The Raptors have found their next STAR…
The Toronto Raptors have found their next star as this Raptor summer league team is showing off a ton of improvements and developments from the young guys in this Raptors organization. But Jacobe Walter has taken a leap that cannot be ignored. Of course, there are a bunch of guys that are impressing and shocking a lot of Toronto Raptors fans. But we are going to break down Jacobe Walter showing those signs of being a star for the Toronto Raptors. everyone that’s really taken their games to the next level for this Raptor summer league team and break down the undefeated, probably most exciting Toronto Raptors team we’ve watched over the past decade. So, lots of stuff to break down out here in this video. But folks, before we dive into any of that, I want to thank each and every one of you because, you know, there’s no NBA like big league action. We got some summer league, got some free agency news, but you guys have been crushing it with the support as of late and we’re continuing to deliver all the latest Toronto Raptors news out here on the channel. So, I don’t want you to miss a single thing. So, if you’re enjoying the daily Toronto Raptors coverage, make sure you guys hit that subscribe button cuz Raptors dig just is delivering it to you daily. But, let’s dive into it because last night we got to witness a very, very exciting, intense game for this Raptors team. But I want to focus this, especially the start of this video, on, you know, the the main man of the hour, Jacobe Walter, who has really just taken his game to the next level. We broke down in a recent video how he put on 12 pounds of muscle, how he’s looking stronger out there finishing around the rim, and just overall is looking more poised and confident out there on the basketball court, even if the stats weren’t shown in like the first game or so. Now, we are seeing no solitude for Jacobe, what it all really looks like. And tonight really just dominated this game from start to finish. 26 points for Jacobe Walter. And you might look on the offensive, you know, four rebounds, rocking out, eight to 16 shooting, fourth 11 from the three-point line. You look at all that and you’re like, okay, Jacobe Walter, we know when he was drafted, he had extremely high upside in terms of his scoring, in terms of his ability to create like he has an elite jump shot. He can knock down threes from all over the basketball court, knock down minis, knock down everything you want with that jump shot. that jumpy jumper we saw especially as he got in his rhythm the back half of last season is really really pure and start of summer league we’re seeing some finishing out there coming together you know a guy that has offensive touch that’s never really been a question but Jacobe Walter coming out there into the NBA he looked like a bonafide scorer from day one obviously the game just had to come together and of course on the offensive end of the floor things have really started to come together out there on the offensive end and that isn’t super shocking to me and we knew he had upside in those areas and that’s all well and The thing that is turning this guy into someone that has star upside, that has that potential to really blossom into his own, to blossom as that level of player for the Toronto Raptors is on the defensive end because we look at those stats again. This dude had seven steals, one block. And you see all this only four fouls as well as seven steals. The thing about it on top of it, because steals are one thing, you know, Allen Iverson got a bunch of steals. No one accused him of being the most elite defensive player in the NBA. Jacobe Walter is looking stronger. Players are kind of, you know, he’s not by any means, you know, Dwight Howard physically out there on the wings or, you know, a better example of a guard, you know, one of these uh like Elijah Martin in terms of strength and power and all that stuff on the wing. But he’s added strength along with his quickness, lateral quicks, and just ability to stay in front of people. It is really just it whether it leads to a steal, whether it leads to a turnover for the other team, it is causing havoc for these other squads. And you know, steals are one thing, but having the IQ to know, hey, there’s an opportunity here. Their their back is turned. You you see the back of their head, you can come in, poke the ball loose. You know, someone’s about to make the right the wrong pass. Jacobe Walter is reading them like a book and able to get in passing lanes, get deflections, get everything you want out there on the wing for the Toronto Raptors. And this is the new era of Toronto Raptors basketball. Dark Rayakovic is looking for players that can execute both ends of the floor. And if you can really bloss because we know I don’t have any questions, concerns about the development of Jacobe Walter in terms of him being a really A-level score out there in the NBA. Defensively is where okay he showed flashes last season. Was it perfect? No. By any stretch of the imagination, we are seeing just a quantum leap in terms of the defensive production that Walter is bringing. And now looking at the depth chart for the Toronto Raptors, right, in terms of what we’re looking at right now, again, positions, they’re pretty fluid out there on the wings for the Toronto Raptors and stuff. Yo, a couple weeks ago cooking up this graphic, this is how things were looking, how things were shaken up in terms of the Raptor step chart. Jacobe Walter can’t be that third string wing out there on the Toronto Raptors if he continues to produce, continues to play at this level of production. So definitely there are going to be some serious internal like internal battles for rotation spots for minutes. Of course, the Raptors have dealt with injury, so I’m sure a bunch of people will be getting opportunities all over the course of next year. But Jacobe Walter deserves like his flowers deserves uh praise for the development that he’s taken. And frankly, if he’s continuing this route, you know, we’re looking at the Toronto Raptors, the terms of their depth chart terms they have. I’ve been on I’ve been on the proponent. I’ve been making it known. I don’t want to trade RJ Beard. I don’t want to trade any of these guys, but it’s going to be tough. You have so many guys that are a high level at that specific position. whoever the next president of basketball operations because at this point I don’t think Bobby Webster or Dan Tolman are going to make any moves until uh like big trades blockbuster moves until you know a new president is named then there are going to be some tough big massive decisions for the Toronto Raptors to make. But you know that’s that’s for future videos. I want to give praise and love to Jacobe Walter because he has really taken that leap over the course of this summer. So great stuff there from Jacobe. It’s not just him because the shedads we uh we you know the Jacobe Walter is you know the more polished the earlier round prospect but I’m been a shed head all last season I love with this man you brings to the table and yes there are still concerns about the jump shooting yes there you know it’s not perfect he hasn’t taken the you know same level the gigantic leap in regards to his three-point shooting or in terms of his free throw shooting that we were hoping against still a very small sample size summer league but that’s the next evolution for Jamal shed to be in that star dare I say you know, really really high level player uh upside, but you know, and you see the efficiency, you know, one of five from the three-point line, three of five from the free throw straight. That is what it is. But Jamal shed still in yesterday’s game, 16 points in this one, had eight assists, two steals, two blocks, and just again on top of it, an absolute hound defensively. He makes all the right decisions when the Raptors needed some points. When the Raptors needed something to get going for the squad, Jamal Shed really was the engine. the same way Kyle Lowry was for this team for year after year after year. He just makes really strong decisions. He’s able to put people in the right places to get their games going and is the de facto leader out here on this group. And you know, I’m excited to see a full season of Emanuel Quickley, of course, but I haven’t seen that leadership intangible yet from IQ the way Jamal Shed has really brought it. So, of course, IQ is the more talented player right now, you know, more polished, especially with the jump shot and stuff, but again, looking at these these depth charts, Jamal Shed is making it known, and it’s tougher, you know, when you have a Yakro who’s not a three-point shooter yet, who is Scotty Burns. Question marks about his three-point shooting abilities. Might be tough to have Shed out there as like a starting point guard competing for that position or, you know, if things are going there, but if he gets a jump shot, man, Jamal Shet is like the perfect quintessential point guard in my eyes. So, that’s a big question. That’s a big leap. But, uh, you know, we got a lot of stuff to dive into in this, uh, video because so many guys are playing well in this one, including, you know, CMBB, you know, the rook, the ninth overall pick. Knocked down a three in this game, which is exciting. Had a tough other one. You know, when he misses, it’s kind of the outside of the rim, which is a little bit discouraging, but he was able to knock down a three. Knocked down three or four free throws in this, which is positive. You know, 10 points, three assists, three rebounds, and looking like a more polished Jonathan Mo. Now, Momo didn’t have the greatest game in this uh recent outing. two or four from the field, four points and stuff like that. But, you know, Mobo, I think, has had a better touch around the rim in two of the three games out there in summer league. So, that is what it is. But CMBB is just a little bit more polished mobile. He’s a little bit stronger. He has a has, you know, a little bit more touch and feel. It’s still similar style, similar aura in terms of the basketball court. Sometimes when CMBB is dribbling, you get but sometimes he’s just making really killer crosses, killer behind the back moves and stuff. But CNB very, very encouraged about his upside and defensively this dude is. You know, I know Carter Bryant’s getting a lot of praise across the NBA in terms of what he’s been able to provide as uh, you know, defender and he’s on the Spurs and WBY’s there and all that stuff. ZMB has just as big a moments and he looks stronger and more intense than uh than a Carter Bryan. So, really really like what CMBB is doing out there on the basketball court. And on top of it, one guy that does deserve a lot of praise, deserves a lot of hype is I’m surprised he’s coming off the bench, but uh Olam Shay, man, he is looking like probably the one of the best big men out there in summer league right now in terms of impact, in terms of what he’s able to do, especially on the defensive end. Seven points, four rebounds, one assists, one block. That’s not a great stat line. You watch this man play, he is impactful. He had a crazy Magic Johnsonesque pass. you know, it was a block and then in transition, you know, just a crazy kind of pass around his head. Again, it’s still very a very raw player, do not get me wrong, but Ola Shamsh, that dude is going to be good. And frankly, I would not be shocked if he’s going to be in the rotation for this team next season. So, that is uh some high praise out there for Shamsh. You Mamu might uh might be in a tougher position, you know, terms of guaranteed minutes at the backup center spot because Shay is is looking like he has some uh opportunities to really blossom and develop this season, but he looks good. And then on, you know, running through the rest of the team, right? James Bell knocked down his threes, which was positive. Uh, you know, Colin Castleton, not as not as polished as Shamsha in my opinion. Elijah Martin didn’t get a ton of run in this game and a few fouls and stuff. Uh, Chucky Heepard, I really like his confidence. I like how intense he plays on defense. He fouls a lot. Did not have the greatest game in this one, but I like his confidence shooting the three ball and I like how intense he plays on defense. So, that will all come together. But the last thing I do have to say is AJ Lawson deserves that final roster spot. I know he’s competing with David Rody. I know he’s competing with Colin Castleton. I know he’s, you know, there’s internal competition there, but AJ Lawson continues to be a spark plug off the bench for the Raptors. 19 points per game. You know, seven rebounds, two assists. I don’t know what more he could do in order to earn that position. So, uh, AJ Lawson deserves that final roster spot and I’ll be very, very disappointed if he does not get it. But, let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments section down below. You guys best think far. Subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already. Anyways, I’m signing out. Just

I have said many times that Ja'Kobe will be a top five player from his draft class this season. He showed a lot of progress in the second half of last season. / I am also predicting that Gradey will come into the season knocking down threes like a Himars missile.
Depth chart not making a ton of sense when most guys are wings that can play multiple positions.
Bench is looking good this year , now trade sloppy barnes 😅🎉🎉🎉
UC needs nba time this season 😤
Better than Grady and Ochai for sure
Ironic making a video about RJ's replacement lol. Jus made the case for getting rid of your favorite player 😅
AJ Lawson is best
Totally agree that Lawson has earned the last roster spot. For the second unit, I'm thinking pairing Mogbo at the 5 and CMB at the 4 could be really effective. Including Shead and Walter in that unit would make it devastating on D. Throw in some scoring and shooting with Dick or Lawson or Battle and their second unit is looking really strong. And then there's Agbaji, who was maybe their most improved player last season. I guess too much talent is a good problem to have!
Why is David Roddy here again? Isn't he hanging around in street clothes?
Shead, Gradey, and Jakobe will be better this year, and RJ may or may not break out even more, Scottie will still be the same, so overrated
Star? Not yet 6 man of the year potential yes but his defense has vastly improved
Serious question: what does Castleton even do????
Raptors seem to having "too many" of the same type of player. Need a true point guard and more centre depth. Gotta say Walter, Snead and Chomche showed very well in the latter part of last season…..all three can be NBA starters. which is great draft selections.
Ben always has the best out look on Raps. Love it Ben. However it is summer league and while Walter looks good here with rookies he still has a lot of work to do. His highlights look great but if you watch his full games there is lots of mistakes. Still good work. He should be a good bench player. Give him some time to grow.
Ben is the GOAT of youtube Raptors guys ….Subscribe to keep him growing ❤
Imagine a playoff lineup of pg Jakobe , sg ingram sf cmb pf Scottie , c jp we would lock up almost every position…
Raps second five is better than some teams starters
Ja Kobe and Grady with others your looking at 40 points a game coming from the bench. 4 out of 5 starters lineup can average 20. With our defence we are going to shock teams and get a lot of wins if healthy are centres will get isolated on pick and rolls but I think with our long wings we can adjust enough for a 5th-6th seed.
Please don’t think Quickly going to loose his job Shed unless moneys involved. His 3pt jump shots not there.
Any grand conclusions based on how a player performs against fringe NBA players in meaningless summer league game is a gross exaggeration.
AJ needs to be on the roster.
I've been paying attention to Summer League for years, it used to be nothing – could never get TV coverage. But then the popularity of SL begin to grow, and grow some more, and grew into what it is today – important. Same reason why 2nd round picks are now valuable, because the opportunity to get into NBA development/scouting programs are massive, stretches from corner to corner of North America and having camps in Europe and Africa. Every small city in America, lots of small rural towns have NBA camps to show their stuff, where as years ago this wasn't available. Up until to the 1980's, getting noticed by scouts wasn't easy unless you were a freak stand-out – by the late 1980's into the 1990's opportunity to be seen was growing, the G-league formed – so by 2000's the ability to get noticed really widened, and has exploded in the past 10-15 years … lots of players in the spotlight who once would have been missed makes the 2nd round deep, and the SL important – they are needed to fulfill the glut of talent that is allowed to flow into the NBA.
This years SL team is unlike any other SL team from the Raps I have ever witnessed!!!! I'm excited on every play, wanting badly a win! Can't wait for next game! Why is Castleton playing more the Chomche? With Shead, Martin and Chucky looking tight – it might IQ instead of RJ who is expandable. The SL announcers for two game in-a-row have done nothing but praise the Raps draft picks (except Castleton – the critique him – deservedly).
Yes they have. Which is why I’d offer Utah Dick and a 2nd for Walker Kessler
Chomche can play back up centre minutes now. But that’s probably not what’s best for his long term development. We need to remember he’s only 19 and only played basketball for a hand full of years. He needs to be playing 30+ minutes every game in the G league. -!; hopefully he can come up and play abut for us to
Jamal Shead is a HUGE + for the Raptors. I think every team in the league would take him on their roster. That's when you know you've found somehting.
Cm butterfingers is more like it
29 pts 8 reb 7 steals. 29+8+7=44. In a typical game a player with +++ = 30 or higher is excellent. +++ > 40 is elite.
@benrogers raptors are not making any blockbuster moves lol. it will be moves to get under the tax in january. its likely ochai cuz he the smallest contract and easiest to move and he looking for 12-16 million a year for 4 years in a new contract that rogers wont pay the tax for. with the slow part of the season here its likely ochai or RJ or both moved mid december january. its likely just ochai as he is also taking playing time from young guys and he really doesnt move the needle for raptors.
Lawson has the inside track but that final roster spot wont be given till after training camp. so castleton still has a chance as he still likely invited to training camp as raptors are thin on center.
they will keep the final roster spot open till end of training camp to give players something to play for.
only way lawson given the final spot is if ochai is traded or temple is waived.
Its 905 man come on
