Semi-Finals | Lithuania v France | Full Basketball Game | FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2025

Hello, good evening and welcome back to Heraclean Greece. It’s the FE under 20 basket game day six semifinal, the battle between Lithuania and France. Well, these are the results from today. Israel and Greece winning classification games. They will battle for fifth place. Italy meanwhile winning against Serbia. So they have progressed to the final. And the winner of this game will meet the Italians for the title. The loser will face Serbia in the battle for third place. Well, rosters change from year to year, but one thing has become a commonality for France. They’ve made it to the final for the third consecutive year. They won it the last two seasons, the last two summers, and now they are two steps away again from another title. Uh but to get there, they’re going to have to beat very good Lithuania team and nobody uh will be looking past Lithuania in this French side. That much is for sure. Both these teams have plenty of talent. Both of them showed some really good basketball in their quarterfinals. France really uh had to dig deep uh to make it this far, but they did. And uh for a while it didn’t look like they’re going to win in their semiinal against the Greeks, but they they made enough plays. Greece did not down the stretch. And here the French are. And for for Lithuania, well, they overcame a talented Slovenia team that was coming off an emotional overtime win over Germany. And while they had some dips in their play in that game in that fourth quarter, they came out and just really took it to their opponents, Slovenia, and won comfortably in the end. Uh they won an 8567 in fact and meanwhile Greece uh fell 72 to 70 to France. Just showing you how close that game was. And in that game, in that game for France, in fact, uh, balanced scoring attack led by Raman Don with 18 points. Anyway, we’re going to have the national anthems for France and Lithuania. Heat. Heat. Happy The best time. Great moment for these teams battling in a semifinal of a FIA under 20-year basket. unforgettable day for all those involved. Even for those guys that are going on to play for the senior team one day. Once they hang up their shoes, they move into that transition into that new life, they will reflect fondly, look back fond on their time with these youth national teams and the fact that they played in this big game. Julio Cesaraya from Panama, the crew chief in the middle, Blasu Panchic from Slovenia, and Alberto there on the right from Spain. getting the call for this game. Starting five for France. Peter Mtorvich Wilson Jack Bastian River Petrus and Roman Dolbo Kane Pen Mala Leon Marvel Vo coming off the bench. Muel Kristoff height drawing up some plays right at the end. Mantis Yazenus, Armandis Van Savages, Nikas Snuknes, Gantus Fishowskis, and Alexis Bellowskis in the starting five. Uh, a lot of good players coming off the bench for Lithuania. Ra Pelis obviously really big inside. is also very important for this team. So, Italy winning 8578 over Serbia to advance to the final. And the winner of this game will meet Italy in the final tomorrow. There he is. Derek Sunila, the head coach of Lithuania, former national team star, played long time in the NBA after his standout career at Wake Forest University. Other players coming off the bench for Lithuania. They’re going to be crucial. Yokovas, Ruditis, Propelis, as I mentioned, Kanowskis, Laren Chicas, and Lasuscus. Good evening everybody. We’re underway from Heracleion, the semiinal at the under 20 Euro basket between Lithuania and France. And Ezenus comes right out and strikes from downtown for Lithuania. D truce. Oh, that’s throws the basketball underneath the basket onto the backboard and let’s see here. Hits off the support bar. Whistle blows and what have we got here? Yeah, a foul. Past River only played three minutes against Greece. Not sure what happened there. He’s played a lot of minutes in this tournament. I don’t know if he got sick, if something like picked up a niggling injury. That was in the quarterfinals, but here he is in the starting five tonight. Three-point shot. And again, using well, he’s not shy. And we saw this from him in the quarterfinal as well. He started fast. Ilian Petrus took it deep, misses and well right on Q. Mashovic gets it to go. And how about that? A dunk got free. Van Sevish. Fast start for the Baltic team. Dru puts it up from a long way out. Rattles out as Stovvic with the rebound. Lets it fly. Rebear tries to get it. Jacques comes up with it. Petrus did a lot of his damage driving to the basket in the first meeting and Max Savage just called for the foul. Yeah, that’s uh Greco Roman foul. Wrapping them up getting ready for the take down. Jack. Oh, little jump hook. Impressive from Jack, who hit those crucial free throws against Greece late in the game when it looked like France were going to cave in right at the end. He came to the rescue. Didn’t do a lot of scoring, but the scoring that he did was crucial to put it mildly. Oh, nice no look pass. Putting it up and in. Good job, Bellowskis. Come on. Oh, shifty dribbling from Jamal and then he scores. Impressive stuff. Oh my. Oh, that is what you call eyebrow raisingly. Good stuff from Roman Dal. Visionowskis trying to stick with him. Picks up the foul. That’s a thankless task. That might just be the best move of the tournament from this guy, number 77, who’s had some some big moments at this under 20. remember he played for France last year as well. So he comes in as a defending champion. And it’s always always great news when you have a player that was there last year back in the team one year later. Suknney to the corner. Vanavishkis and the three-point shot is good. The big fella can shoot it. started like a house on fire from deep. Three threes already. Gus, there’s Jacqu battling and Re comes up with it. Dom short long rebound to France. Masjurovic good strong move inside and that was a push. Good job, Kushinowskis. Well, maybe not a push, but foul on Mastovich. Stonus has come into the game. Number eight. Also, Raulless who wears number 10. Watch Raulless. He can he can block some shots. He gets his hands up. Doesn’t get the block. He affects it. Jack goes out and Jame Leon comes into the game. He had that quick fire, 11 points in the quarterfinal. Leon in the first half and now it’s going to be French basketball. Oh, Demon showing the handles today. Oh my. We saw him with the crossover dribbles and now we’ve seen him go behind the back to free himself. Wide open Krishnanowskis. Rebound Lenicas. And now another miss. Raulless goes for the rebound. Doesn’t get it. Now Petus like a bullet out of a gun. Gets it up the floor. Takes it in. Ties the game. the son of longtime France national team star Floron Petrus who must be watching this game. Here’s the rebound Don and De Mo fouled a long way from the basket by Stonkas Ilian Petus playing at that guard spot. His dad was more of a power forward, highf flying. He must be beaming with pride to see his son in this in the French shirt. Rever from three-point range. Leon with the rebound. Laton is a sevenfooter but agile and the really causing problems with his ability to put the ball on the deck. Here it is again. Look at this. We’re seeing something from number 77 just with the foul. So De Mo makes the first free throw. Comes in averaging 12.6 points. 6.6 6 rebounds, 3.8 assists. His three-point shooting hasn’t been great. Just made five of 28 in the tournament coming into this, but shooting almost 54% inside the ark and 78% at the line. Here’s a turnover and it leads to a break and an unsportsmanlike foul called on Lechus. A good miss from Rebe. It makes a difference having him out there. They really missed him the other day against Greece. So the unsportsmanlike foul and Gristine makes the first. Excuse me. That’s Mea. Killian Mae makes the first and the second. Evon Boyd also in the game now 97. He’s going to inbound it. Here’s my way of receiving it and going up and scoring. Nice pass, Leon. And good defense knocking it out of bounds. That was Pier Justine with the bucket instead. Excuse me, I’m getting my way and and Piers Justine confused. Apologies. There’s Vivo. Mouse pass outside to Leon. Got it. the three-pointer. I mean, that is a soft touch for a very, very big man. And Daryus Ong’s got his work cut out. 22-13 France striking back with a vengeance. They trailed early. They were down 8-2. And since that point, they’ve outscored the Lithuanians 20-5. Well, Lithuania last won this title back in 2012. They did reach the final in 2016 and fell to Spain. And they also reached the final in Port Karicha in 2022. Also fell to Spain in that one. But France have made it to the final the last two times in Heracle in here in Greece and also in Gdin and Poland last year and won it both times beating Israel and Slovenia respectively. So let’s see what change if any Lithuania make. Baron Chica brings the basketball up the floor. Guarded by Boya Gona and Bowskis not afraid to put up a three. That’s two threes for him today. Wow. shooting them like Arurus Carnishus. And there’s a miss shot. Oh, Marus goes down like a clump. Dribbles in. Nowhere to go. Nowhere to go for that young man. Per picks up his first foul. Fo was also there preventing any progression. Ruditis checks into the game. Number seven for Lithuania. Stalis is going to inbound it. Laren Chicas Melowskis. He has got a really fine looking shot, doesn’t he? missed it. Using this steps back, gets it up and makes another shot. It’s his third make. Third jump shot. Three of three from deep. Passes to Boyd. No, he doesn’t. Excuse me. To Ma. Ma drives in, scores, banking it in. Michelle Mea just looking like he’s at a different level. And over and back. Great defense offered by Francois Vivo. Kind of feels like France have snuck up on teams in this tournament. They’ve gotten better as it’s gone along. Vivo shot clock. Wow. Down to three. Bur puts it up. Ivan Bur short. Look at the hustle from Vivo. Saves it in bounds but gets it to Lithuania who now have a chance to go on the break. Stonus and he is fouled right at the end by Pierre Justine. And the only reason why they call that foul is the reach. But it looked like on the reach he had all ball. But that’s just the the way the the cookie crumbles. Sometimes you’re going to get those calls to go your way. Sometimes you’re not. But the referee sees the reach and he’s thinking he’s going to call that foul. I think that foul’s probably called more times than not. Stalkus very important in the grand scheme of things for Lithuania. Makes both free throws. Power forward. had 15 points against Lebania, hit three threes. So, there’s plenty of offense in this Lithuania team. Question is, will it be able to function against this French Der takes it deep from deep, fouled, shooting the three. Wow, can’t take away the landing space. Kelly Meo makes the first only have four points in 21 minutes against Greece. missed all six of his shots from three-point range. He was two of 10 from the floor. Was not his best game of the tournament. In fact, it was probably his worst. They also struggled against Slovenia, but there’s no doubt about his talent. Makes two and three. France keep possession. Justine goes up and banks it in overus. Seven-point advantage. Stucknes tries to get it to Bioscus is knocked away into the hands of Leon. Oh, look at the handles from Vivbo. Bounce pass. Perstein in the French Lebl machine is on a roll. 30-21 getting a transition. Looking locks in. lets it fly. Man, what a shooter. His fourth three-pointer and it comes right at the buzzer. Wow, that’s a player for you right there. 12 points for him. But it’s France that leaded 30-24 at the end of one. So three-point shots keeping Lithuania in it. They’ve made six. France just one three. But look at inside the arc. 10 made shots for France. Just two for Lithuania. Well, you’re watching the under 20 Euro Basket semifinals. The winner of this game will face Italy in the final who beat very hard playing Serbia in the first semi-final of the day. You know, watching Melowskis knock down those threes. He had hit four of 12 coming into this this game. So, he’s definitely got that in his repertoire. And really most of Lithuanians are dangerous from three-point range. Well, France turn it over. Exciting stuff here in Heracleion on the island of Cit, the biggest of the Greek islands and quite sunny these days. Oscus missing it from deep this time. Got to love the ANC and all the basketball on offer. Sand Sun basketball. Everybody who takes it deep, passes it back outside. A three-point shot. Here’s Justine misses. And now chance for the Lithuanians and using a suit. Has hit four threes. Just looking for some space to launch another. This time he’s going to drive in. He’s going to get it up and he misses. He got a good shot. Good work, Bellioskus, getting it back. Oh, terrific defense. Bur taking it away from Stuknese right at the end. given is now going to check out with Ilian Petru coming back into the look at that. He knew the shot clock was about to expire. Kane checks in for the first time today. Mantis is going to sit down. He’s going to catch his breath. Did not expect him to be out too long. Oh, nice turn. Like Ma was going to have a serious move. Great work, Maui to keep it alive. And that extra effort from Mauea gets the basketball to Vivbo who puts it up and in. Watching this French team, it’s all about maintaining that intensity on both ends. Good handling of the basketball by Stonkas. Three-point shot from the corner is good for Lithuania. And Stalis letting you know that was a three. flashing the three the three digits to a five-point game. Petrus forces one in and it’s going to go over to Lithuania. Well, that was tremendous effort from the guys coming off the bench for France. Laren Chicas has it. Archicus. Oh my. Are you kidding me? How in the world did he get to the basket there? Dribbling and then even shooting with his left hand. Man, that was elite stuff. Time out on the court. 7-Eleven remaining in the first half. Heat. Heat. 46. So coming out of the break, the timeout, foul called. Living screen on Mauea. And another turnover against Lithuania. 650 remaining in the first half. Tell you those blows that France landed, you’d think they’d be up by more than three points, but Lithuania have been dogged in their comeback effort. Bringing the intensity, bringing guys off the bench. Look at that great hustle almost getting the steal. Len Chicas Rebear gets it down low to Jacques. Back outside to Rebe and then he’s tied up and a jump ball is called. Great work by Lawrenicas. Just great defense moving his feet being strong. And an offensive foul using that was his first Come on. Over the shoulder pass. It looked like it was going to be too late. Jack’s done a good job to stay competitive with it. In there battling away for the basketball. It’s going to be Lithuania basketball. Lovich comes back in. Lar Chicaas goes out st comes back in number nine. Really felt like all four teams in the semi-finals had a chance of uh of winning the title. No clear favorite and both games have been highly competitive to put it mildly. Very scrappy. Come on. Look at the handle fill. This time his traction gives way. Fortunate they didn’t turn it over. Petrus using this. They get over to Ria for three. France battle, but it’s Pilowskis that comes down with it. Now the pass almost stolen, but great catch. And look at that. Raalis gets his first bucket. And now it’s a one-point game. Three-point attempt. Got it from Petru. That was big. Janowskis takes it into the paint. Puts it up and in. Boy, what a serious basketball move that was. Went right at Murvich who looks like he’s going to maybe come out after catching a little bit of an appendage to the face. Stalkers comes back in. just hit a three. Fijian had that terrific drive. Nice pass. What execution in fact Mtorvich stayed in the game and it’s a good thing he did because he scored. You can still see he’s kind of moving his tongue around his mouth to make sure he’s got all of his teeth. Entry pass. Kristenowskis outside for three. Got it. Lithuania closed the gap once more to one point using five three-pointers. Using his five threes. Looks like he maybe has some blood there. So, he did catch. Yeah, he he got some he got smacked in the in the face. I mean, I don’t think it was dirty, but I mean, Christians drove in, so now he’s got to get the blood seen, too. That tonk comes in. I don’t see the referees looking over and saying, “Oh, you okay?” Just playing on. It’s a physical game. Stonkas open floor avoids Kane. Bounce pass. Oh my. Great stuff from Lithuania. You got to love the pace of this game. Gets in, misses. They battle for the rebound. Kristianowskis hauls it in and Raulus is claiming he was f or excuse me, it’s uh using this. Well, I think he saw the foul coming a little too late. Otherwise, that would have been three free throws. Boy, we have seen some serious toughness from this Lithuania team after they fell behind by France. They have come back, come out swinging. Stuknes. Oh, great defense by Vivbo, who’s been terrific on that end. He goes up and he’s fouled. Stuck getting his hands on the ball. And this is definitely a game good attempt to get the block and the steal by Stuknes. This is a game where the defense defensive plays uh can end up winning this thing. I mean, you got to you got to have guys like Vivbo that come out and can change the momentum. And that is a momentum changing steel. He’s got to go to the line and make the free throws. Westcus comes back in number 77. It does make the second. So, it’s tied 38 apiece. This to me really boils down to which team wants it more. Which team is tougher? Which team is going to get after it? Look at that. The steal. Almost an unsportsman like no. But Petus goes in and lays it up and in. Stalus flirting with an unsportsman like Petus able to get away. You’re always kind of holding your breath, I think, if you’re the coach after a turnover like that because you want to stop them, but you definitely need to play the ball. Five turnovers for points off turnovers for Lithuania. six second chance points for France. 11 points from turnovers, nine fast break points, 12 second chance points. So in those important stats, they’re winning and that has to be disappointing for some guy that his team just gave away two points. But all credit to Petus having a great game today. He’s got seven points. Got 11 against Slovenia in the opener and then four against Iceland in Serbia. Got 16 against Belgium in the round of 16 and 11 against Greece. So it’s not necessarily the scoring for Petus. It’s all about his uh physicality, his quickness. toughness, uncompromising play. That’s how you have to be. That’s what he does in this French team. Now, Dare say it’s probably something that he has learned from his dad. There’s a ball on the ground. You got to get after it. business whips the pass to Bellioskus who gets free goes up and misses a dunk and Syla just must be thinking uh just do it old school you don’t have to dunk it gets it back to Petus short and Kane gets the rebound found guarded by Euzenas. Great D from zeros. Not just about his threes, it’s about his D. Kinowskis drives in maybe a little bit out of control. Vivo goes for it. It goes out of bounds. Well, you can see a lot of these Lithuanians graduating to the senior team. I mean they have got the mentality. They are fighting and just checks in. Number four now Stonus. Nowhere to go. Good D from Kane and Van Savage just catches it down. Oh, he almost had a chance for a three-point play. Look at this. Draws the double team and that leaves Van Savages. And he’s fouled by Vibo. Well, this game is, for my money, has been worthy of a final. As hard as both teams are playing right now. They’re going to be tired when they go to bed tonight. The winner, they’re going to have to rally and come back tomorrow. Well, that’s a break for Franceia missing the dunk and now missing a couple of free throws. Under two minutes to go in the first half. Come on. We both shot clock about to expire. He’s got to get it up. Beatress doesn’t get it up in time. So that’s a turnover and Mauea comes back into the game. Number 23. Bubbo has played as hard as anybody in that French team today. He goes out of the game. Visionowskis, he’s been tough. He’s going to take on Petus. And he travels. drives in, scores, and he’s fouled right off the bench. He shows the Mauea. Look at that. Stalkers picks up foul number two. Eight points for Ma. does not make the free throw. He’s now 46 at the line. Leon switches to get the pass to the corner now to the wing. Stalkus from way downtown. Wow. This the first wedge first wedgie of the game and it’s the first wedgie that I’ve seen at this under 20 Euro basket. That ball possession error goes to France. Mi again takes it in. unsuccessfully and Petrus. Not a good foul. Well, you’re trying to play physical. You don’t want to put him on the line. Somebody get that guy a water bottle. He’s been working hard. Stalkus makes the first. And the second Not sure, but I think I saw his dad sitting there in the stands. 4240. 30.4 seconds remaining in the first half. Timeout France. Well, if you’re watching this on YouTube, join the chat. Like to hear what you have to say and see the fan that has dyed his uh goatee the Lithuanian colors. That’s pretty impressive. Also Instagram and X formerly known as Twitter. You can send messages to NextGen Hoops. Of course, you can always go to pee up basketball as well and check out the official tournament website. Under 20 basket always delivers year after year on excitement and and trust me, these tournaments are so important for national team programs. And for the players themselves helps them get better. They get to go up against the best. A lot of people watching who’s had some good moments. Leon for three. Well, they took it relatively early. Lithuania now with a chance to tie or take the lead at halftime. Oh, and it looks like Oh, the pass goes out of bounds. And now France. I don’t know if that was intended for Raulupos. So, France will get the last attempt unless they turn it over. Gus gets it to Don who puts it up from a long way out and that is it. One half is in the books. 4240 France on top of Lithuania at halftime. Well, France just two of 14 from deep. They’re losing that department, but eight more shots made inside the arc than Lithuania. And also look at the free throws. Eight of 11 for France. Just four free throws made for Lithuania. It’s 42 to 40. The French on top and leading scorers who has five three-pointers for Lithuania. Billowskis has a couple threes as well. He’s got eight, stock of seven. And you can see who’s doing it for France. 42 to 40. What a night of basketball ahead of his folks. This is what it’s all about. He’s been all about thriving under pressure. You have to prove that you can finish. high three. Marcelonus driving in the lane and off the bonus. What a rejection. It is undeniable. They win the PB basketball title. Come on. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, Hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey. Heat. Heat. 42 to 40 France on top of Lithuania at halftime in the second semifinal of the under20 Euro basket. The winner of this game takes on Italy in the final tomorrow. The loser will go up against Serbia in the third place game. We are in Heracle in Greece on the island of Cit. And this is going to be 20 fun competitive minutes to determine who plays for the championship. Second half action underway. Essenes pansowskis and bellyowskus on the court for Lithuania. And using comes right out and does what he does all the time. Hits a three. Unbelievable performance. Six of seven from deep. 18 points all from deep. Mashurovich. Jack Kane Don and Boyd on the court for the French who now trail missing. Jacqu with the rebound tries to go back up and he’s fouled by Bellowskis. No, he’s fouled by Bishious. Third foul number four. Oh, what do we have here? Do we have a technical foul? Yes, we do on Gizenus. Oh, wow. What a loss of composure by Mantis Yenus. And Done misses the free throw. Now Jack, who hit the crucial free throws in the quarterfinal win over Greece at the end of that game is at the line. First one ties it and the second one puts France back in front. He started at center. He’s not out there really for his scoring per se, but he does tend to score when it’s very important to do so. Here’s a drive and sto lays it up and in off the glass. Oh boy. Gives it to Matt Stovvic. He’s in trouble and then he throws it away. Fishowskis drives in and how about that finish? Looked like the Statue of Liberty flying through the air and then he puts it up off the glass. The ball fouled by Krishnanowskis. Savage has three fouls after picking up that one, but he’s the only one in foul trouble. Ezenus has at that technical foul is not good timing for him. Stonus also has a couple. Ezenus has two fouls. So, Belliosk is fouled by Jacqu Leong now comes into the game. for Jack. Little runner for Suknice and dangerous pass as France try to push it up. They finally get it to Ivan Bodua. Stovich passes up the three, puts up a little floater and the follow from Leong. Not good. Will it be his third three? Nope. It’s short. Ian Bodor. Come on. Look at the handles. Now steps back and this time does it work. France starting the second half cold. Look at that. The referee’s got to chase it all the way to the exit to get the basketball back. 650 remaining in the third quarter and tough take by Lawrenas. earns him a free throw line. A free throw. Couple free throws and Savage takes a seat. Our Chica makes the first makes one of two. He’s got three points. And they tried to get it down low to Mastovich, but Raulupus able to get his hand up, deflect the pass by taking a beating. Look at this. So Kane goes out. Vivo comes in. Lenicas passes it back outside. Threepoint shot is good. Another three for Lithuania. They’ve got their biggest lead of the game now. Seven points Christians three-point shot has been huge for Lithuania. 10 of 17. Ivan Puur. Done from deep. Got it. Well, that was big. Big and brave. Stonkas takes it all the way. It’s blocked, but a foul called on Majorich. There’s a three-pointer. So Petrus and Mala check in for France. There’s Sgala standing up chewing his gum. Intense. Wow. Stalkus. I would have said that was going to be automatic makes, but he misses. Made his first four. He goes for five. Petrus not able to get it to Leon. And that three no good. Ma three-point shot. Got another one using his 21 points. All 21 coming from three-point range. What a performance. starting to look like the potential MVP of this tournament if he keeps this up. Phenomenal. Well, as we got the timeout, you go back and you look at what he’s done in this tournament tournament using he made three of six from deep against Greece in the opener, one of four against Romania, one of seven against Czecha, two of five against Poland, two of seven against Slovenia. He came in averaging 11.6 points, 4.8 eight rebounds. But today he has taken it to a different level. He’s seven of eight from three-point range. And Lithuania have their biggest lead of the game, 5547. Good drive and finish not there for Petus France now in danger of falling even further behind. Better get a hand up in the face of number zero. Here he is. He was ready to unleash it. Nice pass Raulupus. And they’re not going to count it. Traveling. I think Raulus thought he was going to the line for a three-point play. Well, the best thing that France have going right now is there’s a lot of time. Lithuania have not let their guard drop. And there’s Vivo with the charge. No, excuse me, with the moving screen on Leuscus. France now over the limit with 412 remaining in the third quarter. The dump. Raalis goes up strong. Gets it to fall. 10 points the advantage. Think France might need to get a little bit of size in there on that low post. Bring Jack back in. And that miss Pier Justine. That’s a tough one. So that reach and that foul called on Mae now puts Lithuania on the free throw line leading by 10. And it’s Stonkas that goes up to take him. Remember, every bit, every point becomes the biggest lead now for them. It’s 11. Now 12. A lot of family, friends watching the game up in the stands for Lithuania. Feeling very hopeful and they should be. They’re up by 12. Nice pass, the cut, and Don hangs in the air long enough to get the bucket, excuse me, uh, Laren Chica number 25. Entry pass. It’s great defense by Tom and they hand it off and Pier Justine goes up for the dunk and makes it an eight-point game. This is where they have to get themselves back in it with their defense. Get some easy opportunities. France and Lithuania called timeout. Everybody. Everybody. Esenus with 21 points leading Lithuania. But right now France starting to show signs of a comeback. This time using shows he’s human by missing. But the ball falls to Lithuania and Lowen Chicas puts it up and in. Aea spins, turns, puts it up. They battle for the ball. Stays at this end. Come on. Goes in, gets it back, puts Oh, can you believe it? A second wedgie this time off a layup. France France will maintain possession. Lithuania’s defense got to give them credit. They have really been battling. Come on Petrus for three. And if Lithuania turned France into a jump shooting team, it’s not going to look good for the French chances. I really don’t think that’s their strength, France need to get some some pressure and some turnovers. They’ve got to win at this end for sure. Using us for three. Heat check again. This is where they can go now. France if they get in the open floor. Much better. Great job, Weibo. If the Lithuanians set up on defense, it makes it awfully difficult for Lebl. Oh, and Vivo. Oh, they call the fouls. Stalkus goes down. More free throws. Good call. Puts him on the line. Just stalkers tonight. 10 points. He’s seven of eight at the free throw line. Lithuania eight of 12 at the strike. sits down. Van just comes back in. The winner of this game will face Italy for the title. Stalkus makes another Well, he came into this game having hit 11 of 15 at the line and that has improved marketkedly. He’s now nine of 10 tonight. He could end up shooting more free throws and making more tonight than he had in the entire tournament. 11 minutes and change left in the game. Weo keeps it, gets it up. Oh. France just do not look polished in the half court offense, but a lot of that has to do with the Lithuanians playing defense. Three-point looks or missing and Bellioskus whistled for the foul. as checks back into the game. France looking for some inspiration from somebody in the half court and they get it to Vivbo and he is fouled. So, free throws coming for number three. Not sure who the foul is on. Oh, Belliosquez. That was generous. And we misses the free throw. Lithuania looking very formidable right now. Vivo does make the second. So it’s 6354. I mean, a lot can happen, but French coach is going to have to come up with some type of adjustment to get his team going offensively. Look at Stonkas drive in now. They battle for the rebound and an offensive foul called to get it back to France. Yeah, he was outside the circle and Stalkus charges into Kane. Stonus now has three fouls. Bishious has three. Stalkus has three. And that’s all the foul trouble for Lithuania. Four fouls. Vibo has four fouls. Three fouls on Jack. And that’s the foul trouble for France. The final 20 seconds. Every possession big now for for France. J truce. Ma goes up. Misses from deep. 2.6 seconds left and the three-point shooting just not nearly as good for France in this tournament. Nor especially tonight where they’re just three of 20. Stonus has to get it up quickly. He does. Three quarters in the books. Lithuania 10 minutes away from playing in the final. They lead it 6354 against France. Well, that that is the big difference. France superior inside the ark, but eight more three-pointers tough to overcome for Lithuania. That’s been part of the story of the game. Big part of the game rather. Matis Yosenus, seven of nine from three-point range for Lithuania. And the French offense grinding effectively to a halt at least in that third quarter. Lithuania outscoring France 23-2 in the third quarter. Tell us what you think in the YouTube chat. Stonus, Tuknney, Raulus, Krishnanowskis, and Bellowskis on the court for Lithuania. and Lithuania turn it over charging St. It’s the second time we’ve seen Lithuania charge into a France defender just outside the keyway, outside that semicircle in the last couple of minutes. Mastovich, Kane, Pier, Justine, Mea, and Marville on the court for France. Haven’t seen much from Marville. Wow. And stepped out of bounds. Lillian Marvel where is number 45. So getting some minutes here. First minutes of the game. Stuck to Bellowskis. Almost lost it. Jacks up a three. Oh, what an attempt that was. Here he is. Marville drives in, gets it to go. Finished with the left hand. It looked pretty good doing it. Now down to a seven-point game. Three-point attempt from Stalkus. No good. Little bit of momentum shift here. Expect a Lithuanian timeout if France score from the baseline. It’s good. Well, they’re not going to call it yet. That was Ma and all of a sudden it’s a five-point game. I would definitely expect a timeout if France scored on the next one if they get a stop here. Took has it to the corner. Good. Another three. And this one from Krishnanowskis and the lead goes to eight. Just a phenomenal shooting display by Lithuania. Marvo France needing Marville to be a Marvel and Lithuania rebounded. Kane with the foul. My way sits down. Sugnney to Billykus. Shot clock down to eight. Stalkus from deep and putting up a lot of threes in this fourth quarter. And Marvel get to the basket again. Gives it to Deon. Remember France have not shot it well from deep. And here’s Marvel lost control. Stunkus stuck rather. And free throws awarded. This Lithuanian team just is relentless getting after this French team. The man with the Lithuanian flag colors and his goatee gets fan of the game for me. That is an amazing achievement. He should be applauded. Yes, he should. And he is stuck at the stripe. Italy awaits the winner of this game. faced him in the final tomorrow. He goes back to 10 trying to run a semblance of offense. Almost turned it over and Marvel’s shown that he can score. looked like he maybe need to dump it down low, but instead he took the shot and he made it. Trance would love to force some turnovers and get into transition. That’s where they’re at their best. Gizen almost lost it. Stuck drives in and now here’s where France can run. They got to go quick. Marvel fouled. It’s only the second team foul. Player of the game without question surely with his 21 point scoring. He’s He’s not passing it too much, but he doesn’t need to when he can shoot it the way he does. Come on get to the corner. Three-point attempt. A rare three falls. Theo Pierre Justine and he’s got 11. And France pulled to within five points again. And Bellowskis prone. Has he hurt his knee or his ankle? Oh, he turned his left ankle. He stepped on using his uh left foot. So Gus has gone out there. He’s like, I can’t afford to lose you if we win this game and not have you tomorrow. some guy doing a little bit of coaching while he’s out there. Well, is going to be getting some treatment. Meanwhile, Briopoolis comes into the game. Offers a different type of low post presence. Maybe not as potent offensively, but certainly defensively very good. That is a huge shot from Stonkas. Kind of stops the momentum of the French. Here’s Justine. Unsuccessful that time. These guys have really played hard today. You can see Lithuania using this a little tired. It’s been a long tournament. And another three. I think that helps that helps France if Lithuania aren’t going to make France move on defense. And you just wonder if Lithuania might be getting a little tired at this end. 446 remaining. Marvel drives in. Great recovery. There’s the put back and it doesn’t go for me. Well, that was good rotation and going for the block. So, I guess that gives you the answer about whether or not they’re tired. No, excuse me. Christians and Len Chicas is fouled. And that’s it for Vivbo. He has fouled out of the game. Important free throws now for Lowen Chicas. France looked gassed. First one is good. Low Chicas makes the second. Time out on the court. Well, Lithuania, you look back at what they did. They opened this tournament with a 19point drubbing at the hands of host Greece on July 12th. Yet while rebounding against Romania 106-66, they then fell 82-79 to Czecha. Then in the round of 16 they faced Poland and won 8473 and then in the quarterfinals they won against Slovenia 8567. So, this Lithuania team, I think it’s fair to say that certainly early in the tournament, it wasn’t looking like a team that was going to get to the podium. But here they are just 4 minutes and 18 seconds away from playing in the final if they can put away France, the two-time defending champions. Aea drives in and scores. Big play out of the timeout. back in the game guarding Len Chicas. Now he switches passes it down low. Great block from Dom, but they called the foul. Raulus. Yeah, got him on the right arm. So, Ralupas very impressive in the quarterfinals with his uh energy and defense. Looked like he took exception to that reaction from Don. Now he’s missed the free throw. There’s the MVP zero ejunist if they can hold on. Riopouloolis makes one of two. It’s an eight-point game. Tremendous rising to the occasion by Lithuania here against France, having done so as well in the quarterfinals. And Mauea missing at the stripe. Just France kind of looking like they’ve run out of ideas in the half court under three and a half minutes remaining. It’s an eight-point game. Lithuania taking time off the clock. Look at that explosive drive. Laenas takes it up to a 10-point lead. Oh boy. Petus almost turned it over. Fell down. Now to them all spins, turns, gets it up short. They battle for the rebound. Petrus Petrus rather gets it up and it’s Stonkis with the rebound and now Lithuania can take even more time off the clock. Chance of Leuva Leuva in the stands. Three-point shot using his misses. He’s definitely come back down to earth in the second half. Here’s Justine. Spins, turns. I think he wanted to get tried to get to the basket to the uh to the backboard and ended up taking a difficult shot. Well, Lithuania, the last time they won the title in the under 20 year basket, 2012, and it’s looking like they’re going to have a chance to play for the title. Good box out. Marville 151 remaining. France in need of a miracle and a foul called. So, Marvel will go to the line. Lithuania did play for the title as well in Porita in 2022. Uh but they lost to Spain. Lost to Spain in that final. Oh, 6961. Last year, Lithuania had a good tournament. They got to the quarterfinals and they ended up finishing fifth. That was a That was a an entirely different team and an entirely different coaching staff as well. So, it’s a new experience for all of these guys. Here’s Marvel. Tough ask for France down the stretch. He has been effective Marvel coming in in the fourth quarter, but these are his first free throws. It’s one of two. It’s a nine-point game. France will be ever so keen to force some turnovers. France do not want to foul now. They’ve let a lot of time go off the clock. Stonus misses. Offensive rebound. Raupalis and they pass it back out for a new 14. Three-point shot and Riopolis again goes up for the rebound. It’s going to be French basketball. Well, it remains to be seen what’s going to happen with Velioskas, but going up against Italy, if they make it to the final, which it looks like they will, um they’d love to have him. He’s obviously one of their better players. Marvel puts it up from three. Goes down. Lithuania with the rebound. And Lithuania folks are going to win this game. France on the offensive end just not quite as polished as they need to be. Raulupus takes his time and scores. Takes it up to an 11-point lead. final seconds ticking off the clock here. They’re going to go and they’re going to get Oh, they’re going to miss a dunk. Well, don’t go away. You never know. Oh, and this is not a good foul. What is Lithuania doing? Stonus. Stalker is telling his coach, “Hey, look at this. I just caught an elbow.” If you’re Lithuania, you don’t want to miss dunks and you don’t want to foul to stop the clock. They are going to review it and see if an elbow has been thrown. Well, France led by as many as nine in this game. See if Petrus, it would have to be intentional for them to uh for Lithuane to get any joy out of this. From that angle, it looks like maybe he could have done something. But see if you can see it from here. To me, it’s not clear from th from those pictures, but from right here, it looks like something could have happened. Yeah, it definitely kind of uses his right arm. Question is, is it unsportsmanlike? This will be interesting. Yeah, they don’t call it. I don’t doubt that Stalk has kind of got something to the face, but this is a little, you know, this is uh so this stops the clock. If, and it’s a big if, France can make some free throws here. Cut it to 7771. It’s two three-pointers away. I’m not even sure they’ll go for a three though if he did make it. He does make it. So, it’s two three-pointers. Oh, that was this that was there to be taken. And France knew the pass was coming across and Marvel just could not quite get there in time. Three fouls on Mauea. Kind of that crucial right now the status has been earning a living at the free throw line tonight. Nine of 10. He has been excellent at the strike. He has been Arvdas Masioskus excellent. Well, almost. Masioskus I don’t think missed. So he makes the first and the second. So, he finishes 11 of 12 at the stripe, or at least he is 11 of 12 at the stripe. And the lead goes back to eight. And it’s important to remember that France, uh, if it, you know, they don’t come back and win, which it looks like they will not, they’ve still got a game to play tomorrow, the third place game against Serbia. That’s the really tough game to play. You have to get over the disappointment of losing the semi-final and falling out of title contention. Rouse yourself, get ready, and go out and try to try to get to the podium. It’s always better to finish a tournament with a win than a loss. It goes without saying. Basketball is a religion like a religion in Lithuania has been for a very long time. It’s probably one of the first things parents do is when their kids are born, they just put a basketball in the crib. And the going for an alleyoop there is denied. And then Mauea commits a foul at midcourt and probably a foul that didn’t need to be committed by my way up. Well, disappointment for France. They’ve won it the last two years. Dome was in that team last year. They won it and he’s been hit with a technical foul. Frustration. He exits. Trying to think of anything sportsmanlike to go with that. It’s unfortunate to see uh to see that right at the end. Not sure what he did, what he said, but you got to m, you know, you got to maintain those emotional control. All smiles in the Lithuania section. And there should be. I mean, they’ve got every chance to win this title. Not sure whose father that is, but he is a proud one. So, Larry Chica is now at the line after the foul. Just wonder if that was a double technical. Could have been. Let’s see. And that is Yeah, Done got hit with two technical fouls. That’s why he left the game. Wow. That’s not good de moan. He needs to he needs to get that out of his system. But all happiness for Lithuania as they celebrate a famous win for the country getting to the final of the under 20 Euro basket. They win it 8171 over France. They will face Italy for the title. Well, both of Lithuania’s last couple of games, they have been tested. I mean, it has been a team that has just gotten better and better in this tournament and it’s it’s uh you got to really applaud their competitiveness. They play hard, physical uh defensively tonight. I think they figured out France was not going to hurt them from three-point range. They really kind of cut everything out inside. out of Darus on showing that he knows how to coach getting his team into the final. I think a lot of people didn’t have this team making it to the podium, but they have ensured that they will at least get to the podium just like Italy who won the first semi-final against Serbia. So, the three-point shooting percentage dropped a little bit, but they had seven more makes from deep. It was using using it to really set the world al light from that standpoint and this was a just a terrific effort from Lithuania to come out and get this win. And you bear in mind the way that they got stronger as the game went on against Slovenia as well, winning that one in the quarterfinals 8567. They also beat Poland in the in the round of 16. Those two defeats that Lithuania had earlier in the tournament. Seemed like a long time ago. Italy will have watched this game and I think that everybody can agree that it’s going to be a humdinger tomorrow. It remains to be seen who’s available for Lithuania. If Bellioskas can play, if he if he can’t, that’s potentially a big absentee. Although, don’t forget Italy have also lost a couple of players to injury. So long tournament and you just have to go with what you got and both these teams have a lot of hearts. That much we know. So it should be a sensational final. France did what they could but the attack offensively just wasn’t there tonight. What they needed. Lithuania march into the championship game of the under20 Euro basket. Thank you.
