Boston Celtics TRADING Anfernee Simons? TOP 5 Anfernee Simons Trade Ideas | Celtics Rumors
[Music] Since the Boston Celtics dealt away Drew Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers and acquired Anthony Simons, even on the night of the trade breaking news, we heard that the Celtics were not married to Anthony Simons and they could potentially look to flip him down the line to potentially get closer and closer to that luxury tax line, which are still about $20 million away from. So on today’s edition of Boston Celtics today by Chad Sports, we’re going to break down the latest Anthony Simons trade rumors and go through the top five trade ideas out there from the people on the interwebs making a couple mock trades to get Boston some salary cap relief and find a new home for Anthony Simons. Let’s go into the latest report though from Embry insider Brian Winhorse because are the Celtics actively looking to trade Anthony Simons? Well, he thinks so. He says the Celtics are actively looking to trade the guy that they just traded for. And it was funny that we opened the show with a welcome post they just posted. It took him a little bit uh long to get that post up on the the Twitter even after the trade went through on July 6th. It even took him a couple days thereafter. So, it’s it’s an interesting situation on whether or not he’s actually uh being, you know, floated around on the trade market by Brad Stevens and the Celtics front office. And then we heard this recently from Jake Fiser on the Anthony Simons front. He said at a certain point, he was referencing this quote from Winhorse, could Boston look to move him? Yes. Are they actively looking to move him? I would say that they’re actively open to moving him, but I don’t think Boston is calling around trying to move Anthony Simons right now. I just think he and his representation are very aware the Celtics are not married to having him uh around this season in in green and in white, but they’d be happy and willing to do so if that’s the case. Brad Stevens has talked up Anthony Simons, you know, talking to the media and stuff early this offseason and talked about how good he can fit or how well he can fit on this roster in this Celtics play style. gets up a lot of threes. He’s a high volume shooter and he can get up and down the floor at a high rate. Really really good athlete as well. Defensive issues, but we we’ll get over that. Maybe he could be a solid team defender. But if you think about that Fischer quote and then you look back to the Winhorse stuff, like kind of conflicting reports going on right now. And I I won’t lie, the guys over at ESPN, they’ve been filling this summer up with a lot of propaganda. So I don’t know who to believe right now. But let’s go under the impression the Selies are open and I guess at least trying to move Anthony Simons. Now, why do you make this move? because I think Simons is a really solid player as far as talent you could have gotten back in a holiday deal. Simons we weren’t even thinking about being on the market and I thought it was a pretty good return all things considered. Boston didn’t didn’t have to attach any draft capital as well. Um now the reason you trade Anthony Simons now after acquiring him is you know maybe to address some other needs on the roster. The Celtics are pretty solid in the back court right now. Pton Pritchard, Derek White kind of manning things up. We’ll see if Simon, if he’s on the roster, would end up starting. But the front court is a joke. It is quite comical right now. Is headlined by Neimius Kada and Luca Garza. Two guys who have not played more than like 400 minutes in an NBA season so far. They got a guy like Charles Bassie waiting in the pipeline potentially to be signed from the summer league roster, but who knows what’s going to happen there. Like they might need to trade away Anthony Simons to address the glaring needs they have down low. The Celtics are also $20.26 million over the luxury tax at this point. And in a Simons trade, you would be looking to acquire assets back that gets you closer and closer to that luxury tax line so you can avoid repeater penalties. Also, Simons, I think, has decent values, 26 27 million expiring contract. A guy who, you know, is only 26 years old, a team could take a flyer on this season, and if it doesn’t work out, he’s off their books the end of the year. But if it does, it’s a player they can look look at down the line for a resign. Also, like I said, getting closer to lottery status as well. If you get closer luxury tax line, it means you’re probably not taking back very uh great talent in a Anthony Simons return. So then you get closer to kind of tank status and potentially getting a good draft pick in a loaded 2026 NBA draft. But I’ll say this, Brad Stevens has said that getting under the luxury tax isn’t a complete priority at this point. He has said that the pri number one priority for Boston is retaining all their first round draft capital and to be able to be flexible for deals down the line. doesn’t need to get under the the tax just this year, even though they are going to get hit with some repeater penalties. They have greatly greatly minimized the um the damage that will go on from those repeater penalties by getting off of the holiday and Porzingis’ contract. Like they were what, like a hund00 million over the luxury tax line or something like that. And now they’re only $20 million over. So the penalties are going to be much fewer. So Brad’s not going to make a a hasty deal just to get off a couple more million and not end up getting out of the tax. like he’ll be okay. Keep holding on to Anthony Simons. If something great comes along, he’ll make a move and we’ll talk about a couple of those moves in just a moment. But if it goes down, you know, we’ll make a video about it, breaking all breaking all the details down and what the Celtics do thereafter. So that’s is why you subscribe to the channel, youtube.com/selix TV. Go down below, hit that big red sub button. So, join 53,000 diehard Celtics fans today by going down below and hitting that big red sub button right now. All right, let’s get to it. The top five Anthony Simons trade ideas that I saw Celtics blog, an outlet that I’ve, you know, long consumed as a diehard C’s fan. Like, they put out a bunch of ideas. I found one from another website and then our own Patrick Seman here at Chat Sports shot me a trade idea that we’ll get to at the end of the program. Let’s start off with this one though. Celtics getting in a three-team blockbuster that acquires Demar D. Rosen and Keon Ellis. Now, as far as talent that is recouped back by Boston on the court, guys who could produce right away this season, this is probably the best deal that you are going to see on today’s video. But in my opinion, I I just think it’s doing a little bit too much here. And the Celtics trade away Anthony Simons, George Nang. Cool with that. They also give away a first round pick. Not too happy about that. Uh and they also give away Sam Hower here that I’m not too fond of either. This is just trying to do way too much. The Celtics also only get about $18 million shed off in salary here. And at that point, you’re basically trading all of the contracts that’ll help you get under the luxury tax. So, not even going to be under the tax by making this deal straight up. So, this is just trying to do way too much for me. I I like the the prospect of getting a Keon Ellison Demard Rosen back, but at the expense of trading all three of those guys just to not get under the tax while doing it, then I’m kind of out on that move. Let’s go to number two here. It’s a very clean one for one swap that brings Nicole Vousvich to Boston in exchange for Anthony Simons. Unlike the last trade that we saw, this trade actually addresses the Celtics glaring needs in the front court. Vousvich is a player who can hit the outside shot. A really underrated passer out of the high post as well. Not the most mobile big, especially at like 32 years old, but I think it’s like 34 actually at this point, but I think he would fit pretty solidly into the Celtics offense. He is an absolute cone on the defensive end though. Anthony Simons is as well. I think this would be a solid deal for Boston. That gets off of $6.2 million in salary. And like I said, at least this saves money. I don’t love the return you’re getting back in Boovich. I don’t think he’s that great of a player at this point, but he can rebound the heck out of the basketball. He can put the ball in the cup from basically three levels on the basketball court. And you know, you help your center depth that is not very glamorous at this point. Let’s move on to trade idea number three. And this one is this is something uh right here. Kyle Koosma comes to Boston exchange for Simons as he heads to Milwaukee to help compliment Giannis. Look, this trade I look, the order that we’re doing it in is kind of like most unrealistic slash uh ones I don’t like to most realistic ones I do like. Uh this one kind of falls in a weird gray area. Like I hate the returner getting back, but I like the reasoning for doing it. This is a tank commanding trade right here for the Boston Celtics. Kyle Kosma is a disaster class in the basketball court. He will help you lose basketball games next year. And if your priority is to go out there and get a lottery pick next season for a loaded, you know, deep draft class, then potentially that’s a move that you go out there and make as Koozma is not under contract for too much longer. This gives you a tank commander for sure. Some people are calling Simon a tank commander. I think he’s a lot better of an asset than Kyle Koosma. This would put the Celix in a really, really rough spot for 2526. Let’s move on to trade idea number four. And this one kind of does a little bit of both. You get Brandon Clark, Vince Williams, and John Kchar, a little bit of a floor spacer over there in Memphis in exchange for Simons who just goes over there to the Music City. And uh this is an interesting trade here because look, these are not glamorous names. Like the highlight is Brandon Clark. Like and he’s not even all that great. Has not really gotten to that uh you know, elite role player status yet in this league. But this is a tank trade that also helps you in the front court. It also saves money as well, which the Kyle Kousma trade really doesn’t do all too much. This trade, I believe, saves around $6.7 million. So, like that this is even better financial relief than the Vousvich deal. You get a couple of younger players there in the front court as well. You can take some shots on who potentially develop a little bit down the line and then you’re looking at a situation where you’re just saving extra money. Couple of those guys come off the books and you potentially get a, you know, diamond in the rough type of player uh in your front court in Boston. I like that one a lot more than the Vousvich and the Kyle Koosma deals for Boston. But then let’s go to number five, which one I like the best and it is a doozy. So let’s get into it. The Celtics in return for Anthony Simons and George Niang get Ruha Chamura and John Kar. Now this isn’t exactly address you know guys who could play the center position at a really high level like you know more so like a Brandon Clark um return would you just getting talented basketball players back in this deal. Ruh Hachimura is no slouch at all. Like I really like his game because it come really a three-level score. Got a solid turnaround jumper game in the post as well. I think this is a home run and it saves 11 million for Boston, further minimizing those luxury tax repeater penalties, but it’s an absolute home run. I have it ranked like basically number one in my rankings here, but it’s pretty unrealistic for the most part, guys. Um you’re not going to get that type of return back for Simons. Um, look, and then then the Lakers here, they don’t really address their front court either. I I just think multiple sides in that deal would say no. But as far as what the Boston Celtics are getting back in return, saving $1 million and getting a guy like Ruach Chimara back in the deal, I’m kind of all in on that at this point. What do you guys think as far as the trades we discussed on today’s show? Pick one to make for me. If it’s trade number one that sent Amarda Rosen and Keon Ellis to Boston, he did have to give up a first round pick in Sam Hower, which I’m not too fond of. Type one down in the comment section. If it’s two and you guys want Vousvich to Boston in exchange for Simons, just a one for one deal, type two down below. If it’s three and we’re going for Kyle Kosma to Boston, the tank commander for sure in exchange for Simons, type three down below. If it’s number four and you want the plethora of bigs and front court players from the Memphis Grizzlies, couple of young talents in exchange for Anthony Simons, give me number four down below. And if it’s number five and you want the four team blockbuster mega deal, type five down below. I think this is a great return for Boston getting Ruh Hachimura and Chan Kchar back while saving a bunch of money. So that’s the one that I would go with, but this is a three-team deal by the way. My apologies. Um there is one more bonus trade idea that I wanted to give before we got out of today’s show because I had scripted the show all all day yesterday and then today this morning my guy Patrick Seman, host of the Bulls Report here at Chat Sports, just shot this in my DM. So, let’s go to this bonus trade idea here. That honestly a pretty good return for the Celtics in my opinion. They get back Kevin Herurder, Julian Phillips, and two second round picks in exchange for Sam Hower and Anthony Simons. Now, look, I don’t really want to be I’m not really in the business of giving up Sam Hower. Like, is But this trade puts you in a little bit of a unique situation. You give you give Simons away to the Bulls, which they’re in a little bit of weird situation now with Josh Giddy and Kobe White and like they trade away Lonzo. Do they really want to bring in another scoring guard in there to the to to the Windy City? I’m not so sure. Maybe they have to get another deal done before they made this one. Uh Sam Hower to the Hawks. Like again, I don’t really want to give him up that badly, but this is a trade that sets you up to get under the luxury tax completely, which really none of these trades did uh that we talked about in the first five to this point. If you make that deal, that creates about $16 million in calf space. And then you could trade a guy like George Niang into a traded player exception around the league because teams are going to want 40% three-point shooters and you can clear up $8 million $8 million more. $24 million cut and you are under the luxury tax completely. So that’s a bonus trade idea for you guys. If you like that one better, let me know down in the comments section and make sure you are subscribed to the channel. That will do it for today’s edition of Sel Today by Chad Sports. We’ll be covering all the Celtics trade rumors that come out the rest of the offseason. So lock us in. Hit that big red sub button. We’ll see you guys in the next one and as always, let’s go seats. [Music]

Yes
I really don’t think we should trade anfernee Simmons he’s a proven shooter and scorer
Call me crazy but I’d go with #3 for kuzma
Trade for a Big man…..Walker Kessler? Or trade for draft pucks and use money to sign Big Al if Al ain't going to get a bag somewhere else
Hauser for filipowski…gets under second apron, sign Al….starters would be dwhite, simons, jb, Al, filipowski with Peyton, niang and Garza off bench, top 3 in east and when jt comes back to make run in playoffs will be deadly offense
That first trade makes us way worse wtf
5:40 Is this simply to cut the salary? I'd rather have Simons than Derozen for this year.
6:35 This is a good trade. We have no legit starting Centers on the roster, and you're not taking on salary as his deal is expiring
7:30 Hate this trade. Kuzma is owed $20 million next year.
8:23 This is a bad trade. Williams and Clarke can't shoot the 3, and Konchar can't defend
9:20 No good. Konchar is signed through next year, which we don't want, and Rui is a good fit but he'll take minutes from Hauser and Baylor
11:30 I'd rather stick with Hauser and Simons. They have a possibly higher ceiling as they develop. Huerter is cooked, and Phillips is just meh
Anfernee Simons is an ideal fit for the Celtics offense under Brad Stevens. Every scoring guard we’ve had under Brad looked like MVP candidates. I’m excited because Anfernee can do it all. Defense may be another story 😂but it’s cool
Keep him. WTH

I say roll with the roster we have and make trades at the trade deadline. The Celtics don’t know what they really need until JT returns.
Haha we're take Simmons off your hands would you like dillon Jones? #wizards4life p.s so the wizards can punish the Celtics!!
Wouldn’t consider any of these trades . He’s just entering his prime . I need to get back a core player under 30yrs old
( 2)
That 4-team trade was great for the Jazz as they got a player and picks and didn't give up anything.
@Celtics today these all are awful. Please give the clickbait a rest, Id rather you talk about the young kids, expectations for this wash year, or look into the next year draft class. Pease do better
Any update to Amir Coffey ?
