The Truth is FINALLY Leaked…(and it’s sickening) | Sixers News
The truth has finally been revealed in Philadelphia. After years and years and years of the Philadelphia 76ers having to manage and basically mismanaging Joel Embiid and his injuries, a recent article from espn.com that dropped this morning, July 16th, has finally came out. And it took me a damn good 30 minutes to read this whole article, but it was worth it. It’s a great read from start to finish. If you haven’t read it already, I highly advise you go check it out if you are a Philadelphia 76ers fan, if you’re a Joel Embiid fan, or even if you’re just an NBA fan in general. This is a must-read NBA article and it revealed a lot of the truth that has surrounded the entire Philadelphia 76ers organization and culture with Joel Embiid at the helm as their franchise player and basically the the mismanagement and the miscommunication that has gone on basically from day one. you know, when he was drafted and ultimately was ruled out for the season due to a bone injury in his foot. Uh the first entire season basically they recap it and the the mismanagement of that injury, him basically telling the team, telling the doctors that his foot wasn’t feeling right, wasn’t responding to this injury. He basically stopped going to treatment, goes to get re-evaluated by the doctor that does the surgery, and he says it it hasn’t healed. It hasn’t healed and he’s out for another year. And that’s just the beginning of this ultimate saga with Philadelphia and the Sixers. and Joel Embiid. And going into the 2025 2026 season, everything is still built around Joel Embiid. And they have this massive cloud, this massive red flag hanging over this entire organization. They hand Joel Embiid a new contract extension last year. Obviously barely plays. I think he played in a total of 19 games last season due to his lingering knee injury and everything else in between that he’s had done with him over the years. And the Philadelphia 76ers look like they’re just going to continue to to run it back and do what do what they can and that is try and get Joel Embiid on the floor, you know, as best as possible, as healthy as possible. And this article really goes into the entire kind of story about everything that that happens on a day-to-day basis with Joel Embiid and over the years. And this this story was written over the course of months, over the course of years, and it’s a really kind of great read and it dives into everything that you need to know. But the the situation still rem remains that there’s this red flag. There’s this massive cloud that hangs over the the situation and it’s it’s a hard one to get out of because you’re looking at the situation where it’s you are at your best when Joe Embiid’s on the floor and on this roster. There’s no beating around the bush on that. There’s no sugar coating that. But that is when he’s healthy. That is when he’s on the floor. And it remains a massive question if that will ever happen. And it kind of h it kind of poses the question like how much is that injury really impacting everything else you know day-to-day with with the with the operations of this basketball team with the coaching of this basketball team with the philosophy of this basketball team. And you look at kind of this quote here from Nick Nurse at the beginning um of the article where he’s basically saying for nurse it was the aggravation of spending the season as a mix between surgeon general and press secretary. And you saw in multiple clips throughout the season this year where the the Sixers, you know, PR staff or the Sixers, excuse me, beat reporters or whatnot, asking Nick Nurse these questions at these press conferences. And you could see his body language physically and emotionally just was fed up with it. I it goes, I’m up there answering medical questions all the time. Nick Nurse told the the reporter who wrote this story, hey, and beat’s getting this on Tuesday. We’ll have more information on Wednesday. Well, something happens on Tuesday and this MRI doesn’t happen. Now it’s Wednesday. And he’s basically getting questioned, why aren’t we getting an update? And the the same story is kind of already happening like now and it’s really frustrating to even think about this as a as a continuous excuse me lingering situation that could continue to happen into this year. I mean, just the other day, Daryl Mory goes, “Yeah, he’s his rehab’s going well.” I mean, we were, you know, ideally going to have him on the floor at the start of training camp, and we’ll talk about it in a little bit, but Jo beats basically like, “You know what? I’m done with that. I’m on my own schedule. I’m not going to be pushing myself, you know, any further than than I need to go. I’m going to do what I can and what I can do to get back on the court.” And you basically, as an organization, as a medical staff, as a front office, have steered me wrong one too many times. And I’m not going to fall for it again. not going to to put my body and put the rest of my career out there for a risk. And he touches this on an article and he’s basically like he cares still what he’s remembered as a basketball player. And we know when Joe Embiid has been at his peak, at his best, he’s one of the the best players that we’ve ever seen, you know, at the center position. You you can even argue of all time, one of the most talented players, but it’s been so far and few between due to all these injuries. And he’s basically saying, you know, if I ever want to get back to the level that I was, you know, 23, 24, where he was dominating, averaging 35 points per game, I have to come back on my own terms, in my own time, and I’m not going to push myself to to the next level and push myself past this because to put it quite frankly, and he touches on this in the article, like if he’s not playing basketball games, you see what happened last year, they’re not winning games. So to be at his best, he’s going to have to be fully healthy, and he’s not going to push himself any further. But it just goes back to this quote for me like these questions are going to be continue to be asked whether it’s a Daryl my whether it’s to Nick Nurse and the aggravation and the day-to-day kind of problems are going to go on and it’s such a tough situation because you’re tied to him contractually wise moneywise um and just philosophy wise roster-wise everything is built around him but when he’s not on the floor and when he’s not able to to play it’s hard and that’s the massive kind of cloud that hangs over this organization and I don’t think he’s just going to magically go away you know with with one snap of the fingers And it’s a shame because the goal is obviously to be able to have him on the floor and be his dominant self. But if he feels like he he can’t do that, he’s basically said in this piece that he’s not going to he’s not going to do that anymore. He’s not going to overexert himself to get back on the floor. And you can look at that like, oh, he’s soft. But it goes into, you know, this whole article talking about how big of a competitor he he is, how much he wants this, how much he wants to be great. Um, and it kind of gets tied into it here as well. Another part that I wanted to to highlight in the article where it touches on the extension that they just gave Joel Embiid, the big contract that they just gave to Paul George, and the reporter basically asks like, “Do you think he’s ever going to be, you know, the same player again, be worthy of this max contract?” Um, and Daryl my basically, you can read it here, kind of cuts cuts himself off from answering it. And it said, “Mory never finished the sentence. Mulling that future sent a current uh through his body and through the entire room. His words came apart in a laughing fit. He laughed and the 76ers head of communication who had been sitting in the room laughed and I laughed and I don’t even know why. It just kind of you can look at that as like an awkward situation where the people’s only reaction could be to laugh and my stood out of his chair, walked to the door, basically left the room and goes, “I’m going to choose to think of the positive today,” he said, and walked out. You know, I think that kind of goes all to show you how Daryl my feels about the situation as well. I mean, he doesn’t seem uh too confident in in Joel Embiid returning to the floor, returning from injury and being his full self and making himself worthy of that match. But his hands were kind of tied and that’s the move he feel like he had to make to try and get this team over the top. You’re you’re not going to win a title without Joel Embiid. But the the question still does remain like will you ever win a title with him on the roster just because you don’t know every day what what the situation’s going to be. Like Nick Nick Batum touched on the article as well. It’s like he sat next to and beat at his locker every day and he looked at his knee and he’s like, “How are you even like able to walk?” Like that’s how bad it looked at times during that that Knicks series um two years ago in the playoffs where where this where the Philadelphia 76ers lost. So, you know, it’s it’s a day-to-day thing and it’s going to be a day-to-day thing for the rest of his career. We could get a good spurt of, you know, he plays seven out of eight games, but then maybe he has to miss another four or five. It’s a frustrating cloud that just continues to hang over this organization. And I think, you know, with this article coming out, it just points and it shows that this is not going to be stopping anytime soon and it’s going to carry, you know, into the ne into the next season, this next 2025 202 26 season. And the Sixers could be in for for another mess here potentially. And while that would be, you know, a shame, that’s just the reality of the situation. And the Sixers, you know, having their hands tied. And this is the part where I kind of want to end on with this is basically at the end of the article. Um when Embiid and I spoke for the final time in late June, he’s tell he tells me he’s making some changes this offseason. We’re not going to push anything. He says for my whole career I felt like we never took that approach. So basically here he’s saying I’m doing this on my terms. I’m not going to be listening to to them and you know they’re they’re the doctors. They’re the professionals in this situation. But he’s saying you know they’ve steered me wrong before. I’m going to do what I think’s best for me. you know, my family, my my teammates, my my organization with the Philadelphia 76ers long term. We don’t have a timeline. Embiid tells me hopefully sooner rather than later. And that’s after Daryl my saying he would be back in time for training camp in September. So already we’re already at this situation where there’s a miscommunication. There’s there’s a mis dialogue and Embiid’s basically saying we don’t have a timeline. I’m going to come back when I feel like I’m ready to come back. And Daryl my says, you know, he’s on track for training camp. The same thing with the Paul George injury. We’re going to reevaluate him for training camp. What the hell does that mean? that that doesn’t that doesn’t clarify anything. You’re going to look at him and then basically be like, “Oh, he needs another 4 to6 weeks to recover. Surprise.” So, it’s just once again a big mess. And we’re sitting here in July and this is the story coming out. And Embiid’s saying here, I don’t know how they feel. The only thing I’d say this is a business. Embiid tells me it’s all about the results. If I come back early enough, and I’m still not myself, guess what? You’re not winning games. And he’s right. And if he does come back and they do win some games at the beginning, but it jeopardizes his his health for the long-term longevity of the season, then they’re going to be losing games again. So, it’s a it’s a harsh reality of the situation that the Philadelphia 76ers are in. Um because it’s, you know, you win when you have him and you you lose when you don’t, but you you have so much tied to him. You have so much invested to him financially and and basketball philosophy wise when he’s on the floor. It leaves such a big gaping hole on that team on that roster. And you just have to you can’t help but look at this in a negative light and think, you know, this is just going to continue to happen day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year for as long as Joel Embiid’s here. And that’s a shame of the situation. You know, the basketball gods weren’t nice enough to gift him with with great physical health for the entirety of his NBA career. But, you know, that’s my main kind of takeaway from this article. Besides everything that Embiid’s gone through, it’s this situation isn’t going away anytime soon. Daryl my Nick Nurse are going to be peppered with questions. his teammates going to be peppered with questions. Joel Embed with questions what he’s available to the media, but it’s going to be a situation I think that that’s frustrating. You see Daryl Mo Daryl Mory and Nick Nurse getting frustrated over this. You know, just in this article as well, and we saw it multiple times in press conferences over the last season. So, I don’t think this situation’s going away anytime soon. Um, this was a bombshell of an article. Like I said, a great read, but uh a must check out for for Sixers fans. But let me know what you guys think in the comments below. FROM SOMEONE WHO RESIDES IN PHILLY THEY NEVER SHOULDVE RE-UP THAT CONTRACT … BUILD AROUND YOUNG CORE IM TIRED OF THE PROCESS END THIS CRAP
Get rid of Mr. Softy. 76ers are done until they drop or trade Embid. 76ers keep hoping.
None of this will end until this team is sold to an owner that actually cares about the team. Mismanagement, incompetence, and downright stupidity on the part of the front office. Bad contracts, bad trades, bad draft picks, and a GM that lacks transparency. It all adds up to a rudderless and poorly run organization. Until all of these issues are addressed, nothing will change.
🤔 why are you on here making excuses for a guy that refuses to take his care of his body & stay in 💪🏾shape…stop blaming the organization it's on the player to take playing in NBA serious when your being paid millions of dollars 💯% FACTS
Everybody saying trade Embiid but that won’t fix the issue. This whole organization needs to be reset from top to bottom
EMBIID & P.G need to retire now,the window of opportunity is closed,I mentioned it 2yrs ago…we're not going to win a championship at this point.
That extension seems like it was a huge mistake. You just can’t count on him. 🏀
I hate sixers fans man .. and I am one . Embiid bleeds and literally puts his body on the line for us every game . People calling him soft are so annoying . My man would play with a broken body giving up on him and he’d still go out there and give it his everything for us … love that dude . @embiid
😂😂😂😂you could clearly see he was useless
We have to build our team talent and if Embiid is hurt we need to push forward, but please no more tanking
Embiid and PG the epitome of get paid and chill.
