Houston Rockets vs Portland Trail Blazers | Jul 17 2025 | NBA 2K26 Summer League Today
and Ashley Olsen on in the center circle, but it’s Oabore and the Rockets controlling the first possession. I expect to see the Rockets come out really aggressive trying to get that first when you want to get off the snide as soon as you can. They’ve been struggling here on the offensive end of the floor. Let’s see if they can get it going here. Sissoko will bring it on a throw to the corner. Caleb Love has been shooting it well. Young on the block working against OAR turns right shoulder had it partially blocked and pulled down by Cavan Harris on the board. Yeah and son it’s just still adjusting to the physicality as well and the speed of the game and he’s acknowledged that and those things will take some time. Harris has the first field goal. Had a nice game two against Detroit on Sunday with 16 points then sat on Monday with the Rockets a little summer league backto back. That’s where Young’s really impressed, hasn’t it? He has. He catching that high post. His ability to pass and and also give him help. You see Love turning the corner there to finish the lay gets bodies off of Hank Suns. He’s able to cling that up if he misses and he also gets some lobs and finishes off that that hand dribble hand off. Harris patient feeding Kennedy Chandler three games has averaged 19 points in this summer league. He is not disappointed. He has gotten in the pain at willson to Book Knight Sissoko to show the range. One and done for the Blazers. Book Knight on the move and a ring run. A right-handed ridge from Sidoko. Make that Oselbor beg your pardon. Yeah, Osbor’s taking advantage. He’s got he’s given up so much size. This is the part of the game where Hansson is going to struggle a little bit. Just the tempo and speed of the game overall. It’s got to see him now with another turnover here. And those have been piling up. Cam Matthews with the lane and an early stop in by the Blazers. 2 minutes in an 8-2 burst. [Music] Hey. [Music] [Music] Hey. Hey. [Music] [Music] here in Las Vegas for great oabore and the Houston Rockets are in pursuit of their first win of the summer league. It’s game number four for both these clubs. Four of five shooting start for Houston. Sissoko with his back to the basket. Love toes the line that rattles out and Chandler has the rebound. One thing you got to love about Caleb Love, he stays in attack mode. He’s never seen a shot he doesn’t like. Matthews tracks down that loose ball. 10 to shoot as he crosses over Han and finishes. Cam Matthews, who the Rockets announced they had signed last weekend as they waved Nate Williams to make room for his deal. Cam Matthews is going to love, you’re talking about a guy that knows who he is and what he is and competes on the defensive end of the floor. Chandler shoots the gap running two-on-one with Harris who lays it in with the left hand. Houston’s taking the identity of their head coaching just really aggressive on the defensive end of the floor creating turnovers. Seen two had it ripped away. Turnovers continue to pile up. Arms on the move. Stops in transition and misses. Offensive board for the Rockets. Extra pass. Chandler deflected out of bounds off the hand of Carton. Yeah, the Blazers right now just turning the ball over and you do that inability to get back and set your defense. And the Rockers are doing a great job of pressuring it, doubling in the post that time, getting in the passing lane, turning the defense and the offense. Sean Padulla, Justin McCoy in for Portland. They’re without Brown Repair tonight. Resin in this fourth game of the Las Vegas summer league. Chandler off the high screen. A shot clock violation. Harris knows he’s got to get that up. No idea what the shot clock was. Portland’s summer league head coach Ronnie Bell will turn 42 later this month. He’s a New Jersey product. On Holmes off the jab step, 10 to shoot. Soo downhill with bad intentions. Expect to see them run out of action a lot more with Hong Sun in the mid post. His ability to play off from that’s that’s where he’s more effective right now than trying to play through him in the offensive end. Use his length ability to pass. Let the other guys score arms setting up as altered the shot. It’s not blocked it. Adulla behind the back in transition. and McCoy could not finish but a whistle. Speaking about Hung on the defensive end of the floor that time that’s just go stay between ball and basket everything you go over your length. Let these other guys make the game easier for you. Justin McCoy to the line. Spent last season playing in Latafia and Israel. Shot it well in both those leagues. 40% from behind the ark scoring the upper teens on a per game basis. Justin went unacted in 24 after five college seasons spent at Virginia, North Carolina and wide. He’s improving his ability to score the ball away from the basket. His jump shots improving and plays really hard on the defensive end of the floor as he continues to be more consistent with that jump shot. It goes a long way with him potentially making someone’s roster. Young gets his first breather as McCoy connects on the second. Germaine Samuels Jr. also into the game off the Houston bench. [Music] It’s a Rockets group that scored a 16-point lead and lost in overtime on Monday in that game against Atlanta. One and done here for Harris. Now with this lineup, you’re going to see the Blazers play more with the pace that they want to play. ball movement and on the defensive end of the floor, they really want to get after you, get physical. They’re going to be able to do that with this group that’s on the floor right now. Demetro Scapins, 7 foot1, 27 years old, appearing in the summer league for his third straight season. He’s been with the Knicks the last couple. He’s coming off of 8 and seven in Rip City. Another guy be really effective in that higher post. Little bit more mobile right now than H on has also played seven pro seasons in Ukraine. So a season posted player as he matches up with Moses Brown off the Rocket bench. This Malik Wilson back court with Chandler. Eight to shoot. Harris got his defender lifted. Foul by the reach of Caleb Love. Great job there. You can see the patience with Kavon Harris. He’s just pump fake. Patience. He’s staying in attack mode. Really aggressive there. It’s Caleb Love reaching in. Caleb Love’s going to learn it as a rookie. You stick your hand in there against these experienced guys. They’re going to elevate. get the contact and get to the line. Second of coming for Harris, who’s coming off a great year with College Park last season, 20 points per shot 42% from distance, was the G-League Next Up game MVP, size, and ability to make shots. Missed both, but Brown crashed the board and put another foul on the Blazers. expecting Harris just to continue to attack there. And you see got Moses Brown coming in the game. Spent most of the year with the Westchester Knicks. Close to trying to crack a roster. He’s really averaging about a double double a game and starting to figure out his niche there. As I say that, he draws the foul, gets buried inside. Takes some time for some of these guys to try to figure out their role. often tell guys, you got to invest in, you know, in what your path wants to be. Some guys want to go overseas and some guys want to figure it out in the NBA. You have to spend some time investing into that. You can’t go back and forth. It just sets you back and your role for every level of the NBA or whether you go to Europe be so different. You need to make that decision relatively early. And some of these guys like Moses Brown have done so. They know the path they want to go. McCoy missed the Blazer now 0 of five from behind the arc. Now again you get that hand in there. They’re just so guys are just taught that you know got to put your chest on them. Livia Camwa thought he had it on the block. Said free throws with 450 to go in our opening frame. Kennedy Chandler who played with 36 games with the Grizz as a rookie before he was waved at the end of that 23 season. Both of those guys at Tennessee former vaults was Tennessee as well prior to heading to Michigan. Crafty move by Padulla. Toughness. That’s what you get out of char. Really gritty guard. Harris challenging three. Doula got the deflection. Brown has it too strong. With his eyes up in transition in and out dribble. He spins out. Took a while to get it to Love, but he’s got all day. Maybe too long to look at it. Out of bounds to the Blazers, it appears. Wilson’s got a no there. You don’t rotate the comwa and leave Caleb Love open. You want to make the big guy shoot that three. That’s the one thing about Caleb Love where he’s we talked about earlier when we we were you and I in the locker room before was his ability to consistently knock down shots is the question and concern we have. I know you covered him a bunch in college and seen him a bunch as well, but he’s had a couple looks here at the end of it in a knockdown. did knock it down, but the reputation of a volume scorer and those opportunities at this level just may not be available. They may. Yeah. Not in your role. That may not be his role at the NBA level. And he’s got to become more efficient and knock those down. Nobody ever questions his talent. Mechanics are always good. He just won’t get as many of a volume shots as he would as he has in the past. But he can get his shot off now. He can play multiple position for you. I was about to say he did come to Las Vegas, a man on a mission, didn’t he? He’s wired to score. You know, you don’t change that about him. You just want him to be more efficient, continue to defend and not take bad shots. Right. Portland, they withtood that early 100 run. Battled their way back into this. A wave off that tip in by Moses Brown. 91 now. The run going the other way by the Blazers to get within a bucket. And we talked about this lineup. This lineup allows them to play. They want to be physical. They want their identity is on the defensive end of the floor. blow up dribble handoffs and they’re not t turning the basketball over. So, we’re able to see, you know, what they’re what they look like on the offensive end of the floor, but they’re they’re going to set their tempo on the defensive end and that starts their offense. Kennedy Chandler, you mentioned his Tennessee roots, a two-time Tennessee Mr. Basketball, former McDonald’s All-American, the SEC tournament MVP back in 2022. Just battling a journey that you have to when you’re a small guard all the way to the rim for Love. Somehow coralled it. Missed the layup inside and the Rockets on the count. Termaine Samuels Jr. had his pass deflected and stolen by McCoy. Now Love back for more. Determined take but wiped away by Ledum. Chris Ledham got airborne. Just the athleticism of these guys and the physicality that they’re playing with. These are hustle plays on the defensive end of the floor. And here, Caleb Love coming at you full head of steam is not an easy task. Rich Lam says, “Get it out of here.” Former Harvard grad looking for help. Adulla provides it. Couldn’t knock down the three. Now Wilson on the run out stopped with that right-handed jam. Kwa’s been active now. Trying to pay it off a three at the other end. That goes B. Still working on that that three ball defensively. Olivier Khard’s really active. Pulls up just inside the line. That’s where he’s more comfortable there. He can put it down and get to the mid-range. That’s what he wants to do. [Music] playing with Portland in this summer league for the second straight season after a year in Germany. And that’s a travel. 221 to go in our opening frame. 13 up between the Blazers and the Rockets. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Happy [Music] Hey [Music] [Music] blue. [Music] Children, we asked you off the top what you made about the news of the day. With daytime returning to the Pacific Northwest, how about the move of the summer with Kevin Durant continuing his illustrious Hall of Fame career with the Houston Rockets. Houston has checked the box. They found a guy that a closer, you know, a guy that they struggle sometimes making shots. That is not Kevin Durant problem. And great job by the front office acquiring a talent like that. future Hall of Famer. I think the greatest scorer this game has seen that’s just a complete scoreer. Nothing he hasn’t done and able to do at a high level. Expect big things from the Houston Rockets this coming season. Love able to save it. Hansen brings it across himself. A whistle behind the play. Let’s see. Clock issue. took away Hunks Hansson’s no look pass there, man, from half court. Let my let my guy throw his dimes. He’s missed the only shot he’s taken so far. He and the Blazers turned it over four times. Six giveaways for the Rockets. It’s been the theme of this opening frame. Can’t imagine how difficult it is, you know, for him right now learning the language, not able to, you know, communicate with his guys as well as he would like to throws it away again here. Big week for his translator, Chris Lou, right? Both guys right now back to back turnovers and that’s something that’s going to come with him. As he gets more comfortable in strength, the game slows down. He’s learning something totally different. the rules are different for him. And where’s his draft slot across his chest? Right. It is. How ironic is that? Portland in some corners was credited for trading back five spots with Memphis to add the unprotected firstrounder and then also criticized in some corners for for reaching for him. Obviously too small a sample size to overreact to anything here. But I think this week has been encouraging for those inside and outside the organization who are observing him. Well, you’ve got clinging there already and you know what you have in him being a first round draft pick the year before and you’ve opened up an opportunity for him to come in and his minutes to grow and so you never pass up on the talent like that. You’re you’re essentially you’re getting a guy like him. You’re like, “Hey, we want to take a step, want to develop in getting a big guy. We we believe in his upside and his talent and he can pass the ball and put it down on the deck. There’s certain things he’s going to be able to do right away. But the game right now, the physicality and the speed of the game is just a lot to ask for when you’re also trying to figure out how to communicate as well. Lam got one out of two there. The Rockets have missed six foul shots in this first quarter. Olivia Kwa’s been impressive for the Blazers. He has. And again, takes him takes him a second to get it off, but he’s improving that shot. And you’re talking about a 69 guy that can switch the defend on the perimeter. Samuels just ran right over the defender. Cameron Tyson gave up the body to take the charge. Great job there just switching on the ball. Tyson giving his body up. Hard to get an own ball offensive foul in any level, but the way the rules are nowadays now just want to go out right away. That’s what he wanted to do. A deep touch. He’ll have to earn it at the line. You mentioned clearing out some room in the front court, right? I think you were referencing DeAndre Eaton there. Yeah. Moving on behind, you know, Robert Williams and lottery pick Donovan Clling. And here comes Young Hansen. And you’ll be able to talk to Donovan Kling and learn a little bit from him. What did you go through? He’s a big guy in this league and also can teach him Mandarin. That’s the only can teach him English. But I was talking to one of the coaches, Kenneth Smart for the Trailblazers and I asked him how was this adjustment going with the language and he said the problem is that all the guys were teaching them cuss words. I can’t repeat what they were saying, but they’re teaching him cuss words and he works with the bigs. He’s standing up now on their bench yelling out instructions. He seems so wellliked. He’s got this disposition that I think has elevated this roster that Portland has assembled for Las Vegas in a very short amount of time. Well, it’s good in a lot of ways. You don’t understand things. So, when you make a mistake, you can just say, “Hey, I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Coach Chandler off the step back nearly missed it all. led them trying to save it. [Applause] Obviously, he’s got the weight of the the franchise and a country on his shoulders, but he seems to be wearing it well. He doesn’t take himself too seriously, I guess, is the first brush impression. Well, he’s going to have to be patient with himself. I mean, this is just it’s a journey and it’s a long journey for him and again, it’s so many obstacles. Love challenging that second defender and finishing. Been a sluggish start. Two of eight for Caleb Love, but he’s not going to stop. No, he’s not. He’s going to continue to get him up. You like to see him? He settled for a couple of jump shots early that time. Attacking to the rim. You want to continue to do that. Still a strong, physical, athletic guard. And the Blazers have completely flips this first quarter on its head. Chandler challenging the big. Palma grabbed the board and was knocked to the deck with 10.5 remaining. Tied up with Chris Leam there. Both rookies involved in that play there. Caleb Love on a ball screen. Got to fight continue to fight through that screen. Johnson stand again. Stand between the ball and the basket. Make everything go over you. Make these guys finish these mid-range shots and they’ll miss more than they make. Both teams as you see in the bonus in these closing seconds. Olivier undrafted in 24 after five collegiate seasons for Tennessee. You referenced that grad transfer at Michigan, a season that ended with left wrist surgery. I recruited him in high school actually. Bishop Walsh. How’d that go? That’s why I’m sitting here with you. I didn’t get enough guys like him. That’s why I’m sitting over here with you. Final 10 seconds. Chandler trying to cap the opening frame. Denied. Kawa’s been everywhere, but a buzzer beater. [Music] [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Welcome back. So, the game started well for you guys, Kennedy, but they go on a 19-2 run. What happened in that final five minutes of the first quarter? Uh, we had too many turnovers. You know, it starts with me missing my free throws. I had a turnover. So, it starts with a point guard and me got to get the team involved and, you know, we got a whole second quarter coming up before halftime. So, we got to step it up. You’ve been one of the stars here at summer league. What’s the feedback you’re getting from the coaching staff? That don’t tell me too much. They just keep on telling me push the pace and everything else going to take care of itself. Appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Thanks to Bill and to Kennedy’s point. Eight turnovers and six missed free throws for the Rockets in that first quarter. They did cap it with a bucket and Led starts the second with a three. Yeah, both teams have just gone home runs. Most of it’s been just forced turnover. Just being sloppy with the basketball. There it is. That’s what the crowd’s been waiting for here in Las Vegas. The first field goal for Young Han Sun. Great job there. Just catching it and finishing. Don’t dribble it. Don’t bring it down to the guards. Just keep it high and finish. Yeah, she was watching on draft night. There it is. That’s just like us. Yeah. One other instance of his early sense of humor in the English language. He was asked by the media here what questions he’ll ask Joic, you know, when they get to play together. Someone he’s looked after and idolized. He replied through his translator. He’s going to ask for a picture and an autograph. He’s got it figured out already. Advice can wait. And he’ll blend right in with the rest of the young guys. You saw the sign said, “Eat, sleep, and PlayStation 5.” I mean, PS5. I mean, what else to worry about? Chandler kicks it out. Ledham turns down the three to step into a mid-range two. Caleb Love has the weak side glass. Trail three. Not this time. And that is a shot he’s expected to make. Chanty Bil says he has faith faith that he will emerge as a three-point threat during his career. He will get all the work at work and that that Johny will give him a ton of confidence to shoot that as he will with every all of his guys. Let loom again off the mark. Soko will board it and bring it. And that’s a block. Great job there by pushing it. Pushing the tempo there by Sissoko. Once he felt the contact, he tried to get that on the glass. Get to the free throw line. You love the unselfish play there. Once he feels that contact, get it up to the glass. That’s the difference in two shots and a ball going on side or underneath out of bounds. Nice find in that opposite corner. Book Knight couldn’t pay it off and the Rockets will take over. Let’s dive into the strong second half finish while we have some time here. Portland closed the year I think with a re really encouraging stretch 23 and 18 in their last 41. You talked about that defensive identity that’s been established. Now, can they blossom offensively? because they’re they’re dealing, I think, with this tension between the patience with the build, right, which is on a really good trajectory and the urgency to deliver results in a loaded Western Conference. And that’s the problem. They were out west and I think everybody acknowledges the teams that are in the West. It’s they can take a step next year and be much better and still not be much higher in the rankings of of of as a playoff team. But they started I mean, look at that. I mean, they’re one game under 500 there after the All-Star break and but the identity is established now. You get players to fit in and got some help coming which we talked about it might not be available to you this year in Dane. But again, his leadership there and do the Rockets ruin it for everyone in that Western Conference going from 41 wins and missing the playing tournament in 24 to the two seed a year later. They changed the expectations now. They definitely did that. Both of these coach I mean guys playing with the coaches and identity of their coaches. They played it that style and we saw that major leap the Rockets have taken and obviously Portland would hope to make the same adjustment. [Music] Saw Andrew Carr 64 and wide is into the game for the Blazers with the miss on the opposite ends defending against OAR here. Tried to thread the needle in a kick. I’ll say this though, I like Portland as like a a league pass team in 25 26 late nights in the Pacific time zone. That might be how I do some nights. They’ll be they’ll be fun to watch. You like physicality, toughness, and defense. That’s what you’re going to see. Friends Kevin Calabro, Lamar Herd. I like it. Chandler goes back to get it. Six to shoot. Left it on the iron. It comes down in the hands of Carr. Andrew Carr, former deacon. Sorry, I hate to ruin your Wake Forest point on that. Yeah. Yeah. We’ll blame that on Kentucky. He went to Kentucky and learned that. He didn’t learn that at Wake. He learned that at Kentucky. Book Knight. Weaving feeding the corner alone for three. There it is. DJ Carton. Don’t want to leave him open. He planted his fourth summer league on a two-way and he can score it now. Now an illegal screen. Talk about Card too. He does that. He put it on the floor. Create hits the gap. No rotation. DJ Cart knocks it down. He’s a lefty with warp speed. If you were watching on Tuesday, you probably saw him explode to the tune of 20 points, five assists, three steals. Scapins said up to screen too much there. Hit off by Book Knight. Book Knight’s another guy he’s wired to score and he plays at some point. He’s trying to transition into that. It’s not always easy when you’ve been a natural scorer all your life and struggle to find his footing. and I think trying to find a position. He’s kind of in that Caleb Love role of not being efficient of a score and then trying to play some point. Can’t come off the ball screen. Throw that away. 79 NBA games all Charlotte did not play in the league last season. The advice to be a guy like him is just go out and be who you are. You know, sometimes you try to change. find you a fit for someone that knows exactly how you play and can’t fully make that adjustment trying to be a point guard. Arms from the corner draws front iron ripped down on the board by Sissoko. We’ve seen him do this a couple of times. Board it and bring it. Playmate thought about three midway through the shot clock. Here’s Car off the elbow. Carton tied up. Scapins. Raise the iron and Houston controls. Possession there, but a lot of good ball movement. Everybody’s turning down shots, trying to create an opportunity for a teammate. That’s what you want to see. Guys competing on the defensive board defensive in the floor. Just let the ball dictate the shot. Come on. Harris pours in a three. Carton, not this time. Harris again on the move. Wilson attacks, sprays it back out to Harris. Osbor has the offensive glass. Sing it around the Rockets. Teen up a three for arms. Time out Portland. bigger. Houston’s been better from the three-point arc than they have from the foul line. Have been. But Harris knocking down one there and his teammate Arms comes up with another one. Knocks it down. Backto back threes for the Rockies. We’re back in this game. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Welcome back to the NBA 2K26 Summer League here at the Pavilion in Las Vegas. JB Long, glad you’re with us. Randolph Childris, Nville Kareem as well. Houston jumped out 12-2. It’s been all Portland since we play the final five minutes of the opening half. Osport got back for the block, but he’s whistled for the foul as DJ Carton tried to wrap around that layup. So far in the first half for Trailblazers when they’ve tried to play with a traditional big, they’ve been a little sluggish. They’ve been slow in their rotations on the defensive end of the floor, but when they’ve gone small ball, they’ve been able to be more disruptive and be able to cover more ground, and that’s been their better offensive. Summer League action continues on NBA TV, ESPN, and the ESPN app. Coming up next, Warriors and Raptors right here at 10. Then ESPN 2 tonight has Nuggets and Clippers at 11:00 and ESPN tomorrow, Pacers and Pelicans, that’s at 8. And decide the semifinals, the top four advance. They’re playing for really big rings this year in Las Vegas. I don’t know if you saw them on social media. Toronto has a lot of play for that. the Spurs game was going on. I didn’t see the end of that. I came into today with four days to play, three teams at 4 and0. Toronto’s looking good with a scoring margin or a differential of 17. Yeah. So, they win. They’re in. I think the Spurs is 16, I think it is. And it’s like a one-point difference between the two. Now, San Antonio plus 16 and a half. Charlotte uh came in at plus 87. I’m told that San Antonio just lost. So, they’re out of that picture. And the Clippers last game of the night, we mentioned against Denver. They’re plus nine coming into their fourth contest. So, Thunder and Hornets have clinched, we’re told. 14 still alive to fill out the other half of that semiinal bracket. Here’s Love. Got a cross match back out to the three-point line. A good first half from Olivier Kama. Kamwa’s been really active. He’s given a good showing here. Knocks down his second three. Been really active on the defensive end of the floor. Rebounding, deflections. He’s got nine to the 32. Off the turnover. Love on the run out again to shoot the defender with his body. that ran into Adonis arms. He’s doing a great job of pushing tempo. This group offensively is just really good for Kamwa gets to play bigger. Andrew Carr at 610. This lineup has just been really good for the Blazers. Get a look at 15 white Keshan Bartholomew making his first appearance. Oh. Oh, what an acrobatic move. DJ Carton trying to join Circus Sole here in Vegas. Arms coming our way. Like the reflexes there, JB. I thought you had one. I just tore a rotator cuff. So, the rest is yours, my friend. Yeah. I don’t know if that’s a if I can call this an athletic move. I think that could be considered athletic, but not this ball. Can we see the end of this? Just bailed you out, my friend. production looking out for me. Yeah, we don’t want the kids to see that. So, it’ll give them nightmares. 18 combined turnovers and one on the playbyplay. Short clock situation here for the Blazers. Kamwa creating got a good challenge defensively from Chris Led who’s been a force. He has been. Harris behind the back on Bartholomew. Strong take to the line. Tell him he’s got to stop reaching because Harris is just handling it. Yeah. Oh no. Who’ you drive? Let’s take a look at this. Oh, it’s from far away. I’m good. Yeah. This athletic move trying to I thought you was going to get up out your seat and try to catch it and shoot it. They bailed you out on that one. He got a friend in production there that kind of looked out the wide angle sit down just like on the open. [Applause] Harris has been playing well just just getting to his spots. You can tell he’s crafted scoring at his size ability to knock down the threes. Getting to the rim as well. And he’s had a really strong first half here. runs 66 220 former Southland player of the year. It’s Stephen F. Austin two-point game and a pick in the back court. Wilson takes over and hammers it home. He’s, you know, he plays for the He Cougars. You got to got to defend. And I think Malach Wilson’s one of those guys when you watched him play, you like the way he knows he’s accustomed to playing on the ball here. Quick hands, getting the steal and the finish, but he plays with a nice gear and pace. He has a a motor to him, a speed to him that you just can’t teach. And you play for a successful program like Houston and come to that type of reputation, guys know you have to defend. Want to play for Kelvin Sansoist. Arms it did well to track it down. Running a rout like a receiver there. Spots Wilson three. That was the knock on use a great job identifying the match up he had on Hunson. Deep touch here. Cam Matthews defending tease up Padulla. There it is. Great job there. Hunson there being patient in the post. Turned his back. Know the jet team was coming. And again, get it out of here. The rejection of Cam Matthews. [Music] Time out. US with a new game. 35 a piece and 224 to go before the half. Last time he dimeded up a teammate, knocked down a three. Sean Padoo. Own [Music] a design studio. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] blue. Hey [Music] 224 remaining in our opening half. And off the baseline trigger, Dean Harris got a clean look. He and the Rockets trying to win their first game here in Vegas. Portland with a record of two and one. And Padulla pours in a three. Now Harris back to work hammering that dribble. Wilson’s been a spark here for the Rockets in the second. Kennedy Chandler snakes that screen, digs in deep. Hansson got a piece. Wilson gets a clean look and hit the side of the board. Ouch. Had a good look there. These have been the two for Portland. They’ve been shining bright in Las Vegas. Draftes are staying aggressive. They’re running their offense through these guys. Rockets will keep it. 15 to shoot. Kayla Love is just constantly in attack mode. Get the dribble hand off here. And doesn’t matter for him. He walks into the gym. He thinks he’s open. It’s going up. Great sign for Trailblazers. He start knocking down shots. Got seven points on 10 FGAAS. Blazers come away with a stop here. They’ve got the lead in the ball. 75 to go in the first. Lost the handle and he touched it last. Still a n0 rip for the Blazers. Canning three consecutive three-point tries and now they’ll pick up with some fullcourt defensive intensity. This is usually how they play, but again when punch in that’s going to be difficult and they go right at his guy and allow him to break the press. That’s why I said it’s been a different look with but when the big sevenfooters are in they’re just going right in the ball screen motion the Rockets are then when they go small that allows the Blazers to blow up screens DHO’s really force turnovers and that’s meant the eb and flow of how this game has been played. Thought that was a a savvy use of the second of the 10 fouls that Hansung is allowed tonight. He’s allowed to be tired. And that’s on him. He’s got to stay between ball and basket on the ball screen there. That’s his job there. Got to protect the rim. Gives it back to Love slicing through for two and a free throw to follow. Did they speak English or Mandarin there? You think? I wasn’t sure what language they communicating, but the passing between these two has been good. Catch it instantly. Caleb Love on a given go. Kenny Chillers there asking for the hockey assist. Both guards on the floor right now have that. Soo puts it up and some creativity on the finish. Book Knight not as he intended, but he’ll take the two. Just great awareness by Book Knight. [Applause] laying that up on a weak side. [Music] Three and change the differential here as Chandler hopes to get the last for the Rockets. Abdullahounding him, letting them the screen over the big and he cans the pull up jumper. Kennedy Chandler and now a steal in the back court. Paris with 2.1 is going back to the strike. Couple of careless turnovers by the Blazers court there. Great outlet pass. Soo throws it up. James Book night. That’s a testbook fast break. Not a lot of dribbling there. One dribble to gather yourself and get it up. Great catch and finish. James Book Knight. It’s another one of the He’s another reason why I’m sitting over here by you as well. He’s another guy. Try to recruit him and then Yukon comes in the door. What a talent. I think a lot of people didn’t know how talented he was when he came out. He had a foot injury and just kind of exploded on the scene. Just trying to figure out score in the game. Little summary of the first half there. Harris with 10 points to lead the way. But eight miss foul shots by the Rockets. 4640. Hartland with the lead after two quarters here at the Pavilion in Las Vegas. [Music] Own a design studio.
