Los Angeles Lakers Vs Boston Celtics | FULL GAME | Jul 17 2025 | NBA 2K26 Summer League Today

situation at the moment. Celtics win the tip. Walsh with the ball and Shoga fires right away. No good. James with the rebound. And you hear the Laker faithful. Always a presence here in Las Vegas. James off the curl goes up top to loco underneath and gets fouled by Williams. Well, we talked about Bronny James at Dalton Connect, of course, but Christian Koko is another one of the players that the Lakers are going to need throughout this season. So, want to get some development from him as well. We know the lack of center position that they had last year and Kelloko just wasn’t ready. So, now you’re trying to get him game and live reps to try to get him ready for this year’s regular. Played 37 games for the Lakers and he gets the dish there from James with the finish. You know, he missed 19 months. didn’t play basketball at all for 19 months after a blood clot issue surfaced in April of 2023. So, good to see him back on the floor. Walsh on the drive. Left hand is good. Jordan Walsh off to a good start. Similar Bonnie James looking ahead. Finds Cole Schlider who’s unable to get the two but able to fire the three. But every time Cole shoots the ball, you think it’s going in. He doesn’t need a lot of room either. No, he does not. That’s for sure. Walsh tossed out of the game against Miami the other day for getting into a Pella Lararsson and he was playing so well. That’s the kicker. I mean, if you don’t get tossed, make sure it’s a a bad game for them. Don’t get tossed. 13 points in 10 minutes before getting tossed in that game with his second technical foul. Out of bounds play. So, the Celtics will inbound. Shogun gets it to Shyman. Shyman not shy. Front rim. Walsh backs it to Swider and he’s on the move. Koko trailing. Euro finishes with the layup. Often times they say don’t throw the ball to the sevenfooter in the middle of the lane. But Koko showing that he can handle himself in traffic. Here’s Hugo Gonzalez. The Spanish product. Spin move. Dumps it off to Williams. Back to Gonzalez and blocked by Koko. Strong defensive stand by Koko. really guarding two players and getting the job done on both ends of the floor. Offensively, the euro and then the finger roll, but then defensively getting the job done, denying the opportunity by Gonzalez at the rim. Williams puts it on the floor, left hand too strong, but Gonzalez swoops in and gets the basket. That’s the challenge that Williams can be. He can absolutely play, put the ball in his hands. four years at Drexel and then of course finished at Kentucky. Had a breakout season this year in the SEC. Gonzalez the 28th pick in the first round for the Celtics. Connect for three. Nothing but net. Nice read by DJ Stewart to find connect in the corner. Walsh no longer the youngest player on the Celtics. He’d been that for two years. Gonzalez is that now. Shogun to the wing to Shyman. Shyman burries one. Taylor Shyman will not hesitate. Hadn’t shot the ball from three very well. Started out only two of 15 in the first two games. Was able to get on track a little more in game three, but never hesitant. Stewart lets it fly. No good. Rebound wins. Walsh thought about it. Dribble hand off to Shyman. Backing down. Schwider. Kicks it to Walsh. He laces one up. Knocks it down. Three ball for Walsh. 6 run for the Celtics. James off the dribble loses his footing and we have a foul. They’re going to go offensive. Offensive foul on Ronnic. Yeah. Did he extend the left arm? The shoulder is legal, but yes, absolutely. Great call. He does extend that left arm. The shoulder’s legal. The bump was legal until he extends that left arm, which gets him the offensive foul at the angle. We were shielded by it the way he was driving, but you could certainly see it on that replay. Gonzalez around the screen going downhill in attack mode and he gets fouled by Koko. Koko in disbelief. Amazing the juice that’s in the building when the Lakers are all and again opportunity to have, you know, one of the best rivalries, if not the best rivalry in NBA basketball here in Vegas. Well, I’d say the best rival. I thought you were going to go in all the sports. I think you can make the case for that, too. Wow. Okay. Yeah. I mean, they’re absolutely right there at the top. 35 championships between the two of them. That is not bad at all. Yeah. So 18 for Boston, 17 for the Lakers. So Hugo Gonzalez at the free throw line. Gonzalez, I mentioned the Spanish product, an explosive athlete. Um defensive ace, long wingspan, 610 and has a lineage certainly in basketball. Family is a basketball family. Played at Real Madrid as a youngster. Didn’t get a lot of minutes there. So people were wondering how well he could actually translate, but he was playing with men in practice. That’s the thing. You develop so much in practice when you’re playing against older players and grown men, especially in such a great program like Real Madrid. Ronnie, nice pass there to Koko. Great feed and the finish. Ronnie’s been sharing the basketball extremely well to start this game. He and Koko have connected on a couple of baskets already. And we have a foul there by Cole Schwider on Gonzalez. You have to close out. Bronny’s been shooting the three relatively well. So you have to close out. Run him off the line. But the nice dish dropping it off in tight quarters. So Koko was able to finish over the top. So Bronny connect checked out for the Lakers. Darius Basley checks in along with Duan Gordon. And we have an over and back. So Lakers basketball. Nice job by Koko really get out pressuring Amari Williams into that turnover and that’s one of the things that Lindsay Harding has made it clear she wants to see from her team is pressuring 94 ft. Shoga, good defense. Bounces off Koko, but Shyman gets there first. Takes the bump. No good. Koko clears. Stewart around the screen. Snaking through the paint. He turns it over. Shyman on the move. He lines one up short and out of bounds. Laker basketball. And we have a timeout on the floor. So, some good action here. Celtics up three on an 80 run. Indiana. Shman with the Here’s Isaiah Wong. They swing it to Loftton who steps into a three. Too strong. Rebound Gordon. But Kenny Loftton Jr. provides a different type of big for the Celtics. You have to be aware of him beyond that three-point arc. Basley lost it for a second. Had a step. Lakers with a two big lineup. Gordon’s got some space to drive. Hangs and connects. Isaiah Wong led the University of Miami to their first Elite 8 and Final Four under Jim Larenga. Back-to-back years. Yep. With another guy that we’ll see, well, may not see playing, but Jordan Miller. Yeah. For the Clippers. For the Clippers. Yep. Both were on those squads. Yeah. And those two guys were truly the leaders of those those squads. So Isaiah Wong was the ACC player of the year. Yes. Even though I voted for Jordan Miller. Well, one of them was going to get it. They were both going to be first team on my on my board anyway. Gonzalez hits it to Wong. Wong drives baseline, pulls up, gots it, got it to fall. And speaking of ACC player of the year, backto-back years, Isaiah Wong and then RJ Davis in 24 was the was the ACC player of the year. So match up between two guys are very familiar with each other. Basisley on the drive and the finish. That’s already more bench points for the Lakers than they had in their last game. Only two last time out. And now of course with Gordon and Basley getting a bucket. I think I think it’s us. It happened to be to Utah their game before. Then we had them yesterday and then they they had a barrage. Even if it’s not us, we’re taking credit for it. Anyway, Loftton. Oh, nice find there, but Norris can’t finish. Davis on the move. Swider open enough to shoot it. And of course it is always open enough to shoot it. He will never hesitate. You give him any daylight, it is going up and most of the time it’s going down. An 11-2 run. Lakers up four. Back door cut. Another one and this time Norris finishes with authority. But once again, Kenneth Balton Jr. facilitating at the top of the key. He made the initial pass which led to the hockey assist. Schwider and a trap. He’s wondering if he took too many steps, but that one seemed fairly obvious. There’s a nice pass there and a second one. Yeah, two nice passes. One from Walton to find Gonzalez along the baseline and then as the defender comes over able to find Norris finishes off with two hands. Kenny Loftton storied FIA career as well. I you and I talked about that a couple days ago. Gonzalez fires for three. Gets that one to fall. Gonzalez off to a much better start. He missed his first seven shots on Monday, but now starting to get into an offensive rhythm early. Gordon on the drive, gets caught underneath, finds Basley, pump fake, show and go. Basisley hangs, can’t finish, and Trey Gon gets in there with the save. Basisley at the free throw line, the spin off the glass, gets the hoop and the harm. Lindseay Harding was talking about Darius Basley saying he is an NBA player and you see his ability of course an elite defender but now as he continues to add to his offensive arsenal he gives the Lakers a one When you Consider DeAndre Aton coming in on the Lakers squad. The center position that they were missing the lob threat for Luca Donic, also the rim protector. But when you look at the numbers, it seems to be a few too many players on this depth chart. I don’t think that everyone there is going to be there when the final roster comes out to start the season. That’s fair. And with Eightton, it’s the talent is there, but the willingness has not always been there. I talked to him actually when he had his press conference and he said he can’t worry about that stuff that you know when he was playing in Phoenix he felt like they were playing for something it was a little tough in a situation in Portland where there was development that was his answer but we’ll see how he plays when LeBron and Luca are his teammates he’s got great leadership around him when you think about of course one of the greatest players to ever play the game and LeBron James also Luca Donuch really gives him that lob threat that allows him to be successful similar to what Chris Paul did for him in Phoenix. Jordan Walsh with the block on James. Isaiah Wong and swinging around. Kenny Loftton on the spin, but a travel. I like those kicks that Kenny’s got on. You know, I’m nearsided. They’re nice. Just trust me. All right. Ronnie averaging 13 points a game in his three games here in Vegas. Interesting to hear Lindsay Harding talking about Bronny playing with the ball and without the ball. That time the facilitator gets right to the rim unable to finish after the spin move. And Trey Gson the third there to clean up the mess. Unable to get it to go. Ronnie looks as though he took a little bit of a knee to the thigh. Lost the ball there, but comes away a little gimpy after that play. He will inbound the ball. Finds connect on the curl for three. No good. Basisley with the rebound. Basley goes right back up with the flush and he’ll get the foul. Darius Basley has been active early in this game and you can see he’s enjoying himself. got the big smile as he gets to the rim. Suga reaching in, smacking, just adding a free throw attempt for Darius Basley, who was not going to miss that close. Basley averaging 16 points at the California Classic, only seven here in Vegas, but a lot of games certainly for this Lakers team. Zone defensively by the Lakers. Basley picking up 94 ft. Nice block by Basley. Think about how much room Darius Basley covered on that possession alone. He picked up Amari Williams 94 ft, goes back and plays the middle of the zone and then gets to the corner to block the shot. This is the type of effort that Lindsay Hardy was telling us about with Darius Basy and how he can truly help the Lakers, especially at that long wing defender position. Miles Norris to inbound to Williams. Williams looked at the rim, thought about it. Good hands by Bronny. Coach Harding like that. 4.4 seconds on the shot clock here. Williams throws the grenade to Walsh and he’s not going to get it off on time. And Bonnie did a great job getting a hand on that basketball, taking away an opportunity for Jordan Walsh to be able to launch the three and more importantly able to do it without foul. Ronnie has been a pass defensively, which is exactly what you want to see. RJ Davis on the pull up gets that one to drop. That’s a layup for RJ Davis. No doubt Williams, you got to be up on that chase action. You got to be there waiting for him to come off that screen. Otherwise, he’s shooting layups in the mid-range. 80 run. Now, it’s interesting because, you know, RJ Davis, as you know, you you’re an ACC guy, second leading scorer in North Carolina history behind Tyler Hanssbro, who’s number one in ACC all time. Number two is JJ Red, of course, the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Good block there. Miles Norris chasing from behind. Yeah, he was about what’s it less than a 100 points behind JJ RJ all the time and and no shade, no asterisk, but R.J. did it in five years. JJ did it in four. That’s fair. Fair enough. Connect finds Bronnie. Bronny on the drive. Loses it. Bridges for three. Way off. Baisy on the run. 7 seconds to go in the quarter. Steal by Bridges. Walsh got time. Goes up. Left hand. No good. Put back, but it’ll be a foul on Basley. Nice play by Jordan Walsh to get to the rim. Sweeping over the top of RJ Davis and going to the reverse. But once again doing the job defensively. Nice move here forcing Basley to foul him. Otherwise he gets a layup to end the quarter. Jordan Walsh averaging over 14 points a game here in Vegas. 43% from the field, 36 from three and 71 from the line. It’s the first That’s 52 regular season games for the Celtics and he gets them within four or five rather excuse me. Ronnie with the heave and that one won’t count on the record anyway. That’s the rule here at Summer League. Bud. Hey. Hey. Hey. active. What’s the key defensively against the Lakers? We need to keep defending as we defend the whole tournament so we going to have success. Thanks for your time, guys. All right, Vanessa, thank you so much. A turnover here. Gonzalez, eight points or excuse me, seven points in eight minutes. Misread there. RJ Davis thought Bronnie was going to the rim for the lob. Bronny was going to the corner. Ends up being a turnover, but the Lakers get it right back. Nice defense there by Ethan Taylor, who checked in for the Lakers. James, finds Davis. Davis penetrates, kicks it out. Taylor fires. No good. Rebound Kendall Brown. Brown and Eric pass. Walsh there to recover and a travel on shoulder. Great communication there by Trey Json. You could hear it here yelling ice, making sure that Bronny knew to send that ball handler down right into a ballside corner that was occupied. So the spacing not the best there for the Celtics. Ends up being a turnover on Schuler. We have a whistle. Looks to be on Shogga. I couldn’t see what they called him on. It was off the ball. Believe it’s just impeding Bonnie’s progress trying to run to a spot. So Davis 10 seconds on the shot clock. Connect drives baseline and loses it. That retreat step, stepping backwards on the sideline often times results in a turnover in comparison to a side step, a crossover step that takes you right to the rim. So George, we’re pretty certain that Bronnie is the most popular player here in the Vegas summer. Yeah. Can you tell me who you think would be second? Well, a flag, right? I would imagine. Maybe Bridges for three. What about Young Hansen? Oh, Yong Hansen. Yeah. Is is I would consider I would go with Flag, too. But Y Hansen would absolutely be a very close second. Yeah, I would agree. 30 members of the media there to cover his game the last time we had him in a playing over in Cox Pavilion as we speak. Walsh directing traffic. 5 seconds on the shot clock. He fires. No good. Bridges comes up with it. Gets it back to Walsh. One more to the corner. Brown lines it up. Knocks it down. Three ball for Brown. To Brown showing that he’s improved on his three-point shooting, especially in those corners. If he can make those shots, he can absolutely be a productive NBA player because he can do the job defensively. Connect off the window, no good and the Celtics are on the move. Brown in transition and he gets fouled on the kick out the shoulder. Often times you see a guy hesitate and really pump fake. They missed that shot, but Kendall Brown locked in, able to knock down the corner three. Continues to show his improvement, especially in the outside shot. Yeah, he’s an athletic wing. Certainly explosive. Great in transition. Tons of versatility on defense, but the offense is a work in progress to your point. And here he is getting on the floor. Finds Bridges. And we have another whistle. and another stepping on the sideline. Again, often times many NBA NBA players don’t have a lot of room. Most guys feet are a little larger, you think. So, when you’re in that space, it’s one you pretty much have to be prepared to shoot the basketball as soon as you catch it. I didn’t have that problem. 12 and a half. Yeah. Not Not so bad. Yeah. Yeah. Turnover here. Intercepted by Bridges to the corner to Shogun. He lets it rip. knocks it down. And that’s the way you have to go about it. Understanding when that ball is headed your direction, you are locked in, ready to shoot it as soon as it touches your hands. 80 run. Going back to the previous quarter. Step back for Davis. Too strong. Rebound batted around and a foul. They’re going to get Williams. Jon, by the way, also shaking his right hand. He’s already got contraption on his thumb and wrist there, but it’s not going to take him out. You’re talking about one of the toughest guys going in Trey Json the third. Gets in great position there. And Lindseay Harding told us they love his activity. Yes. And how big and strong he is. Just want him to work on the touch around the rim. Yeah. Says he’s one of the hardest workers they have in the organization. And you can definitely tell he puts in the work in the weight room. Yeah, there’s no doubt about that. Ronnie intercepted there by Loftton. Hugo Gonzalez directing traffic. Well, he understands that if Kenny Loftton Jr. has anyone except for Trey Gson guarding him, he’s going to have an advantage. Nice rec recognition by Gonzalez to make sure he gets Loftton Jr. the basketball in the post. You see immediately Hugo Gonzalez trying to clear that corner, get Kendall Brown out of the way to allow Loftton Jr. to have the post up against Dalton Connect. James takes a seat on the bench as Swider checks back in along with Ethan Taylor. And this one going the other way. Taylor. Tough pass there for RJ Davis. Waited a little too long on that one. Probably could have given it up earlier. Allowed RJ Davis to make a play. Shyman open, takes the shot. Short rebound connect. Other than a couple quarter threes, Don Connect really hasn’t been that aggressive in this game. There he is now. Throws it up. Wild shot. No good. Off balance there. Shyman stopped by Schwider finds Brown. Dumps it off to Kenny Loftton. Rejected by JSON. It’ll stay Celtics ball. 15 seconds on the shot clock. But that’s the effort that Lindsay Harding was telling us about with Trey Gon the third. Not giving up on the play coming in pursuing it. Clean block from behind as Canoffin Jr. tries to go get two points. Celtics up six nothing here in the quarter at the moment. And Hugo Gonzalez with an errand pass. Yeah, Taylor’s been all over the place defensively though. That has to be at least his third steel. Davis, no good. Loftton comes up with it. They swing it to Gonzalez in the corner. Gonzalez nothing but net. Nice extra pass by Kendall Brown recognizing Gonzalez would have the corner open and be much more difficult for a defender to close out in time. Lakers still haven’t scored in the second. Davis to the corner. One more to Sch Swider. Fly by Swider lets it fly. No good. And we have a foul. Going the other way now. So we’ll step aside. Celtics have regained the lead here 30-26 in Las Vegas. Oh, look. I’m bottomless. Just like bottomless apps for $9.99. with a four-point lead here in the second quarter. And we are joined here by the president of league operations, Byron Spruel. Uh thank you so much for taking the time. Thanks for having me. Always enjoy this time of uh of the summer. You, you know, just coming off of u crowning a champion to the draft and then now the summer league, both California, Utah, and then obviously Las Vegas. So, love to be here. Thank you. certainly these summer leagues, but this let’s talk about this one in particular. It’s just there’s so much development going on. We always focus on the players, but it’s the coaches, it’s the officials, it’s everyone really. Everyone, I mean, it starts really at the at the overall executive office as well. So, GMs, coaches getting an opportunity to work with Sharif Abdul Raheem uh as the president of the GLeague and then all that development element. People see it on the court in terms of the players and and seeing their development, but then also the referees and the coaches as well. And so we love this part of uh the summer to get everybody a bit better enhanced on all the things around the court and and off the court as well. And so it’s a wonderful time. Well, I know Cory wants to talk to you about some rules that you guys have implemented including this challenge that we got here. So apppropo, we’re going to step aside for the moment. Byron will join us on the other side. Ah, ah. There it’s off Kendall Brown. So Lindseay Harding wins her challenge. And Byron Spruel with us here, the president of league operations. So it worked out. I mean, you guys made this rule change a few years ago and the coaches had to get used to it, but everybody uses it now and it works effectively. It’s such a strategy now because you see the back of the bench sort of on an iPad or what have you or tablet that they can look at the uh the elements of the play and and tell the coach whether to go or not and then uh make that decision. And so few different elements this time around cuz now not only do we have the second challenge still in play if the first is successful but even that green light uh we’ve extended it across I mean a finer thing but we just extended across the full uh sort of sideline base there. So it’s uh it always kind of continues to evolve and develop in different ways but we feel good about where the challenge is. They did a nice job of making the right decision there and you want to always get the call right. Yeah, you can’t miss it. It takes up pretty much half the score table now. also. But again, that helps out guys like me who are nearsighted, so it gives the opportunity to see it. But welcoming in two new media partners. I mean, right now, you’ve got to feel pretty good about where the league is moving forward in the next season. Yeah, we we’re very excited. I mean, obviously ESPN staying with us and then NBC coming back and Amazon as a new partner, but that set of partners, it gives us an exciting window to continue to grow and develop the product on the court. Uh there’s a lot of things that we’re doing specifically with NBC like the All-Star game and then also um Amazon with the uh NBA Cup, Emerson MA Cup. So know we got an injury. Yeah, Byron, let we’re going to step aside here as they attend to Darius Basley. Yeah, we’ll be back in a moment. leg of Darius Basley. An unfortunate injury for a young man who’ been playing so well this summer trying to work his way back into the NBA. Yeah, Lindseay Harding very complimentary of Darius Basley. We had an opportunity to talk with her pregame. Coach Harding still on the floor as is the Lakers staff and they will bring out the wheelchair for Darius. The whole arena applauding as he gets in the chair. You feel for the young man for sure. an unfortunate situation certainly for Darius Basisley and the Lakers. play will resume here in just a moment. We’ll resume our conversation with Byron Scul. Byron, you of course are have a lot to do with the wounds of our game. Now, there’s a rule now in the G- League and it’s also being observed here at summer league. the three seconds for under keys, right? Where at the end of quarters, now you go back and you look at, of course, Nicole Joic, who, you know, coaches have said he would probably lead the league in three-point shooting percentage if he didn’t throw the ball 70 ft at the end of every quarter, but he actually makes some of those. He does, and it’s exciting to see it happen. Is that a rule that we could possibly see at the NBA level at some point? Possibly. We uh as you said Cory have tested now in the G-League for this will be the second season coming up and then certainly wanted to see it here in the summer league as well. And what we’ve seen the basic change is that you’re going to not be a a personal miss field goal but actually a team missed field goal. So it incentivizes the guys to actually take more shots at it. So people like Nicole and others have been really good at that. And so we’re seeing almost a 50% increase of them just because of that minor change. Yeah. people like me who used to wait to hear the horn before you let it go to make sure you didn’t mess up your shooting for status right and not that mine was great anyway didn’t need those misses yeah but we we hope to see more of those coming and Cory had had asked you I I don’t know if we were able to actually finish the conversation about the new partners coming in uh because we had the unfortunate injury with Darius Basley just more of your thoughts on on that and you know Amazon coming in NBC to join ESPN Yeah. Yeah, it’s again it’s exciting window in terms of opportunity. It says a lot about what those partners think about the game uh and what we’re doing globally around the game. And so we’re excited to continue to enhance a lot of the Encore product as a result. A lot of new perspectives coming from Amazon and as I say they have uh uh rights over the NBA Cup and so we’re doing some things that’ll be new and different around there. Um, of course we got the NBC on the u uh All-Star game and they’ve got Olympic coverage coming in and out of the All-Star game in S in LA next year. So, there’s some things that we’re really looking at to to enhance the international elements of that perhaps. You’ve heard Adam talk about it a bit, but we haven’t finalized the format yet. We’re working with the PA Andre and David uh Kelly on that and should be uh coming out with some things soon that we got to get by the board. You mentioned the NBA Cup. It’s been two now. They’ve been in Las Vegas and look, I think it’s been a success. I mean, these teams have played hard in these in these games, these cup games. And certainly once they get to Vegas, they want to win. Uh, not only for uh pride, but I think the money helps too. I I think particularly for the guys who don’t make a lot of money, the veterans want to win for those guys. We had Giannis, I called it on radio for ESPN radio, and Giannis uh, you know, just gushed about how important it was to win for some of those younger guys, right? How do you guys view the cup moving forward and is Vegas a spot that will continue to have the cup? It it’s been exciting to see that now we’re going to see the third year with Amazon, but but yeah, actually Amazon having it. But the the element of that that’s been so important is that early in the season now you’ve got some great competitive games, guys playing for uh the the the cup, but also the money aspect, too. And so for us, it’s been great to see the Lakers, to your point, you know, LeBron and his team the first year u going through that process and then Milwaukee last year. But another thing that’s been interesting is this year’s champions. It was a runner up to challenge the rolling of an offensive interference. Well, so the Pacers and then and then obviously OKC. So it was good. Byron, a pleasure to have you. Thank you guys. Thank you so much. the president of league operations, Byron Spruell. We’ll be back. There’s a challenge on the floor. We’ll have the review in a moment. Mom, look what I can do. No, Mom. Look what I can do. Tada. Toasted roast beef and cheddar from Jimmy John’s. Warm French bread, melty cheese. Speaking of toasted. Hey, pal. Looking crispy. Toasted sandwiches at Jimmy John’s. Oh, that’s good. We need it again. from 1099. Heat. Heat. 40 Lakers 35. Now, let’s get to some of the best sights and sounds of Las Vegas summer league. Welcome to the NBA 2K26 Summer League. We’re just getting underway from Las Vegas, Nevada. Yep, we’re used to it. Temperatures at about 110 all week, but that doesn’t matter because come inside, the basketball is going to be super chill. Remember that guy, Victor Wmanyaba? Cooper Flag will be the a big number one pick coming in this year on target. Guy’s been in the building all afternoon. When Cooper finally gets in the building and his Mavericks play, I don’t know, can he take it to another level? Cooper is the new flag bearer for the procession of new faces coming to take charge in the NBA. Welcome to the league. Cooper flag Las Vegas, Nevada and one of the most highly anticipated, highly debated runs of the entire summer. It’s the Lakers against the Mavericks. Liddell all over the step over. He gets it up for the win. Booay with the booya. The Bucks win on the buzzer. Peter. Go. Philipski driving. Mix on the base round to fade away. Oh wow. For the win. It’s just fun to be out here, be with the guys, enjoy Vegas, and and get to know these guys and and just have fun hooping. Oh my goodness. Yo, he cut. Here we go. I love it. I love it. Nature’s bounty. Your bones are four times as Heat. Heat. N. Are you a The pressure has been great. The physicality has been great. Just get a rebound. All right, you’re good. Watch him come back in. Just wait. Just wait. Ball pressure. Go get a steal. Go get a steal. Active hands have been great. Okay, way to execute. Great cut. Great screen. They’re good. Everything’s live now. Everything’s live. Everything’s live. Everything’s live. Read it. Let’s be aggressive going for the ball. Okay, let’s be really aggressive going for the ball. All right, finish the half. Finish the half. All right, and that’s our sounds of the game. Lindsay Harding, the coach of the Lakers, Matt Reynolds of the Celtics. Baylor Shyman, tough night thus far. One of 10 from the field. Bronny not looking for a shot, trying to get his teammates involved. does have several turnovers. Yeah, he’s got six turnovers. Started off the game distributing the basketball very well. Three assists for him, but the second quarter was a turnover field quarter for Bronny. Both of these guys in their sophomore season in summer league. Both their respective teams are going to need much more for them to try to get a win here in game four. The leading scoreer for the Celtics, Hugo Gonzalez and Jordan Walsh. Both at 10 for the Lakers. It is Darius Basy unfortunately who left the game due to injury. Had to leave on a wheelchair. You feel for that young man for sure. You really do. And of course playing so well in this game as Bonnie distributes once again. Drops it off for his fourth assist to Koko in the rim. He heard about that uh conversation we were just having. He wanted to make sure he get on the right side of him. He’s locked in. I’m sure Lindsay told him at halftime, hey, you got six assists. You got to be a little more careful with the basketball. Yeah. Amari Williams blocked by Koko and Jordan Walsh knocks it off. Nope. Able to knock it out of bounds. Thought for a second it might have been off Koko. Bronnie now the primary ball handler. Coach Harding talked to us about how they would go back and forth between Bronny and DJ Stewart as to who was on the ball, who was off the ball coming out to start the second half. Well, she talked about their similarities as well from a game perspective, too. Ronnie takes the bump, gets the hoop, and his first field goal of the game. But similar play that we saw from him in the first half. However, he did not extend that left arm, so doesn’t get offensive foul. Gets a bucket instead. Two positive plays for Bronny to start the four. One-point ball game. Williams with a wild shot and they’ll call a foul on the Lakers. So, here’s Bronny in action. The shoulder’s legal. So you see as he lowers the shoulder but doesn’t extend that left arm able to dislodge a defender by using his upper body strength and then the soft touch to be able to get his first basket of the game. Koko picks up that foul for the Lakers. So Amari Williams will go to the free throw line. Koko has five fouls and in summer league if you’re just tuning in and you’re new, you get 10 fouls at summer league before you foul out. I’ll tell you what, we saw something you rarely see. Two guys for the Celtics on one knee at the exact same time tying their shoe. Yeah. And almost synchronized. Yeah. Jordan Walsh and Hugo Gonzalez on both sides of the floor and got up right at the same time. Almost as if they planned it. I saw a lot of people while Hugo Gonzalez was warming up. Hugo Spanish faithful were in attendance. Yeah, they going to get a violation on DJ Stewart. Stepped inside that three-point line. Amari Williams will get another opportunity. and Sam Cassell over here talking messing with my guy DJ Stewart Y throwing them all off his concentration of course Sam with the Boston Celtics one of the greatest talkers of all time right goodness we go back to doing this in college he was talking a lot in in our college games back at Florida State UVA for you of course Sam I am look forward to seeing him get an opportunity sometime soon as a head coach has paid his dues. Absolutely. James loses it, but a whistle and a foul on the Celtics. So that’ll be on Schulga. You know, this game had a great rhythm to it in the first quarter. It has not had it since. An errant pass there. Stewart able to recover. James dribble drive and throws it away and intended for connect in the corner. Now Dalton was not in the corner actually. So a seventh turnover for James. He was kind of around the sideline there. Did Bronnie throw the ball to the corner? Is that where it went out? Yeah. And that turnover should be D connects. Again, there space when you talk about spacing. There are spots on the floor where players should be able to throw blind passes and know where their teammates are. So Bronnie threw that to the corner. That turnover should be on connect for not being in the right spot. Nice play there by Stewart. Gets that one off the glass. Notice how often Dave Fre Oh my god. He complains about everything. Disagree everything I say. How does Mike Green work with you? Like seriously, Mike Breen must be a saint. So let’s see that where where’s the spacing? So the rule is you get to the corner and Dalton Connect is not there correct at that point. That again of course as my guy Dave Free lets me know how an official official scorer would not know that unless they’re familiar with the game of basketball. Here’s on the Now they connect. Yeah, now they connect. Nice. He was in the right place at the right time. Yes, he was. Yeah. So Stewart gets it to connect there. Schulga throws one up. He gets the foul call on James. So Dalton with the strong finish. Stewart. Great pocket pass. And I like the aggressiveness by Dalton. connect, finishing with two hands at the rim, has settled for mostly jumpers throughout this game, but this is a multifaceted scorer. He has a lot in his arsenal. And Lindsay Hardy, talked to us about that. You know, they want him taking specific shots and not trying to do everything, but at the same time, cutting and finishing at the rim will be part of his offensive back. Let’s check in with Vanessa. Yeah, she said he’s a shooter. We want him to take the shots we feel are best for him. We want him to get some shots up on the move, similar to how JJ played in the NBA. She said the Lakers like the ball in his hands to deal with that pressure. They would like him to hone in more defensively. And that coach Harding said is truly a work in progress, guys. And and again, I understand that completely, but JJ was doing that in high school. Again, I mean, he was born with that. So to be able to shoot off the moves like JJ Reick is asking a lot of someone and again, Daltton Connector is a lot bigger than JJ as a player. No doubt when you when you consider bigger, broader, but JJ’s footwork was so elite to be able to sprint into shots. But I watched JJ play in high school. He was doing that thing. And by the way, JJ, we’re not saying you didn’t put the work in the weight room. Just the kids bigger than you. Okay, so relax. I know you’re probably at home. Absolutely. Throwing something at the TV. Duke, what are you talking about? He can lift weights down there. Sha on the drive. No good. Williams scoops it up. Gets the loose change. Can’t get the put back. Gets his own rebound. Drops it off. Shoga again to Williams and this time Williams cashes in. But give Koko a lot of credit. Really standing the test of time in the painted area, but a leak out after a made field goal. Nothing bothers coaches more than that to give up a layup attempt after a made bucket. And connect trying to find his offense certainly while he’s been out there. The shot is not falling the way it had been previously, but California Classic had a real good game, but it’s been struggling a bit here this summer in year two. Summer league action continues tomorrow on NBA TV. ESPN and the ESPN app on NBA TV tomorrow. You got Dallas and Orlando kicking it off at 4 Eastern, 1 Pacific, followed by Philly and Brooklyn, Utah, Chicago, Denver, and the Lakers in the night cap. So, Bronnie checks out. Dejuan Gordon checks in for the Lakers who is a main stay with the South Bay Lakers. Dalton connect at the free throw line trying to complete the pair and he does not. Maybe a broadcaster jinx. Well, I didn’t say anything so I I’ll agree with the broadcaster Jinx. I blame it all on you. Gonzalez on the drive to the corner. Shyman for three. Shyman gets that one to drop. And Shyman hasn’t shot the basketball extremely well either here in Vegas, but good to see one go down from three. Dean Gordon tries to answer. No good. Shyman has been pretty good playmaker though for sure and good on defense. Finds Walsh. Walsh pump fakes. Now Shyman will reset here. Seven on the shot clock. Gonzalez loses it. Bordon picks it up. Headed the other direction. Gordon gets fouled. Might have gotten bailed out there as he looked to be in some trouble. We got a four-point ball game here in Vegas. Queen and Liam McNeely this year, but Asa is a elite athlete and I think he fits right in with the Atlanta Hawks and their style of play. I think he’s going to be a very good and productive professional player. He certainly has a tremendous skill set. Now, Mont Bird is a factory. I mean, you went to a factory, too. I don’t know. You know, it’s I absolutely did. And and we still have more McDonald’s All-Americans and draft picks than any other high school. Yes. Just making sure that you get that out there. Make sure the obligatory mention about the resume. Walsh for three. No good. Tapped out. Isaiah Juan saves it in the back court. Celtics back on the move to the corner. Loftton. One more to Wong. Steps into a three. Wong burries that one. And that hasn’t been his strip. Shooting the three has not been his strength, especially at the NBA level. So Isaiah Wong putting in the work, able to knock down a big three there to stretch the lead out for the Celtics. ACC on ACC here. Wong and Stewart. Lot of ACC flavor in this game though. No doubt. Loftton knocks it away for the moment. Stewart regains it. Swider on the baseline, loses his footing and a foul called and Jordan Walsh can’t believe it. Yeah, it’s a bailout especially that late in the shot clock to be able to foul with zero point anything on the shot clock and especially when you said they shooter like oh spider to the line. Spider with the pump fake tries to go around Walsh trips him up. You say that wasn’t a foul. I mean, it’s just a tough call. Like, I get why he’s upset. I mean, it is a foul um by the letter of the law, but it I get why you’d be annoyed by that as a defender. Yeah. Well, especially as the shot clock’s running down for sure. So, Schwider gets the first free throw. Schwider second time with the Lakers. He was with them in 2022. Was on their summer league team. Played for them a bit. Then Miami won a summer league ring last year with Miami. walked down the hallway with him after halftime and I told him, “I like seeing you in this Lakers uniform.” He said, “Yeah, it feels good to be back.” Played with Miami for a bit and then to Jordan Toronto as well. Even though Dave Free has me on my restriction of calling people my guy, Cole Swider, my guy. Okay, absolutely. Fair enough. His little brother’s one of the coolest guys on Earth, too. By the way, Dave Freed, by the way, for the audience at home, is our statistician extraordinaire. And I’m I’m surprised he’s not keeping track. This the first time I’ve said it today. It is. It is. It is. And and uh he uh normally works with Mike Breen, which is why you may have heard me say earlier, why does how does Breen put up with you? Yeah, he’s a handful, man. I tell you, I love him, but he’s a handful. Jordan misses the front end here. Jordan Walsh. Not happy about it. Is Dave Freed one of your guys, Cory? Yes, he absolutely. Oh, there it is. You made it. He absolutely is whether he wants to be or not. That’s it. Loftton with the put back. Kenny Loftton the offensive rebound really just using his body and again when you can when you use your body against Trey J the third you are absolutely as strong as can be. No doubt. Oh nice hands. Yeah. But gets the foul there. You know that’s so difficult as a guard trying to handle the basketball around big guys especially when they have the long wingspan. If we get a replay of that, I’m not sure that Kenny often actually foul RJ Davis. It’s tough to handle the basketball ball around big guys with with significant wings. Here’s Trey Json on the dribble. Hand off to Bry James. Stutter step floater is good. No mutter. Oh, and Bronny getting back, hustling back, getting the steal. Swider steps into a three. Oh, in and out. rebound Jes and he gets fouled underneath. No, they’ll say jump ball. Okay, let’s look at the Bronny basket. Does the wrist flick? You’re such a stickler for this. I am. I normally I’m pretty good at because I’ve worked with you so many times. I mean, and and I could be wrong. Let’s watch the wrist. The right wrist. Boom. Flick. That is a runner. That is not a floater tear drop. It could be a tear drop. You could go tear drop or push shot. But for the young people at home, understand that if the wrist breaks, it is either it’s not a floater. It’s a runner, tear drop, or push shot. One of those. Yes. Yes. Floater has to be off the fingers. Has to come up. The wrist cannot flick. Right. Because anything with the wrist flicks, it is some type of shot. Okay. Walsh going the other direction. Walsh with the hammer. Seven-point lead for the Celtics. Walsh with 12. James picked off again. Anticipating Jimson cutting to the rim, but he couldn’t get out of that screen fast enough. Another turnover with Bronny. Loftton for three. Loft. That one. He’s got that in this game. You’re talking about a young man who has a NBA careerhigh 42 points. Had that in April of 2023 against OKC. And don’t short change him. had 14 rebounds in that game, too. Jes comes up with the rebound there. He’s trying to fight to get that one up and he gets fouled by Loftton. Did play 15 games with Memphis that season. Loftton, two-time allconerence USA at Louisiana Tech. And we had discussed earlier, but we didn’t get into the details. You know, Loftton, a decorated FIVA under 19 player. Played against Chad Homegrren and versus or excuse me, played with Chad Homegrren at times and against him as a younger player coming up and played against Wimby too. He really was the guy that was the difference maker in the USA versus France matchup that included Wimby and Victor Wimyama which of I mean and Chad Homegrren which of course the rivalry exists between those two players but when you think about Kenneth Loftton Jr. Wimby couldn’t deal with him. His size, his strength. Yeah. On the block. He was getting everything that he wanted in that game. Over and back on Isaiah Wong. Great job defensively by RJ Davis picking up the pressure. And that’s what Lindsay Harding wanted to see from her team. 94 ft pressure, forcing turnovers and contesting every play on the defensive end. 10-point ball game here and it’ll stay. This one getting a little physical. Yes, it is supposed to. It’s the Lakers and Celtics. Absolutely. Supposed to be physical. James on the inbound. Oh, and an offensive foul on Jes. That’s where you just tell the official, it’s not my fault. I’m just bigger and stronger than he is. That is fair, right? Walsh on the move. Dumps it into Loftton. Loftton finishes with a two-hand jam. And the Celtics have done a great job recognizing the mismatch. Anytime they see JSON guarding the ball that they know that Kev Loftton Jr. has a mismatch on the interior, he did a great job of getting him the basketball. James with a nifty move and a finish and gets the foul call as well. Bronny James crowd to their feet and Bronny showing a bit of his bag. the nice finish after the beautiful move to get to the rim. Crossing left to right and basketball over, but you see he’s starting to be more aggressive on the offensive end, attacking the basket as of late. So, James will go to the free throw line, shooting 80% from there here at Summerly. And that one swirls home. So Lakers down by nine. Look at Loftton initiating the offense, showing off his skill. A little UCLA cut. Tell you what, Isaiah Wong having to set that screen on Trey Json the third. I’m not sure I want to be the point guard having to set that screen. Some screens hurt worse than others. You think who was the guy that you were like, “Oh, I’m not in front of that guy.” Oh, yeah. That there. That’s the easy answer for your That is it. There’s no doubt. Run cross five. Got to go set that screen for David Robinson. Might as well not even get in Sha’s way. And a foul on Jes. And a technical ones. Is it technical because he put the ball on the because shouldn’t that be a delay? And Lindsay’s asking the same question. If he puts the basketball on the floor, that should be a delay of game. That should be a technical foul. Unless it’s the second. I don’t remember the Lakers getting a delay early. I don’t either. So Wong gets the technical free throw. Josh Reed him up. He didn’t say anything. It doesn’t look as though he said anything negative. He just pushed the basketball down. That’s a delay of game. That’s not a technical foul. Now Wong at the free throw line for the foul call. So he’ll shoot one more. The standup guy that Trey Json is, he pats himself, says that’s my fault. Yeah. taking accountability for it, but I don’t think he deserved that. And Juan gets all three free throws. James gets the screen from Jes. The switch on to Loftton. Six seconds on the shot clock. James penetrates, muscles one up, gets it to go. James will go to the free throw line as well. Nine in the quarter for Bronny James. Like this version of Bronny James. He’s not going to the basket looking to pass the basketball. He’s going to the rim looking to be aggressive and trying to get a bucket. And when you can score with Kenneth Loftton Jr. hanging on to your arm, you’ve got some strength. MVP chance for Bronny. And he completes the three-point play. 10 points for Bronny all here in the quarter. Two minutes to go in the third nine-point ball game. Shyman on the curl pocket pass to Loftton and an offensive foul. Yeah. And I tell you what, that was a tough hit. Dean Gordon took it. He was out of control often, too. There’s no doubt. And I saw a play earlier that looked similar to this and they went over to look at him. That elbow to the face. I’m shocked that they’re not going to go check this one out. Yeah. Oh, Gordon stays in it. So, nine-point ball game. James across the timeline. Shyman guarding him. James on the step back for three. Wide to the mark. Rebound. Loftton. Norris gets it underneath, gets stripped by Gordon, and it’ll stay Celtics ball. 16 seconds on the shot clock. 122 remaining in the quarter. Ronnie James limping off the court. Looks like uh his legs as he’s grabbing at one of his knees. Trainer comes up to him. Shogun the curl. No good. Davis comes up with it. Davis weaving through traffic. Pocket pass. Too hot to handle for Jes. Shoga on the run. Finds a Norris trailing for the dunk. But you remember Lindsay Harding talking to us about wanting Trey Gon to work on his touch, meaning his hands. That pass will deliver perfectly from RJ Davis. That should have been a dunk for Trey. Swider to Davis. Davis push shot no good, but a foul underneath. Now Davis is down tending to his left ankle. Yep. grabbing at it after landing on the shot attempt. We just saw Bronnie James exit the game and you watch RJ Davis. Oh yeah. He landed on Kendall Brown’s foot. All of his body weight coming down on that left leg. So Davis will go to the free throw line. The foul on Shoga. That’s Shoga’s fourth. Davis on the miss and that’s rare. all-time leading free throw shooter at the University of North Carolina. Doesn’t miss many when he gets to that spot. The 2024 Jerry West award winner for the top shooting guard in the nation. Gets the second half of the two free throws. A foul on Connect. Yeah, they get to get out the floor. And of course, they needed him to shoot those free throws. If not, he could not return. So, 10-point ball game. 43.6 left in the quarter. Shyman on the drive, penetrates, throws up a wild shot. No good. Swider with the board. A lot of responsibility now for DJ Stewart with both RJ Davis and Bronnie James nursing injuries on the bench. Stewart’s going to have to be the primary playmaker. So, 14 seconds on the shot clock. Six second differential game clock. Shot clock as we close the third here. Jes on the handoff. Good hands by Shyman. Stewart able to come up with it. Connect now lets it rip. Short rebound. Kendall Brown. 5 seconds to go here in the quarter. Schulga step back for three. No good. And that’ll do it for three quarters of basketball. The Celtics with a 10-point lead here in Las Vegas. Ronnie James exit 10 points in the third and taking on Kenneth Alton Jr. for the and one. And on the other end, Jordan Walsh finishing it off in style. The Celtics with a 10-point lead. People who come to Cricut stay with Cricut. Likewolin. Bonnie as well, four of seven from the field, 10 points, four assists. Would that be a question for James Jones? Is Is that what we should ask about that one? How about we don’t rat the kid out? Let’s just let let him He just told the entire world. What do you mean rat him out? We don’t need to further the conversation. And there you go. Stewart sneaking in the layup there. Trying to make his pocketbook any lighter, man. Let the man’s word speak for itself. Jaylen Bridges on the step back. Lines it up. No good. Rebound J. Stewart trying to create room there. Gets the screen from JSON to the corner. Deu good and lines it up. No good. Rebound Shoga. Amari Williams on the run. Amari Williams with the finish. That was a very slow developing fast breakout. However, still effective. Hey, listen. Nobody’s timing it. just got to get out there and score. As long as it’s within the 24 seconds, you’re good. RJ Davis looks to be headed to the locker room, by the way. Stewart for three. Way off and the foul there on Cole Schwider. Unfortunately for the Lakers as we watch RJ Davis head back to the locker room. Ronnie James at the scores table. Looking as though he’s coming back into this game. So great to see that from Ronnie who lift off the floor at the end of third quarter. Ronnie was heating up in that third and having a few words to Tyler Murkovich about a call that was just made that he felt he should have gotten earlier in the game. Kendall Brown on the inbound. Celtics going to work here. Scholga turns the corner, drops it off for Williams. Williams rejected by Koko. Williams gets it back. Working in the post. Left hand is short. Gets his own rebound and finishes it this time. And Koko disappointed with his teammates that no one else came in to get the rebound after he defended very well against Williams on the first two attempts. Loco gets the hand off to connect. Connect going downhill. Left hand is good. Nice drive by Dalton. Connect. He’s had success going to the rim. Has a shot the ball from the perimeter very well, but is a multifaceted scoreer. Has more to his bag than just shooting. And Brown swoops in there and scores. It’s about an aggressive play you’re going to see from Kendall Brown early in the shot clock going off the bounce scoring over top of the outstretched arm of Klo. 12-point game. Lakers are going to need to make a push. They want to pull this one out. Celtics in control here since the second quarter. Connect is open for three. No good. And Swider knocked that one out. Nice find from Bronnie. Got connected. Very good look. unable to get it to go. But you can see these guys have played a lot of basketball together. Have great chemistry between them. And again, passing is in Bronny’s DNA. So you you’re not surprised when you see him drop off a nice behind the back dime like that. No, I I certainly saw that. I called one of his high school games on ESPN 2 with Paul Biancardi when he was a junior. It was Sierra Canyon, his high school in LA against LeBron’s old high school, St. was Vincent St. Mary. He had, I believe, 17 points that night, but also you could see the defense and the passing back then. Well, what I saw in high school actually was the shooting. He came to the McDonald’s All-American game and he shot the basketball extremely well. Made five threes during the game and which was a highly contested game. Isaiah Carer, who’s with the Utah Jazz, DJ Wagner, who’s still in school at Arkansas, and Bronnie put on a show, as well as Reed Shepard in that game. Jordan Walsh, left hand, wild shot, no good. Bronny can’t finish there. And it’s going the other way. the Lakers in disbelief. Koko still trying to make a case. I would like to see Bronnie show some more of that athleticism on that possession. His left hand as he lets that go is above the rim. That’s one he most likely could have just dumped and walked away with the bucket. Loftton lines one up, knocks it down. So skilled. Kenneth Loftton Jr. is an NBA player. It’s simply about finding the right fit for his skill set. But he is a guy that can be productive in this league. Largest lead for the Celtics. Swider tries to answer. He does. Back to a 12-point lead. Nice read by DJ Stewart once again finding Cole Swider. And as you mentioned, he doesn’t need much space or much time. What a move there by Gonzalez. Great cut. Started up toward the basketball, then the back cut. Catching Swider off guard. The pace is intensifying here some. Swider lets it fly again. Can’t get the bounce. Connect gets in there. James comes up with it. Gonzalez gets a hand in there. Ball batted around. Swider comes up with it. Koko turnaround is good. Oh, an easy one after a made field goal at McGill and a kiss to the crowd. But a heads up play by Kenneth Loftton Jr. recognizing Jordan Walsh never crossed half court. So the easy cherry pick windmill for Walsh. James from the corner. James connects. Three ball for James. An 11-point game. Shogun off of James. Yeah, not intentional. So that’s not a kick ball. Stewart gets pumped by Gonzalez. We got an 11-point game. The conclusion coming up here from Vegas. NBA 2K26 Summer League is proudly sponsored by NBA 2K26. Rated E for everyone you Heat. Hey. Hey. Hey. Heat. Heat. later on, Cory. So, the Warriors are playing the Raptors. If the Raptors win, they’re in. So, if that happens, then the Clippers would need to win by 20 to unseat the T-Wolves in the fourth position. So, if the Raptors win, they will be the three seed in the tournament portion of this event. A two-hand jam there by Koko for us, but we’ll keep an eye on what’s going on at the pavilion. And another assist for Bronny, who continues to attack the paint. And of course, dad LeBron number four in assists all time. Already the all-time leading scorer. He will pass Jason Kid for number three this season at some point. How many is he short of of Jay Kidd, you know? We’ll have that for you in just a moment. There you go. But want to mention Baylor Shyman at the free throw line. Chris Paul passed Jason Kidd of course last season when CP signed with the San Antonio Spurs. I was actually with Jay Kidd and he said, “I know exactly what he’s doing. He’s trying to pass me up. Going to play with Wimi. He’s going to load up on assists all year.” And of course, Jay Kidd was LeBron’s Olympic teammate and was an assistant coach for him on that championship team in 2020. And now Jay Kidd’s got Frank Vogle, who was the head coach of that team for the Lakers. With a beautiful move with a nice fake to throw Loftton off balance, but Kenny Loftton continues to be a facilitator. And the Celtics are not slowing down at all. Jordan Walsh with the answer on the other end. Walsh has been incredibly impactful in this game. By the way, the answer to your question, LeBron is 507 assists behind JK. 507. Yeah. Okay. That’s a significant year dropping Dimes. And of course, Braun, who was playing a lot of point before the trade for Luca Donic last year. It’s like seven a game. That’s pretty much I kind of pencil him in for that one. Ah, no, no, no. Don’t do that. Well, if if he plays the requisite amount of game, well, think about this. Luca has been much more of the primary ball handler with those two guys playing together. Braun was averaging over nine assists per game before Luca came. Oh, D3 wants to bet you here in Vegas. And we’ve got a whistle here. So, Stewart Excuse me, James rather. Foul on Hugo Gonzalez. James misses the front end. Coming up on ESPN 2 at the conclusion of this game, the Denver Nuggets square off against the Los Angeles Clippers. Cory, you and I will have that game. And we had some games during that playoff series this year, a series that went seven games. A lot of exciting finishes between those two squads. And of course, the Clippers playing for their playoff lives here in the Las Vegas summer league. One of three and 0 teams playing tonight trying to get into that semi-final. Ronnie the leading scoreer here now. 16 points for the Lakers. On the other end, Jordan Walsh has 17. Gonzalez on the drive. slotted away by Koko. That was about as easy as it can get for Koko. His fifth block of the game and throwing that one into the Celtics bench. He read this one the entire way. Gonzalez has to understand the big fella’s not going to just let him have two points. And connect tips that one. It’ll remain Celtics ball. 16 seconds on the shot clock. 314 to go in this one. Boston leading by 11. Loftton with a nice move and finish around Swider and a timeout. Oh no. Or do we have a tech? Yeah, I believe we got a technical foul. It’s going to be on Kenneth Loftton Jr. Little trash talk and something to say to Cole Swatter after the bucket. And how about Christian Koko really trying to console Kenneth Loftton? What seems like Oh, really? No, he didn’t say anything to Spider. He was talking to the official saying that he should be shooting a free throw after that play. And we did learn that it was something verbal that earned Trey Gson the technical foul. It wasn’t putting the basketball down. So again, we saw the replay. Whatever he said, he didn’t turn in the direction of the official and say it, but the magic words. Johnny had a step for the moment, but lost the handle. James surveying, finds Stewart. Pump fake, steps into a three. In and out. Rebound. Shyman. Gonzalez. Can’t finish, but gets fouled by Koko. He wants a challenge. He says he got all ball. I They got body there. Yeah, I believe it was a more body than ball on that one. I don’t think And another technical this time on Koko and Koko was trying to console Kenneth Loftton Jr. when he got the tech. However, Loftton not so concerned afterwards. All right. So, we’ll step aside as it looks like the Celtics will be shooting a technical free throw. Koko having words with his coach. Not happy about the officiating. We’ll step aside. We’ll be back in a moment. Wish you could apply for a credit card that won’t ding your credit if you’re declined? With your big financial friend, you can. Hey. Hey. Hey. That’ll be coming up on Sports Center here on ESPN. Dame going back to Portland. How about that? I love it. Shams broke that story earlier today. Yes. Going back to where it all started for him. Gets the rehab this year. Yes. had my family Chanty Bilips on the other night and one in the in the Portland game and Dame going back to play for Chanty. Actually played one year with Chanty and Chanty’s first year as the head coach in Portland. Love and most likely Dame doesn’t play this season. Yeah. Well, they’re definitely not until late season rehab year, but you know, I love Dame going back home and to a team that is much better prepared on the ascent. On the ascension. Yes. Um, so Shamza’s story is just Chanty played an intimate part in Dame’s return to Oh, I’m sure. Yeah. And again, you know, Chanty didn’t want Dame leaving the first time, right? He wanted to continue to build around Dame, but Dame didn’t feel like they had enough to be able to contend. Well, he was right. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, a young team, but once again, I mean, we’ve learned it time and time again. There’s no place like home. We’ll say that the Milwaukee experiment didn’t necessarily work. It just felt like him and Giannis never really connected on the floor the way you would have thought it would have worked. Well, often times they were both injured. I mean, again, and they weren’t healthy at the same time. So, that was part of the reason. If you go back and look at both playoff series. Yeah, in that regard. Yeah. But talk about the regular season, too. Yeah. It just they never vibed in the way that I thought it was going to be seamless, to be honest with you. So, 14-point game. And a foul here on the Lakers. Loftton picks up the foul as he’ll go to the free throw line. That one on Connect. Kenneth Law Jr. working on a quadruple double. 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and eight fouls. Yeah. Well, I don’t know if he’ll get there on any of those other than obviously he’s already got the points, but but I’m with you. He’s an intriguing guy. There’s no doubt. He really is. That one swirls out, but Walsh in the right place at the right time. Loftton gets it and gets fouled again. The shot won’t count. No, I believe Matt time out on that one. We welcome in our audience also watching us on ESPN 2. Georgeado, Cory, Alexander, Vanessa Richardson with you here. Celtics leading by 14. So we get to be on both right now. We do. We are simal cast on ESPN and ESPN 2. That is correct. Can’t ask for more than that. Jordan Walsh, leading scoreer for the Celtics, 17 points. He’s got five boards as well. Their first round pick Gonzalez with 13 points and he’s got five boards, a couple of assists as well. Ronnie James, 16 points, five dimes for the Lakers and a number of guys, four on each side in double figures. Here’s Bronnie James’s day here in this one. Well, it’s been a productive second half for Bronny. He started off the game being more of a distributor, finding Christian Koko a number of times at the rim. But the second half, specifically the third quarter, 10 third quarter points for Bronnie, attacking the basket and showing his strength right at the rim, finishing through contact. Has continued to play very good basketball here in this second half. have an efficient six of 11 from the field. 16 points for Bronny James. So, a good run here in Vegas for Bronny. They have one more tomorrow as do the Lakers, but it’s been the Celtics night. Jordan Walsh has been fantastic. As I mentioned, he’s got a plus minus of 13, the best plus minus of anyone on the floor tonight. And he has made his impact felt on defense, which you expect, but offense, too. His offense has been rounding out. Austin again goes up top. That one deflected by James, but Gonzalez gets it. And a 24second shot clock violation. You know, the best thing Jordan Walsh has been able to do tonight is stay on the floor. Only 10 minutes last time out. Had 13 points in 10 minutes, but was ejected from the game. Vanessa’s got a little more on that. Yeah, Walsh got tossed in that game against the Heat. After the game, he said it was a dumb decision. He said he had also forgotten about that first technical he had, but then he got a text from Joe Missoula. Walsh said, “Yeah, Joe told me he loved it. He was texting me like, “I love this side of you.” He’s very Joe Mulla, guys. Well, listen, I tell you who didn’t love it. Brad Stevens, who was right in front of him when it happened. You could see Brad’s lips, Rita’s lips. He’s saying, “Jordan, Drew, damn.” Air ball there for Loftton. But look, that’s Joe, man. Joe loves physicality. Joe loves guys. I mean, listen, Joe is an MMA guy. Like, he loves mixed martial arts. He loves the physicality. He’s actually said in the past he’d be okay if they were fighting in games like hockey. Uh but Joe is an incredible coach and certainly a fun character for sure. The loco misses there. James with the board and he puts it back. So Bronny now at 18. Yeah, Missoula one of my favorites to chat with during the season for sure. It’s definitely never going to be a boring conversation. And you’re going to learn something new. Yeah. Well, he’s going to challenge you on stuff, too, which I like. He doesn’t really challenge me much normally. I mean, again, I believe I ran into him after Virginia lost in the NCAA tournament last season. And the first thing he says is 41 points. Wow. By the way, challenges doesn’t necessarily have a negative connotation when you’re conversation. No, I love talking with y’all. So, we’re winding down here. Austin. 3 seconds on the shot clock. Will he hoist it from three again? Nope. No tape. The shot clock violation. Stewart’s inbound to James. James will hoist short. Stewart will launch this one and gets that one to drop. And that’ll do it. The Boston Celtics victorious
