Atlanta Hawks’ Asa Newell After Summer League Win Over Grizzlies

So, you know, obviously a tight game there at the end. Just for you, you had, you know, like a crucial rebound. Just how were you able to end the game how you wanted to? I think it’s just my motor. Uh, it just carries on. We have a really good team uh that can make clutch stops on defense and on offense. And then you guys had, you know, the third quarter where you kind of like took lead double digits. What happened in that fourth quarter? Was it something Memphis was doing to adjust to you your offense or was it something you guys weren’t doing to continue um scoring the way you were scoring? Yeah, we just got stuck in uh just the pick and roll. We just got to, you know, get to gets or DHOs or, you know, setting screens on other guys instead of just going to set up a screen in the middle and, you know, just kind of got st. You had that um that scoring through that layup through contact and you kind of had that little stare down. Um just was that a highlight for you? What were some of the highlights for you for this game? I just think my, you know, defensive attributes. Um, you know, just playing more physical and, you know, I just got to take my time in the post and, um, yeah, that’s pretty much it. And you guys are 4 and0, but obviously it still depends on point differential. What is your opinion on that kind of scoring and the way the the seating kind of works for summer league? Yeah, I just think we just got to win by more points. It’s the rules and, you know, we got to take care. I mean, we had a 13-point lead and, you know, we kind of get stuck in um giving up the leads at the end. So, we put ourselves in this position. And sorry, one question on my end about Chelli NBA. I know of the core, how’s been your experience like with with him? Uh if he’s quiet, you know, how how how he’s off of the court? I mean, he’s a great guy with a great attitude. Um you know, he’s always bringing energy um on the bench and, you know, off the court and whatnot. And, you know, I just can’t wait for him to get back on the floor. and your guy Kobe Johnson got the start today and he also, you know, assisted assisted you on, you know, the dunk. Just what was it like for you to be able to play with him and get that playing time with him? Yeah, I mean, in training camp, he was our best defender. Um, he’s really, uh, good in, um, transition and, um, making the right reads and, you know, he’s just a great player. Cool. Thank you.

Asa Newell finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists in Atlanta’s 92-88 win over the Grizzlies.
