Bucks sign CHRIS LIVINGSTON
Okay, so the Milwaukee Bucks are giving Chris Livingston another one-year deal fully guaranteed on a minimum for $2.3 million a little bit after waving him and let him letting him go was looking like the Bucks were going to move on from Chris Livingston. But now after he’s been cooking up a little something in summer league, they’re giving him a one-year deal. And I like this. Now, I’m gonna give you reasons why you probably shouldn’t get too ahead of yourself, go too crazy about Chris Livingston because of summer league, but this is a good thing. Why is it a good thing be beyond what he’s doing in summer league? Look at the forward position for the books. I mean, the books are loaded at guard, which I see some people are kind of questioning, but personally, I’m not mad at when you have like Giannis and Miles Turner in the front court or Giannis and Jericho Sims or Giannis and Bobby Portoris. I think that you could play a guy like AJ Green at the three. You could play like AJ Green and Ryan Rollins at the two three. Like Kevin Porter Jr. is like a six foot four six5 point guard. I think there’s enough size to get away with kind of having three guards, having like two shooting guards out there and having really like a shooting guard playing small forward. So again, I don’t think it’s the end of the world that the Bucks are there at the small forward position, but boy are they at the forward position. I mean, right now you have Kyle Kosma coming off of arguably the worst playoff series ever by any player in the history of the NBA. And behind him, Torian Prince, who kind of you could argue is a little bit more of a two guard anyway, which I guess he’s a small forward, but I mean, great catch and shoot player, great catch and shoot three-point shooter. Not much else though. And so just adding another forward is important for the Bucks. I guess you have Andre Jackson as well, which we can mention later on. We’ll talk about Andre Jackson. But overall, I think just getting a young player back on a deal extremely cheap at a position of need. I think it’s a good thing. And I’ve been a little bit of a skeptic of Chris Livingston just because, you know, Bucks fans always get over not overhyped. I’ll just say get hyped about young guys. and he’s just a guy that I don’t know to me he’s a little bit based off athleticism and I see a little bit of lack of deficiency in terms of the stuff that you need in the NBA but a good thing that I am seeing right now is just a clear good trajectory. Well, again I’ll just get to the stuff that makes me doubt him a little bit. It’s that, you know, even right now, the way he’s hooping in summer league is by being bigger and stronger than guys and going into year three and summer league going against a lot of rookies and scoring by just going to the rim and just musling through guys or knocking down spot threes, which is good. But those type of players that are bigger and stronger and a little older than some of the other players in the summer league, those are always the ones where I have to be a little skeptical of. I’ve learned over the years, you know, I remember thinking Jackson Hayes was just going to be, oh my goodness, he’s going to be crazy because he was just dunking on everybody in summer league. And then I realized, okay, guys that are just like a little bit bigger, more athletic than guys in summer league, that’s not always going to directly translate to the NBA where everybody’s super athletic, big, and strong. There’s more grown men than there is in summer league. So, that’s the reason to be a little bit skeptical of Chris Livingston. You know, he’s putting up numbers, you know, 18 in a win, 21 in a loss. Um yeah, 21 in a loss and 21 again in a loss. Um decent rebounding numbers, four rebounds here, not great. Nine rebounds there, very good. Um only uh three rebounds in the win. So a little bit underwhelming in terms of rebounding, but you know, still not bad, especially for a small forward. Um so I guess yeah, there’s those are the reasons to be skeptical that he’s kind of overpowering guys on a team that isn’t very good again in summer league. One and two. The one win was at the very end by Jamari Buouay. Um, so those are reasons to be skeptical. But unlike some guys we see in summer league, he is continually continuously getting better. Where first year at summer league, I don’t even remember that well. I don’t think he did anything crazy. Last year, there was a lot of chatter when I was streaming the summer league games for people saying, “Let’s give Chris Lance this year.” People were hyped. But even then, it was more so just like an even worse summer league team that like didn’t even look like they were prof playing professional basketball. the team was a mess. And you know, he was getting rebounds, but he wasn’t like consistently scoring around 20. And now to this year where it’s 21 points, 21 points, 18 points. It’s efficient. He’s definitely going in the right direction. And like I said, it’s a position of need where I would think that he’s the type of guy that he could help Giannis to play a little small ball five. You know, I don’t know if the Bucks are going to go to that very much anymore. Uh, I think I would like the idea of Giannis playing like point center and having four shooters out there, especially if you had a guy like Chris Livingston at the three and if Kyle Kosmo was good at the four. But with the way this team’s built, I don’t think they’re going to go to that. I I do think if you make a trade at the deadline and you get a better forward that could play like the four for Kyle Koosma, you could have interesting lineups out there of like Rollins, Prince Livingston, an interesting like stretch four under size four and then Yas playing like the point center and Chris Livingston could just allow you to do stuff like that and then worse comes to worse hopefully just because there’s need in minutes at the forward position you could throw him out there and he’ll grab some rebounds. he’ll be okay hitting open spot up threes and you know he might be able to cut and make some shots around the shots around the rim to where maybe there’s just a little bit of value in there for him even if he’s not a part for the Bucks he’s just another guy that on a $2 million deal might have some value and so overall I would say with this move it’s something that I’m not going to go too crazy about think expecting anything huge out of him but on a $2 million deal I think there is potential for him to fit in in certain lineups and to be effective. There’s potential for him to be better overall than Torian Prince. As great as Torian Prince is, spot up three-point shooter, I would say, and most other things. Chris Livingston’s better. I don’t think Chris Livingston is great at creating his own shot, but he could probably do it maybe a little bit better than Torian Prince just by being able to get to the rim. Um, I would say he’s a better rebounder than Torian Prince. I’d say he’s a better defender than Torian Prince. And so, um, you could throw him out there for better defense. And then he’s not much of a shooter. not a great shooter when he’s not getting like wide open spot up looks, but I would trust him with an open look over Kyle Koosma. And so there’s reasons that he could be a little bit better in some situations than Kyle Kosma as well, probably in all situations to be honest with how bad Kyle Kosma is. Um, and then lastly, I’ll say this also might give a little bit insurance for the Bucks to just cut ties with Andre Jackson at some point. Um, yeah, I haven’t dropped to drop a video about it, but I mean, I’m all the way out on Andre Jackson. You’ve got this man throwing inbound passes over the backboard. You’ve got this guy throwing the ball at people’s feet. You’ve got this guy smoking layups. It’s horrible to watch him in summer league again. I mean, y’all know this is nothing new for me. I mean, probably the most hate I’ve ever gotten on this channel was saying Andre Jackson is not very good. We should be trying to trade him before the trade deadline. Like, we’re getting away with it now, but in big moments, you can’t play with a guy that’s that much of a liability on offense. And um you know, I think time has been pretty kind to that take, but I think it’s getting to the point where I don’t even think you could get a second round pick for him. You might just have to cut him at this point. Um, yeah, and this would allow you to, you know, at least still have a younger forward that there’s some potential for. You know, he might not be the defender that people thought Andre Jackson had the potential to be, but he could still be a very good defender and be a guy that at least could hit an open three and could comfortably catch the ball around the rim and make a layup in a way Andre Jackson is just not capable of doing. So, Chris Livingston is a capable basketball player, even if he’s not somebody that is gonna get me super hyped right now by seeing him overpower um young, skinny, you know, not really grown men in summer league, he’s still showing that he’s a capable capable capable basketball player. He’s a guy that’s capable of defending and hitting an open three at a position of need and he’s young. And so, I like this move, but let me know what you all think. Drop a comment. Livingston is someone who is too good for the G League but not ready for the NBA. Don’t get why we did this. Surely we have to trade Ajax as well. As frustrating as he is, people around the NBA still regard him as a really good defender and he did do a good job on Shai. We can’t just waive him.
What are we doing bro, the Bucks are talking aBout signing 39 yr Al Horford. We're not cutting Ajax lol. Bro Ajax & Livingston are better than kuzma & Prince Now & cheaper. What team would cut Ajax the second best defender just so you can get another guy jacking up threes stop bro💙😂
Chris Livingston also has better hair than Taurean Prince….do not forget that as that is what really matters
Chris Livingston is a 21 year old man child, just develop the kid and see what we have hopefully he will continue to trending up.
If he can develop a decent mid range game and play defense he could be a good role player this year
