Knicks Planning MAJOR MOVE! NY Preparing To Sign ONE Of These Players… | Knicks News

The Knicks are planning to make another move. New York has one more roster spot available to sign a veteran with. And according to reports, the Knicks are deciding between two key players. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. The Knicks are planning another move. The Knicks have been one of the biggest winners in free agency throughout the NBA. They have made some smart roster additions. Jordan Clarkson, Gerson Yabaselli, and they still have one roster spot available to add a veteran with. But the only question is who will they use that roster spot to sign in free agency? Well, according to reports, the Knicks are likely going to sign one of these players. Shout out to Ian Begley of SNY, NBA Central, and New York Basketball on the app X for giving us this following information here. And one thing I want to mention before we get started, the story on the left regarding Ian Begley stating that the Knicks have continued to touch base with Ben Simmons. That report, if you’re fans of this channel, we already covered that report a few days ago. I believe it was last week. So sometimes it takes the other outlets a little bit of time to catch up. But if you’re subscribed to this channel, you already knew the information. But going back to this report, as we covered last week, the Knicks have continued to touch base with Ben Simmons in free agency. But here’s the following update, the new update that we have on this situation. According to Ian Bley, he stated the following. The Knicks remain interested in Landry Sheam and he remains open to coming back to the Knicks. Also, to my knowledge, as of late last week, the Knicks were still in touch with free agent Ben Simmons. And I’m sure they’re still looking at other available players as well, too. So, everyone wanted to know who the Knicks were going to add to this team in free agency. Well, shout out to Ian Begley because he just revealed two of the players the Knicks are targeting in free agency to use that vet minimum contract on is Landry Shamut and Ben Simmons. And between the two of them, I would rather the Knicks sign Landry Shamut for a number of reasons. Number one, he is not a liability on the floor in terms of shooting. He can shoot that ball extremely well, especially from three. Ending last season with the Knicks, he was the best three-point shooter on the team. And under Mike Brown, the Knicks are going to play faster. If the Knicks are playing faster, that means they’re running up the floor. And when they’re running up the floor, their shooters are going to be open. That means Landry Shamut is going to have the ball in his hands wide open. He’s going to convert on that three-point shot and the Knicks are going to be running to the other side attempting to play defense. That is why you signed Landry Shamut. Not only that, by the way, I mentioned it already. He played with the Knicks last year. He already has chemistry with many players on this team and that’s important. You can’t trade for that. You can’t buy that. You can’t get that in free agency. The only way you develop it is by putting in the work and putting in the time. Landry Shamut, he has already done that. And I am sure a number of Nick players have already spoken up and have told the Knicks, go after Landry Shamut and retain him in free agency because they know his defense it’s very good. His offense is very good. Need I remind everybody in a playoff game at MSG, the crowd was chanting Landry Shamut’s name. Why? Not because he made a great shot. It’s because he was playing amazing defense on TJ McConnell. Once you have a moment like that, everybody, including Knicks management, is gonna want to get you back on this team. And clearly the Knicks have interest in bringing back Landry Shamid. It’s no secret, it’s no surprise that every time we talk about the Knicks and their plans with free agency, they are always linked back to Landry Shamid. But we also have to speak about another player that they continue to show interest in and continue to be linked to Ben Simmons. If it’s not going to be a Landry Shammit, then it’s going to be Ben Simmons. If you watch this channel, you know exactly how I feel about Ben Simmons. But maybe you don’t know. Maybe you’re new here. And if you are, let me tell you exactly why I don’t want the Knicks to go after Ben Simmons. He’s a liability. I know everybody in the comments are going to say the exact same thing, but recap, he can playmake, he can pass the ball, he can rebound, he can defend multiple positions. I know maybe he can’t score, but you know what? He can do everything else. He can do everything else except score. You need to score. If you’re out there on the floor and you can’t score, you’re a liability. That means everybody is going to defend everyone else besides you. Now, some people in the comments to counter that point that I mentioned about Ben Simmons and him being a liability mention Mitchell Robinson. What about him? Recap. Isn’t he a liability? Actually, he isn’t. Even though he can do other things a lot better like block shots and get offensive rebounds, he’s not a liability with the ball. If I throw the ball to Mitchell Robinson inside the paint, I know he’s going to do something with it. Likely he’s going to score in some way or some fashion. With Ben Simmons, can I say the same thing? Cuz I know he can score, but he’s not known for scoring. He’s known for doing everything else and that’s the problem. I know that, you know, and the entire league knows that. That makes him a liability regardless of how you play him. And if he’s coming off the bench, you want to add a nonshooter off the bench to play for the Knicks. This roster spot was not supposed to be wasted. The Knicks did not go back and rework Gerson Yabiselli’s deal only to waste this roster spot. They need to utilize it and they need to use it on a player that’s going to have an impact on both sides of the floor. With Landry Shamut, besides chemistry, he can shoot the three ball and play defense. He can do both for this Knicks team. Exactly what we need off the bench. Now, some of you are saying in the comments, “We need another ball handler.” And I understand that. Maybe we do. But that doesn’t mean you waste a roster spot on a player that is mostly a liability. Even if he can do all the things that everybody believes he can do, where is this line in free agency to sign this man? Where is the competition to sign this man? How come the Knicks are able to sign him for potentially the vet minimum? That’s because his market value is not that high. It sounds good on paper. It sounds like it’s not a big deal. Oh, it’s only the 10th roster spot. Let’s give it to Ben Simmons. What’s the worst that could happen? There’s a lot that could happen, a lot of bad that can happen. That’s why when you look at this roster, yes, maybe we do need another ball handler. But what else do we need? We need something else, don’t we? We need another wing. We need a legit wing to back up Mikuel Bridges and OG Anobi. We still don’t have that player, but there is a player in free agency that the Knicks can go out and sign and add him to this team. Now, if they don’t want to do that because they only want to look at veteran guards, I can understand that as well, too. But clearly, as of right now, the two players the Knicks are deciding between is Landry Shamut and Ben Simmons. And it looks like Shamut might be a little bit more of the favorite only because of the chemistry, the players on this team having a connection with him and everything he provides to this team off the bench shooting wise and defense-wise. You can talk to me till you’re blue in the face about Ben Simmons and everything he could do. But here’s the thing. players that could do something and other players that will definitely do something. There’s a major difference there. And if I’m building out a team, a team that I want to get all the way to the NBA playoffs, I’m going with a sure thing, not a maybe or a could. So, I hope the Knicks only stayed in contact with Ben Simmons. never really went the extra mile in offering him anything because Ben Simmons on this Knicks team, it would be a disaster. Please get Landry Shamut back, resign him, get him part of this team again and let’s run it back if that’s the direction Leon Rose wants to go. maybe under a new head coach. And with some great additions in free agency, maybe this Knicks team can go even further next year. And they’re going to have to because the pressure is on, not only on this Knicks team, but definitely on new head coach Mike Brown. But what about you guys?
