[Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Rockets and there Rocket fans filing in to get a glimpse of their up and cominging stars and Dominique Wilkins. That jersey always popular in the building. And speaking of the Atlanta Hawks Channing, they are one of 10 teams that remain undefeated. We’re halfway through the Vegas Summer League pool play, as I like to call it. They’re 2 and 0 right now, looking to make it 3 and 0. Remember, only the top four teams make it into the championship tournament for the semifinals. We welcome you inside the Thomas and Max Center. Hey there, I’m Stephanie Ready alongside Chann Fry. We’re glad to be here. Yeah, we are so happy that you guys are here with us and we’re going to have a ball today. Remember, we’ve got two games for you. This first one though should be a doozy because we’ve got some names that you’re going to be familiar with and we’re gonna help you chart them as we speak. Asa Newell for the Atlanta Hawks. So happy that he’s playing tonight. Man, this kid could do it all. But what I want to see from him is he getting better every single day. And I talked to Kyle Corver, my guy, the Golden Eagle, and he’s looking for fit and style. And is this kid going to get better every single night? What you see here, he can score in a bunch of different ways. great finisher, slashing, attacking the rim. Skill set is amazing. The Hawks are one of the teams that make a huge splash during the summer during free agency. And how does he fit in? Well, here’s how he fits in on the surface. Remember, one of four guys from Montver Academy that was drafted in the first round of the 2025 draft SEC all freshman team. You can see his numbers from his one year at University of Georgia. 23rd overall pick, Asa Newell looking to make an impact on this Atlanta Hawks team. And for the Houston Rockets and Fali Dante, a restricted free agent for the Rockets. This guy’s a monster. Let me tell you, he’s a monster. Went to Oregon, uh, seen him play a couple times, but you know what the Rockets need? Number one, they always need some dogs. Zay Adoka has done a great job of changing that culture. They went from a development team to a team trying to win a chip, getting KD. And when you look at Stephen Adams, you look at uh Clint Capella, they need some young bigs, especially if you want to compete in the West playing guys like Yokic. It’s unbelievable that how quickly they went there. Let’s take a look at our starting lineups for these two teams that we’ve got on tap for you as we get ready to tip. Atlanta Hawks, Kobe Buffkin number four in the lineup. That’s great news. Houston Rockets there on the right side as we seem to have a bit of a hold up with the officials. You know, everybody’s here practicing. We’re we’re getting the kinks up for NBA season. Well, we’re ready to go. We’ll see how it goes. Um, looks like they’re about to get going. JT or NBA official for the regular season. He’s going to tip it up. And we’ve got Danielle Scott and Male Medist, our three officials. Hawks with the first possession and Kobe Buffkin looking to start things off. Channing. Yeah, for me it’s let’s see how they execute this first play. What are they looking for? Who are they looking to showcase early on? Dig Stevens dribble handoff back to Buskin. He’s looking to go back inside, but instead Asa Newle with it. He figures it out off the glass. Great move. Just being aggressive, really patient. Uh not in a rush. The defender did a good job of defending it. Just better offense. Malik Wilson with the basketball for the Houston Rockets starting the offense. Chandler with the drop off. The assist is good in Folly Dante. That’s what you’re looking for. If you could do that, young man, you’re going to be in the league a long time. Bigs are an absolute must nowadays. Uh just has to continue that that energy, set good screens, and roll and get off good dunks. Dante with that rebound and then runs the floor to get the attempt. He gets fouled so he’ll get to the free throw line. Yeah, just showcasing the big man early on right here. Just obviously he’s a lefty going to that left sweeping hook, finishing over the contender. And then the big fella right here, you know, listen, a little push open, but nobody’s worried about it. You know, Rockets are on the drop of the ice. So he gets to his little floater range. Really liking his development, his size. And Dante misses the first 611 center. You mentioned from Oregon. You said you took your kids to watch them play. Yeah, I took them to watch them lose. They played Arizona. Of course they did. I was going to break it up. Yeah, you got you set me up. Had to do it early. Second one is good by Dante. Ooh, some forward pressure here. Forcing the turnover. Oh, great being aggressive. And let’s be real, how many of these guys really are going to get opportunities to play on the Rockets? And and this is who the Rockets are. They’re a defensive-minded team. This is how they’ve turned around that that program or that program that that team this quickly is because they’ve become defensive minded with EA there. They put those kind of guys there. So, these guys have to say, “Hey, we fit in and we will do the dirty work to get an opportunity to play with this team that’s trying to win a chip.” Well, the pressure worked. They ended up forcing the turnover. Here’s a look at the Atlanta Hawks head coach for summer league, Brian Bailey. Remember, Hawks are two and0 looking to make it to the semifinals for this tournament here in Las Vegas. Only the top four teams go. So, they have a chance. They have a chance. And you know what? People’s like, “Well, what does it matter if you win a couple more games in summer league?” Well, it means a lot. It means a lot more zeros on those checks. It means more people watching you. As Topham makes a great move, uh these guys want to be seen, not just by the team they’re playing for, but by every team in the league. And you may have one bad game and if that’s the end of your summer league time, that’s the last take they’re going to see. That’s right. So keep quiet wants that. Let’s take a look back at that toppin take just like his brother getting to the rack being athletic and finishing. Compliments. You’re right. Do the man. Yes, he is. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind the comparison. Probably did that a lot in the court front yard. More pressure here by the Rockets. Buffkin looking to handle it on his own. Gets here free and clear to set the offense up. Buffin probing. Oh, gets the open look. Create space there. I think the Atlanta Hawks have seven lefties. Oh my goodness. Lord have mercy. That’s what you were talking about. That’s what I’m talking about. Big man that can run the floor and finish. big men run finish and then now it’s a little hobbling. Yeah, I’ve seen enough. Take him out. Yeah, that’s right. That’s You’re exactly right. For sure. I mean, think about a guy like that on the Lakers. Think about a guy like that. So, he’s not just showcasing for the Rockets. He showcased for the rest of a big like that is a must. He is in pain. He is really in pain. Look, he can barely put any pressure on it. His knee, too. Oh, no. It’s Looks like he’s holding down low. Yeah, he’s grabbing everything. They look like they have a sub. Let’s see what happened. Yeah, this is the dunk. Lands a little awkwardly. No, no, no. But he seemed to be okay coming off of that. Yeah, I think it’s on the way back. It wasn’t a dunk. It was on the way back. I think somebody shot him. He maybe have stepped on somebody’s foot. Yeah, he twisted it pretty good. You can see him at the table now. Bent over. Yeah. Well, guess what? Good job. Yes. Check the box. We know you can run and dunk. Perfect. Oh my goodness. Look, he doesn’t want to put any pressure on it at all. I mean, nobody gonna help him. Oh, it’s the Hawks, though. It’s the Hawks. None of his team was going to help him. Oh, here it is. Look on the way back. Oh, that was weird. These type of things happen. Congestion in the paint. That’s unfortunate. Well, next man up. That’s what some about. That’s why we’re here. Asa Newell with another free throw attempt. Hawks up 87. Excuse me. Houston’s up 8-7. Now we’re tied at eight. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of offense they run now. They’re really running uh run their offense through the big man Dante down. They have now. We’ll see what kind with the assist attempt. Toppin bringing it up. To copin was looking for it inside. Buffkin waves him off. Turnover inside and a foul in transition. Uritic with the foul. All right, we’ve got the Houston Rockets head coach for summer league Garrett Jackson. Thirdyear assistant coach with Houston. He was in player development in Boston with Eay Yodoka. Okay. So, you can see the connection there for sure. I I think I don’t know another team maybe other than Atlanta that went from, hey, we’re, you know, we’re just seeing what we have to, man, let’s go for it. Quick. They flip the switch quick in Houston. Three attempt no good. Double team on Buffin. He finds the open man and then quickly to Newell. Good defense. Wilson looking to break down Uruch. Chandler in the corner. Back out to Wilson. Big man puts it on the floor. Oh, good move. Hit him with the pump fake. Drive left. Finish over the length. Puffin being very aggressive attacking, getting in the paint. He’s just creating action, right? Getting two feet in the paint, creating something to happen with the defense collapse and getting good shots. Another attempt. Osabore. First one went down. Second one no good. Yeah, excuse me. Bless you. Thank you. Oh, we should have shot that. No lie. Oh, turnover. Wilson finishes on his own. Trying to get something going here. The Rockets have been applying some pressure defensively, hoping to get easy buckets. Man, if you can score off that transition, it makes everyone feel involved on the offensive end. The Memphis just going to play a little bit harder. Oh, the runner’s no good in the paint. Chandler up. Oh, both guys. Pace is quickening here. Another turnover. It’s hacking the glass. Kennedy Chandler. He gets the bucket and the foul. Hey, sees he’s oneonone. Says no. Barbecue chicken alert and one. We’ll be right back. What are you [Music] [Music] [Music] Yeah, guys. Had a chance to have Reed’s first game here in the summer league. He’s super excited about the season. been living in the weight room. You see his body chanting stronger and understanding this, the game has changed. Jar Channon, to your point, they’re trying to win a championship. The ball’s going to be in KD’s hands. And what does he do best? He’s a knockdown shooter and that’s going to create space in that offense for the Rockets. Well, I think you got to think about the moves that the Rockets made. They wouldn’t have made those moves if they didn’t see him putting in the work. If they weren’t comfortable with his development and where they’re going. Wow. Um, Reed Shepard is an absolute bucket and if KD can play one-on-one, you can allow some of these other guys to play one-on-one with his his skill set. Man, the Rockets obviously are going to be nice. Yes, and he obviously is out today due to rest. And let’s take a look at the offseason recap. A lot of activity, Channing, they’re just adding guys that are Houston guys right now. Anytime you can add KD, that’s an obvious. Um, ressigning Steven Adams and Fred I think was huge for their their locker room, their culture and their winning. Um, Clink Capella adding size. Uh, Dorian Finny Smith, everyone needs a 3 and D guy. Um, who just understands their roles, a great role player. But again, when you look at this, they’re adding Houston style guys that fit with EA personality that fit with the city of Houston. So, they’ve done a great job. Yeah, it’s been impressive. As you said, it was flipped very quickly once they recognized how far along they already were, right? And had the opportunity to add someone like Kevin Durant. I mean, it’s a no-brainer, right? Number two in the West. And the West was a beast this year. Wait a second. We know what we’re missing. Why wait? You know, and and Kim Whitmore is a great player, and I know I didn’t mention him, but even I think it was a jammer or president said, “Hey, we’re not rebuilding anything, right? We’re not in that stage. We’re trying to get it.” Yeah, for sure. The moves certainly dictate that. Good job. Three is good. Fourth lead change already in this game. This going to be a tight game. I think you know the way that the coaches need to coach both of these teams. That’s really high aspirations for their teams and are establishing themselves culturally. Samuels Jr. with the bucket. He’s out of Villanova. We have quite a few Villanova guys in the NBA these days. With the kick out keeping it. Oh, he finds some. Nearly an assist. Nearly an assist. He likes to handle the work. Don’t matter. I like it. Yeah. Topin serveing. Is he going to use the screen? Goes baseline instead. Great kick. Kicks it out. Oh yes. He gets it back for the bucket. You know that just the the the unselfishness goes a long way for the rhythm of your team. And a lot of these guys are new to being teammates. So to trust that next guy that he’s going to make the right pass is is great to see. Kennedy Chandler knocks it down for Houston. McVey with the onelegged fadeaway. McVey said, “Hold up now. Y’all gonna see me today. I’mma get these buckets. Like I’m here. Hello. Hey, listen. There’s a leak. Somebody got to go get a bucket. And McBa’s getting them. Right. Here he is. Look at this with a little fade away slap on the forearm. Says M1. Quite Dirk. Dirk. Right. I need T-Mo D. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. For sure. Uh Jack McVey was on a two-way deal last year with the Houston Rockets. [Music] played on the Australian national team at the Olympics in Paris. So, he’s got some experience. It’s so funny. The Rockets have like I’ve seen one center in four days here and the Rockets have three of them. They know what they were looking for. Makes shopping a lot easier when you have a list. What is that? The list. I never go to a grocery store with a list. Oh, for heaven’s sake. Why am I not surprised? That’s Moses Brown that just subbed in for Houston. That’s why Channing is speaking of the bigs. They have 72 center. And there’s Brown with the rebound. Missed the put back. You love the drive. Draws three. Three people try to block that shot. Brown was just right there getting himself involved early. Yo, white. Brown misses the first one. Coming up next right here on NBA TV, we’ve got Charlotte and Dallas at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Make sure you stay for that. It will not disappoint. And then tonight on ESPNU, three more games on the docket. Another one. That’s what they said about games. You going to get another one. You want some games, you got them. It’s a good thing about summer leagues. [Music] Good try. Chandler with a deflection. Buffin inbounds. Inbounding the ball. You can hear Mc’s Australian accent. Yeah, I love that. I’ve seen more teams this year, other than last year, I think Philly played a zone the whole time, but more and more teams are starting out of that sideline, out of bounds in his own game. Yes, it was Nelly Jr. Joseph with the bucket and draws the foul. [Music] All right, he’ll have a free throw after this break. Big guy gets it on the block, which you rarely see, and hits him with a little baby hook and one. Put that arm up, Brown. [Music] [Music] Vegas. And as promised, he’ll be shooting a free throw here. He got the bucket and drew the foul. Nelli Jr. Joseph out of New Mexico, undrafted this year. So, he certainly is trying to make a name for himself. Shout out to Lobos. Uh, neither team has really shot well from the three. I think three for 10 for both teams, but they are extremely aggressive getting to that rack. Um, collapsing the defense. I don’t know if they have dropped dead shooters, but they’re going to need a little bit more. Desie probably makes this right. Malik Wilson with a miss. That’s about on par. Oh, that could have been worse. Yes, it could have been a lot worse. Good sportsmanship here. Just trying to create some havoc in the back court. A little late on the close. You know, those are rookie mistakes when you do one or two, three mistakes in a row. So, you take the three, no pass shot. Mhm. Then you come and do another turnover. You know what’s the next sound you’re going to hear? Yeah. Come sit next to me, young man. Okay. Okay. Bucket is good. Adam Flagler knocking down the three. Yeah, Rocket’s in that sitting in that zone. I know how you feel. You break a zone. I already know. Mhm. I’ve never seen the zone. I don’t know. Barbecue chicken. I love it. Okay. Great block in transition. Show me something. Okay. That’s two points, huh? Yeah. Two is two. You got hops like 3D. I’m not going to stand for that. He’s over there. He’s laughing. Okay. 3D. I’m not going to let him do that to you. Cookies. Turnover. Give it up. How do you run the break? Arms to Wilson. Little reverse action. That’s how you run a break with the pass over the top. Good ball movement here. Great ball movement. Jack White with the attempt in the corner. Those are great shots. Now, obviously, you’re going to work on it, but man, I’ve seen a lot of bad fast breaks, but this one was great. One dribble, get an alley dump for two points for the Houston Rockets. So pretty. I mean, when you do it right, it’s pretty easy. Yeah, but some people, you know, listen, basketball’s a very subconscious game, and if you are thirsty for that basketball, you are not going to pass that ball on time or on target. How about that? That’s a good point. Great point. If you don’t say so yourself. Oh, I will say Wilson getting in the gut. Kicks it out. Bucket is good. Chris and as on Q. As soon as I say some the teams are bad at something, what do they do? Go be good at it. Start making shots. Do see right there. White has to cut. Good kick out. Extra pass. Joseph drawing lots of defenders. Nine Rockets have already scored. Can see like that’s not a that decision. Where are you going right there? And I think this is where you watch film and they start to get better. I know he got a block, but right there you don’t have anything in that secondary break. You have six sets of eyes looking at you. Kick it up, get to your spots, and go from there. Like right here, look. Who is he going at? One, two, three, four. Right. Kick it back out. Trust your offense. But that comes with practice. That comes with with film. Um, good idea, bad situation. Buffkin has three fouls. Well, it don’t matter. He can get 10. Yeah. I don’t think he’s coming out. No. This must be This was the first year I’ve seen more fouls before the ball was inbound than any other year I’ve done this. I’ve only done this six years. Every game it happens four times. Away from the ball foul. Yep. Kennedy Chandler will shoot one shot. Then they’ll get the ball back. And they will get the ball back. Rockets with an opportunity to get something going here. Maybe pull away a little bit. Quarter’s winding down. only a one-point game, 80 run, so they could try to extend that. The swings here at Summer League are wild to say the least. Uh when you’re adding new guys who maybe have not played that position or being asked to do a role that they’re not comfortable with for the purpose of summer league, right? Uh puts everybody at a different position, right? So these swings may come because your starters are playing bench guys and there’s not a center, right? So, you just got to stay tuned. These games are unpredictable at best. Offensive rebound, a put back attempt. And here’s Wilson with an offensive rebound and then turnover. Yep. And now he’s not paying attention to the time. Buffkin turnaround jumper is good inside. Just under 10 seconds left. Rockets will have this last possession. [Music] Good defense by Atlanta. Good defense. That was terrific. He thought he was going to use that screen. No go. Great job. Nine lead changes. Asa Newell. He’s been impressive so far today. Toppin also very impressive. He said, “Hey, I know you know my brother, but this is my time to shine.” Tide ball game. Hims was a fantastic find. Hims makes me feel [Music] your rhythm getting to the basket. Yeah, I’m just uh running the floor. My teammates are finding me and I’m just making the right play. Uh, and that’s to my teammates. How tough is it sometime in summerly trying to find new guys, trying to find that chemistry so you can play well? Yeah, it it’s really hard playing with new guys, but this group is uh very versatile and uh we’re all sticking together with it and we’re um starting on the defensive end, so we got to continue to do that. Appreciate you. Keep doing what you do. All right. I like that they’re focusing on defense. That’s always a good thing. Yeah. Listen, if you can’t play defense now in today’s game, you you saw the year that OKC had and as good as SJ was, they were that much better, almost legendary when it came to defense. Uh Wilson and Chandler, not Wilson Chandler, you say what I did there? I did. Have been amazing at attacking the rack and when the defense goes and steps over the weak side help, they do a great job of getting that big man opportunities uh easy at the rim. Yeah, unfortunately OB misses free throws. Well, you can’t shoot the ball for him. No. McVey with the ball. 10 seconds on the shot clock. Now Buffin’s got to do something here. Houston can’t even get the ball past the summer league sign and Bretchie makes that shot. Uh, you know, look, Houston’s defense is swarming. Swarming. It’s crazy. It really is. And Ken, you know, we talked about this before the game, but you should share with everybody at home. Eay Udoka, the head coach for the Rockets, and his personality, and what you mean when you say they’re looking for someone who fits into Houston. So, I had an opportunity to play with Eay uh on the New York Knicks and realized very care quickly how intense he is. Um, he’s not a loud guy, but if you put your ear, you’re going to realize how many cuss words he’s actually saying at. Um, Eay basketball is life and death, and Eay wants to play ball the right way. you know, many years in San Antonio. Had opportunities, shown what he could do to rebuild teams. Uh, you know, he’s from, you know, Portland, Portland State. We played pickup games, uh, back when I was playing. He is the worst player to play pickup basketball with because he would cheat left and right, to win those games. Is he one of those people, if you’re not cheating, you’re not trying? For sure. And then thing is is, you know, for me, his intensity is just about it’s hard to match it. you can’t be on the court with him and not match your intensity. And so you’ve seen the things that the players have said, Van Bleet, uh, and Sanguin, um, all those guys in Houston about how he demands excellence and respects it or needs it every single day. Um, so man, he’s changed the culture quickly and they need guys who can be coached and want to be challenged and want to win games. That’s amazing because that’s something that is hard to do in this league come in and change the culture and to do it that fast. Yes. A lot of guys don’t want to be reminded that they need to be professional every single day. Um, they don’t want to be reminded about what they need to work on, right? No one wants to talk about their weak points, right? It’s it’s tough, right? Because, you know, you want to just live in a space of where I’m good at this. Well, Eay needs you to be a great basketball player every single day. And that demands sacrifice and energy and attention. Well, we’re seeing the Houston Rocket summer league team display that oidor with another bucket. Yeah. Well, eventually, you know, you look at the scatter report, you’re going to realize he drives left from top of the key, you know, but Stevens, you’ll learn eventually. Jack McVey knocks down the three. They are attacking Stevens in that center. Arms break with that drive. Johnson trying to get in. Draws the foul on Matthews. [Music] It’s interesting. I mean, you talked about it earlier, Channing, how we haven’t seen a lot of true centers, and I think that’s pretty typical of summer league. You have mostly guards, but what you find is there are different types of guards, right? Ones that can create for others and one that prefer to create for themselves. Yes. Most of the time here we’re finding combo guards that need time under film to learn how to make plays for their teammates. Um just the way that they see the game. It’s not like they can’t do it. It’s just not natural for them or they’ve not been asked. They’ve been the best guard on their team. So it’s like, hey, score for us to win. When you’re in the league, I’m going to tell you this right now. If you’re on the Rockets or Hawks, brother man, passing passing. And then obviously defensively, they’re going to need that intensity. So like you’re not going to be the man on either one of these teams. Fred Van Ble’s a champion. Obviously shows you can win. Can you make decisions? Can you make people better? And are you going to make an impact without having the ball in your hands? Yeah, that’s a great point. It comes down to you Trey Young or KD at the bottom of the list. You ain’t on the list. We’re talking about what you get. That is so true. But you know what? having an impact without the ball in your hands. That could be defensively could be physicality. Lots of ways to do it. Lots of ways to do it. And and if it’s not pretty, it’s not going to be in the stat book. But if you don’t think that coach has noticed who talks, are you talking loud on the screening roll? Are you switching when you need to? Are you executing the play out of a timeout? Right? Do you set good screens? Do you make the open play? Do you pass the ball up instead of dribble the ball 16 times? Everyone does. It’s just uh those little things that pros do and they want to see. Can you be a pro? So, so good. Kenny Chandler knocks down the first one. We’ve got some substitutions here coming in. Waves of players. They have been substituting crazy today. Asa Newell in for Atlanta. Oh no, they missed the free throw and got the rebound. Arms with the attempt. That’s no good. Another offensive chance. Brown just one, he’s 7 foot six. I don’t know if he’s really 7 foot6, but two, he is bouncy and has long arms. And you know, a guy like that who’s been in the league a little bit, trying to find his way back. He’s going to be a little bit more determined to make sure that they win these games to get seen. See the next generation of NBA stars at NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Tickets are going fast. Get yours now at nbaevents.com. All right, he makes that one. Oh, he made that one. You don’t listen, not everybody’s perfect. There are little things we can work on. Well, I mean, that’s what we’re hearing. I think some young players may not understand that people are not expecting you to be a finished product. No, you’re a work in progress literally until the day you retire, right? You’re always trying to improve and get better. Sure. Now, if you’re not, then you’re in the wrong league. That’s right. And you’re not going to last long. No. Chandler calling for that ball screen from Brown. Looks for the step back. That’s no good. Little graphic jersey action. Brown’s energy on those offensive rebounds is really what teams are going to say, “Hey, we’re not going to get to you on the block.” Screen and roll. Get down there. Be aggressive. Cause havoc. Offensive rebounds, fouls. That’s right. You know, get in there. Starting center, backup center in foul trouble early. Now they have to go to their third center, fourth center. Those things help teams win games. Yep. That knocks it down. He shot that thing to the moon. Jesus’s toes. One-point game. Still neither team figuring out how to create some separation. That was great shot. Urgentic with the bucket. Great move. Way to turn that corner. Keep the body. Finish with another am. Arms draws the foul. 4037 is the game here in the second quarter. We’ll be back from Vegas. Sex RX by HIMS is a range of daily ED treatments customized to do more. If prescribed, treatment includes medication [Music] [Music] No, he just got him airball. Playing through some physical play. Let’s see what happens here. Rockets keep it in transition. Adonis arms. Eight. Okay. Turn around jumper. The Rockets have not shot well at all from the three-point line, but they are, you know, well, they weren’t turned the ball over a lot. I think that’s their fourth. Yes. But they’re keeping in the game by attacking the rim, getting steals, getting deflections, turnovers, getting out on the break. They are relentless at attacking the rim. They’re shooting 50%. 24 of their 43 points already in the paint. Can do a lot of damage like that. New trying to make something happen. Draws the foul. Did you hear the coach? He was He wanted them to double team and they wouldn’t. New can be a problem. Yes, he could be a problem with his size and skill set. The fact that they’re looking for him um in those mismatch opportunities, that means you trust him. That means he’s going to make the right decision. And even right there, getting fouled, getting into hopefully getting into a bonus soon, um, is is a skill. Yes, he can’t pick up his dribble right now. [Applause] Good bucket, Joseph Jr. through traffic. Oscar again. Load down there. He makes something happen. He makes something happen. And I think people forget that he’s left-handed. 68. Good body size. Two shots. He’s got two shots here. He’s right-handed. What? Look like it. He may shoot right. I know that dude. If I was looking at scatter report, everything he’s done today is all left hand. Is he Is he ambidextrous? He he could maybe he practices the left drive, but even on that move right there, he went right hand over top with the left almost forced going over left. Let’s watch it. Yep. Let’s watch. [Music] To Oh, they called it blocking. That seems a little aggressive on the offensive end. Look, that’s how we call it now. Here, let’s take a look. You call it. Yeah, this the third bump. Well, that one. Yeah. Now, on that angle, I can see where it was a block, but the first two bumps, you got to you got to you got to flop on the second bump. Let somebody elbow your sternum like that 17 times. You’re going to need a inhaler. Nice with the Oh, it was so close. Chop was almost finishing. Yep. Oh, making something happen. Just being physical. [Music] Drew the foul. Nelly Jr. Joseph gets called. That’s his second foul. Is he going to call his own play right here? Chandler top of the key, swings it back. Samuels Jr. loses his defender. Good move. Oh, under the rim finishes. Move. One thing about these Houston Rockets kids, they are physical. They are physical. Look at this. Pump fake up. Get off me. Then finish him through two cuz JJ doesn’t want to foul. That was pretty. That’s a great move. Physical move. Samuels Jr. as I mentioned earlier from Villanovavva. Got some time though with the Vipers, so he’s got some G-League experience. Yeah. [Music] Wow. Finger roll down the lane. Blocking call. Good try. Yeah, just a little late, but again, great screen from JJ. Gets the ball, takes one little dribble, goes in there for the and one. And JJ is uh Joseph Jr. Nelly Jr. Joseph. Yeah. Yeah. I’m call mama called JJ. Okay. I’m not privy to that. No, neither am I. I’m just making it up. You got to have fun at summer. Hey, listen. If not here, then when good ball movement. Oh, almost with the swing. [Applause] Offensive rebounding has really been a story for the the Rockets. Well, when you can’t shoot, you know they’re not going there. So, when somebody shoots, you just got to offensive rebound. Good cut. That’s a good cut and a good pass. Toppin with the attempt again. He gets to the rim, that’s for sure. His slashing, whether it’s driving, slashing, he just is always moving. And that movement is needed because again, you’re not going to be able to play with the ball if you’re trying to find a a fit for this team, the Hawks or the the the Rockets. [Music] get one action. Now he has to for three. That’s just great defense from Houston. This is pushing them way out. Pushing them way out. They’re not really running any plays. They’re just dribbling, setting okay screens. Look at this swing swing. Attack deck. Close out. Extra pass. Extra pass. Look at this ball movement by the Rockets resulting in a wide open three. But you see the ball finds energy and the Rockets have been shooting threes well and he hesitated about that. That’s a great shot. Largest lead so far for the Rockets. All time. Yeah, I don’t play one too. Got to reorganize, get things situated. We’ll be back for the end of the first half. Sex RX by HIMS is a range of dailyame [Applause] [Music] we’re not alone [Music] on heart victory calling it’s in our bones it’s in our bones [Music] Sweat is dripping. Breath is fire. Push the limit. Climb up higher. Every step we charge, we chase. We’re here to claim. We’re the thunder. We’re the flame. [Music] NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas. Houston Rockets trying to pull away. We’ve been waiting for someone to create some separation chaming and they’ve done that now as the half is winding down. Yeah. And they’ve done it on the defensive end, right? They they’ve not uh hung their hat on shooting good from the three-point line. They have been extremely physical. They have been attacking the rack, but defensively they have put a security blanket on the Atlanta Hawks. They’re starting their They’re starting their offense up by where we’re announcing. Yes. Uh the Hawks had to take a timeout, regroup, and say, “Stop getting stop getting beat up like that. We got to fight back a little bit.” Be very interested to see what the Hawks do offensively. They’ve got to figure out how to go vertical north south. Wide open three is no good. But the offensive rebound gives him another attempt. Bucking to Tophin trying to create off the dribble from the top. He holds it up high and finishes high. That’s a good That’s a pro move. That’s a pro move. You want to see him at the end of shot clock. You’re the best guy out here, the best guy on your team. He needs you to make a play when other things aren’t working. To top 12 points already. Oh wow. Houston trying to get things whipped around on the offensive end. Arms attacks and the foul. Some men out here. The the ability to catch that on the run. Take this bump midair and finish with the and one. Adon’s arms. Did you see he brought the ball down low? Yeah. It’s athleticism. It is. I know. It’s just I’m I’m used to talking about it. I lived it. Oh, did you? Sort of. Like one year. Trying to refresh. Can you refresh my No, I can’t. You got to go get VHS tape for my first couple years in the league. Get my highlights out. Oh my goodness. See if Adonis Arms can complete the three-point play. And he does. I’m looking around and there is a noticeable difference of like not the smartest foul in the world, but hey, Um, these two teams, well, let me just talk about the Rockets. These are older guys. These are guys that have been in the G- League, have maybe, you know, have been overseas, have had different opportunities. These are men looking and and that know who they are, know how to play basketball professionally, making, as they get old, making plays to fit in this Houston Rockets roster. Yeah, you’re right. Yeah. I mean, I’m scrolling through my my notes here and and you’re right, there’s only a couple from this class. Yep. The basket will count. Uruch, but then you look at Atlanta and obviously they trend a little bit, just a little bit younger because they’re rebuilding who they are. And obviously they they’ve made some great moves this this draft or this summer, but they’re not on championship watch like the Rockets are, right? And more than a handful of players from this class. Oh, the dunk attempts no good in transition. N Oh, they called him out, but it was great hustle. Great hustle. It was so He almost had it. Whistle. Kevin Chandler almost saved it. Look at this on the steel. Caught a flat tire. No, he’s regretting that. It’s okay. He’ll get another one. Let’s talk about the top the for the defense. The defense. Look at this. Almost got another one. Finds Uric on the baseline. Turn around. Onelegged again. That’s all right. That’s a That’s a tough shot. But look at They don’t hang their They don’t hang their head. They get out, push the ball, run. And now he Uhoh. Toppin. I think they’re hitting the jibs. Well, we got we got a timeout, but he’s bent over. Yeah, we’ll find out what happened. Yeah, we’ll be right back. Hims was a fantastic fight. [Music] Let’s take another look at this play. Remember, it’s topping. He’s got the ball. Uhoh. Yeah, that’s whenever it’s a no contact injury. Yeah, it’s never a good sign. You can see he’s grabbing and I thought he had got hit. Yeah, now he’s leaving. But again, I had to me personally, I had seen enough. Yes, he wasn’t going to play in a second. If if I was Atlanta, I’ve seen enough to say, you know what, you should get a roster spot. You should get a two-way stop. I I really like the way he was playing without the ball, his energy, um defensively, you know, offensive rebounds, doing those type of things. But yeah, now I’m like, well, hopefully he’s all good. Yeah, that’s unfortunate. I remember last season he was on a two-way deal with the Hawks. Yeah. So, really trying to earn a spot. He had a good showing from what we saw in this first half. You know what I’m saying? On to the next. Buffkin to Newell. Five on the shot clock. Uruchic. That shot’s no good. Yeah. New he going to have to get some icy hop for her shoulders. He got to shoot all the balls. Trying to get the last bucket here. Wow. A launch goes in right before the buzzer. Malik Wilson with the jumper. Houston is up 5955 at the half. Absolutely pure. Let’s take another look at that. Oh, and I think they may take a look at it, Channing. Yeah, look at this. Great defense from Atlanta. Great defense. Fade away over two people. Yuck. Straight buzz. I mean, and it that’s the best kind of buzzer beater. Feels good. Comes it lands right as the buzzer sounds. Yep. All right, it’s halftime, ladies and gentlemen. Stick around, though. We have interesting things to show you. We’ll be back. Hims was a fantastic find. from him, but he can’t corral the basketball. Nice find. There’s Shannon with the finish. Knicks who came up through G-League Ignite and is I told you we had some interesting things to share with you at halftime. We’re in Vegas. Houston’s up 59 to 55 over the Atlanta Hawks. It’s halftime. Stick with us. We’ll be back with more. Through hymns, hundreds of thousands of guys are finding doctor trusted treatment for their ED. In fact, we’ll show you one. [Music] Hey. [Music] Hey. Hey. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] [Music] Time score 55- 59. Rockets are up. We’re going to start the third quarter soon, but let’s take a look and see what happened to Jacob Toppen in the first half. Very aggressive in the paint. Lots of action going to the rim. And then here is where he pulled up short. You can see he’s hopping on the one leg. He ended up leaving the court before the half was over. He’s got 12 points so far. And as we start action, let’s check in with Dennis Scott for more on Top End. Yeah, guys, you see him stretching out right there underneath the basket. I walked over, he gave the thumbs up, asked the trainer, is he okay? He said he’s one of those tough kids that wants to play. So, he’s going to try to play the second half. All right. Thank you so much, Dennis. I mean, that’s great news, right? that he’s not injured to the point where he cannot return to action, but I know that you are wondering why risk it. Uh I just don’t know the extent of the injury. But to me, you know, obviously he wants to play. He’s he’s uh been on a two-way, wants to get one of them real roster spots. Um really proven himself not only to the Hawks, but to other teams. So, I understand. But also, if you’re doing your job as a scout or a GM and you have 12 points in 12 minutes the way that he does. Yeah. You know, if if everyone’s a dog here, certain people are looking for wolves and he looks like a wolf. That’s good. Right. You know, you look at uh Dante played he played three minutes. I could tell you two seconds. Yeah. Twist ankle or not? Give me a give me that dude. Right. I know he looks different. He’s Now, can we work on things? Absolutely. Should you want to take advantage of this opportunity? Absolutely. But at just what cost, right? Is this going to cost you three weeks in the summer of development? Um, so you got to take all those things, but you appreciate his toughness um and him wanting to play. Was that the play? Oh, not sure. I hope not. No, no. I mean, it could be. Maybe. I just don’t know coach that ever wants to play for like no pass shoot a contested three to start the half and they do the same thing. Rockets in transition. Good. Good way to play with your head up arms. Largest lead of the game for the Rockets. Yeah, Rockets just being patient. Uh taking advantage of of ball movement. Toppin with a skip pass to Yurich. These are just young mistakes. You know, these are young mistakes. Everybody in this every game. Got to play with your head up. Find the next guy. Make the right pass. That was a ninth turnover for the Hawks. Alioop over the top. Matthews finishes. Man, almost missed it. Didn’t really have it. Dunked it with his forarms. Something to be said for that. Yeah. Yeah. Good curl. Uritic. It’s no good. But Newell is there for the offensive rebound. Draws the foul. You love to see it. Young guy getting in there, getting involved. Look at this alleyoop again right here. Sees the guy stepping up. Weakside defender. New young guy mistake. Gets back cut for an alleyoop dunk. Cameron Matthews finishes that dunk. He signed an Exhibit 10 contract in June, so he certainly is trying to make a name for himself. I think in all actuality, everybody here right now who’s playing has to make a name for themselves somehow, right? It’s like even new, okay? He’s trying to figure out what can the coaches expect from me and what can I improve on here, right? Is it my shot selection? Is it my decision making? Is it offensive rebounding? Is it free throws? What is it? And then you take these next months and work on that before you go to training camp. Cuz remember, these are college, secondyear guys, two-way guys. These aren’t true and tried tried and true NBA players, right? Like, so there’s another level to There’s about five more levels. If you’re on Houston, there about five more levels, buddy. You going have to go down there with KD in them. Yeah, you I don’t know what what scattering you going to use to guard that. Wilson fires away, knocks it down. Also couldn’t stop the puppy. Buffin off the dribble. The kick out is intercepted. Arms on the run. Tries to flip it up to finish but gets fouled. Keith Wilson got bouncy. He does. He got bouncy bounce. Malik Wilson. When that ball went off the rim, I said there’s no way that dude is getting that. Let’s look at it again. Look at this. Just being aggressive. Arms getting in there getting fouled. It was high off the rim, too. You’re right. Bucket didn’t count, but it looked good. That’s all right. Put that on here. Nobody knows what counts. Arms makes the first one. Donis Arms went to Texas Tech. undrafted in the 2022 class. Gets his own rebound. Kicks it out. Gets the assist. Kennedy Chandler knocks it down. 110 run to start the half again. Just the Rockets playing good basketball. Look at this. Defensively can move. Oh. Newell with the attempt. It’s no good. Arms rebound. Eyes up. Rockets running. Oh, OAR tried to no look. Tried to get fancy. Maybe should have looked at it a little bit. You would have see he wasn’t open. If you close your eyes, you can’t see. Confucious. Rockets up 70 to 55. Houston using their defense to definitely create some easier offense. Yeah. Oh, we have a play here. Look. Oh, the Rockets are going to run a play, right? That’s the difference. If you watch, the Rockets don’t overdri. And it’s just again you understanding your role, making the right play when it’s necessary. No, that’s offensive. No, good calling. Soon as I saw that call it on Chandler, his second foul. Oh, that was very obvious. Uruch bringing the ball up. Look, 15 14. Have we started our offense yet? McVey post up kick out. Look at this defense. Oh, Newell with the offensive rebound and draws the foul. But Newell is making talented play. He’s a talented kid. He’s making talented plays, but in all actuality, that’s why you’re down 15 points, right? Like New’s in there. Obviously, they they go for the block. He comes in through the weak side. You give credit to to Newell for getting in there, but Atlanta can’t run an offense. Like the ball’s not going side to side. Come on, man. First free throw missed. He says my bad. I mean, I mean, my bads. I need you to my my not mad. Make a free throw. There we go. Three for six from the free throw line. They’ll be in the gym later tonight shooting free throws. Chandler probing. all the way around. Stevens was like, “Nope, that’s not a good possession. It’s not a good possession.” I think sometimes, you know, kids kids, young guys are so used to being asked to do so much in the league. Sometimes getting off the ball and getting it back allows the defense to reset or allow the offense to reset. That’s [Applause] foul on board. There are some NFL teams chomping at the pitch to get Austin board. The way he be what? Hey, I’m a Cardinal fan. We can use you, brother. Oh, man. Here we go. Using the screen, gets all the way to the rim, draws the foul. That was on Wilson. [Music] His sixth foul. I know you like to keep track of that cuz if this were a regular season NBA game, he’d be out. Oh, yeah. He’d be out. But Summerland, we allow for more. The Channing Fal. Coming up next, Charlotte versus Dallas at 6:30 p.m. Eastern right here on NBA TV. And then tonight on ESPNU, three more games. You cannot get enough of NBA Summerloop. No, I don’t want to leave, but I got to go. Houston up 70- 57 here in the third with the handoff. Arms lets it go. No good. Uruch with the rebound. Starts the offense himself. Step back off the back. That’s not a good possession. Another opportunity here. Flaggler gets it, finds Stevens who kicks it over off the rim for Newark. No, I would. Not quality possessions. No, I wouldn’t. You just bring the ball up and just decide to go one-on-one and shoot it. I just don’t It’s not realistic. You know, it’s tough because you’re trying to trust. But hey, that’s what we’re here at Summer League. Watch film. They’ll learn. They’ll learn. Here we go. More basketball after this. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] knocking down the three and getting to the bucket. And here is Adonis Arm. doing a great job attacking the rack, being aggressive, finishing. I think he’s led about three or four and ones today. Uh really just continuing to put pressure on the interior defense um of Atlanta and putting pressure on each individual player that’s trying to guard him. Kennedy Chandler has 17 points, four assists. Adonis Arms with 12.6 assists. [Music] Atlanta will try again. Veritic bringing the ball up [Music] off the leg. They’re going to call kick ball. Another opportunity for Atlanta. See if they can get something going on the offense. Yeah, I think they’re just trying to figure out who’s going to be their playmaker, who’s going to be see be their decision maker, who can handle this Rockets stifling defense. Seems to be playing with the dribble. Oh, they had a shot clock situation. Wow, way to throw a grenade. Good lord. No, Flagler had no choice but to launch it. Matthew kick out. Look at the ball movement. That’s a great pass. I mean, that’s a great shot. I’ll take that all day. Five people touched that. Flaggler in the paint. No good. Brown almost had the rebound. [Music] It is interesting to see the different philosophies. I’m down there. There’s no way that they’re coaching like, “Hey guys, don’t pass it. Just go oneonone and don’t play real basketball.” Like it’s to me it’s more that’s not how you’re going to fit out. People are going to say, “Okay, I I get it.” Like how do you the the players that are on two ways, the players that are, you know, get roster spots are the players that play real basketball. That’s a that’s a good shot within the offense, right? That’s a play. Can you play real basketball? You trust guys regardless of Nobody’s looking at how many points you average really unless they ask you to do that. And if they ask you to do that like Koopa flag, then you’re done. Yep. Right. So if they’re asking you to do something new and you’re really good at it. Okay, Chandler. Or if you’re trying to showcase that you’re going to do that, then you better be real dang good at that, right? You better fill it up. Fill it up. 25 on two. Flaggler gets rejected. How many passes was that underneath Chandler with the reverse goes in. My dogs he he is a bucket getter. Look at this right here. Just using his quickness. hits that baseline and one with the sweep reverse right the angle 19 points for Kennedy Chandler but look three for six from behind the arc 7 for 15 from the field he’s efficient totally he’s efficient and and you know what when we go to look at film for who he is he can say you know what I had three or four mistakes over dribbled here that that’s fine or like you know the ball just came out the other time look where he’s picking up he’s been the catalyst for his defense at the top like doing really good. Look at the stop. Exactly. Look at these plays. Oh, look. Brown. Brown’s trying. He’s trying. And he finishes. Alissa, just just cuz you may not like the ingredients don’t mean the plate ain’t going to be good. You like that one? I just made it up. That’s pretty good. Okay. See, look at this. The ball gets passed twice. You make shots, right? Cuz you’re open now. Well, not only you’re open, you feel involved. You feel like you’re playing. You’re not just doing cardio. Daniels Jr. with the attempt. Brown gets the rebound. Oh. Yeah. [Music] 7562 is the score. Rockets are up. Got some substitutions here. Arms back in for the Rockets. Triple handoff. Good defense. Bin trying to shake him but can’t. Tries to go underneath. Tough shot. Tough shot. Gets it to fall. But think of how hard he has to work. And then obviously they’re kind of chipping away here. Only down 11. Good cut. Turnover. Push it. White bringing the ball up. [Applause] 10 on the shot clock. Buffkin lets it go. Nails it. Yeah. Ball finds energy in and out. Ball finds energy. Being patient. Now you see Atlanta starting to play with a little bit more intention, a little bit more unselfishness. Starting to come back on that over the top now. Had to let that go. No good. Here we go. 8 Buffin run. Hawks bringing it back. nails the three-pointer. We’ll be back with more third quarter action. Hims was a fantastic find. Hims makes me feel prepared and comfortable for dating. Him makes me feel confident. I went to hs.com and there was a lot of different options to fit my lifestyle. I was shocked at actually how affordable it was going to be. [Music] [Music] [Music] still playing Jeff Turner and Duncan Robinson. Dunkeys. Yes. Thought he’s from New Hampshire. Maine. Oh, same thing. Yeah, I know. I was going to say you West Coasters think the whole new the Northeast is one state. Yeah, basically. NR Dennis Scott. Dennis, you played with Jeff, right? One of my vets, Shannon, when come into the NBA. Oh, boy. He’s one of those guys taught you how to do the right things. Back in 1947. And you’re talking way over here. Scott Sky as well. Turning with my with my vest. You had some good ones, 3D. Yes. Oh, good pass. Yeah, that’s great drop off. Great pass. But see the Atlanta Hawks are now moving. The ball is moving. Bodies are moving. Makes you so much harder to guard. 100 run by the way. Wow, that’s tough. Well, there it goes. On the Hawks, you just keep chipping away. Less than a minute to go in the third. Muffin pulling. Wow. Over on the board. That’s where you go. I don’t know about that one. Then you go, he made it. Okay, listen. If you feeling that way, let’s let’s get him a play. 18 points. He Man, listen. You start sizing guys up like this, you pushing off the screen. Here we go. I got the match I want. Lefty pure from three. Okay, we have some grabbing right right out in front of everybody. Lord have mercy. Normally that kind of grabbing happens in the lane. You can hide it. Not out here. In or in the bunks. [Music] Adonis arms will be shooting. Hey, we’ve got a fivepoint gate. Yeah. 42 seconds left in this third quarter. Arms makes the first free throw. 7872 Rockets up. Second one is good. To your point, Arms has some experience. All right, let’s see. Let’s see what Buffin’s going to do. Uses the screen. And now you are a bucket getter. And pulls it again. Misses this time. Arms able to hold on to it. Finds Osapore on the break. And he converts. Arms with the old yank and pull. Didn’t get away with it. Nope. Nope. This is a great kick. Big guys trying to play two. Nope. I think who was that? Bluffin almost got it and he finished. Also has been impactful today. He has been very active in the paint. Yeah. Now he gets a rest and probably get some run in the fourth field. Oh, we look tired. No fouls to give here. Well, obviously they had 62 of them. United. How much more do you want me to get? down on the shot clock. A lot of fun out there at the point guard position in summer league. How tough is it to run the show? Uh, you know, as a point guard is like a quarterback, so I’m just trying to be vocal, get everybody in their positions and, you know, just run the court, run fast pace. Being a point guard also, when do you look to look for your shot, but make sure you get everyone else involved as well. Uh, you know, just get in the paint. I feel like that helps me to find out whether my shots there or find uh a low man kicking out to my teams in the corner on the wing for the three-pointer. So, just keep on pushing the pace. I feel like we’re doing a good job of that. Keep doing what you do. Yes, sir. Thank you. Thank you, Dennis. Javin Johnson knocked down a three for the Hawks to start things off trying to close the gap. Buffkin probing, loses it. So, this is where I think the Hawks have come to the point where they’re like, “All right, Buffin, we want to see if you can go get us a bucket every single time.” as he pass the ball over right there. But they’re running plays for him. They are going for that steal. David Johnson with the miss. McVey with the make. Okay. Well, he was wide open for a free throw line and a jumper. I mean, probably the most open that the Hawks have been all night. But it’s a six-point game. I know. Just when you think the Rockets are pulling away, Atlanta closes the gap. Somebody rest. Ozabore sets that screen. Wilson with the head. Great job, Johnson. Johnson with the block. Buffkin finds Johnson. Johnson puts it on the floor, kicks it out to Buffkin, and almost comes over. I got Channing puts the arm out way too late. Hey, I caught Jared Greenberg yesterday position. That’s why. Yeah. So, this was more of a deflection position for you. Yeah. Not really comfortable, I’m sure. For need to hit the other half of this red ball for that. Six-point game. You know what’s a crazy stat that I just saw? What? And you can see it, but just act like you don’t. Okay. The Rockets have 17 fast break points. What? And the Hawks have none. I know. That is very telling. Very telling of just defensive stops, getting out of running, playing with the pass. The Hawks again just playing through the screen and roll. A lot of They’re actually moving right here. Good. Look at this. Another steal. Oh, another turnover. White gets it and puts it in. And I heard that, too. Yeah, I heard that from We got on the headset. There we go. Little pressure from the A little fiery on defense. Wilson kicks it to Level. He drops it off. Back to Wilson down low. Four on the shot clock. He saved that one cuz usually throwing it to the smallest dude right underneath the hoop is not the move. Not a good answer. Here you go. 11 points. Oh, he turned his head. Oh, and turned it over. Turned that over. Look at smiling. Okay, here it is. Got him. That was surprising. Yep. Oh, he’s got something for the real. Chandler’s handles are semi crazy. Oh, he got the roll for the pride. The hav roll. Yeah, the hob. He calculated, huh? He did. Oh, okay. Now we playing. Yes. That’s David Johnson. Hey, man. He’s figuring out a way. Well, the problem is you’re playing him on a drop of an ice and he’s so quick, right? Junior has to be up to touch with that other big man because of his quickness. Now he’s looking at now he’s searching for you. Junior then hopping around. Oh, should have dunked that, but great extra pass. Wilson wide open. Can’t get it to fall. Bringing it up behind the back. Kicks it out. Three is good for Jack McVy. Hawks are playing. They’re gaining on them. It’s a four-point game now. 530 to go. See the the Rockets now are are playing slower. We got some Tats on the other side. No pass shot. And these where these swings come from. It’s hard to play great basketball. Look at that pass. You know his favorite rapper is Trick Daddy. See right here attacking this. Nobody wants to roll to the rim. Playing oneonone. Look at everyone standing on the Rockets. This is not how they played now. We’re making extra passes. 4 seconds. They had to throw it up because this is great defense from the Hawks. Great defense in the last and you can see even the bench is up. Yep. This shot by McVey in Mcains. I like that. You see what I did there? AI is Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] blue. [Music] [Music] [Music] misses and okay in transition Johnson got to get back. Great job Johnson getting out and running. But the outlet pass. That pass is good. You’re playing with your head up. Dawson again, he is having a second half. He is really having a second half. And these are things where you’re watching from the bench. You’re like, man, when when am I going to get my time? You continue playing good basketball right here, taking the body, knowing they want to grab the arm, getting it out of there, and blocking the shot. Now, interesting fact. Buffin just got in the game. He has nine turnovers. But is he? I know. But this is winning time. So all that don’t matter if you start making the right plays, you start playing unselfishly. Three minutes to go. Definitely did not call a switch on that. But again, these are opportunities where you could look. It’s like, where can I improve right here? They need to move the ball. Not one-on-one stuff. See, even the coach said move it. There we go. Move it side to side. Screen roll it. Great job. Nice dump inside. And then look who it is again. Jason Johnson, but he couldn’t knock it down. Turned it over. Yeah, those are some C fry hops right there. That’s the first foul of the fourth quarter by either side. I have my prayers are answered. We got us a ball game. This is great. Love slots? The Drab Kings Casino’s got you covered. Come to papa newborn. [Music] [Music] Every [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Just some court maintenance taking care of y slippery spots. All guys are doing a great job. They’re doing a great job. Buffkin at the free throw line. He’ll shoot two. There they go. Good job, fellas. 9598 216 to go. Close. Now, this is when it gets fun. This is when we see who’s going to make the unselfish play. Who’s going to still pick up full court? Cause something to happen defensively. Like you said earlier, winning plays. Winning plays. This is one that’s on display 100%. This is also great film for the young guys. Uh just to see how people play. You [Music] falling. [Music] Six foul. We had a nice drought going this quarter. But it’s going to get it’s going to get bad. Yeah, it will be. That’s all right. It’s part of clock management. Yeah. Yeah. No layups, clock management. Um you know, guys being overly aggressive. Those type of things are going to happen right now. Makes the first one. 99 96 Second one no good. Johnson there with the rebound. That guy Johnson has been making winning plays. Winning plays this second half just with his energy. He’s being in the right spot. Great knows for the ball. He’s also see he doesn’t he doesn’t have the opportunity. He gets it back. Buffkin misses. having a tough game. I know he has 18, but there are just some opportunities that he’s going to be like, “Dang, I wish I would have made that. I wish I wouldn’t have turned that ball on, you know.” But it happens. No, you’re right. It happens. That turnover number is stark. But they probably are asking, I’m just assuming they’re asking him to do a little bit more than what he’s comfortable doing. And so he’s trying to find reads. He may be in a different position on the court, but this is all good. It’s all fulfill. So yes, for the purpose of the game, it doesn’t look that good, but for the purpose of the development, it’s great. Excellent point. Buffkin finds New Kicks it out right away to the corner. Newell gets the offensive rebound. With the baseline drive, finds Newell in the corner. Exactly. Bottom of the net. Exactly. He is playing basketball right now. I appreciate that. He’s making quick decisions, shooting with confidence, getting He didn’t just stand when they got the offensive rebate. kicked back to a three point for a three-pointer. And now it’s tied at 99 with less than a minute to go. Channing, now what do you go to here? What is the move you go to? [Music] Catch that. Oh, turn over. Dangerous. Newell on the break. Step through. Finish. I want to see that from your best player. Remember how they had zero turnovers or zero fast break points? Zero fast break points. Right. I think they’re up to six now. Pops up by two. 14 on the shot clock. Long three. Oh wow. Here we go. From deep. This is where you make a move for yourself. Adonis Arms. Plenty of time on the shot clock. Still lets it go. Hey, you take your shot when you take your shot and you let everybody else figure out the logistics. This is a great drive and kick. We practice that every day in practice. And he lined it up. Absolute pure right here. Kicks it back out. But again, he didn’t stay. Remember, he drove, he got the offensive rebound, kicked back out, and then got out. And then right here, Newell being patient, finishing with the left over. Rockets up 102, 101 with that deep three that Adonis Arms knocked down. 29.3 seconds left. So there will be another possession the entire shot clock. But you know people say, “Oh, you should have waited.” But if you got the shot that you’re going to take, regardless if it’s 29, 32, or two, you got to shoot that thing. We’re going to take another look at that deep three. This is Adonis Arms. Look at the shot clock. 15 seconds left on the shot clock. Hey, he got the matchup he wanted. Got to spot he wanted. late contest, finished it. He’s been having a very solid game. More than a solid game actually. Um it really just feels comfortable in that position. 22 points, seven assists, two for seven from behind the arc, which is fine. Nothing matter. At least stats don’t matter when it’s winning time. You think Kobe cared if he was one for 21 at the end of the game? Nope. Nope. You think Kyrie cared? You think Braun Jordan? Nope. This is winning time. One-point game. Okay. What do the Hawks do here? Oo, that’s a They started finding some success this quarter. Yeah, with more ball movement, more body movement. Right. Ball movement. Body movement. I personally would like to get something going downhill earlier rather than later. They got to get the ball in. Uh-oh. Near turnover. turnover. Very slight differential almost two seconds between the shot clock and the game clock. You can see right now that it’s stopped. 2.2 second differential one-point game. You got to execute on those sideline out of bounds. I’ve seen that happen a lot this summer league guys just not being able to get open. Um, we used to practice that so much. You have to getting just getting up. Well, I don’t know if people do it anymore. The good teams do. The well coached teams do. Well coached teams do. Arms knocks it down. Boy, he’s having an end of the game. This where you really look and and you know everyone’s going to have recessive bias but you’re going to be like dude look at his stats. Look what he’s done. And at the end of the game he’s taken over and made winning plays for his team. Right. Two-point game. If he knocks this one down, it’ll be a three-point game. 16.2 seconds left. Channing. So a three bucket will tie it. Time out. Time out. Atlanta got to draw up something good. You got to get the ball in. You got to at least run a play and get a good shot on. Okay. Okay. And the Rockets have a foul to give. So, we’ll see how they play that out. Look where he catches this. Catches this almost out of bounds doing a pirouette and then throws it into defense. Again, the Rockets defense making plays for them uh when they need it. Houston has two timeouts and one foul to give. So, they’ve got some options here, but what do the Hawks look for? What are they trying to get? What’s the ideal shot here? I think you want to create a movement. I think you either, you know, Buffkin obviously is not afraid to shoot that ball. I’m really go to New and and say, “Hey, here we go. Make a play um through some movement, even if it’s just a little, you know, threeman weave or whatnot.” not really been a fan of their screen and roll actions today and their decision- making, but you know, at the end of the day, I’m looking at my player saying, “Where do you want to where do you want it? And then how are you going to make the best shot?” Are you looking for a three-pointer or a quick bucket to and then stop the clock with a foul? Again, I’m looking for the quickest bucket possible. So, maybe a little back action or back screen action. Uh maybe they mess up. Now, we get a a small on a big. You can shoot it. You get the offensive rebound, but you, you know, clock is not on your side right now. So, you want something at the rim quick. Quick and if not quick, then best available. And then anything less than five, shoot that three. [Music] All right. This is this is winning time. Literally, this is time to execute. [Music] They have scorers out there, obviously. with a foul to give. Let’s remember that. Yep. You think they run this sort of down screen and then another back screen? Yep. That’s what I think. Yeah. Down screen. Knew it was open. They just don’t told you. Give it to Buffy. Foul right away. 14.8 seconds. [Music] So maybe that was the uh dummy play. Yeah, that Yeah, cuz he caught it way out. Yeah, he knew he was going to get foul, but you’re, you know, we could say that was a little too quick of a foul, but these guys are learning little details. So, now they’re running a different play. Y Oh, he’s open. Okay. Well, foul. Oh my. A foul. Oh, defense never foul the shooter. That was a bubble. Hold on. Take a look at this. So, right here, you don’t need to panic. There’s 10 seconds left in the game. You’re down three. You jump and foul a three-point shooter with 10 seconds to go in the game. Cardinal. If he had made that, you still have the ball. Just 10 seconds to go. Right. That’s correct. Nerves. That is Yes. You know. Yes. and youthful exuberance. Yes, we can mark it down for all of those things. Time, score, possession. You got to know where you are. Yeah, [Applause] makes the first one. You ain’t ready for that one. All right, coach. Don’t beg for it, son. [Music] Two-point game. [Applause] He’s good now. Point game. Yeah, he’s good now. Now, either way, there’s a lot that could happen here, right? If he misses the free throw, then the offensive rebound for the putback, defensive rebound out. The way these kids are, I don’t know what’s going to happen. This is anything cuz usually in NBA game there’s like two with these guys. You don’t know what might happen. They might throw it off the backboard. Tie ball game and we have a time out. Yes, they’ve got to sort through this. Execute. I wouldn’t be surprised now. Rockets have they started off this game doing a great job on the offensive end with execution. They kind of got away from it a little bit. They’re ching now. What is the plan? What do they have to do here? So, right now, you got to look at arms. You got to get him in the opportunity or you got to get him. I think he likes that matchup versus the younger Newell. Uh try to get that matchup in a spot that he likes. Um Chandler’s also in action. If they send a double or he drives and kicks, um I trust Chandler’s decision-m then give him the space to operate. I think you go with arms right now. Um and Chandler has that second option. This is a good test too for the Atlanta Hawks defense because they started to pick it up defensively. That’s how they got back in this game obviously. So now this is a challenge for them to get a stop for sure. They’re going to have to communicate and and execute. Uh and the biggest thing is you got to understand who’s switching over who. Yes. Which matchups are good? Are we switching one through five? Are we switching one through four? Uh, all those things matter and and you got to trust your teammate and not overhelp, especially not on mid-ranges or threes. Kennedy Chandler, will they go to him? I think right now Arms is a guy, but I’m not mad if Chandler gets the ball. I trust both of those guys. They’ve been making great plays all game. Then after that, just get a shot up. Get a get a good shot up. Um, but we trust you. That’s what I would tell as a coach. I trust you. here’s what we want to do, but at the end of the day, go get me a bucket and let’s win this game. And here’s the thing, Chandler with 22 points also has six assists. And Arms with 24 points has seven assists. So, they’re making great decisions all game. You can see Chandler at the top of the key. He gets the ball. Oh, wow. Okay. No, no, no. I told you. And here comes Arms. Oh, they almost denied him, but he was open for a second. Led for three. [Applause] Not sure. It was a bad miss. And we’ve got free basketball. The first overtime of Las Vegas
