? Just stretching out the floor. That first they had the defense scrambling. Reason why excellent spacing? They may not stay this hot all game, but hard to bet against them. More and more defenses switch everything now, Steve. And if you were coaching, is that how you’d play it? Is that how you would teach it? You know, Kevin, yes, sometimes you have to switch, but I think the best coaches, what they do best is they show you different looks and timely they’ll do it. Sometimes they’re trapped, sometimes they head to pick and roll, and sometimes they’ll just go under. Wells is out there with Jiren Jackson. Then it’s Contavius Caldwell Pope. Then there’s John Morant and it’s up in the five. That’s the group for Memphis to kick off the second quarter. The Warriors have put up good numbers at the charity strike, converting six of seven and at the line last season about 78% as a team. Pretty solid numbers. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first free throw is good. He hits both from the strike. And here’s Moran. He’ll bring it up for Memphis. It’s a 10-point game. Now here’s Coldwell Pope. He’s guarded close and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Yeah, much improved foul shooter. KCP also starting to get to the line at a higher rate. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. And last year, excellent at the free throw line. Just a shade under 90%. That free throw good from Coldwell Pope. and Caldwell folk drops them both. We’ve seen him put a lot of pressure on the defense and then cash in at the line. And let’s head over to the sideline and catch up with David Aldridge. Thanks, Kevin. Of course, the Warriors offense stands out for its emphasis on ball movement. Coach Steve Kerr says, “If you get to touch the ball and be a part of the action, whether it’s as an assist man, ball mover, shooter, dribbler, the more people who are involved in the offense, the more powerful it becomes.” Kevin strength and numbers indeed. As has always been the case for his offense, the more the better. Let’s work for him. Da thanks. Stolen by Caldwell Pope. And here we go. The Grizzlies on a fast break. Here’s Wells and he uses the glass on the lane. Hustle points count just like any others. That’s a great play. Curry deciding where to go with it. And blocked the ball with his ball. What an offensive play. Here’s Wells. Draymond Green pulls it in. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.
