Courtside: Cam Johnson, Christian Braun & More Nuggets At NBA Summer League 2025

Yet another year of NBA Summer League. One of my favorite events. If you’re an NBA fan, this is the place you want to be. The entire NBA world is here. They’re sitting front row that you walk by. There’s so many just NBA people just in these two gyms. I’m here for the Kings game. Uh mainly because Nick Clifford and Isaiah Stevens, they’re both here. Two Colorado State Rams both playing on the Kings. Then I’m going to go oversee Cooper Flag, obviously. And then the Nuggets play here. Busy first day. Oh boy. Oh, silly time. Please contain your excitement, sir. We going to circle. Do something. Just watch the heartbreaker, man. What? Did you know that shot was going in the moment it came out? It looked good. It looked good from the moment it came out. You know, it was a tough shot though. We played good defense on him. Uh he had to pump fake and change up the shot, but you know something that’s the NBA for you. You know, good defense, better offense. It was a good game though. The second half was a lot of fun, man. Catch us up on what you’ve been up to in the offseason. How’s it going? I’ve been good. I’ve been good. I just been taking care of my body, getting my body right first and foremost, and then lifting a lot. doing a lot of lifting, just getting stronger, picking up a little bit of weight, um, and just shooting a million jumpers as many as I can. My phone died while Tamar Bates was holding my phone and was calling into the show. But, uh, I felt like a a functional, productive member of the staff until uh, the phone died and then I felt like exactly who I am. Oh, okay. That’s you that are going to teach me how to be a professional. That is the longest line I have ever seen for a summer league game that I’ve ever been to. I think that’s because the number one pick is playing the number two pick right now. One more heat. There we go. Take your first travel. Let’s go. I like how did it happen? How did it all come together that you joined the staff? Uh I was interviewing for different teams. Uh I got a then I got a text message from one the head coach after they asked for permission wanted me to come up there. I was overseas in uh Singapore doing basketball beyond borders and he’s like you know take you know take a week and let’s do dinner. And I told him I said hey listen anytime it’s for the number one spot for the Denver Nuggets I’ll fly you out the next day. So, I flew out the next day. We had a phenomenal dinner and thought dinner went four 4 and 1/2 hours. And so, being with him, it’s our first time really talking and uh just breaking down offense, defense, how we would do things, how we wouldn’t do things, then coming in the next day. And then within what, 12, 14 hours, by the time I uh hit the plane, the offer was already done there. And it only took me one minute to decide. Really? Just one minute. Yeah. We know what we got on this team. We just try to make it a little bit better, bring a lot of new energy, uh keep them really positive during the year and give the fans, you know, another great year. What are some things that, uh, that you can bring from your playing days that you can bring to this team right now? Man, a lot of experience, a lot of great coaches before that I learned from, uh, a lot of good teammates, uh, and energy. You know, I’m always going to bring my energy. I love the basketball. I love the NBA. Uh, keep the guys positive, you know, bring bring whatever I can, whatever I I learned during during my career and bring it to to the players. Um, all right. So, the last Nuggets game we got to see here in Vegas, not that great, but a lot of people were here. That was cool. Christian Brown, Pton Watson, the new guys, Kim Johnson, Tim Hardaway Jr., all the coaches, the whole Brain Trust. Really cool to see. Um, so that wraps it up. We’re done with summer league. We’re going back to Denver. Yeah. What would you like? What do you know about that? jazz part of me.
