🚨MAJOR Warriors Trade REPORT: NEW Team Interested In Jonathan Kuminga Trade per NBA Insider
It seems to me like Dub Nation is divided on whether or not Jonathan Kaminga should return back to the Golden State Warriors next season. So before we get into the latest reports, and these are big ones today, let me know in the comments section. Should Golden State resign Kaminga in free agency? Yes or no in the comments section below. [Music] What’s going on, Dub Nation? You’re watching Warriors Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Tyler Smith and we have a major report surrounding Jonathan Kaminga’s free agency saga and what could materialize into a potential trade this off seasonason as all reports have signaled that it’s the most likely outcome that Kaminga resigns with Golden State. But NBA insider Jake Fischer has given us a little bit of an update as to where we stand right now with JK. Before we get into the new quote about a new team being interested in trading for Kaminga, let’s set the stage a little bit with what he told us previously. He said that Jonathan Kaminga and Aaron Turner, his agent, met with Golden State representatives and officials at Vegas Summer League early on. So, this is like talking like this is the last week that this happened. And that is, you know, kind of troubling that we really haven’t made much progress up to this point. And likely it’s because that Jonathan Kaminga is looking for a fat payday. $25 million a year in average annual salary. And what’s super funny to me now is the fact that Jonathan Kaminga turned down $25 million a year before last season started and now he’s looking for it after not really increasing his value over the 24-25 campaign. The Warriors on the other hand on the flip side are also kind of being stubborn themselves. They want a first round pick in any sign and trade package. I’m not so sure that I would be get willing to give away a first round pick if I was a rival NBA team for Kaminga. It just doesn’t show me enough to this point. Um, you’re really banking on potential there and I’m not so sure I’d be willing to deal away. Definitely an unprotected first at this point. Now, the teams that have been interested so far in a Kaminga trade, at least most closely linked are the Sacramento Kings, the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat. Now, the Miami Heat, they go out and trade for Norman Powell. So, you can kind of take them out of the running. The Bulls, they come and make a couple of moves themselves that kind of clog things up for Kaminga. talking like drafting Noah Sen and trading for Isa Goro like not much room for coming to blossom and thrive in Chicago either. So those you know all that interest is quieted down. Sacramento that’s the only team that we’ve heard has really realistically made a trade offer to this point of Devin Carter Daario Sarich former Warrior and two second round picks and the Warriors said that that was a buy low offer. Now we get to today and a new team is interested in making a Jonathan Kaminga trade per Fiser. Now, before we get into that big quote, this is why you subscribe to the channel because these Jake Fish Fisher quotes do not come for free. They are behind a payw wall over at the Stein Line Substack. That’s 10 bucks a month. Here at Warriors Today, we bring you those those tidbits 100% free all year long. The new team that is interested in the Jonathan Kaminga sweep stakes or lack thereof is the Phoenix Suns. He says sources say Phoenix. Wow. Meanwhile, is the latest team to express exploratory interest in a Kaminga sign and trade. Challenging as it would be for the Suns to make such a deal happen. Fresh off completing a buyout with Bradley Beal this week, enabling the Suns to wave and stretch the hefty contract possessed by the three-time NBA All-Star guard, they have contacted both Kaminga’s representation and the Warriors to make their fondness of the bounty swingman known. The Suns, to be clear, do not possess appear to possess the sort of draft capital or players that Golden State is believed to be seeking in exchange for Kaminga. Yet, he certainly did come up in trade talks between the teams during the season. And if we all remember back to the Kevin Durant trade saga right before the deadline, Golden State obviously went and made the deal for Butler instead because Durant kind of said no to it all going down. And you know, kind when I read this off the rip, the most important kind of piece of that quote is the last part of it talking about the fact that Phoenix doesn’t really have the assets that would really entice Golden State to make a deal at this point. So, I don’t really think a straightup Golden State and Phoenix one for one trade is all that likely at this point. If you look at what the Suns have on their books right now, there isn’t a ton that I’m in love with, especially when you consider what Phoenix would be willing to give away out of this crop. You got Royce O’Neal, nice 3 and D wing, $10 million. And I mean, he probably would be the highlight of any trade package at this point if they’re going to give Kaminga something in the realm of $20 million or more annually. Mark Williams, I I would love in Golden State. absolutely would adore him to be the the the dub starting center next season. Make $6.2 million, but they just traded for him on draft night. Don’t think they’re willing looking to move off of him at this point, pairing him up with uh Kam Malawatch and Nick Richards they have on the books as well as that third center. They probably would be willing to deal with him or deal him to Golden State in a Kaminga signing trade. He makes $5.6 million though. You probably would have to get a little bit more salary back to Golden State uh in order to make a deal work. Ryan Dunn, their first round pick from last year. I highly doubt that they want to get rid of Ryan Dunn. He already possesses elite defensive traits and he’s getting better on the offensive end. We’re seeing him dominate in summer league right now. Oso Gdarao was a Warriors draft target I had in the second round last season. He’s shown flashes as well. Makes about $2 million. He was just a name I threw out there as a young, you know, worth taking a flyer on type of talent there. Good vision. Uh and Mini Shenon, my producer Jeremy likes to say. Uh I won’t go that far, but he’s a nice talent. I think he’s going to play for a while. I’d be I’d like getting him back in any deal, but like again, doesn’t really entice me too much to to make a deal with Phoenix. Plus, they have like no draft capital whatsoever. Like, this is one of the worst positioned teams as far as their future uh assets go. Like, they don’t have like any tradable first. I was looking through uh you know, they’re all their future draft capital and everything is either a swap or or they’re just straight up giving away. And I looked all the way down the line and 2032, I believe, is the next time they have an unprotected tradable first round pick. So, they don’t have a ton of firepower in order to make a deal happen. But I I I I can’t just say this is a total non-story because one, Fischer reported it and he’s talking to people over at summer league. And two, Poly Market actually has the Suns as the favorite to make a Jonathan trade and this happened yesterday. So, there’s clearly some conversations happening right now between all three of these sides, the Warriors, the Suns, and Kaminga’s representatives. We’ll see if a deal ends up happening, but again, this is the biggest domino that Golden State needs to fall in order to get their off seasonason kind of rolling here and make a couple of signings that they’re at least on track or around the league believed to be making. And Al Horford, DeAnthony Melton, and maybe some other marginal uh vet minimum level contracts. Now, Zack Low had said this about the whole Kanga saga that I wanted to bring up. He said, “The poststaff future looks incredibly bleak. The Kaminga transaction, whatever it is, to me is maybe the single most important franchisebuilding transaction that’s coming in the next two to three to four months in the NBA.” Now, to be fair, the know forecast as far as moves that are going to be made, like seismic moves that are going to be made throughout the NBA over the next three to four months isn’t really like that crazy. Like, we’re not seeing major trade rumors. Giannis stuff has really quieted down. The KD move is already made and it doesn’t seem like there’s been many more blockbusters on tap left this summer. The Celtics have made a bunch of their deals as well. So, like I I don’t really think that the he’s really got much competition here, but I I I understand like as far as what we’re looking at in the future of Golden State. Like Kaminga does hold a little bit of of weight here. Whether or not they resign him or trade him away, uh I I really don’t feel like Golden State though is going to get a promising return. like either no matter what the scenario is like if they get if they get a signing trade done I don’t really think that the return on that is going to be too great not only because they can take back only 50% of what Kaminga makes in the first year next season also though I don’t really think Kaminga is that good or that highly valued across the league right now because teams know that he doesn’t want to be in Golden State anymore and then on the flip side if you resign him I don’t think it’s a promising return either uh kind of ironically because he clearly didn’t fit and who knows if he’ll increase his trade value enough to where Golden State gets good value back uh down the line near the trade deadline next season. Like it just doesn’t make all that much sense to me either way uh for Golden State here, but they got to make one of these moves and they got to make one of these moves soon or some of their free agents are going to fly off the market. More from low here, he said, and I just don’t see a world where in which that transaction sets the Warriors up for a happier post future. So, he’s kind of agreeing with me here because I don’t think that’s going to be we resigned Kaminga and he’s a breakout star for us. and we’ve iterated on the channel that nobody really in the Warriors uh clubhouse thinks that that’s going to be the case. And he said, “I think it’s going to be a sign of trade in which the return is slightly underwhelming.” So, Zack Low kind of echoing all all the sentiments that I’ve made so far and the ones that I’ve been making week in and week out that we’ve been chronicling this Jonathan Kaminga saga like is not a good situation for Golden State to be and you can thank Joe Leup for that. Like, he overvalued him at the end of the day. I’m not going to speak anything more on it. You guys have heard me say my piece on Jon of the Kaminga in the past. But I I’ll leave you with this. With each passing day, it makes it more and more likely that a resigning for Kaminga back to Golden State is more likely. Now, I’m sure a lot of you guys in the comment section are ecstatic about that. But, uh, me on the other hand, I’m just not, and we can agree to disagree. Now, when the timeline of this is still very, very much up in the air. This has come in from Brett Seagull just a few hours ago. based on word at summer league, it seems like Jonathan Kamega situation will continue to drag on possibly into August. All right, awesome. The two sides have remained far apart in negotiations, including this week at summer league. It’s why we haven’t heard a peep since they met last week. And then he said rival teams believe Kaminga does not want to return. Shocker. Shocker. I mean, what is signal to you that Kamingo is dying to come back to Golden State where he’s getting dmpped and like of course he doesn’t want to come back and that makes automatically the value that Golden State’s going to get back in a trade lower for Jonathan Ka. Look, no matter what the decision is, whether you sign and trade him away or you resign him, if you’re looking at this from like the Zack Low lens and you’re talking about this like as if it’s a franchise building decision, I mean, you’re going to be disappointed because the return for the signing trade is not going to be good. And if he comes back, you’re not he’s he’s never going to be an all-star for the Golden State Warriors. I’ll tell you that guys that right now. And if you you think I’m wrong in the comments section, I I just want you to apologize when he’s off of Golden State’s team. like he will never be an all-star with the Golden State Warriors. He doesn’t fit. He doesn’t buy in. And that’s just the reality of the situation. So, you’re going to be disappointed uh of I if you think that this Jonathan Kamega move is going to seismically shift Golden State. No, I what it needs to do is make them better on the margins and help them have a more cohesive unit for next season centered around Jimmy, Steph, Draymond, and get a couple other of the other young talents on this roster to progress in their careers. What happens with Jonathan Kamea? Now, I asked you at the top of today’s show, what do we think or what would you do? Would you resign him or not? Now, predict it for me. What happens with Jonathan Kaming? Does he get resigned or does a sign and trade come to fruition this off seasonason? Let me know what you guys think. I want to hear from Dub Nation what they think ends up happening with JK. All right, before we get moving on the last little part of today’s show, I had to tell you guys about this awesome deal with our friends over at Fanatics. The Warriors playoff shirt. It was like 38 bucks and now it’s like over half off. Like, you guys got to get this. It’s it’s a commemorative 2025 playoff run shirt. I think Golden State had a really solid season this year. I know they didn’t win the finals, but I all things considered after the Butler trade, they were freaking awesome. I would want this shirt to commemorate this season. And the link is in the comments section and description of today’s video as well. Go to the second paragraph in the description box of this video. You can find that clickable link. Click on it. It’ll send you over to Fanatics. You guys can get this discounted Warriors playoff shirt today. All right. Before we get out of here, the Warriors announced their preseason schedule. I just saw this come across the timeline and I was like, you know what, I’ll share it with the fine folks of Warriors today and there’s not much diversity when it comes to the preseason and naturally they want to keep teams more geographically centered and you don’t want guys traveling too far for meaningless exhibition games. Now, the Warriors will open up the preseason on October 5th against the Los Angeles Lakers at 5:30 Pacific, October 8th against the Portland Trailblazers, 7 Pacific, the 12th against the Lakers again at 6:30 Pacific. All three of those games are in the Chase Center. Then they travel up to Portland for a 7 o’clock Pacific game on the 14th and they close things out of the preseason against the Clippers back at home at 7 o’clock Pacific on October 17th. Now look, I know the preseason’s not very exciting, but what do we what this means is that we are one step closer to the Warriors regular season schedule being announced. And I’m dying for NBA hoops to be back. If you want Warriors basketball to return, go down below and hit that thumbs up icon. IM SO DONE WITH JOE LACOB AND JK 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏿
Yes bc Jk's value isn't that high and you can trade him at the deadline
Yes keep Kuminga and to make him happy replace Kerr after next season
Yes
Only player worth thinking of trading JK for would be Jalen Green but he makes too much
I wish you realy knew your basketball.Oviosly you dont.Basketball is more than shooting 3.Where is Chase Senior.
Yes let’s keep a player who was dnp in the most important games at the end of the season and only played due to other players being injured if Steph and jimmy doesn’t get hurt JK doesn’t play so I don’t understand wtf is so confusing about if he should stay or not 😂😂😂
For a decent price why not and give Kuminga some playing time as well. So that Golden State can get some other players that can, contribute to the team this upcoming season.
He's not a star why he's asking all that money at this point Westbrook is a better player
No
****YES! Why All the Negative Swipes about Him anyway?

Trade him, I'm sick of talking about him, he had a chance to sign at 25 million per year and that was more than generous, trade him!!
