Rob Parker: LA Clippers Are the ‘Chosen Franchise’ of the NBA with Bradley Beal’s Arrival
Let me tell you what team doesn’t have a sticker on and is a reduced. Okay. Who that? It’s the LA Clippers. And I’m I’m here to officially tell you. Oh, whoa. They are the chosen franchise in the NBA. Who? The the LA Clippers. Rob G, I want you to join us, okay? And talk about all the players who keep coming to the Clippers. You It might be right because they have Steve Balmer like one of the richest owners, right? Beautiful building, right? Ty Lou, fantastic coach. We talk about Tai. No argument here. Ty Lou all the time. People say, “I’m always ripping on people.” You never heard me rip Ty Lou. I think he’s I think he’s a great coach. Also, Kawhi Leonard is a cool superstar who’s not like over the top. people could get along and feel like have you ever heard in all the stuff people talk about never heard anybody rip I’m talking about Kawhi Leonard other than San Antonio with the the injury and all that and that but you know what I mean people mess but Rob G name all the people that have picked the Clippers when they had a chance to go anywhere and that’s what we just saw with Bradley Beal that’s right dating back to 2019 since you me since Kawhi Leonard made the decision to sign with and remember he could have gone to the Lakers with AD there was money for him with AD and LeBron and he’s from LA he could have picked the Lakers and had it way easier he probably would have two or three championship more so just here’s a list of guys who have chosen the Clippers in free agency or made their destination hey Kawhi picked him in free agency Paul George forced the trade to the Clippers they said he could win anywhere he said trade me to the Clippers James Harden forced his way there and just in the uh buyout market now again buyout some of of them worked out, some of them didn’t. But all of these guys could have went anywhere for the price that they went to. Nicholas Patum, Reggie Jackson, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, Ben Simmons, and now Bradley Beal. And don’t forget Brook Lopez, the Lakers wanted him. What do he do? He said, “Oh, no. I’m going to the Clippers.” You disagree with the Clippers being the chosen franchise in the NBA. Now, they haven’t won, and I’m not sitting here doing that. But people do like the way it’s set up, the organization. It’s in Los Angeles. You’re the little brother. You’re the little brother and everybody knows it. And it doesn’t stop people from going. Here’s my issue. Everything you just said is a fact. Can’t deny that. And you know what else is a fact? The Clippers have been dramatically better than the Lakers for the last 10 to 15 years. They’ve been much better than the Lakers. I mean, at one point in time, they were destroying them. They’re up like 30 something games or five the last 40 games or something. It was crazy. Uh they’ve had so many iterations of them. But that’s the issue, Rob. Clippers, flippers, slippers. They still clip. And the Clippers always seem to clip. When I first moved here in 2011, that was the Chris Paul live city era and I was all in. I’ve been a massive Chris Paul fan. He’s one of my favorite players of all time. I thought he was, you know, I think he’s amazing. And that team was so fun. Jamal Crawford went to Michigan, as you know. Well, I won’t say I knew him, but you see him around the way. And that was team was a blast. And they were the sexy pick to pick to win the championship for a handful of years and they never got it done. Then they move on and they get to Kawhi Leonard and they got great players on that team and they get Paul George and the issue I have is it just hasn’t amounted to something and to me there’s no more excuses because of what you just me mentioned. You have the most the richest owner in basketball who actually cares, too. He’s all in. He’s invested. I like Steve Balmer. You have a new arena. You’re not in the Lakers or the King’s Shadow anymore. You got your own home out there in Englewood. Everyone seems to enjoy the Into Dome. Seems to be popping. So, you got that. You’ve got stars now. You keep getting guys as you mentioned. You got older stars. You got middling stars. You got guys who want to come from Brook Lopez was still one. He’s from here, too. Uh, you got Brook Lopez, but he could have gone to the Lakers. They wanted him. And so you’re doing all of this. You have to win. This is to me there’s no excuse. You’ve got great players. You got a great coach. You got a great ownership. You got a fancy new arena. This has to be it. Cuz my last point, Rob, when I first moved here, I was disappointed in the Clippers because they had a chance. Right now, if you were a 12 year old, 15 to 16 year old kid, you could have been a Clipper fan because what would have happened was your parents would say, “No, we’re Laker fans.” But all you would have known was bad years of Kobe and bad teams and you’d have been like all I see is this Clippers are fun. They’re exciting. Lap City, they’re winning had they won a ring or two. And I believe they miss an opportunity for in Los Angeles. Not older heads and not the vast majority. But a nice contingency of young people who all they known is the Lakers ain’t really been that great. The Clippers been winning a lot. Maybe win a ring or two with Lob City or with Kawawaii, you know what I mean? And now you got a nice fan base that used to you winning. And that’s how you build a fan base with young folks. You’re never going to win anybody 20 and older. All they’ve known is Shaq and Kobe Magic and so on and so forth. That was my biggest thing. And the team that did it was the Warriors. The Warriors crept in LA during those years. Rob G, did you not see a bunch of kids starting to wear Warrior jerseys? Didn’t wear Lakers. But that’s my point. It was Steph. It was the winning. It was a splash brothers. They just thought they could pick Steph up and he was there. Yeah. And and that’s what I’m but I’m saying the Clippers to me, I thought they had an amazing chance to make a little small dent over the last 1015 years with the young fan base. But I but you got it’s it’s impressive on how many people have chosen. I agree. But do something. Come on. I’m I’m not mad at them. Find a way to win. All right. 87799 on Fox. 8779966369. Are the Clippers the new chosen franchise in the NBA? We got it wrong here. Are we Are we overhyping because we live in Los Angeles? I think you are overhyping. I I think they’re the chosen franchise. And do you expect this uh Bradley Beal addition to pay off with a championship or will it be Clippers as usual? All right, Rod, we were just having a conversation with Clippers. You say the Chosen franchise. I say the franchise have had plenty of chances to finally make a dent in LA and finally get the new fan base and they just always get close with no cigar. I don’t think they’re the chosen franchise although they have have pulled a few good names. I’ll give you that. 87799 on Fox. Who we got? How about Jay in Georgia? You’re on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What’s up, Jay? Hey, what’s up, Rob? What’s up, Kevin? How you? Hey, Rob. Let me go tell you. I was at the Allstar game last night, man. It was amazing. It was amazing, right? Yeah. What what was it? That Hey, Aaron um tribute. Just that that was the most amazing thing I ever seen. Yeah. The way that they had the 715 and all the lights and everything and then the great shot of his widow there was pretty amazing. Oh yeah, they did it right. But uh to get back to the uh Clippers, I I don’t I’m not really feeling the Bradley Bill thing yet. I mean, he hasn’t been Bradley Bill as we know him since what, like 2020, 2021. So I don’t really see how it moves to me. And the clips kind of remind me of like my Atlanta sports team how we just seen curse for some reason. how we always choke in the big moments and that’s how I always look view the Clippers. I mean they got a great player Kawhai. They got a great head coach in Tyloo but I don’t know what it is. Just something always seem missing. That’s true. Turn the corner. And that’s how I feel too J because like it doesn’t make sense. They’ve had great teams. I mean those live city teams were favored and they got really far. It’s the year the Lakers won in the bubble they was supposed to win. That was the year they supposed to win 100%. It’s like something off. The Lakers couldn’t beat them and they got knocked up before and the Lakers ain’t been beating them for the most part for the last 10, 12, 15 years. It’s crazy. Uh, Track in Rancho, California. You’re on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What’s up, Track? Hey, what’s up? Hey, I want to tell you guys about these Clippers. Look, I used to work for the Clippers 2011. We was all Lakers fans straight up. And I tell you about the players that go there, they just want to live under the radar. They can’t live they can’t live up to the hype. They’ll get scrutinized. There’s no hot takes on the Clippers. There’s no storylines on the Clippers. If the Lakers got a losing record, the Clippers are like the Los Angeles Anaheim Angels. Man, there is no way that people want to come play there and for a championship. They get in there, they go there for their check. Man, check this out. If you get someone that comes to the Lakers, I mean, they can’t even live under the the lights, man. They can’t hit a free throw. That’s how much the spotlight is on that team in LA. I get I get that. There’s no comparison. It’s like the Yankees and Mets and I and I get that. You know what I mean? Or teams where there’s two teams in a city, the the Cubs and the White Socks. I get all that, but it still says something about that organization that people still want to mess with them. The the the Donald Sterling Clippers, nobody was coming to and they had the sunshine and they could play in LA, you know what I mean? and all that and people didn’t want to go there cuz it was like oh my god why would I want to play for that organization that they’ve made a big improvement that building they have if you don’t go there and look at what they’ve got going and tail and you got a superstar who’s who’s manageable and like I said Steve Balmer I mean it just it’s that’s it’s all there sitting there and I think there is some something that players want to be I can be that piece they just need me I can be that one piece If you’re a John Wall, you feel like I can be that piece if I’m a Russell Westbrook. That piece to get him over the edge. I think they’ve gotten guys with that, but it just hasn’t worked out. Orlando in El Paso, Texas, you’re on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What’s up, Orlando? Hey, good afternoon, guys. Yo yo, good afternoon. Thank you. Um I just The Clippers had a window and they just didn’t capitalize on it. I remember Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, what you call DeAndre Jordan’s prime. They had a good team, but you know, Doc Rivers with his whole nonsense about, well, I’ve never gotten swept, you know, after failed to Houston. That was terrible. I feel for a player like Chris Paul cuz he didn’t deserve that. He you could tell he tore his soul, blood, sweat, tears, everything in Chris Paul had some bad get big games for them, too. And he just was, it wasn’t some of it was his own health. He couldn’t, you know, hamstring not working or something always wrong. Always hurt or something. Thanks, Orlando. Appreciate the call. How about real quick call in Mobile, Alabama. You’re on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What’s up, Call? What’s up, guys? Thanks for taking my call. You’re the caller just for this one. Nailed it. I think the Clippers are that organization where guys go and they can make money without the pressure. It’s like Brooklyn and New York, you know, Durant and and uh Kyrie, they go to Brooklyn. You don’t have that pressure of like championship. But you know what? I Yeah, I do too. And I’m gonna say this call in in the New York thing like people the Knicks owner. People didn’t want to go there. Like they like they haven’t been able to get anybody. So being the Knicks, they haven’t got people you thought they would. You know what I mean, Carl? Like like I I hear you with there is a different pressure between Brooklyn and playing for the Knicks. I’m not poo pooing what you’re saying. But I’m telling you that the Knicks owner was bad and a lot of pe people were like was is you know what I mean? Just make sure you said was Jim Dolan James Dolan. Yes. James, he’s probably mad at us right now for saying that. You ain’t never going back to Master Square Garden.

Clippers trading SGA for Paul George is top 10 dumbest trades of all time!
Same salty lakers fans that are ripping clippers cause they got Beal, Lopez and others, will celebrate if their team got them. They were celebrating “ Jake Laravia” like he was the second coming of Larry bird. Joke fanbase. Man these lakers fan will face a downfall like the current Manchester United at this rate 😂 No picks, A 40 year old Washed 🐐, skinny to fat by the end of season luka, AR15 and a bunch of nobodies. 😂
The problem is nobody wants to play with LeBron and bronny. The world knows that
what a joke i cant tell if Rob is Trolling or Hating lol
Ty Lue is way overrated, he needs to get replaced.
Rob Parker back on the bandwagon 😂
Why did kobe name cone out of his mouth? This is a clippers segment…the kobe Slander has to be manufactured by someone 🤔 all they know is kobe losing for years, lol…we know kobe as a winner of 5 titles mic 🎤 drop
Clippers been getting clipped by the players they been getting
The Clippers are indeed a chosen franchise… chosen chokers. This latest move doesn't move the needle for me. Beal will play at most just over 50 games and the Clippers' celling is at best the second round as usual.
Thinking PG had a winner’s character was always a mistake.
The chosen regarded! Lol this aint gonna work. Lol😂
News flash on the horrible Lakers in the last 10-15 years. Lakers 2 rings since 2009. Clippers have 0 rings in their entire history and have yet to make it to conference finals
The richest owner. Clippers haven’t won anything.
The Flippers ain’t goin nowhere! Beal chose the wrong franchise again. Ha Ha… he will find out soon enough that the Flippers are consistent losers.
😂😂no one and I mean no one wants to play with Le40😂😂😂😂
Lol, lakers fans are big mad. No one wants to play for them.
Yes they are team to go but they never win championship
Players like going to the Clippers because the Lakers have a Drama queen running the team. When he retires Players will return..
It's no expectations for the clippers period ‼️
People dont want to play with Lebron 😂
Actually a sht tone of young generation in LA wear Clippers jersey and clothing. Bro is blind. Balmer has covered damn near every Park and school yard with Clippers Courts. Lakers only support OC you don't see Lakers doing any community service anymore in LA
Because they'll take anything that gets sold to them.. 😅
Theyre chosen to do what?? Lose in the 1st and 2nd round every year and no win Championships?? lol tf??
Ty Lue is overrated
Clippers have been much better than the Lakers how? Lol
A chance to play with no expectations of winning …Kawhi is the first part -time NBA player🙃…all those wins y'all talking about Lakers head 2 head ..against the Clippers get this 107-66 😅 not even close ….STOP it
4:27 is exactly how I became a clipper fan
Moron I. The chat said kawhi had more help then LeBron
The whole lakers organization including the fans are toxic
Steve ballmer should have moved da clippers back to san diego type 💩 so they would have their own identity and fan base and the mexicans would root for them too bcuz of the close proximity
Injury’s & Load Management Will Plague The Clippers 😅
When Rob loves a player or team they can do no wrong. The Clippers are losers. They had a chance to play the Lakers in the bubble for a chance at the finals. They blew it like a porn star.
I'm Just quite ,, Bradley Will the
franchise🤩🤩
Better than the Lakers? We realize why that’s a dumb statement right?
